gareth, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

My friend said I look like a POODLE!

nathalie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

better a poodle than frickin HEIDI... grrr chiz grumble mumble...

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, Katie, Jess said I had a FRIENDS haircut. Told some friends and they actually AGREED. (He failed to say which character...)

nathalie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I had my haircut last Saturday.

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(heh nathalie just as long as it's not ROSS, eh? :))

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Haircut etiquette advice FAO PETE:

When you notice your lovely female flatmate & chum has had her hair cut, say 'oh you have had your hair cut? It looks lovely'. Don't say 'have you had your hair cut? Do you like it?' in a wary tone. Apparently the rationale behind this was that if I had burst into tears and said I hated it he could say it was awful but if I loved it he could agree. This is a bad idea. Just say it's great regardless.

Emma, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Nathalie, I thought Hilary Clinton. Though this was randomly while I was walking down the street, and not while looking at your picture, so please don't hate me.

Graham, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Having seen lots of people at the weekend who had different hair, I can say that I like Emma's hair and I like Katie's hair and Starry's hair, er, suits her :)

Warning: if your hairdresser asks if you like normally have your hair "a bit crazy" you will end up with asymmetry (cf. me)

Madchen, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

this reminds me, i must find pic of me in enorm pony-tail era to scare you all.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

HMPH. Emma you pointed and laughed at my hair for most of Saturday so I have no sympathy for yr flatmates non-comment.

Sarah, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete is like the guy in that coffee advert.

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

sarah's hair is grebt btw

mark s, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah it is. I only said that thing in that email cos just plain saying "[thread title]" seemed really sucky.

It's about time I got a hairstyle other than "wherever it goes when I brush it out of my eyes" I think. Any ideas?

Graham, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I did NOT point & laugh! Not together anyway! Anyway you yourself were bemoaning the state of it and were asking for advice on how to change / fix / whatever it!

Emma, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Pete was characteristically wise. Lots of girls (possibly guys too) get very irritated if you go "oh I like your hair" and they don't like it.

Ronan, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

No no no if I had my hair done & hated it (don't think this has ever happened, thank you lovely hairdressers) and someone else said they liked it, it would give me hope that I don't look atrociously horrible and perhaps I would try to look at it more positively. Just say you like it and if they say 'oh I hate it' say 'but it is grebt! You look a million dollars'. See, everybody's happy.

Emma, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Emma is right and yet I keep foolishly thinking that because somebody says they don't like their hair that gives me the right not to like it too. When oh when will I learn?

Tom, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmmm I remember a few conversations which ran like

Me:"Your hair looks nice!" Person:"No it doesn't! I hate it" Me:"No really, it is nice" Person:"Eh yeah thanks Ronan, very funny".

Cue at least 2 or 3 minutes of "no I wasn't messing".

Ronan, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"you've head your haircut!"

"yes, do you like it?"

"it's great"

There you go, simple.

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i just love what you've done to your hair!

gareth, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"you've had your haircut" even!

though, I quite like "you've head your haircut".

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(please may I be excused? I'm not making sense today)

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

do you look like Heidi, Katie?

Rowr.

DV, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

COR SAUCE *runs away from DV* heheh not really. i have my plaits in today! no alpine outfit though you PERV ;)

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

God Katie I just wanted to eat you all up* on Tuesday cos of your hair.

*I mean hugglez you.

Internet Crepe, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

you are all pervs and mentalists. god, tell me something i didn't know...

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the Rocks's real name is Dwayne.

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

its sooooo you!

gareth, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(i knew that jel, to my everlasting shame)

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

What is cor sauce (and can we eat it)?

Dan Perry, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's made from the Corrs, all of their vital fluids concentrated into one little bottle of sauce.

Nicole, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

So, I guess we can't eat it then.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

like i said, pervs and mentalists...

katie, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Can't this be just a bit about hats?

Tim, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

does anyone on ILE have the Stupid McSideburns haircut?

it makes you look very stupid but simultanaeously hyper trendy.

DV, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

So, I guess we can't eat it then.

Nonsense, Dan. It's what you sprinkle on leprechauns after you put them on spikes and roast them over an open fire to make shisk kebabs.

I do like the way my hair currently looks, the slight trim a month back to take care of the random split ends was advantageous.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And my hair's looking lovely as ever, thanks.

nabisco, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm gonna get me a Traficant. The Alvin Stardust-crossed-with-a-skinhead-girl look for middle-aged gentlemen-it's sooooo me!

Arthur, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I am getting my hair cut in 20 mins. Probably not much though. I resent having to pay again. Bring back Austin!

N., Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Short at the front! Long at the back!

DV, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Long at the front! Short in the back!

Dan Perry, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Short on the left! Long on the right!

Graham, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

get a Joe Cole!

jel --, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is clearly directed at me since I gave myself a #1 cut last night and I think I did a flawless job, not leaving the odd longer tuft at the back where I can't see.

Martin Skidmore, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

yay for #1.. i've never looked back

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 1 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I went with Dan's advice, sort of (not that I actually read it). It's a triumph!

N., Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

you had an undercut N?

jel --, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not actually short at the back. I mean there's still about four inches there. It's just that there was a lot to take off.

N., Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned
Your Hair Looks Stupid
Sarah,Emma,Katie
I remember as having ace ace hair

anthony, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the priviledge of seeing N.'s hair mere minutes after it was cut, and really, it looks smashing.

I also recall thinking how lovely Emma's hair looked at the weekend. Another triumph.

I have sideburns, but they aren't too silly. I don't think. I had them cut off once, it was horrible and draughty. I would probably get it cut today if a had more than 20 quid to my name. Hmm actually today it is looking pretty good except for the mullet developing down the back.

Ally C, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I love this thread. Gimme more.

Emma, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

'It' = my hair, not the sideburns again. Oooh, the thought.

Ally C, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I've to get my hair cut for my brother's wedding, I keep flirting with the idea of shaving it all off even though I know it looks stupid. (I have a passport photo to remind me painfully of this fact)

Ronan, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

but Ronan, your hair isn't *that* long.

DV, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I know but (a)it has got longer since glastonbury and (b)my mum said it was "a bit wild". I could probably argue but also it's reaching the point where it gets too hot in clubs cos of my hair. Also last night at work some cunt driving a pickup truck said "what happened your hair". Bastard, "WHAT HAPPENED YOUR FUCKING LIFE, NICE PICKUP TRUCK GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH". I was filled with rage for about 30 seconds but said nothing.

Ronan, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Your Hair Looks Stupid

*weeps*

Ned Raggett, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I got a haircut on Tuesday. I think it looks crap so I've been wearing a fisherman's hat all week. Yes I am that conceited. It just needs a couple of days to "grow in" you know.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

how can you be conceited if you are wearing a fisherman's hat?

jel --, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all or nothing, jel

Tracer Hand, Friday, 2 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

mine is still sorting itself out since the last cut, and i do not have the luxury of a hat, fishermans or other

but, if i was to think through and analyse everything in this thread, i can still only really come to the same conclusion: i just love what you've done with your hair!

gareth, Monday, 5 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

gareth i have mailed sinclair 2u

mark s, Monday, 5 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"You've got so much hair!" Yes, I know it's thick, dammit, and getting the fucker taken down to a good inch and a half off the scalp every three weeks isn't keeping pace; not to mention this tendency for, like, whole clumps of it to fucking levitate in weird mutant cowlicks at any random place about the back half of my head. Next time I go in I'm getting it short short shorter than I've had since fifth grade when "flat tops" were in.

Dan I., Monday, 5 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
i just love it! i like the red chunks youve put in there.

gareth (gareth), Monday, 3 March 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

are they bits of tomato?

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

thats cruel:(

gareth (gareth), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

What's with all the thread revivals, G?

I hate what I've done with my hair. I thought I'd look like John Taylor. I just look like I have a yellow mop hanging in my eyes. :-(

kate, Monday, 3 March 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

mine is getting a bit long and mulletesque, I think it's time to visit the scissors

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Circumcision whouldn't be entered into lightly, Ronan.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

lightly is not the right word Dan, I assure you

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 3 March 2003 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

ah sorry Gareth, obviously this isn't going to be the year of vegetable hair accessories after all.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 3 March 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Thinking of getting my hair cut in a month or so. I've been growing it out forever and it's time I had some sort of style to my longish hair, so I don't just pull it back all the time.

Hurrah for multiple thread revivals! Long live ILXOR!!L!K!LK!J!KL!!!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Monday, 3 March 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking of growing my hair again, into a mean 70s trucker look. I really want to look like Jerry Reed. I probably can't pull it off, though.

Arthur (Arthur), Monday, 3 March 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, it's cool that this thread reappeared just now, 'cause I just had my brother shave my head yesterday. I always suspected I was one of those people upon whom a shaved head looks good, and now I'm sure of it! (which is a relief)

Dan I., Monday, 3 March 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I really want to look like Jerry Reed.

Arthur as a guest host on Scooby-Doo would be FANTASTIC!

"Hey kids! 'Pretty Mary Sunshine/She's alright to me...'"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 March 2003 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

My favorite part of gareth's hair is the fringe, it's soooo him.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 3 March 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Unfortunately, Dan, I'll probably end up looking more like Robert Reed.

Arthur (Arthur), Monday, 3 March 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I currently have fluffy white hair. It's kind of cute, although not entirely flattering. People say nice stuff about it.

toraneko (toraneko), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I look like I am wearing a hat.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you wearing a hat?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't had a haircut in two months, I'm growing a mullet.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Mullets are wonderful! You should blow dry it and mousse it and take care of it the way you would a tiny puppy.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

i am still trying to figure out what to do with my hair. would shaving my head because i am going bald make me just as lame as moby? i am not interested in pills or plugs as an alternative, but i am also sick of looking like i am 40 (nothing wrong with being 40, but i am 22). I am especially frustrated because I still fantasize about actually being cool.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Having a shaved head is not what makes Moby lame. It looks great on most people who have it.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Having a shaved head is not what makes Moby lame.

hehe you are right thanks.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I suggest a monk-like haircut Aaron. Then get a robe.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

And a lightsabre.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to start the follicly-challenged lobby to the us government.
also, can i add that i got into jazz and techno before i went bald? thanks.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

no not a lightsabre, a lighthouse!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Having a shaved head is not what makes Moby lame. It looks great on most people who have it.

This is all an evil plot to make me shave my head, I know.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

ned you have done it again! we are foiled! "just because yr paranoid dont mean they're not after you" hahaha!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

*hides whimpering in the corner*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Emma's went purple last night. It was quite a shock (when she told me, I din't notice straight off).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I need to have a TRIM I must sa.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

ronan's post about the truck driver cracked me up. yay for thread revivals.

like chris, i have not had my hair cut in two months and i am growing a mullet as well.

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 20:45 (twenty-two years ago)

would shaving my head because i am going bald make me just as lame as moby?

I think it would look great if you fancy it, looks great anyway as is. (Note: writer is partial to male pattern baldness.)

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

heheh thanks.

i think i found a better analogy as well. i am more scared of being kenny aaronoff. he was a regular bald guy when he played drums for john cougar mellencamp in the 80s but then he went on tour with the smashing pumpkins and he shaved his head to look cool and put on these cheesy glasses with yellow flourescent lenses and...

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I have been growing for the past couple months. It's very odd.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Also I've been growing hair (for the first time in years).

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

thats marvelous :-)

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 4 March 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

ahhh I've got thee assymmetry thing after a haircut last night. I'm getting use to it.di said "oh look at you", menelaus said "your asymmetrical", antron said "demure" and the boyf said "looks nice, its shorter". I think I like it.

You don't like it like this? :(

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 20 May 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

What to do with my hair, what to do? I've had long hair forever, but I don't dare have more than the split ends cut off because of the horror that is...the white-girl 'fro.

it's very girly sports style, with a hint of sino-vision; i hope i don't look like dorothy hammill

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

sino-vision should be an awesome superpower.

RIGHT.

Comparison #1: you look like Louise Brooks! (yay!)
Comparison #2: you look like [friend who looks like veronica lake] (yay!)
Comparison #3: you look kinda like a playmobil toy

...

Guess which comparison has pleased me most so far?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 February 2004 09:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Playmobil! Playmobil! Although LEGO minifigs are better.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 9 February 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Comparison #4: it looks very French

Playmobil!! Hurrah!! I prefer the playmobil little people to the lego ones I must say. They have much better scenery to play with, and their little claw style hands there, marvellous.

Well the lady has the distinctive chunky texture of yr hair down, Sarah. Although she is ironing and hence clearly mental.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 9 February 2004 10:59 (twenty-one years ago)

She is ironing in a very pissed off and half hearted looking way tho.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 9 February 2004 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't that how everyone irons? (not that I'd know, I try to avoid it at all costs!)
