If someone wants to make an instrument track but doesn't want to sing we would be an ideal combo. But I can cobble together a song easily enough in a worst-case scenario.

no one has taken "the way to happiness" yet? I can do dat

odd future wolves GM trade them all (bernard snowy), Sunday, 27 February 2011 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

Appropriately, the rhythms employ Ron’s signature surge and his carefully composed melodies fully integrate with a message that effectively sums up both this album and his life:

"To you there is no limit, knowledge is your key

Take the route of auditing and once again be free."

odd future wolves GM trade them all (bernard snowy), Sunday, 27 February 2011 22:35 (fifteen years ago)

btw can anyone tell what they are saying in the chorus of the song I just took ("The Way to Happiness")

(the thing that is actually supposed to BE "the way to happiness"
it sounds kinda like "soul truth"??)

I guess the last "Thanks for listening" track isn't really taken - I could do it. i've made a ron-hubbard-style medley of the 3 songs i could find youtubes of: http://k002.kiwi6.com/hotlink/hb88oaz0ye
(the intro is the knack, because i needed to ease into the thing)
feel free to sample (or finish chiptuning the entire album!)

I'll take Trayce's suggest and do 'Alien Visitors Attack' Thinking of some Add N to X style stuff but will probably just turn out droney bollocks (with 'The Drone' being too obvious)

Gold Coast Sonning (S-), Thursday, 3 March 2011 23:46 (fifteen years ago)

here's the chiptune medley for "THE ROAD TO FREEDOM" and two other songs I don't know the names of again, suitable for sampling (I hope y'all do sample, otherwise i've listened to these musics about 20x in a row for nothing!)
and also two more samples where I tried my best to isolate Tom Cruise from the fake mission impossible bassline from those leaked scientology vids.
(his laugh is astoundingly like Vincent Price's from Thriller, if you were looking for a place to insert such a sample)

Hello sorry - I have actually finished it (it was done Sunday night) but I've been porting it about and obsessively listening to it on different systems to check the mastering - which I've decided is horrible and muddy and bass heavy as normal so I'm gonna go home tonight and remaster it without all the compression on the kick and the bassline and see if I like it any better.

Even if I don't, you'll have it on Wednesday honest.

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 18:45 (fifteen years ago)

my song was "inspired by" the original, but it ended up going in a pretty different direction.

butterfield earth (get bent), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

Remastered and sent.

I tried doing a straight cover, but it just sounded utterly ridiculous, so instead I took one of the riffs in the song and the lyrics and built a new song around it like I was remixing it. So I'm hoping that I preserved enough of the original song to be appropriate.

Jlloyd, I'm ready to be heartbroken (ken c), Thursday, 14 April 2011 08:05 (fifteen years ago)

kinda bummed nobody picked up "l'envoi, thank you for listening"

ned can you record these "lyrics" and I will put them over "disco inferno" or 5 minutes of oscillator noise or something... however I doubt it will ever match the sheer insanity that is the original...

Thank you for listening
I write just for you
But others hearing this may find
Things they would argue.

I do not sing what I believe
I only give them fact
If they believe quite otherwise,
It still will have impact.

For truth is truth and if they then
Decide to live with lies
That’s their concern, not mine, my friend,
They’re free to fantasize.

okay, I had a bunch of personal shit unexpectedly and unpleasantly hit the fan earlier this week, but I'm good now — gonna eat some dinner, have a beer or two, and then power through my po-faced cover of the schlockfest that is "the road to happiness" — should have it up in the next few hours; and I apologize for the holdup

MaresNest, reading Bernard's post I am in doubt now whether I titled my song correctly. I had 'The Road to Freedom', have I mistaken it for 'The Road to Happiness'? I cannot access the computer I made it on atm. Thanks.

Hey all, well I have everything together now, well done everybody! This time next week (or sooner) I will post the comp, just need to check the relative levels, edit tags, finish artwork, sequence and settle on a title.

I will post the unsequenced tracklist as per the artwork soon and if anybody has any tweaks let me know.

I was planning to include the ILX handle as well as band name, again if anybody has different ideas about how they will appear let me know.

1) title poll closes today
2) design cover art
3) profit

4) spend all profit defending against C0S lawsuit

5) Stealing Katie Holmes away from Tom Cruise, once she's presented our undeniably strong case. Tom will be on Oprah again talking about how ILX lured his wife away. He will also jump up and down on a couch again, only this time he will fall through it with one leg. Trying to Thetan-balance himself he falls backwards over the couch on the floor and dies. Oprah quickly cancels her big surprise of having fusilli Tom Cruise's under all audience members' seats. After the show she collects all of them and makes a nice meal of it for her girlfriend.

I was all "wow, they've sampled Kate Radley"

Then I realised I'd put the wrong disc in.

I got up to track 4, but will start from track 1 again fro trip home...

(of course, it's all marv, and the real track 1 has some sort of connection to track 1 of "Lads and Gents", sort of)

pan loco y salsa loca (get bent), Thursday, 28 April 2011 08:12 (fifteen years ago)

I listened to some of this last night and it was rad, but then I realised Songbird had put the tracks in the wrong order (not a tags problem, I had somehow clicked on "please play my tracks in alphabetical order of artist") and I wanted to hear it in the right order so I'm saving it for tonight.

Wish I could listen at work but I think the amount of roffling might be inappropriate to the office environment.

Bumpin' this beautiful barrel of weird!

The opener is hauntologically unsettling. I love The Gospel of Ken C (the organ wins it, mahn!). Karen D's 'Mining Song' made me think of Dirty Projectors (hope that's no insult to you, I for one love it). Snoball's is so much fun to listen to (*toot toot*), Edward III's <3 <3 <3 lovely Miami-vibe, love the piano too. Bernard Snowy's naked and ace rendition would make me a believer, Get Bent & Crüt's darkness is great, as is Mark G's slow jam. I love it all, basically.

This has just turned out a fantastic record, y'all!
