cups of coffee per day

I've been on a steady 2 per day diet. If I'm at work, one in the morning, one after lunch. If I'm at home, two as soon as I wake up.

btw my breath is AWESOME

2 - one with caffeine in the morning, one decaf in the afternoon.

i am always confused about this, they say one cup of coffee is 6 oz. i drink one cup of coffee per day but it's like 18 oz.

are we talking "cup," as in receptacle of choice (within reason obv) or "cup," the unit of measurement?

I have one of those lightweight metal travel-mug things & I fill it 2-3 times a day on avg.

I'm switching back to yerba mate this week (I find the stimulant factor to be cleaner & less jittery, plus supposedly it is healthier?). I usually come back around to the coffee, tho, for the taste mostly.

did cut down from 3 to 2, the final aim is 1 - in the morning, which is the one i cant give up on.

i wouldn't want to give up coffee. but i drink it once in the morning and that's it. it helps that i feel sick if i have any more than that and can't sleep if i drink it in the late afternoon.

used to be none, but it's free at my new job, so now it's three. terrible stuff.

just from working 9-5 this definitely was the case. it would have probably been 3 on average.

2-3 cups of tea, but generally just the one coffee - mid-afternoon when we're all flagging a bit and someone busts out the departmental cafetiere. We actually have a coffee club in our office - everyone chips in to buy fancy, exotic blends and then certain colleagues sit around for a few minutes discussing the sweetness of the Sudanese we had last week or whatever, blah blah blah. Having someone give me a hot drink at my desk is a tiny sprinkle of good cheer in the miserable slog of my workday, so I'm not really that fussy about the taste.

I mean, I've basically chain smoked at various points before & I could not have gotten past 1.5 packs or so if I tried. I can understand 2, maybe 3, but 6???

i've liked coffee since i was a little kid and would drink it with lotsa milk and two big scoops of sugar. now i drink it with a splash of nonfat and no sugar.

i guess i drink a little under half of one 8-cup french press but that's just one large mug. so i said 2.

how much do people spend on coffee?

i would pay up to $10/lb, usually less. but it takes me 2 weeks to go through a pound, i think.

Normal work day: 1 flat white + 3 instant (occasionally subbed for work machine that makes average stuff) before lunch, 1 or 2 after lunch :|

as i get older i seem to be going through periods where i'm drinking it like the world's supply is about to run out tomorrow so i better get as much in my system as i can today, and then periods where the very idea of drinking it first thing in the morning kinda turns my stomach. right now i'd say about one to one-and-a-half cups a day on average. this is a lot better than when i first started posting to ilx and most days i had more coffee in my body than blood.

days after nights of heavy drinking (like this morning), however, it is still very necessary, in large amounts, even though i know this runs counter to all "rehydrate to better kill hangover" theories.

I need four cups of coffee, one after the other, in the morning. I will be incredibly can't-keep-my-eyes-open tired throughout the day without them. Sadly, I did not discover the joys of coffee until college. Oh, how much better my high school years would've been if I knew about it then. Sigh...

That being said, I still after almost ten years of drinking it find the actual taste of coffee revolting. Awful awful stuff, but I drink it anyway.

Coffee after drinking IS necessary to function, but it's this caffeineted carapace over serious physical damage, so when it crumbles hours later you're still tired and wrung out as shit.

Uh, yeah...mainly because, when I wrote this up above, I was somehow figuring that the two cups when I first get up in the morning "don't count" for some reason. So I should have actually voted "6", easy.

I think it would be pretty unremarkable to live life without ever smoking a cigarette (especially for These Kids Today growing up in the era of indoor smoking bans, as opposed to old geezers like me whose parents smoked while bouncing me on their knees) than it would to live life without ever drinking coffee, which is really ubiquitous.

I should say, I like taking my second cup in the afternoon with a chocolate bar. the bitterness of the coffee offsets the sugariness so wonderfully and the sugar + caffeine high perks you the fuck up.

visiting my supplier later today. I spend about $5-8 for 100g of coffee, which lasts me a week. I spend about $5 a week for coffee at work. so in total about $10-13 a week?

2 cups black in the morning (grind/brew myself), then on lunch break I drive to the convenience store and get another cup. small cup on a regular day, medium if I know I'll be staying for overtime - I put milk in this one so that I can drink it before break is over.

i've had it a few times and always totally hated the taste -- i know that it's one of these things like beer where you go hate -> tolerate -> like -> love -> most important bodily fluid after blood, but i haven't gotten to the "tolerate" level just yet

the way into coffee is definitely to cut it with milk and sugar, imo. I think a good gateway would be vietnamese coffee - sweet and milky but the coffee taste still cuts through.

most lattes/frappes/whatever from starbucks taste like hot milk with coffee powder.

Never had this with coffee - didn't really with beer either tbh, first time I tried a sip of my dad's pint when I was about 7 I thought it was a bit weird, but I use to drink shandy so I was already kind of familiar with it.

I'm reading this thread with a certain sense of loss. Gave up coffee a few months ago and switched to tea for my caffeination needs because it wasn't doing my stomach any good.

I kind of feel like, well I don't drink a ton, I hardly smoke...I need a goddamn vice. And it's a nice vice :)

i've always loved the taste of coffee. in fact, when i get it now, i usually get it for the taste as opposed to the caffeine. i don't really need caffeine. i love decaf.

I don't ever drink milk on its own so I don't really know how skim tastes in comparison to whole but in coffee I think it's great. Most of my friends drink their coffee extra extra (light sweet) which is basically just coffee flavored sugar cream. It hardly tastes of coffee at all. These days I drink mine with just a splash of skim milk or black and no sugar. If I get a flavored coffee I'll ask for extra skim and sweetener because that's more a dessert type thing than coffee imo.

Oh and I recently discovered that I really like espresso too.
