I punched in Kanye West's apology to Taylor Swift from last September:
“I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom [Andrea]. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would’ve said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she’s in the bleachers! …………………… I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!…………….. Beyonce’s video was the best of this decade!!! I’m sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!!!! I’m sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I’m a fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin’ the show at the cribe right now cause…. Well you know!!!! I’m still happy for Taylor!!!! Boooyaawww!!!! You are very talented!!!!! I gave my awards to Outkast when they deserved it over me… That’s what it is!!!! I’m not crazy yall, I’m just real. Sorry for that!!! I really feel bad for Taylor and I’m sincerely sorry!!! Much Respect!!!!!”

--Soft sweet scented sheets of the hotel Blossom Dearie: yards of sumptuous unused bedding, virgin territory. Mysteries of the substances they give you for the shower. Mysteries of the shower, for that matter. In the 14 down elevator always different characters: odd European business associates this time, encountering each other here during descent, the group forming around me as though by accident. The elevator seems a running joke, the one qualm anyone has about the place, save also the coldness of the breakfast buffet at which rogue English voices sigh.--

then this para which actually quotes Pynchon
--The Park waits to the west with its lifelines traced in the orange of Christo’s Gates. Oddly mundane repetition of the pattern, orange cloth hung on orange poles, like some Kurosawan feudal structure perhaps but uniform all across the green miles when so much might have been gained by variation, the chances once so good for diversity. In two minutes you could toss together a notion that would improve it: on this path every gate bearing a handwritten quotation from a New York novel; on this every orange cloth emblazoned with a bird of America. Nothing doing. The Gates seem always excused by circumstance, some condition that’s absent: - They’d look better in the wind; - O, they’d look good in the snow. Nature beats them like it casually trumps much artifice: the setting sun behind the Reservoir Jackie Onassis peels more than one shade of orange across the silhouette-strewn sky.--

James Fenimore Cooper - who knew?
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)
this would be more useful if it included an explanation a la Pandora's radio stations
― HI DERE, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)
Lyrics to "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat" = Mark Twain
― R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)
is it supposed to be useful, though?
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)
by "useful" I really mean "interesting"
― HI DERE, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
as it is, it's either a cheap form of flattery or a source of LOLs (e.g. cats type like Arthur C. Clarke)
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
I think it was just plain evil to throw Dan Brown in as one of the results though.

James Brown's "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" = Kurt Vonnegut
― R. Stornoway (Tom D.), Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

― Everytime I hit 'submit post' the internet gets dumber (darraghmac), Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:22 (fifteen years ago)
d-mac, I already did that one! - it was David Foster Wallace
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:22 (fifteen years ago)
still picked jenas and berbatov after saturday's embarassment. plays robbie keane at right midfield, leaves one right midfielder on the left and our best one on the bench. leaves huddlestone on the bench all game.
still picking paul robinson.
he doesn't have any tactical knowledge. he can't change a game. he never, never picks the best eleven available. he never drops a player.
he wasted 17 million on a fourth best striker when we needed a midfielder that can pass and a left back (which is not gareth bale, by the way)
jol out.
I write like Kurt Vonnegut

― t( :D t) (jjjusten), Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:24 (fifteen years ago)
Stephen Garza writes like James Joyce
― HI DERE, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:27 (fifteen years ago)
A legal memo regarding the potential negligence of a landlord gave me David Foster Wallace. An analysis of an insurance company's arguments in a workers' comp case gave me Leo Tolstoy.
― sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:27 (fifteen years ago)
first Tim from KFC post = Agatha Christie!
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:28 (fifteen years ago)
Tim's style evolves in later posts to one resembling James Joyce
― sarahel, Thursday, 15 July 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)
this post merited a comparison to Stephen King.

this is basically a smartypants version of the "what Golden Girl are you?" type surveys that were a plague upon the internet years ago, right? the variation and accuracy of the results is about the same too.
― my nickname on ILX is frapped up shawty (some dude), Thursday, 15 July 2010 20:30 (fifteen years ago)
so which Golden Girl is DFW? Blanche?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 15 July 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)
i feel bad for DFW that some has posthumously created new technology to further the belief that using five dollars words and run-on sentences = writing like him
― my nickname on ILX is frapped up shawty (some dude), Thursday, 15 July 2010 20:31 (fifteen years ago)

"I suppose depending on how far inside we're talking here. Far enough inside, and yeah, it's all pink and clinical. Have you seen the porn that's all about girls with a clear plastic speculum? Baffling how that's erotic." = William Gibson
