I assume we're talking like on glue tubes or creams in a metal tube w/a really narrow nozzle with a thin metal foil seal, and the plastic cap usually has an indented centre on the top with a little sharp pyramid so you can jab the tube on that to puncture the seal (except it doesn't always work and you get gunk on the outside of the lid)
have spent too long looking for a pic on GIS where you can actually see into the outside of the cap

ok maybe "it's just a shout away" X 1000 is less annoying than "na na na na na na na na na na na na" X 1000, but I dunno, not to get too Geir Hongro here, but British Invasion groups discovering soul music and recording songs that are basically just endless rave-up codas (in a bad way) was not a good idea. and I don't hate either of these groups (although I'm largely ignorant of the Stones, obviously). maybe I'm just missing something, or maybe I am in an unusually challopsy mood this morning.

Didn't know about either the "You're So Vain" or the "Games Without Frontiers" before this thread. Rad!
Speaking of Elvis Costello, howzabout the fact that his first album was basically Elvis Costello and the News?
Also: the YKK that is on almost every zipper (go ahead and check) is the initials of the Japanese company that basically has a worldwide monopoly on zipper making. I don't know what I thought it meant before. Like maybe some kind of regulatory mark that the industry forced manufacturers to use or something. Or Ya Kid K (one hoped). Once you start paying attention, though, you'll realize that most of the zippers that give you hassles aren't YKK zippers, so there's probably a legit reason for the monopoly.

Well the thing with the croissants is that when I get one from a bakery or whatever it doesn't have to be warm to have that crisp outside, melty inside deal, but grocery croissants somehow lost that in favour of all over limp doughiness. just amazed that it was not always down to inferior product, as i'd always assumed, and crispy/melty balance can be easily restored via toasting.

― coffeetripperspillerslyricmakeruppers (Latham Green), Wednesday, 15 June 2011 16:01 (thirteen years ago)
I think it's a submission thing, as in you're allowing them carte blanche to smack you in the face, and thus are admitting they are the dominant animal. The reason why this doesn't always work is that some cats just want to take the opportunity to smack you in the face.

yeah, you pinch the top (other end from the stem) to open it. but you have to deal with that bitter spike thing that otherwise gets left at the bottom.

Oh and here's something else - don't bake with tinfoil underneath the stuff you're baking if you can possibly avoid it. For shielding, wrapping, sure - but for underneath I found out that parchment paper is 1000x more effective. Nothing sticks to it! Your fish sticks and pizza crusts will be perfectly crispy brown and not get torn to pieces or have embedded bits of foil. This revelation was life changing!
