What is the most/least attractive sitcom cast?

Sort of had this discussion on the Malcolm in the Middle thread but I figured I'd bring it out here to see which sitcoms have the most (or least) good looking people on it.

My vote -

Best:
That 70's show - besides the parents, all the 'main' characters were practically models, especially the two women + the occasionally seen sister and even Donna's mom...yowsa)

Friends - never watched more than 10 minutes of it but Jen Aniston (in her early 30s) + Courtney Cox (before she became anorexic) + whoever the dumb quirky one is were all super hot, and the guys were definitely photogenic.

Scrubs - mostly for the blonde girl but pretty much everyone on the show was pretty good looking

Worst:
Home Improvement - Tim Allen is goofy looking, the kids are goofy looking, Jill is extremely plain, I guess Al Borland used to have the Brawny man thing going on in the first few seasons but that's it. Only real saving grace was that a young Pam Anderson was on it once. Maybe Wilson was a good looking man but we never found out.

Big Bang Theory - I guess that's sort of the point of the show, but the girl isn't even that hot. I mean she's like "infomercial hot" but not "TV hot" if you know what I mean. The only real attractive character is the girl who dates the guy with the big nose, the one that seems slightly insane

Alright...your turn

Cast of How I Met Your Mother is pretty hot all around IMO.

worst noms:

Small Wonder: the cast consisted uniformly of those who spanned the gamut from 'a little off' to full-on grotesque.

Mama's Family: not quite as freakish as SW, but damn..

Both Two and a Half Men and Seinfeld have pretty ugly/bland looking casts (save for Elaine who isn't like drop dead gorgeous but definitely is very good looking...never liked her hair though) and they both made up for it with an endless list of A+ supermodel guest stars as temporary girlfriends of Seinfeld/Charlie Sheen. The kid from 2.5 Men is just fuck ugly now and believe it or not has gotten WORSE as an actor since he hit puberty.

frogbs, Thursday, 17 February 2011 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

the main cast on community is almost all nice looking and if time travel is allowed then chevy chase counts too

you don't really need an excuse

frogbs, Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

It should be the subject matter for all threads imo. Everything else on here should be "off-topic."

Cunga, Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

I think there's an upside down bell curve where sitcoms with extremely ugly or extremely hot casts are quite funny and ones with nominally attractive casts are just terrible.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:26 (fourteen years ago)

this is tough mainly because it comes down to how the guys look, since let's be real most women cast on TV shows are at least above average attractive whereas the guys have some leeway if they're funny. but like the new show Traffic Light, 2 of the 3 male leads are so unpleasant to look at it almost outweighs how hot the 2 girls are.

tellysavalas (some dude), Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:35 (fourteen years ago)

also i'm not sure how you measure this for shows that have outlier cast members that are much older and/or less attractive than the central hotties -- like do Screech and Mr. Belding disqualify Saved By The Bell?

tellysavalas (some dude), Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:38 (fourteen years ago)

tons of women in comedy history who are if not outright ugly then at least didn't get on TV because of their looks, from joan rivers to jane lynch

tellysavalas (some dude), Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:45 (fourteen years ago)

I think it might be, if you're a really ugly (or if we're not being mean, "distinctive"), then you better bring the laughs, and if you're really hot,
you're not going to settle for a show with mediocre writing when you could potentially have a movie career or something.

but if you're just standard tv-pretty, dreck and you are gonna gravitate to each other.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 17 February 2011 21:48 (fourteen years ago)

if you're a really ugly (or if we're not being mean, "distinctive"), then you better bring the laughs,

Beyond sitcoms, this summarizes many people's approach to dating.

Cunga, Thursday, 17 February 2011 22:05 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like Friends was probably the turning point where sitcoms, or at least most bad or undistinguished ones, prioritized casting attractive people over funny people (also when young singles in New York became the default setting instead of a family household or workplace). HIMYM has a good combo of hot/funny but a lot of failed or failing shows throw together a bunch of pretty people and hope the writing carries the laughs -- shit like The Class or Perfect Couples. then there are shows like Rules Of Engagement where there's a really sharp divide between the middle-aged comedy vets like Warburton and Spade and the not very funny at all younger couple.

Just Shoot Me has a pretty ugly cast especially for a sitcom. The daughter of the CEO has some big honkers but otherwise it has David Spade, the bald photographer, Brian Posehn, and an older lady with lots of plastic surgery. And they weren't funny either. 0 for 2

frogbs, Thursday, 17 February 2011 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

why do these shows hire posehn if they don't let him be funny?

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 17 February 2011 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

Good question. It would be like casting Alison Brie and then constantly making her wear an ugly costume.

Just Shoot Me could be funny when it chose to, but that wasn't very often. And Posehn's character on the show was written to be more dumb than funny. David Cross's cameos as bald photographer's brother were funny, though.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 17 February 2011 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah now that I think of it she's definitely not bad looking and really doesn't look too much worked on (though for 60 obviously she has had some things done); they just sort of referred to it so much on the show and for the only female character next to one that was kind of bland looking (besides you know what) was not really appealing to the superficial side of my brain

maybe a little skeezy to bring up TGIF shows, especially after i mentioned Saved By The Bell, but the 2 shows i sometimes watch reruns of on ABC Family in the morning are Boy Meets World, which had a pretty good-looking cast toward the end when the tall redhead joined, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which had tons of hot girls in the early seasons (but then Sabrina's friends were strangely hideous in the later seasons)

That Dr. Girlfriend actress on Drew Carey seems to have made a career playing Dr. Girlfriends, most recently as Dr. Girlfriend on LOST and Dr. Girlfriend on HOUSE.

Not only her, but the show also boasted serious hotness in Christa Miller, Kate Walsh and someone else whose name escapes me. But yeah, they were easily offset by the rest of the cast.

Christina Applegate's short-lived "Samantha Who?" had one hell of a good looking cast.

When finding sexy people in sitcoms, I usually end up seeking out individuals rather than full casts. I've also noticed that old school sitcoms had better wardrobes than these newer mockumentary-style comedies.

Mid 20s would be stretching it, but she does typically look at least five years younger (or more) than she actually is at any given time. Even when E.R. did their best to make her look overworked/stressed/etc, she was still cuet.

Happy Endings was the first thing I thought of when I saw this topic had resurfaced. I wasn't all about Casey Wilson on SNL but I'm seeing the appeal now. And Eliza Coupe is next level. Between her and Gillian Jacobs, I'm starting to overcome my general lack of attraction to blondes (funniness certainly helps).
