LOL for some reason this is one of my mom's all-time favorite movies. I still have never watched it, just having it described to me by her was enough.

the uninvited --> lol surprise, u crazy & u slaughtered elizabeth banks with a kitchen knife, except u thought your sister did it, but she's dead and u spent the whole movie in a delusional state thinking she was alive and oh btw ur responsible for killing her & ur moms too lol

ps david strathairn is her dad

tangelo amour (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 20:41 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah Vantage Point more like Bollocks Point amirite?

The Others is the Nicole Kidman one

STOP DREAMING ABOUT HORSES, THIS IS REAL LIFE (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

i was gonna say 'the big easy' cos omg his BEST FRIENDS turn out to be the bad guys, but that's not really a 'twist' so much as a standard mystery. i mean, there's twists and then twists.

goole, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

Basic. The worst film I've ever seen ever. Ever.

Vantage Point was set in Spain, was it not?

Kenneth Branagh one is called Dead again.

All old horror movie story compilations, mostly produced by Amicus, where the dudes telling the stories turn out to be dead at the end.

http://www.feoamante.com/Movies/A/Asylum72MP.jpg

Slightly different twist there but that's a pretty sweet movie.

whoops

Hongro Horace (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

spike lee's 'inside man' iirc

Not much of a "twist" there (at least not of the 6th Sense/Fight Club variety), just a clever solution to "how are they gonna get away with this?".

Tuomas, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

can someone put SPOILERS in the title pls

k¸ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

goole, The Usual Suspects?

ailsa, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

oh duh of course

goole, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

Charlie Kaufman: The only idea more overused than serial killers is multiple personality. On top of that, you explore the notion that cop and criminal are really two aspects of the same person. See every cop movie ever made for other examples of this.

Donald Kaufman: Mom called it "psychologically taut".

tangelo amour (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:29 (fifteen years ago)

seconded Identity being "ridiculous", anybody who has taken one year of psychology was no doubt offended by the idiocy of it.

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:29 (fifteen years ago)

the twist that is

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:30 (fifteen years ago)

goole, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

total recall

k¸ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

I think this kinda of a twist is so common that movies like Arlington Road rely on the audience expecting it, so they can make their twist be that the protagonist didn't imagine it all, and all that suspect stuff was actually real.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

i predict at the end of Devil the twist is that all of the movies he's made were merely a kid playing on his computer

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

I liked arlington road!

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

i couldn't watch arlington road w/o yelling out dude lines from lebowski

goole, Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:37 (fifteen years ago)

had that with 'jagged edge'

The sulky expression from the hilarious "Aubrey Plaza" persona (history mayne), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

i liked that Arlington road actually showed the final shot in the fucking trailer....so that when you were watching, you were like "ahh musta been red herring trailer, or just a deleted scene", then a moment before the reveal you figure out that the scene is a split second away and understand where it fits in!

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:39 (fifteen years ago)

arlington rd does not fit in here imo

dude got framed!

tangelo amour (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:40 (fifteen years ago)

yea, instead I'll nominate Dark Knight for the part where Batman pulled down his pants and revealed himself to be pre-op transexual was COMPLETELY unexpected

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

spoiler, literally

k¸ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:42 (fifteen years ago)

Come on, Arlington Road is totally a "lol they made you a patsy" twist which is totally copped from Parallax View. They're both good movies, the latter a lot more so, but it's def supposed to be a "twist"/

Hongro Horace (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:48 (fifteen years ago)

oh that one where denzel writes the bible. utter shite ending, sweet movie til then too

k¸ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

Man we were talking about Book of Eli in the pub last night. Don't remember what the fuck got said.

Hongro Horace (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:51 (fifteen years ago)

sweet til ending covers it tbh

k¸ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:52 (fifteen years ago)

i didn't think it was all that. and the ending certainly wasn't soemthing to carry the film.

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 21:56 (fifteen years ago)

NV, it's a plot twist yea, but it proceeds directly from the plot of the movie -- there's no sneaky DO-YOU-SEE type plot revision / reveal of heretofore-concealed crucial plot points necessary to make the ending work!

tangelo amour (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 22:03 (fifteen years ago)

i liked 'book of eli'. i think it's a p big twist, but at the same time, not.

The sulky expression from the hilarious "Aubrey Plaza" persona (history mayne), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 22:04 (fifteen years ago)

xpost

nah that's true but a lot of twists aren't about "IT WAS THIS BRAND NEW CHARACTER ALL ALONG, SURPRISE", a lot of the films on here don't twist that way

Hongro Horace (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 22:05 (fifteen years ago)

xpost i thought the twist was gonna be something like the world wasn't blowed up and they were just in Alabama or something
