Are you ready?!

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 14 July 2011 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i did not know the new season was coming so soon until i learned (via facebook, of course) that one of my first-ever boyfriends will be a contestant this season. haven't even seen him in over 10 years! kinda strange to know i'll be watching him on the tee-vee once this starts.

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 14 July 2011 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

so...

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 28 July 2011 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

omg I almost forgot!

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 29 July 2011 05:58 (fourteen years ago)

Michael, Nina, Heidi, and Tim are like ... I missed them so much and didn't even know I missed them.

polyphonic, Friday, 29 July 2011 06:00 (fourteen years ago)

<3 tim exclaiming "is that a toilet?"

johnny crunch, Friday, 29 July 2011 23:58 (fourteen years ago)

Did Anthony Ryan say he was a Gulf War veteran or was I mishearing things?
Might as well cut Gunnar Deatherage, he's more of a Metalocalypse guy than a Project Runway guy.
ZOMGLOLZ @ Michael Kors' "I like myself" pocket.

La Petite Mordy (Leee), Saturday, 30 July 2011 21:25 (fourteen years ago)

Also, does the guy who just avoided elimination remind anyone else of Michael C.?

La Petite Mordy (Leee), Saturday, 30 July 2011 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

Anya's pants were the grossest thing I have heard the judges praise. The fit? The FIT? There was a giant pubic poof and the crotch hung to her knees. I don't think she should have been in the bottom three, but I thought some of the "safe" designs were much better than that. It's like the judges were so amazed that she could sew, they forgave a multitude of hideous sins. I thought the construction on Bert's dress was a little funky, too.

When Baldy McBalderson's look came out on the runway my exact words were, "What the fuck?" I was way more horrified by his look and the jacked up snowboarding pants than by Rafael's stuff.

Elmo, which designer did you used to date?

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Monday, 1 August 2011 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

I kind of feel compelled to pull for the chubby, 38-year-old white lady with glasses for obvious reasons.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Monday, 1 August 2011 01:22 (fourteen years ago)

the guy i used to date was the first designer dismissed in the pre-challenge elimination! i was hoping he would go far. aw.

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Monday, 1 August 2011 01:52 (fourteen years ago)

I've heard that one day you're in, the next day you're out.

Jeff, Monday, 1 August 2011 01:54 (fourteen years ago)

Aw, bummer, Elmo.

johnny crunch, Friday, 5 August 2011 23:11 (fourteen years ago)

Heidi had a lot of nerve bitching about that Groomed Man's model's makeup with that lipstick on. Dag.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 6 August 2011 02:52 (fourteen years ago)

even though the color style was dated, me and my family liked the orange and brown garment in the bottom 3 over the design that won

the diary of anne's spanx (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 6 August 2011 08:20 (fourteen years ago)

Me too! I liked the color and the style, too, but I only learn things are dated by listening to judges bitch about them on Project Runway.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 6 August 2011 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

Loooool they gave Olivier subtitles even though dude was speaking english. wtf with that accent tho seriously

(and yes, I caved despite swearing never to watch PR ever again. This season's designers seem totally crazeballs so...)

Roz, Saturday, 6 August 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

Olivier is from OHIO. He moved to London when he was 16. He is now 22. That accent gives me the rage.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 6 August 2011 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

Olivier is from OHIO

he's a scientologist

Bert was acting like a total diva.

Really liking the girl who "cant sew"

Which one? Apparently there are like 2-3 of them this season.

his loser, bum of a son, named Jesus Christ (Leee), Monday, 8 August 2011 04:14 (fourteen years ago)

The one who kind of looks like Cassie (mohawk anyway), aka Miss Trinidad & Tobago, aka Anya Ayoung-Chee.

streetball technician in the flesh (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 8 August 2011 04:18 (fourteen years ago)

anthony ryan's was quite nice but maybe too referential to mcqueen? what with the high ornate collar and faux beading effect. though definitely my favorite of the bunch if not the most original.

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Monday, 8 August 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

That Oliver kid is going to be the bane of my existence this season. That shirt he made fit like ass on his model.

Darin, Monday, 8 August 2011 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

Don't forget blond "I'm the Only One Who's Glam, and btw, SPOILED RICH."

his loser, bum of a son, named Jesus Christ (Leee), Tuesday, 9 August 2011 04:20 (fourteen years ago)

btw, finally figured out that Anthony Ryan is not an Iraq war veteran, i.e. it's "I Rock One," not "Iraq I."

his loser, bum of a son, named Jesus Christ (Leee), Tuesday, 9 August 2011 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

The blond from St. Louis is going to be a treat, too, but I feel that the editors are already going after her. She'll be gone in six weeks. Oliver will probably be in the top five gods be damned.

Darin, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:17 (fourteen years ago)

i really hate the vain overly bronzed dude who just had to roll up the sleeves on the scrubs in the 1st challenge and then in the second one rolled up the sleeves on his stupid yellow t-shirt. he isnt even that toned i mean srsly give it up

feel like there are some decent ppl this year tho

Lamp, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:21 (fourteen years ago)

Oliver reminds me an awful lot of Miles from Piece of Art in case any of the eight people who watched that show are reading.

Darin, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:22 (fourteen years ago)

Also, has this been mentioned yet?

Darin, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda like the idea that the blonde woman sitting in the second row is a witch & none of the other contestants can see her she looks impishly knowing but also sinister

if thats the woman who always made those great beach-y patterned dresses then im glad cuz i liked her stuff a lot, if i were a girl i wouldve bought her stuff for sure

Lamp, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 06:30 (fourteen years ago)

oh kenley

nh (cozen), Tuesday, 9 August 2011 11:27 (fourteen years ago)

x-post

you mean uli? the german woman from season 3 the judges kept telling to make something other than resort wear and she kept making resort wear anyway? that's not her.

i don't see the point of bringing these people back for an all-stars show if they're not going to interact with the judges who already know and loathe them. specifically, i wanna see heidi vs. kenley 2: the rematch.

imo it seemed like last season tim & the judges just stopped giving a shit altogether about the show being meaningful and were more openly hostile towards the contestants than usual. i thought giving gretchen the win was just a big fu to the whole process.

also, oliver isn't a scientologist i was just riffing on that nails song.

slugbuggy, Wednesday, 10 August 2011 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

So Tim and them are not hosting the all star show, but are they leaving the show for good? Terrible free Chicago commuter paper The Red Eye had a little blurb yesterday that said they were gone (but did not mention the all star show) but I feel like if that was really real there would be a whole lot more enraged blog posts about it.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Wednesday, 10 August 2011 12:26 (fourteen years ago)

Oliver reminds me an awful lot of Miles from Piece of Art in case any of the eight people who watched that show are reading.

Fauxcent automatically makes Olivier ten times worse than Miles.

i kinda like the idea that the blonde woman sitting in the second row is a witch & none of the other contestants can see her she looks impishly knowing but also sinister

Lamp, that's Gordana. I remember liking her generally and the dress she made for the "Inspired by a work of art" challenge, but I can't actually remember anything more specific about her.

Man, some of those designers are O_o All-Star choices.

Man that was a whole lot of fug on the runway

Roz, Saturday, 13 August 2011 10:58 (fourteen years ago)

Falene looked like the stylists at the hip place where I get my hair cut. She was clearly not emotionally cut out for this show. I wish her the utmost happiness.

I think Kimberly and my 38-year-old, bespectacled, chubby sister were robbed. I am not fashion-aware enough to pick up on this myself, But I guess the winning design was super referential - http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2011/08/pr-winner-winner-chicken-dinner.html.

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 13 August 2011 14:10 (fourteen years ago)

Tom and Lorenzo otm:

Worse, the designers once again seemed to get no information as to what the judges were looking for. You would think a stilt-walker challenge meant that the whimsical and fantastical were not only on the table, but encouraged. Instead, the judges – and we think they should be a bit embarrassed by this – mostly praised the outfits that looked like regular clothes, except really, really elongated.

seriously thought the same thing, and wondered wtf Michael Kors was on about when he was all "This would still be amazing if it was scaled down". why bother with a stiltwalker challenge then?

Roz, Saturday, 13 August 2011 16:41 (fourteen years ago)

I think it would be one thing if the more fantastical outfits were, you know, good. If Chris March made something it probably would've won.

polyphonic, Saturday, 13 August 2011 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

poor fallene, she was not built for this game and project runway ain't no etsy store. dude who was her partner needs to get kicked off soon, after that pee-pad napkin dress & horrible tutu.

watching the models walk was really discomforting and weird, i guess we have learned that nothing can make a stilt-lady look sexy if she's lumbering around like an AT-AT in drag

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Monday, 15 August 2011 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

polyphonic, Friday, 19 August 2011 06:47 (fourteen years ago)

I don't like any of these designers so far.

If she could actually sew, Anya would be my favourite because she has an unfailingly great eye for what looks good AND interesting, which comes as much from her beauty queen/modeling background as anything else. But her lack of training is going to let her down sooner or later.

davon cuul II (m bison), Saturday, 20 August 2011 01:49 (fourteen years ago)

i love nina garcia but i thought that challenge kind of set the episode up for boring outfits because she dresses like a normal person, not a runway model. or it's possible that these designers kind of suck? anyway, two boring episodes in a row.

horseshoe, Saturday, 20 August 2011 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

I rewatched the runway. I think trucker girl's downfall was in the construction. There was a couple diagonal seams and the hemline was diagonal too (the two ends didn't match up). The orange kept the dress-coat from being boring. Going up only halfway on the left arm was a nice touch. The grey and dark grey looked fine but I think that using two greys hurt her. However they were sort of sporty like the orange stripe because they were seperated vertically as well.

I think that a few touch-ups could of put this dress-coat in the top 3. She should of grabbed a blue and a light blue...

stop listening to the lyrics so much. you're ruining music (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 20 August 2011 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

Kimberley's pants were bangin'...and I loved the top. But I kinda liked Anya's jumper too...overall though def a snooze challenge

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 20 August 2011 22:00 (fourteen years ago)

I'm glad Kimberley won. She got her shit done on time, unlike Anya.

I liked how the designers helped each other out. Cooperation!!!

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 20 August 2011 23:02 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i liked that, too, and when victor complained about it, i was like how sour do you have to be to call helping people cheating?

horseshoe, Saturday, 20 August 2011 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

And maybe, despite my better instincts, I like the rich blonde?

ilx poster and keen dairy observer (Jenny), Saturday, 20 August 2011 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

I *kind* of felt Victor though...if it wasn't for blondie's finishing maybe Anya's piece wouldn't have been so high up?...but it was hard to tell how much was done. Her concept and the design and color were so right on though, I don't really fault her too much for accepting help. But Kimberly's tailoring was A+

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 21 August 2011 07:20 (fourteen years ago)

those pants were snug as a hug. the way they clinged to the model's buttox was a thing of amazement and wonder

I have completely missed this season bcz I've been traveling but I totally just sat around Abbott's apt all afternoon and watched them all. Johnny Ryan is way adorable and I hope he goes far. I hated the tan personal-trainer guy from day one ("have 2 b kool/have 2 cut the sleeves off of my scrubz/I am so fab!!!") but now I really like him a lot (the colorblocked dress he did for the Nina challenge srsly should have won IMO). I loved Bert from day one but now I really hate him a lot (and Viktor too, though his black two-piece was S T E L L A R). Anya's a treat, but her lack of skills are going to bite her in the ass at some point. Also, I think it was sorta shady she had to have 3 diff ppl help/guide her. I really like Olivier too and I mean come on, dude lived in London for 6 yrs and it's not totally shocking that he's developed a bit of an accent and also he's humble and sort of weird. I think he's a cinch for the top 3. Also RIP Amy Poehler :(

If I haven't called your name I don't like you very much; you can leave the runway.

Lamp, Saturday, 27 August 2011 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

man i love anthony ryan but he really should have gone home. hate bert, hate josh, this episode was "good" in the sense of dramatic but another stupid challenge. can't they be allowed to design interesting clothes at some point?

josh c. seems like a nice dude, but i did not understand why the judges liked his backpack tshirt outfit.

horseshoe, Saturday, 27 August 2011 20:55 (fourteen years ago)

I hated that Josh was such a jerk and then got praise from the judges for being a good team leader and won an extra victory. Blech.

Yeah on garment alone Anthony C should have been gone but seriously if the judges gave Josh an extra win and sent AC home after Bert was such a toolbag I probably would have stopped watching.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 27 August 2011 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

I hated that Josh was such a jerk and then got praise from the judges for being a good team leader and won an extra victory. Blech.

yeah that was a seriously gross moment for me. the whole time the challenge was going on, i was thinking, a good leader gets the best out of his team by listening to everyone and taking them seriously, and i buy that josh and anya have different taste than becky, but they never really seemed to take her seriously for a moment. her designs haven't stood out for me so far, but everything she said about how they were treating her was otm. there is a really gross middle-school vibe to the way these designers interact.

horseshoe, Saturday, 27 August 2011 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

can't they be allowed to design interesting clothes at some point?

idg why the show wont allow then like an extra day to make clothes... the whole 'lol make three outfits in four hours' garbage was so stupid and its obv why they needed to give then the extra five hours but id like a multi-day challenge

bert is obv a terrible person but every1 in this season seems so smug and terrible and incompetent that i kinda relish him just delivering this stonefaced disdain like hes just clarifying what pos designers they are, deal with it style.

Lamp, Saturday, 27 August 2011 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

yeah not having enough time to design is part of it. also, design an outfit to go with heidi klum's new balance sneaker line? really?

horseshoe, Saturday, 27 August 2011 21:17 (fourteen years ago)

Anya seems like such a sweetheart with a good eye, really wish she had taken a year or more to learn the craft before applying for the show.

he acts so entitled, but his designs are really not very good. And it seemed like he won on the back of Anya's dress which kind of annoyed me.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 04:58 (fourteen years ago)

i rly liked cecilia, but i think i understand why she decided to leave. :/

✇ (Tape Store), Sunday, 28 August 2011 06:21 (fourteen years ago)

VG totally OTM; I mean, flat-out: Josh won for a dress that Anya designed. That's some BS. I was also pretty disgusted with his behavior, and sure, he apologized and all, but only because he sort of assholed himself into a rut. I just imagine how if (when) he does the same thing IRL outside of a TV show, he doesn't feel remorseful or apologize because he doesn't have to. Totally smug and entitled.

I was about to cry if Anthony Ryan got sent home, and I actually teared up a bit when he was in. I can't remember loathing someone on PR as much as I loathe Bert. Like, him JUMPING THE FUCK UP AND DOWN and giggling when they were picking apart Laura's dress, and also just watching the way he argues with people is so "talk to the hand/I know you are but what am I" etc. Like, you can be a next-level monster and at least be witty/articulate at the same time, but Bert's just a fucking six-year-old in almost every way imaginable. I super hope he has some sort of emotional breakdown on the show and stops being a prick and maybe opens up to people.

Cass McCars (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 August 2011 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

Also Becky's whole "May I fetch you some coffee? I"ll be right back" bit was prob the #1 lulziest moment of the season thus far.

Is anyone else watching online ("Oooh, see what Anandra did??")? The streams on the Lifetime website are clocking in at around 64 minutes (with maybe 3 or 4 minutes worth of advertisements), but from what it looks like from their TV schedule, they're airing in 1-hour time slots (which means roughly 40 minutes of footage with 20 minutes of commercial time)? Are the web streams edited with extra footage or what?

Cass McCars (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 August 2011 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

Cass McCars (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 August 2011 18:28 (fourteen years ago)

When it switched to Lifetime, I think. Maybe?

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

Between Bert and Josh I can't really tell who is the worst. Josh flounces around that workroom like it's backstage on opening night but it's like he's just there for the catty backtalk and doesn't have a damn thing to show for all of his attitude. The only thing in Bert's favor is that he has some talent, but so far all I've seen is 900 cocktail dresses from him so I don't know if that's his limit, or he's holding back or what. As a human being he seems horribly insecure and petty and cowardly and rude. I liked him a lot in that first episode but now I want to punch him.

Anthony Ryan is lovely and I hope he goes far, because aside from his tragic look this week he does seem pretty talented. And his southern accent is to die for. <3

i kept trying to remind myself that they could just be giving him the bitch edit but then when he said he couldn't remember anthony ryan's name because he only remembers impressive people or whatever i was like oh hell, no.

horseshoe, Sunday, 28 August 2011 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

his little asides during judging were enough to confirm he's a terrible person, editing or not.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure is giving the editors an embarrassment of riches.

Until Bert throws a cat an ex, though, Kenley still is Worst Human Ever.

c("c) (Leee), Sunday, 28 August 2011 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

good call there

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

So far Bert hasn't even thrown Tim's suggestions back in his face, either.

c("c) (Leee), Sunday, 28 August 2011 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

Oooh but I bet that's coming.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

I can't remember loathing someone on PR as much as I loathe Bert.

i would also like to submit gretchen and victorya for consideration.

slugbuggy, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

I don't remember much re: Victorya but Gretchen was a different kind of awful. She meant well and was intelligent and had good design, but she wasn't childish and malicious and impish the way Bert is.

Cass McCars (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:19 (fourteen years ago)

Bert is sort of funny.

Jeff, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:21 (fourteen years ago)

Bert seems like he would throw a fit if you put out the wrong napkins with dinner.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:25 (fourteen years ago)

eh i think that bert is pretty terrible, i'm sure he has reasons to not like young whippersnappers in the work room but you know, it's a competition reality show and he doesn't seem to think he has to actually compete with them

elmo argonaut, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:52 (fourteen years ago)

^^ yeah bert making the other designers feel like shit doesnt bother me, most of them need to feel like shit more often imo but his general disdain for the competition itself and his 'im great, this is what i do, take it or leave it' attitude bugs me. like if you're above making shit of pet supplies than go make boring dresses for calvin klein and dont go on this show

Lamp, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:55 (fourteen years ago)

let's face it, he's a sour old queen and there's nothing gonna change him at this point, and while the work he's shown is pretty well made and fitted, it's all pretty dull and dated from a design perspective

elmo argonaut, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:58 (fourteen years ago)

like, oh what a tasteful little bill blass cocktail dress... again

elmo argonaut, Sunday, 28 August 2011 21:59 (fourteen years ago)

exactly. does he even know there are pants?

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:03 (fourteen years ago)

Pants are insignificant. Therefore, he need not remember the existence of pants.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:05 (fourteen years ago)

"I laugh in the face of pants. Behold my cocktail dress of zzzzz"

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

gretchen had a tracy flick quality to her, in an "arguing with the teacher to get her b+ turned into an a- because it would ruin her gpa" kind of way. i don't think was was actually mean or spiteful towards anyone, other than she couldn't understand why she wasn't always winning so it had to be somebody else's fault somehow.

victorya, i can't remember any specific incidences of her behavior but iirc she was exactly like what elmo and lamp are saying about bert, didn't get the "television" aspect of "reality television" and was just openly hateful about everyone and everything involved in the process.

slugbuggy, Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:22 (fourteen years ago)

sort of want to see Bert fall off the wagon and smack Josh while Oliver has another panic attack

Darin, Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:22 (fourteen years ago)

Wow, I don't remember Victorya at all. Apparently, I have scrubbed her from my head. Gretchen was totally self-absorbed ("Guys, we're making PR history here"), but yeah, didn't have the malice -- Ivy was equally invested in herself and DID have malice.

Recall how Bert says at some point that he's loved every garment he's made so far on the show? Does that include his pet challenge design, where he admitted on the runway that he was fortunate to have

c("c) (Leee), Sunday, 28 August 2011 22:26 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I'm surprised they let him get away with that with nothing but a chuckle and a slap on the wrist.

I totally forgot about Ivy! She was so hateful. I despised her and also Michael Costello but Bert seems decidedly worse in a way.

I think Anthony C is pretty adorable but I couldn't remember his name for the first few episodes (like Bert lol) and a couple of times I have referred to him mentally as "Cancer Boy" and then I felt really bad.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Monday, 29 August 2011 01:19 (fourteen years ago)

(pssst his name doesn't have a "C" in it. Unless you're calling him "Anthony Cancer")

Cass McCars (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 29 August 2011 01:25 (fourteen years ago)

oh no... also guilty lols...

I guess I am conflating Josh C and Anthony C WHY DO I HAVE TO REMEMBER THE NAMES OF THESE INSIGNIFICANT PEOPLE????

God I am a terrible person, aren't I? I'm just going to cheer for Bert from now on.

viktor's got some serious chops, i can see him making it far, his entries the past 2 weeks have been pretty great. kimberly is a contender, too. and despite his shitty leadership, weak output, and undeserved win this week, josh c could make it if he resists his bedazzling impulses and learns to edit his designs and style his models in a more sophisticated manner

elmo argonaut, Monday, 29 August 2011 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

I like anya's top hair. I hope it wins.

Jeff, Monday, 29 August 2011 15:53 (fourteen years ago)

also i cannot understand how anya's design got a win, the judges are grading on a serious curve wrt her sewing abilities. the stripe & zipper on her maxi dress were terribly finished and the judges would have sneered with disgust at such a simple garment being so poorly executed in any past season. she's got good design & styling instincts but i am hoping her grace period is coming to a close.

elmo argonaut, Monday, 29 August 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)

thought it was a little lame that josh c was rewarded for being all "you are not cool and not pretty" to becky throughout that last ep, but then again, i guess that's the fashion world in a nutshell?

tylerw, Monday, 29 August 2011 15:58 (fourteen years ago)

xp, more like a maxi pad dress amirite?

that's cute, but it's WRONG (CaptainLorax), Monday, 29 August 2011 20:32 (fourteen years ago)

i think oliver might be the tao lin of fashion

berts was godawful; so was beckys

johnny crunch, Friday, 2 September 2011 06:03 (fourteen years ago)

Bert's was hoorrrrrrrible. Oliver's looked like she was just draped with an assortment of bedlinen.

I'm glad Anthony won because I wouldn't have been able to stand smug terrible diva Josh winning. And him taking credit for Becky's creativity was such an eyeroll. He's the worst.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 2 September 2011 07:25 (fourteen years ago)

I <3 Anthony Ryan so so much but srsly his dress looked like it was falling apart and unfinished and i'm stunned they loved it. And BERT'S WAS GROSS!!! Those colors!!! OMG 80's on LSD, arts and crafts, etc. Also why are there so many team challenges for chrisskaes? It's like they saw what a mess the first one was and were all WHOA DRAMA AND RATINGS LET'S DO THIS EVERY OTHER WEEK.

The-Dreams That Money Can Buy (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 2 September 2011 19:26 (fourteen years ago)

I <3 Anthony Ryan so so much but srsly his dress looked like it was falling apart and unfinished and i'm stunned they loved it.

yeah i have to agree. kenneth cole was otm, it was not well-executed. i love anthony ryan though he is so sweet!

you know, in an early stage of Bert's design i thought it was sort of rad, but the finished product was wack. also was irritated with project runway editors for trying to humanize Bert this episode, what motivated his sudden i need to stop being an asshole conviction?

horseshoe, Friday, 2 September 2011 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

Viktor and Kimberly soooo jobbed, totally deserved to be top 3. And of the actual top 3, Laura got shafted. Love Anthony Ryan, but yeah, the application looked slapped on esp. with the TV closeups. From a distance though, it looks pretty striking.

Liked Josh M's top, but he got it from McQueen, didn't he?

c("c) (Leee), Sunday, 4 September 2011 01:28 (fourteen years ago)

Finally a team challenge that did not produce an endless runway of fug.

Team Chaos brought it imo. That said, Anya's was the winning design? Really? Viktor robbed again.

And Josh M needs to go away forever.

Roz, Saturday, 10 September 2011 05:48 (fourteen years ago)

^^^YES to all of that

Viktor killed it.

✇ (Tape Store), Saturday, 10 September 2011 05:53 (fourteen years ago)

Josh is like everything awful wrapped up in a horrible cheerful Copacobana shirt. I hate him so much he makes me not want to watch. Ugh.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 10 September 2011 09:36 (fourteen years ago)

Anya's dress shouldn't have won in a design contest, but I will say that was the first article of clothing anybody has sent down the runway that I actually wanted to wear, as in I sincerely hope that she produces that in plus sizes because I would wear the shit out of it. So by my personal metric, at this point Anya should win the whole season.

Josh is beyond even being a good reality TV villain. There's no "love to hate" feeling watching him. He just makes me angry and kind of sick to my stomach because he's so awful and unpleasant. Like, I don't even want him in my living room via the miracle of television. If that's editing, the editors should be fired. If that's really how Josh is, the casting director should be exiled.

RIP Becky. I liked you because you were like me, but your stuff was pretty boring. Also you said "chit chatting" and everybody who says "chit chatting" comes across like a prig.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 10 September 2011 14:57 (fourteen years ago)

Viktor really, really should have won, but I have to say, Anya's eye has been consistently good. She always makes cute things.

I liked Becky, too, mostly because she was very good at articulating what a jerk Josh could be. But yeah, her outfit was bad.

Rachel Roy + Rose Byrne might be my fave guest judges ever.

horseshoe, Saturday, 10 September 2011 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

also omg what were Josh's team thinking with that theme and those prints? The blond lady actually cracked me up when she was like, "clocks? what is that?" but she should have spoken up! Kimberly also cracked me up by being the only team member who recognized how heinous the prints they came up with were.

horseshoe, Saturday, 10 September 2011 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

also if your suggestion is 'sea amoebas' than yknow, mb try harder

Lamp, Saturday, 10 September 2011 15:19 (fourteen years ago)

xp yes kimberly is v smart

id say top 3 will be oliver, kimberly, anya

although viktor, anthony ryan, blonde lady, even josh for a villian and hes been mostly solid also, could all make it...idk all of a sudden there are like a bunch of decent designers here?

johnny crunch, Saturday, 10 September 2011 15:28 (fourteen years ago)

I know! I was actively disinterested in the "avant garde" episode. I don't even think I paid attention during the runway show. Now I care a little bit.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 10 September 2011 15:36 (fourteen years ago)

I think Anya, Anthony Ryan and Viktor/Oliver/Laura will be top 3.

Anya's dress shouldn't have won in a design contest, but I will say that was the first article of clothing anybody has sent down the runway that I actually wanted to wear

Yeah this, pretty much. It's been said, but she does have great style and Bryce should've used the shorts she wore this ep as a template for the awful pair he made in the end.

Still, if her outfit was the first this season I actually wanted to wear, Viktor's was the first that actually made me go "wow" (which is frankly a little sad considering we've already had an avantgarde challenge and a stiltwalker challenge).

Roz, Saturday, 10 September 2011 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

I hope Josh goes soon. I reached a point early in that episode where I was like, "Do I really need to be watching this show at all"? He's why I *don't* watch other reality shows. Because I don't want that level of crazy drama. I want to see people make clothes. I don't want to see them dump intestines all over the floor and cry like babies.

So is Anya being a rookie at sewing just a red herring now? Or has it not been as much of an issue because of all the team challenges?

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 10 September 2011 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

Everyone went with b&w, so I assume that was a printing limitation, but couldn't they dye them?

polyphonic, Saturday, 10 September 2011 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i would have liked more color

horseshoe, Saturday, 10 September 2011 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

God that number print was so horrible. All their prints bummed me out but that one was like Beverly's Crafts $5 bargain bin circa 1991

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 10 September 2011 19:47 (fourteen years ago)

Everything looked terrible for Nuts and Bolts. Becky should of stayed just because mall clothes are better than ugly innovative design clothes. Josh's gear coat would of been better as a single top where the floppy parts could of been stitched together (and the back had odd unconnected flappy parts as well). Josh has too much of a thing for coats with holes or strips. The dangly coat thing he had on another episode looked way more flamboyant than fashionable

that's cute, but it's WRONG (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:19 (fourteen years ago)

I was puzzled about how the length of Burt's dress was good. That looked like ass on the tall, slim model.

Speaking of models, Victor's model walks like a drunk Clydesdale. Is that a thing now?

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:46 (fourteen years ago)

i think Josh complimented Burt on the length of the dress, but i got the impression somehow that the judges thought it should have been shorter. judges otm.

horseshoe, Saturday, 10 September 2011 20:48 (fourteen years ago)

Josh was probably sabotaging Burt by encouraging that length.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 10 September 2011 21:39 (fourteen years ago)

Speaking of models, Victor's model walks like a drunk Clydesdale. Is that a thing now?

Yeah, she has this short-necked slouch going on, which bugs me to no end. It must be a thing because she's still around. (Also RIP Models of the Runway, even if I'm the only one who misses it.)

i think Josh complimented Burt on the length of the dress, but i got the impression somehow that the judges thought it should have been shorter. judges otm.

Anya also called it terrible during the runway show.

Funny that for all his affectations, Olivier pronounces his name like "Oliver" instead of the Frenchy way.

It was sad watching Becky go :( but her outfit really was the most boring. And yeah, I thought the same thing re: Josh re: overboard drama that's making the show un-fun. I also actually thought the EXACT same thing abt Anya's dress, like "omg I wish I could wear that"

yeah he's not even very funny, which is what i look for in a reality tv villain. he's just kinda cringe-y.
anyway, becky seemed ok, but really had trouble presenting anything worthwhile on the runway. she's probably a good designer, just not very good at the challenges.

If he wasn't going to win, then the judges should've given it to Anya. I don't revile Josh like you guys do, and his look was very classy, but his didn't wasn't the least bit interesting compared to Anya's (much less Viktor's), plus when Laura said it looked like his client was going to a funeral, that was the only thing I could see.

Leee, Lord of Wtfomgham (Leee), Saturday, 17 September 2011 21:53 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I didn't think Josh should have been rewarded just for being simple. And that's kind of what it was. It was a cute dress but it was no less off the rack than Bert's.

I was lol'ing so hard over Oliver's terror of "OMG BOOOOOBS!!!" He's such a weirdo. SUCH a weirdo.

I didn't like the sleeve on Anya's thing. I feel like Viktor should have won.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 18 September 2011 04:51 (fourteen years ago)

I feel like Viktor should have won about 13143223254 challenges by now.

Oliver is like the very worst stereotype of fashion-y people come to life - "I don't want boobs, I just want them to be flat, I wish they'd just shut up and wear what I tell them to." Who knew there was such a monster in that precious little head?

Roz, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

Oliver seems insane. and yeah, Viktor really should have won. again.

horseshoe, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:21 (fourteen years ago)

Olvieieier only wants to dress boards. As in literal pieces of wood purchased from Home Depot. Flat, boobless, don't talk back.

The challenges where the designers have to make clothes for non-models and they all shit themselves in terror about how faaaaaat everybody is just make me sad.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:39 (fourteen years ago)

i think this batch of designers is particularly bad about that. maybe they just lack experience? and are also assholes? i feel like in previous seasons i've watched there was at least one designer who had made plus-size clothing previously or was fat him or herself and some level of familiarity with making clothes for regular people as opposed to models existed. (this episode had me missing Korto, for example.) i mean, none of those women was even fat, but the designers struggled with accommodating their bodies. with the exception of Bert, i guess.

horseshoe, Sunday, 18 September 2011 16:55 (fourteen years ago)

Korto <3

Roz, Sunday, 18 September 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

I liked that the woman went full-on Barbie, but I wish the colour of the dress had been a bit brighter, seemed muddy?
Lots of drama for Olivier, ummm forget her name but the other girl who was sewing right to the end.. just to hit the middle?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 12:54 (fourteen years ago)

Also, TLo call Olivier "Precious Moments" which I think is 100%

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 12:54 (fourteen years ago)

Also, liked that big hairy dude seemed to know his wife's style better than any of the more groomed men. Even if it did result in a cheerleader uniform - I enjoyed the dress but can see the criticism there.

With Josh's, I think the neat thing was that the dress could be any colour fabric and/or lace trim and all reasonable colour combinations would have looked really sharp. Like the 'model,' I want all the colours. She was so cute when they suggested it could be another colour. Did she say 'more dresses!!!'?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 20 September 2011 12:57 (fourteen years ago)

What was that amazing line Olivier spat out? "These boobs... are such a problem to me"

Sandra Bullock violently stabbing a TV dinner (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 04:05 (fourteen years ago)

"These boobs, to me, are trouble."

actually my favourite part of that was him asking Tim Gunn about double-D cups, and Tim's deadpan reply. "I just know it's a bra-size, I don't have any personal experience with it, Oliver."

(Lol but also kinda sad - here are two dudes who make clothes for women and they have no idea what women's bodies are all about. :/)

Roz, Wednesday, 21 September 2011 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

The worst was Josh whining about how haaaard it was to design clothes for non-models. Like, uhhhh....

Sandra Bullock violently stabbing a TV dinner (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

For real. It's not like there are enough models or people shaped like models to financially support you, homie. You're going to have to design for the lumpy, misshapen rest of us if you want to rely on clothing design as your main source of income.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Wednesday, 21 September 2011 15:36 (fourteen years ago)

johnny crunch, Friday, 23 September 2011 23:32 (fourteen years ago)

So was this challenge to make Widespread Panic look like a bunch of assholes?

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 24 September 2011 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

Going back some:

Heidi revealed that she didn't like [Victor] when he worked with Bert. Ridiculous!

― licking your challops (Tape Store), Saturday, September 17, 2011 2:35 PM Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink

Like, did they not hear about how Josh picked a fight with Bert as well?

Anyway, so many unintentional lolz, esp. the designers calling this band "rock stars," or Viktor saying, "I love Rolling Stone, and Marie Claire."

this was an awful challenge tho

otm.

Leee, Lord of Wtfomgham (Leee), Saturday, 24 September 2011 21:21 (fourteen years ago)

And I know that the bumper was made with some gratuitous editing, but the part where Tim worries about the exposed zipper drawing attention to the guitarist's crotch, and Josh is all, "IKR???" is spittake-worthy.

johnny crunch, Friday, 30 September 2011 00:15 (fourteen years ago)

viktor shouldve won again imo
lol @ joshua not knowing what the 70s are
bird challenge next week could be horrific

johnny crunch, Friday, 30 September 2011 02:44 (fourteen years ago)

anthony ryan had been falling down on the job a lot recently and i think he deserved to go, but he was such a doll! though viktor once again did an amazing job of pulling together well-made stuff, i was okay with his not winning this week. there was something kind of blah about his outfits, maybe just the palette. if you get to do the 70s and don't use color it seems like kind of a waste to me. my favorite was bert's roller-disco outfit tbh; that's the 70s aesthetic i love. josh's pants were one of the ugliest things ever; wtf?

horseshoe, Friday, 30 September 2011 02:47 (fourteen years ago)

i was okay with anya winning; that jumpsuit was really cute. i think she is maybe not as talented with tailoring/execution as Viktor but her taste/vision is my favorite of the remaining designers. also it was the 70s challenge! she looks so 70s all the time!

horseshoe, Friday, 30 September 2011 02:48 (fourteen years ago)

Thought josh should've gone but I get why they'd wanna keep drama-rama around a bit longer.
l
must say that anya reallly impresses me, even with her lack of skills - happy that she won. Loved that jumpsuit, and I hate jumpsuits usually.
really liked bert's cute little dress too.

Roz, Friday, 30 September 2011 10:04 (fourteen years ago)

what's that stray l doing there? woops

Roz, Friday, 30 September 2011 10:05 (fourteen years ago)

I don't know. The "Anya, who taught herself to sew four months ago and is also beautiful, loses her money and makes it work* and wins omg" felt like blatant producer manipulation, especially when you compare her stuff to Bert's (agree something about Victor's was a little flat) and ESPECIALLY when the Piper Lime lady is like "oh hey Bert we're going to make your look, too, because it will actually sell and isn't just a giant pair of pants made out of a fabric Heidi liked."

*or not really, IMO.

Meh.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 1 October 2011 02:44 (fourteen years ago)

I mean, look at this:

http://www.mylifetime.com/movies/sites/mylifetime.com/files/images/2011/09/29/pr9-ep10-anyaheidi.jpg

It's fine, but it doesn't take much skill to make and since when does "fine" win challenges this late in the game? Since it makes a good store, I guess, which bums me out bc I liked PR to be about the clothes more than the story.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Saturday, 1 October 2011 02:48 (fourteen years ago)

Also Heidi could be standing in the corner of my apartment in that picture.

Josh's outfit made my eyes vomit. WTF

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 1 October 2011 03:17 (fourteen years ago)

anthony ryan had been falling down on the job a lot recently and i think he deserved to go, but he was such a doll!

This otm so much! Kind of though it was interesting how much they bagged on the granola-ness of his looks, considering the winner of the previous season.

Josh's outfit made my eyes vomit. WTF

I actually liked the Star Trek: The Next Generation top! But that's just me mixing up my nerderies.

This episode is lolzy with amazing Nina faces, that look she had when she saw the back of Josh's face needs to become a gif, as does her face when Anthony Ryan said that the '70s was all about weed smoke to him.

Predictions for top 3:
Viktor (duh)
Bert (from the edit he's getting, especially lately -- wish we'd gotten more of Dirty Berty than Douchebag Bert)
Kimberly (last spot is a tossup; at one point I thought that Josh was a lock because the judges seemed to love him, but Anya has gotten mad camera time and judge praise, and I'd be curious to see what she can design given more time, but realistically, Kimberly ought to be in over her)

Leee, Lord of Wtfomgham (Leee), Saturday, 1 October 2011 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

thought Anya was being a total bitch not helping out Josh after she got so much help before but at the same time loooooooooooool

judges need to get over their collective girlcrush on anya tho

Roz, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 04:24 (fourteen years ago)

I just wish ONE of the judges had looked at Anya's dress a little more and said, 'um...so how does one actually get INTO the dress, Anya?'. I mean, I know that's not how they judge and yes it's Project RUNWAY not Project Seamstress but holy fuck. My hope against hope is that if Anya does make it to the final 3, the person who can actually sew worth a damn amongst the final 3 actually wins. Please for the love of god make that be so.

This challenge was set up very strangely. Make 2 dresses but only put out one?

And can I please see some individual challenges now. Jesus.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 04:28 (fourteen years ago)

Can I just say that I loved when Tim gave Kimberly a hug...so sweet and it was SO the right thing to do. You could tell that she just needed to hear a few encouraging words from the Gunn and she'd get her mojo.

i haven't watched the most recent episode, though.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:00 (fourteen years ago)

I don't begrudge her win quite as much this time, but that's because nothing else looked interesting to me so I could at least see where the judges were coming from. I hated the dress she made (it looked vaguely labial to me, with a big vertical smile pleat down the front) but honestly I kind of just don't care anymore.

Like I'm as bothered by the sudden shift to Petty Conniving Beauty Queen Who Can't Sew as I was by the whole Pretty Sweet Designer Who Can't Sew, because she should have been auf'ed weeks ago based on her work. Keep people around for drama/plot development, fine, but don't make it so f'n obvious. It's insulting.

pullapartsquirrel (Jenny), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

surm, Saturday, 22 October 2011 02:28 (fourteen years ago)

Thought Josh's three looks were the best but thinking that based on an entire collection that Viktor will take it home.

polyphonic, Saturday, 22 October 2011 02:30 (fourteen years ago)

ugh viktor's looks were stupid except for the 2 prints he used which were nice. otherwise it looked like banana republic. josh's were definitely the best, except for the back of that dress.

surm, Saturday, 22 October 2011 02:33 (fourteen years ago)

Josh grabbed the 3 things with the most black - all of which were made with him wearing "I must make things less cheap looking" glasses that Tim Gunn gave him. The first coat and shirt were rockin. The second outfit was decent but the top collar thing reminded me of a plastic dog harness. The last outfit was a terrible idea coming from an absolutely terrible taste level. Josh would be nowhere without the critiques he received this season and style influence from the other designers

ℓ٥ﻻ ﻉ√٥υ (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 22 October 2011 03:22 (fourteen years ago)

That was so lame. That gold dress was...I can't even. Even from the runway walk you could see the hand stitches in what were barely even pleats...and up close you could see how badly she'd oversteamed the fabric. The swimsuit was pretty bad. This season has been a joke, they've spoonfed Anya the whole way.

and WTF was Kimberley's collection. I don't even WANT to see the rest of it.

Josh's jumper-gown was LOLOLOL "Olivia Newton John pants"

I think they have 3 or 5 days?

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 23 October 2011 02:59 (fourteen years ago)

I thought three of them had at least one look that blew me away -- I'm just going to say I loved Josh's last look coming AND going, i.e. I have no taste -- and Anya was the clear weak-link. I love Anya, but yeah, I'm kind of fearing another Mondo wuz robbed thing.

BTW, I wondered the other day, does Tim or anyone else from the show visit the decoy designers at all, just to make their collections look presentable? (Also, wondering if Anya got to the first top 4 simply because Tim wanted to go to the Caribbean.)

foxes freud (Leee), Sunday, 23 October 2011 05:32 (fourteen years ago)

It pains me to say it bcz I reely adaw her soh soh moch but like srsly Anya should not be in the final 4, she's clearly not going to win, and the producer manipulation is, as stated above, insultingly blatant. Can't she just get her own goddamn show? Please?

hounds heidegger (Leee), Wednesday, 26 October 2011 03:31 (fourteen years ago)

Of the designers that didn't make it to the final four, Barbie's collection is the best . Oliver's is weird (and not a good weird). Bert's is classy/plain and occasionally old fashioned (and he has a couple goddess dresses). Bryce shows that he shouldn't of made it so far. And Anthony Ryan jumps on the Aztec print/trapezoidal cut bandwagon (his ugly closer made me close my eyes)

Quite a few of the designers have see-through tops. Is this an in-thing right now?

yeah it seems pretty "off" at the moment, like they're training interns in the editing room? but part of the weirdness is having it be so similar in format to the real PR, but w/o the familiar recurring faces -- gunn, klum, garcia, etc. also, i guess just the boring-ness of already knowing each designers' personality style. i dunno, i'll stick with it!

tylerw, Thursday, 19 January 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

Joanna or whatever her name is, Snow Queen, seems kind of terrified whenever she engages with the designers in the sewing room, like she's going to sprint off to the bathroom & wash her hands

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 19 January 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)

ha, with her, i find myself wishing Tilda Swinton was the "mentor" ... that'd make things interesting

24 Hour Catwalk > Project Runway All-Stars

polyphonic, Thursday, 19 January 2012 17:48 (thirteen years ago)

24 hr catwalk is kindof a trip

"designers must incorporate the clown mask"

alexa chung is dope tho

johnny crunch, Saturday, 21 January 2012 00:44 (thirteen years ago)

indashio is the worst person

johnny crunch, Saturday, 21 January 2012 01:11 (thirteen years ago)

This was such a weird episode, half-surreal, half-earnest. However, I couldn't tell if Not-Tim Gunn was sincere or ashamed and debased out of her English mind when she was talking about the international superstar Miss Piggy.

The worst thing about having Michael C. as an All-Star is that Ivy is too weak a designer to have around so as to strip away his unctuousness.

lEEE (Leee), Sunday, 22 January 2012 07:11 (thirteen years ago)

His terrible 'do you have a date' to Miss Piggy, I'm sure even she gave him an eyeroll.
Austin's dress with those bows was all kinds of wtf. How was that ever not going to be a bad idea.

I finally realized what Kenley's laugh reminds me of!
"You ever hear of a ritual killing? Aheheehehehehe"

"very sarah jessica parker circa 1999 meets 2002....but futuristic"

johnny crunch, Friday, 3 February 2012 23:08 (thirteen years ago)

This season is the worst, just not interesting at all.

"very sarah jessica parker circa 1999 meets 2002....but futuristic"

idk what's more remarkable: that anyone would even actually say this, or that this garbage talk actually represents a communicable idea

the occasional showstopper dress aside, michael is p the worst imho

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Saturday, 4 February 2012 01:19 (thirteen years ago)

I dunno, I loved this episode, notwithstanding Anthony going home. TT_TT He brought so many lolz, he will be missed.

omar leeettle (Leee), Saturday, 4 February 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

them having to get clothes from ppl was p classic

thought jerrell prob shouldve gone, ya will miss anthony - lol @ his comeback to being questioned abt getting that dude's shirt ~ theres no accounting for how much inspiration matters!

johnny crunch, Saturday, 4 February 2012 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

I love how the only criticism of Mondo's was "it's too styled". Really.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 5 February 2012 01:11 (thirteen years ago)

Jerrell's look really should've been styled with a big fruit turban, no?

Anthony going up to people on the street and talking them out of their clothes -- this is a reality waiting to happen, no? Get on it, Lifetime/Bravo!!!

I was dearly hoping that at the beginning of the challenge, one of the designers would ask not-Hodi for her clothes. /straight dood

Clearly this "all-star" season is a test run to see if the PR brand can thrive without Hodi/Tim/Neeners/Kors/et al.

omar leeettle (Leee), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:04 (thirteen years ago)

I love how Jerrell was all "imma be in the top 3!!"

i dont want to talk about Michael's whatever-that-was except to say NO

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:07 (thirteen years ago)

really dont have a prob w/ the replacement judges but timothy gunn is essential

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:14 (thirteen years ago)

Tim Gunn, I mss him ;_;

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)

miss, even

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)

tbh I do not actually miss the regular ProjRun crew -- I think the commentary this season is much more insightful and thoughful, the mentor lady is giving better critiques than Gunn has in years, and the judging is thankfully not focused on repetitive "DISCO SNOWBEAST ON PROMNIGHT" michael kors zingers. i don't like not-heidi but whatev

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:46 (thirteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

Jerrell wasn't THIS tacky in his original season, was he?!

omar 13337713 (Leee), Monday, 27 February 2012 05:19 (thirteen years ago)

Austin = "The Silent Killer" hahah

This was kind of a cool challenge. Was bummed that Mondo didn't really get it together. I'm kind of glad Jerrell is gone, I just think he has really bad taste. He gets super caught up in the concept and is kind of looking at the model like a clothes horse, like "look what I can make" instead of "look at how good she looks"! But the one thing I did always like was his commmitment to his design. Even if it was the fugliest thing on the planet, he would happily stand by it.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 2 March 2012 16:27 (thirteen years ago)

So, sausagefest.

Johnny Favre (Leee), Friday, 16 March 2012 04:55 (thirteen years ago)

Okay I haven't even finished watching the finale yet but the Marie Claire exec assistant wearing a BASEBALL CAP indoors made me want to smash something.

As you were.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 16 March 2012 05:30 (thirteen years ago)

That's why he's working at Marie Claire rather than Vogue, no?

Johnny Favre (Leee), Sunday, 18 March 2012 00:38 (thirteen years ago)

I guess. Maybe the regular guy is on vacation and they've got the bike messenger pulling double duty.

Mondo was kind of a dick this episode. It was kind of disappointing. Keen to see his collection though, loved the Rorschach prints he made.

Major LOLs at Anthony's reaction to Austin's "Fragonard, Madame de Pompadour meets 21st century rock-star, Williamsburg Hasidic gentleman" I love Austin's work for the most part normally but I have a feeling his collection is going to be O_o
Those bloomer things are just...scary

Michael, I have no idea. But yes let's make another draped white dress as your final piece, just to remind everyone 'Here comes Drapey Ole Michael' ffs

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 18 March 2012 00:48 (thirteen years ago)

Hopefully that'll be Michael's downfall.

zomg Anthony, he should have had permanent immunity or something, every other thing he said was lol.

Mondo was in his own headspace, and keeping in mind the editing, I don't really see what was outrageous about his behavior. He's not really under any obligation to interact nicely with the other contestants, and was working through his own malaise.

I am likewise curious, though, to see his crazypants inspired crazy pants, though I also want to see the rest of Austin's pieces (I'm still on a buzz from his rave gotherina from a couple challenges ago). I think the bloomers are for two models to wear at once, conjoined-twins stylee.

Johnny Favre (Leee), Sunday, 18 March 2012 00:59 (thirteen years ago)

hahah

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 18 March 2012 01:04 (thirteen years ago)

yeah I dunno, I get that Mondo's tired and whatever but he was just so sulky and pouty I was kinda annoyed.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 18 March 2012 01:05 (thirteen years ago)

That one guy rated "best dressed man" was wearing a baseball cap when he was judging... not to excuse the white guy for doing it in his place of work

monkeys on the ceiling fan, ceiling fan (CaptainLorax), Sunday, 18 March 2012 01:16 (thirteen years ago)

season was worth it for "its called austin scarlett and its a story of a vampire from the 18th C who has lived many hundreds of years and now resides in williamsburg and occasionally borrows clothes from her hasidic dandy friends"

johnny crunch, Saturday, 24 March 2012 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

^^^^^

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 24 March 2012 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

The reaction shots of the baffled audience did it for me.

Office Tebow (Leee), Saturday, 24 March 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

I couldn't bring myself to look at the tv, I just stared at the floor awkwardly waiting for him to finish...so much secondhand embarrassment

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 24 March 2012 22:18 (thirteen years ago)

that wedding dress was freaking beautiful though. The way it moved! Wow. I don't like marshmallow wedding dresses usually but goddamn.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 24 March 2012 22:18 (thirteen years ago)

(Just wanted to assert my straight-dudeness and mention that the rack on the model who wore Mondo's Rorschach was like woah.)

Office Tebow (Leee), Saturday, 24 March 2012 23:52 (thirteen years ago)

HA yeah she definitely gave it a 90's flygirl look (re her nice curvy bod), much appreciated

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 25 March 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

lol you really are an Americaphile.

Office Tebow (Leee), Monday, 26 March 2012 00:40 (thirteen years ago)

Guilty as charged
