xp to self: That's a terrible thing to say. I mean, it is fucked up that he killed himself, and anytime someone does that it's tagic & sad. But just a scan of this thing reads like death death death death...thinking about death that much: there's ways to deal with it besides actually dying! I have read a lot of books (well, two) that had people who promised themselves suicide successfully exorcise it via such a writing activity so I am surprised & kind of startled that this writing activity actually ended with him killing himself. OTOH those books were fiction.

I was sorta hoping this would be all existentialist and bleak and make me consider suicide on a philosophical level but instead this is like 1000 pages on the norman conquest. I dunno what part you read oscar but I am pretty sure this guy was 100% insane.
"The two heroes of the epic, Frodo and Aragorn, appear asrepresentatives of two separate races, Hobbits and men. YetTolkien set out to create a distinctly Anglo-Saxon epic andits two heroes are both representatives of the Anglo-Saxon“race”. Hobbits embody the longing for an England beforethe despoliations of modern industrialization. Men embodythe longing for an England before the despoliations of theNorman Conquest."

― No Good, Scrunty-Looking, Narf Herder (Gukbe), Saturday, 25 September 2010 05:35 (fifteen years ago)
Now, before I blow my brains out, I should like to point out that the most basic issue at the very center of this work is not biology, race, or technology; it is nihilism. Ultimately, this is an experiment in nihilism. Every word, every thought, and every emotion come back to one core problem: life is meaningless. The experiment in nihilism is to seek out and expose every illusion and every myth, wherever it may lead, no matter what, even if it kills us.

these section titles are kind of self-consciously zany -- that particular one is in reference to the richard pryor record. i find it really weird to put spoilers on a suicide note, but it seems from his writing that he's not crazy, just sort of in extended grieving over the loss of a parent as a child. It's not clear that he actually believes the chain of logic any more than as a kind of Douglas Adams intellectual goof.

German-Americans died in two worldwars, not only for the domination of Anglo-Saxoncivilization over German Kultur, but for a world in whichHispanics would be rewarded multicultural rights inAmerica that the Germans themselves were denied. ForAmerica to preserve its identity in the mannerrecommended by Samuel Huntington’s Who Are We?, theAnglo-Saxon cultural conquest of the Germans must bepreserved.Illegal immigration is the equivalent of rape: forcedpenetration without consent. Just as the Normans made theirown rape of England legal tender in 1066, globalist eliteshave legalized the Latino conquest of greater “NewEngland”. The postmodern Mexican invasion is only thecompletion of the ethnic defeat process that began with thepremodern Norman invasion. I dunno, I've read worse Zizek (which this reads like at times, and they both have the same quality of being a put-on).
But there are moments of sincerity:"The death of my father marked the beginning, or perhaps the acceleration, of a kind of moral collapse, because the total, materialization of the world from matter to humans to literal subjective experience went hand in hand with a nihilistic inability to believe in the worth of any goal. At one point when I was nineteen, after another descent into a psychological downward spiral"

If my hypothesis is correct, this work will be repressed.
I wonder, if this dude had actually understood the internet and been familiar with Something Awful/Encyclopedia Dramatica/4chan/etc, would he have killed himself? A quick perusal of any of those sites would undermine the assumptions that led him to this hypothesis.
― Monkeys? Um, no. (HI DERE), Saturday, 25 September 2010 16:06 (fifteen years ago)
If everyone had to write a ~2000 manuscript of original research and philosophical rhetoric before they could kill themselves, we'd see a lot less suicide.
But what this really makes me think of is the whole "one book in me" idea; like people say they only have one book in them, to write, and once they've blown that load they have nothing left to do in life of importance. Like this guy wrote his own "Being and Nothingness" and then chose nothingness. Its really sad. Most suicide is.

I looked at the web site briefly. It did not take long to see what was happening there.
Clearly, he was searching for a meaning to his life and went badly off into the weeds. But, rather than finding fault in his sources, methodology or conclusions, he seems to have believed his intellect so remarkable as to be infallible, so that whatever strange ideas he came up with, he must be right and the rest of the world wrong. Here indeed was a narcissistic young person.
Sadly, the magnificence of his intellect was pretty sophomoric, afaics. His belief that his web site would be supressed (he said "repressed", I think) shows how much he misunderstood the world. If his site were to be supressed, it would be to save his survivors from hurt and embarassment, not to save the world from his dangerous ideas. His ideas are only dangerous to the immature.

Possible meaning: this thread is not a series of posters saying "how sad; I feel bad for his family", which sentiment would be appropriate in any case of suicide.
However, this young man did not simply commit suicide; he also presumed to have a claim upon the attention of the world for his intellectual achievements, and he attempted to impose this claim upon us through his act of violence. So it seems permissable to discuss his claim to be a great and penetrating thinker. I'm sorry he was wrong in that regard, too.

There is a very popular opinion that choosing life is inherently superior to choosing death. This belief that life is inherently preferable to death is one of the most widespread superstitions. This bias constitutes one of the most obstinate mythologies of the human species.
Okay, first of all, life and death are not two different phenomenon, they are both sides of the same coin and are eternally linked. Life does not come without death and death does not come without life. It's the cyclical nature of the universe, man.
Secondly, one does not chose life, one does not chose to be born, just as one does not chose to die. Both happen without any effort on our part as conscious entities. At no point during the day am do i say 'Should i breathe? It will make me live, so yes, I think I will!'
To be honest, I'm interested in hearing why he ultimately choses death over life, if there are no values and everything is equal because there is no God, no ethics, etc. I mean, if nothing matters, then why put the energy towards killing yourself when living is the default mode of your existence? Unfortunately I do not wish to spend the next week reading this narcissist, so if someone wants to put a link to the spoiler, let me know...

Hmm.. yes its almost as if he had some sort of problem fitting into mainstream academia and had troubles expressing himself concisely, as if he just wasn't right in the head or something... Let's continue analyzing this thing from the framework of textual criticism it will certainly pay dividends.

yeah, almost as if. fair enough.
still, some entertainment to be had:
Now, if one superimposes the triangular symbol of the pyramid with its inversion, what do you have? The Star of David, the symbol of Judaism:
▲ + ▼ = ✡
This conceptual inversion of Egyptian social order is at the very heart of Judaism’s monotheistic revolution. The founding paradigm of the Exodus portrayed the historic truth that things can work differently; that the world can be turned upside down by a greater-than-human power.

It reminds me a lot of someone I used to be very close to, who I recently had a huge falling out with. I know a lot of egotists (because I'm a musician) but it's rare that I encounter people who are full blown narcissists, which is something a bit different. People who really, deeply believe their thinking is infallible. it is tragic and also impossible to deal with.
