I threw up in the back of my car at the time, and even though I had the interior washed and everything they were never quite able to get rid of the vomity smell.

m. white otm. i had trouble with tequila for a long time, but if you take me to one of those craft mexican places with $16 shots of anejo i won't say no.

I couldn't stand vodka because of all those Popov shots in college, but a few years later I tasted the difference when I bought a bottle that was more than $10.

It's the viscousness of cheap vodka that drives me away & still makes me nauseous to recall. Maybe more top-shelf vodka would go down better. Those days, it was McCormicks or whatever bottom-shelf store brand nonsense we could afford (in sufficient quantities for our aims).

I stayed away from gin for a long time after a couple of pukey nights, but am slowly working my way back

Gin is still my liquor of choice but as I age I have trouble recovering, so I switch to Grey Goose and tonic or Ketel One and tonic and I have just as much fun.

My family used to own a bar so we had a room full of leftover liquor. We were allowed to drink in the house - but there were rules. Vodka and whiskey were for dad and his golf buddies. My mom forbade consumption of wine, champagne or holiday favorites like Asti or Bailey's. That left those high school favorites - rum and peppermint schnapps. Ew. I didn't have a particularly bad experience, it's just that even smelling the stuff now brings back bad memories. Kids want alcohol to taste like candy, I guess. To think that a bottle of Galliano sat there unloved!

Vodka, tequila, rum.

That leaves me whiskey, scotch, bourbon, and gin. I'm okay with this.

When I got to college I visited my brother and he said, "let me introduce you to an adult drink, it's called vodka." Always have time for vodka. When I was a teenager, they never touched the stuff! Funny how tastes change. Everyone wanted rum in the eighties.

My epically bad gin experience was 30 years ago next summer, so maybe I should try another short careful trip on the gin train. I did smell some gin recently and it didn't make me scream with the return of a repressed memory or anything.

Galliano- 16 again- half a tall bottle straight cos it was all that was in the house, puked in the sink in physics next day.
Aftershock- first night of college, half bottle. Grades never recovered.

White Lightning is made from onions isn't it? I had some friends who went on a trip to europe and only remember about 1/3 of it thanks to that stuff.

An asshole friend of mine challenged me to a drinking contest once (15, maybe 16) but he was sober and I was already wasted. A russian fellow, so we took shots with mushrooms or spiced sausage inbetween shots, which he was just pretending to drink. I got a temporary revenge when my puke blocked his toilet, but I couldn't drink vodka for years, and worse; I couldn't eat salami or pepperoni for years either.

Is Zima still being produced? That was really foul as well.

Screwdriver is yummy to me. When you're dancing in some smoky place and all hoarse and sweaty, it is refreshing. You can drink and get your vitamin C at the same time.

Red Bull never did the trick for me when clubbing. It made me vomit.

Rum sucks, I hate the way it gets all sticky. Why did I ever drink it.
