― some dude, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 03:08 (thirteen years ago)
i watched this show tonight because it's constantly been on top of ILX, like week in week out for months. it was horrible. generic buddy sitcom non-laffs with no charisma or distinct personality. and zooey is the worst, just staggering around the set looking poleaxed and winsome. i have a feeling that it would be equally successful with no soundtrack as the "pictures of zooey deschanel" show.

new season killing it. has a real Friends-in-its-prime vibe. the ep with the younger hipsters across the hall killed. and they're handling the inevitable Nick'n'Jess romance subplot well - though I reckon the minute they really Ross'n'Rachel it, this show's dead in the water. But right now, it's my favourite thing on TV.

― Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 23 November 2012 11:57 (twelve years ago)

― max, Friday, 11 January 2013 14:22 (twelve years ago)
my favorite part of that whole sequence (aside from Nick and Cece being "oh hell no" when Schmidt first broached race with them) is when Winston accused Schmidt of thinking Winston smoked crack because he was black and Schmidt saying he thought Winston smoked crack because that's what Winston had just told him

Since pretty early on, like the first ep with lizzy caplan, they've done a kind of brilliant job of alternately critiquing/defending/ridiculing/embracing the 'adorkable zooey persona' that got the show on the air in the first place
― Stephen Thomas Duttywine (some dude), Friday, 22 March 2013 18:26 (twelve years ago)
exactly. I was bummed at first, figured they'd put it off till later. Then I was like ok, they're going there, but it didn't work so now they've moved on and they'll eventually come back to it. Instead they're accepting it's there and just having fun playing with it.
― dan selzer, Friday, 22 March 2013 19:12 (twelve years ago)
yeah i'm fine w/ zooey now, which i couldn't have predicted even back when i started liking the show. i would love it if there were a perpetual new girl though. lol @ dan if he think big bang is gonna wrap after 8 seasons, which is kinda a shame cuz i would like to see cuoco working w/ better scripts but at the same time good for her for getting paid serious money which is what happens in the later seasons.
― balls, Friday, 22 March 2013 23:10 (twelve years ago)
they're doing a better job w/ winston also. should i go back and watch the first season of this at some point? pretty big lizzy caplan fan fwiw.
― balls, Friday, 22 March 2013 23:11 (twelve years ago)
i guess but doesn't it seem like the balance was real out of whack early on, when they seemed to want to define her as (among other things) 'this girl who sings everything!'? and it's gone from whatever that would be, as a trait of a character, to something more like… one affectation/quirk among many of one character among eccentric other characters
― j., Saturday, 23 March 2013 00:19 (twelve years ago)
I also thought they'd toned down her character's 'quirkiness' quite a bit (including the singing) but they seemed to be bringing it back in "Quick-Hardening Caulk" (probably why it was slightly disappointing to me).

yeah if you'd told me 'schmidt breaks up the wedding' i would've groaned but they pulled it off well and even if 'the groom is even more relieved than cece the wedding is canceled' is a bit of a cheat at least the writers knew that breaking up a wedding is kinda a shitty thing to do and felt they had to deal w/ that problem. really effective stunt casting, laffed pretty hard when she was the other woman. pretty great season, i've long had this theory that second seasons of sitcoms are usually the best for a number of reasons (i've never really tested this theory and maybe it's just a sorta recent phenom also), this was a pretty great one. selzer otm above: this is the best sitcom on tv right now. starting to get the appeal of zooey but luckily hannah simone is there to remind that o right THAT, that's what a dream goddess looks like. so i should check out the first season?
― balls, Thursday, 16 May 2013 03:13 (twelve years ago)
at least the writers knew that breaking up a wedding is kinda a shitty thing to do and felt they had to deal w/ that problem.
OTM. It seemed clear enough to me beforehand that neither party really had his or her heart in the wedding so I didn't feel that cheated (although I was hoping that Chivrang [?] was really in love with a dude). Actually curious which way Schmidt is going to go. I thought it was pretty bold + commendable for them to have him get back with Elizabeth so I probably will feel cheated if he just decides "Cece". (I mean, it would have been pretty bold for the writers to fully commit to the arranged marriage as well.)
S2 has definitely been the superior season but s1 was pretty good after the first couple of episodes.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 16 May 2013 04:36 (twelve years ago)
read an interview this morning w/ the creator/writer that had a funny quote about how in the original casting call the character of Nick said something like "is secretly the smartest person in the room" and the actor said "yeah, after casting me, you threw that idea out pretty quick"
― dan selzer, Thursday, 16 May 2013 05:03 (twelve years ago)
good finale, though i do feel a bit uncomfortable with how cavalier they threw out the arranged marriage, funny cameo though. i did think to myself "wait... is that..."

Almost done rewatching the first two seasons and I have to say...it's just funnier and funnier. This will go down as one of the great sitcoms of all time.
― dan selzer, Friday, 6 September 2013 00:33 (eleven years ago)
premieres tonight. This show gives my life meaning.
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 20:53 (eleven years ago)
it's the details. Like when Cece tells the story of losing her virginity to Mick Jagger and Schmidt screams "Beatlemania, Beatlemania".
The way they've mastered having 4 people talking at once each telling a different joke.
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 20:54 (eleven years ago)
i'm pretty excited for the premiere tonight, probably my current favorite sitcom. i'm glad at least one i really like seems to be a decent enough ratings hit. i'm still not over happy endings going away.
― JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 17 September 2013 20:57 (eleven years ago)
Well, then you should be happy that "Coach" is coming back to New Girl for at least a visit. If you don't know the story: http://newgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Coach
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 17 September 2013 20:59 (eleven years ago)
Nice for New Girl to at least have an arc where there isn't just one token black character, but two pretty hilarious ones. At least Winston is to some degree. Coach obv never got a chance to spread his wings.

Some great stuff tonight. Held up.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 02:44 (eleven years ago)
i thought it was decent, though clearly more effort was set up resolving the cliffhanger and setting up this season, which is fine. so much better than that terrible samberg show.
― JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 03:30 (eleven years ago)
I thought samberg show coulda been much worse. It's not great, but it had some ok lines.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 03:40 (eleven years ago)
the rest of the cast wasn't bad, but samberg pretty much ruined it for me. his whole, "lookit me! i just made a HILARIOUS joke" smirk bothered me so much more than it ever did on snl.
― JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 04:07 (eleven years ago)
Better than the new Mindy Project though I'm not sure that's high praise
― I have gathered no gaudy flowers of speech in other men's gardens (dowd), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 16:13 (eleven years ago)
this show's fine. they just added s2 to netflix so we watched like 4 eps last night. do they ever give winston a real plotline? also why does everyone make a big deal about schmidt when nick is clearly the funniest character?
― congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:26 (eleven years ago)
Winston definitely gets fleshed out, and he gets something of a plotline or two but it's usually the b-plot. Definitely feels like he forced in there at times, no matter how fleshed out he gets. But he's a good enough character and has enough good lines/parts that it doesn't bother me.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:33 (eleven years ago)
feel bad for that dude. he's a funny actor but his character really gets shafted. we watched the one last night where he's bad at pranks, he was great.
― congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:34 (eleven years ago)
that episode is a Winston tour-de-force
― WHAT DOES SAMANTHA FOX SAY (DJP), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:35 (eleven years ago)
"let's put some juice by her shoe"
― congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:36 (eleven years ago)
(though technically that line was delivered by kid-actor winston)
his general prank thing of taking things too far. "Let's stab him...with a knife" or whatever, is hilarious. He was great in the latest episode with the puzzles and the color-blindness.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:37 (eleven years ago)
i didnt really know how i was supposed to feel when they all got away with forgetting winston's bday
― r|t|c, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 17:44 (eleven years ago)
This show is kind of like "Moonlighting" in that it got boring quick as soon as the "will they, won't they" suspense was over.
― o. nate, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 19:11 (eleven years ago)
I'll give it more than one episode to decide if that's the case.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 19:14 (eleven years ago)
Well, it's been kind of obvious for a while that they were getting together, hasn't it? It seems like the suspense has been gone since midway through last season.
― o. nate, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 19:19 (eleven years ago)
I really enjoyed there flirting and on again off again weirdness last season, and again this past week. Not sure where it will go. Read that the writers are thinking more along the lines of Jim and Pam and Leslie and Ben instead of Sam and Diane or Ross and Rachel.
― dan selzer, Wednesday, 18 September 2013 19:24 (eleven years ago)
Winston really needs his own show. Schmidt can come. but only if he ditches the love interests.
― Simon H., Thursday, 19 September 2013 05:38 (eleven years ago)
never ditch cece
― Jean-Claude Brand Ambassador (some dude), Thursday, 19 September 2013 06:01 (eleven years ago)
Well, no, obviously. But wifey seems so nice. Actually she can do better, losing Schmidt won't be so terrible for her, because she doesn't need to be with someone. But if you ask me who I would rather spend (platonic) time with the answer wouldn't be Cece.
― I have gathered no gaudy flowers of speech in other men's gardens (dowd), Thursday, 19 September 2013 09:31 (eleven years ago)
That scene with Winston, Schmidt and Cece was VERY well choreographed. Lamorne Morris was killing it whenever he was in the background of those shots.
― Marlo Poco (Phil D.), Thursday, 19 September 2013 14:13 (eleven years ago)

yeah it's kinda ugh
― marky markers & the blinky bunch (some dude), Wednesday, 2 October 2013 03:40 (eleven years ago)
like the whole blaming Jess and Nick thing is so not something he would have done last season, even if it was partially for LOLs. and I still don't understand why he didn't just pick CeCe outright. the dude is vain, he was clearly obsessed with her and only went back to Elizabeth when it was clear CeCe was getting married. yeah, he had that old school connection w/ her, but he never woulda given her a chance if not for CeCe being off the market for real.
― Neanderthal, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 03:52 (eleven years ago)
watching season 2 on netflix and still laughing over the "we got chokes, hula hoops, and a sitar" thing in the hipster episode.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 05:29 (eleven years ago)
that was probably my favourite line of the whole series.
― koogs, Wednesday, 2 October 2013 08:16 (eleven years ago)
great ep, everything with nick in a motorcycle helmet = A+
― Nhex, Saturday, 5 October 2013 15:55 (eleven years ago)
Winston walking up to the restaurant reservation desk and eating the glass bead thinking it was a mint = greatest thing ever.
― My question is primarily riparian (Phil D.), Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:23 (eleven years ago)
Winston was really the MVP of the episode. His antics to shoo other people away from the community table were the best.
― Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:26 (eleven years ago)
I really hope the show doesn't go to darker places though, as that's not its niche. Hoping the whole Schmidt thread of trying to break Jess/Nick up doesn't become the prevailing story arc, but I doubt they're likely to just leave it untouched, so I have a bad feeling about it.
― Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:27 (eleven years ago)
It's the basis of the next episode so def an arc. Hopefully a short one.
― dan selzer, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:51 (eleven years ago)
it needs some darkness to balance out the preciously goofy antics
― Nhex, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:58 (eleven years ago)
i doubt it'll be long. i hope they stop trying to get CeCe and Schmidt together now, but of course we'll be dragged into that again i'm sure
― Nhex, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:59 (eleven years ago)
Winston's monologue about the double date was brilliant. At firs they cut away to him and all 4 have these amazing responses, then they go back and it's just him rambling on. He really is amazing. Such a great cast.
― dan selzer, Saturday, 5 October 2013 18:05 (eleven years ago)
The Get Lucky montage

― some dude, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 12:34 (eleven years ago)
definitely. it is going to "darker places" though, i think, as neanderthal feared. i can't imagine how angry i would be at schmidt if i were nick or jess.

Lamorne Morris + Damon Wayans Jr. + Taye Diggs last night = African-American actors are getting better, funnier work on this show than anywhere else on network TV. Who would've thought so for The Zooey Deschanel Show?
― Ian from Etobicoke (Phil D.), Thursday, 7 November 2013 17:21 (eleven years ago)

That convo with Coach, Nick and Jess was a thing of beauty, though. "I'm just telling her what kind of cake to make me, son!"
― Ian from Etobicoke (Phil D.), Thursday, 7 November 2013 18:15 (eleven years ago)
I feel like the original Coach character was closer to Winston. I remember him being weird and awkward in the pilot. I feel like any attributes he may have had were adopted by Winston when replaced, and now that he's back they came up with a new version of Coach who's different than in the pilot. I thought Taye Diggs stole the episode though. Not my fave episode of recent, but still good stuff.
― dan selzer, Thursday, 7 November 2013 18:43 (eleven years ago)
I looove the little "YEAH, we got Bin Laden" flashback, followed by "I thought I was alone for that?"
― Andrew Kornfan, Thursday, 7 November 2013 20:34 (eleven years ago)
i did get the impression that they deliberately let the tone of the episode jar a bit to match the (re)introduction of the character. like, ok, here's a thing, then obviously they will compensate and pretty soon coach will probably be entangled in the apartment's neuroses like everyone else.
― j., Thursday, 7 November 2013 22:21 (eleven years ago)
is coach back permanently?

Schmidt pronouncing "Chinese food" with a short "i."
― Ian from Etobicoke (Phil D.), Thursday, 14 November 2013 15:26 (eleven years ago)
i thought this whole schmidt moves out storyline was going to be dumb, but if it leads to more scenes like him dancing to the workout track through the walls, it'll be ok.

otm. used to be kind of a hapless stuck-in-his-ways schlub, now he's like two seconds from just soiling himself while screaming "MacGyver!" for no reason.
in general this season's felt relatively sloppy compared to s2 - a lot of scenes that are like improv-in-place-of-jokes instead of improv-based-on-jokes. like when jess got a hotel room and they just kind of had her yell in it.
― da croupier, Friday, 28 March 2014 06:15 (eleven years ago)
Which ws that? Ppl I know loved it
― sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Friday, 28 March 2014 06:39 (eleven years ago)
the one where jess moves into nick's room - which led to wacky revelations that jess reads in bed and that nick has a funny nightshirt (i guess previous nights she'd retire to her room after fucking?). that's cool people you know loved it.
― da croupier, Friday, 28 March 2014 07:17 (eleven years ago)
also does cece live in their building? she appeared to be walking in and out of the building a lot for no clear reason while sweating her texts to the young guy
― da croupier, Friday, 28 March 2014 07:22 (eleven years ago)
tbh at some point they did try to show another side of him - he actally did take the bar exam and passed iirc -, but they then quickly came back to the "MacGyver" screaming as you say.
― Jibe, Friday, 28 March 2014 14:16 (eleven years ago)
yeah i hated when they were finally going to let him show off his lawyer skills when schmidt got sued and he was just an incoherent mess - his save at the end was so weak I thought they might actually just have the actual lawyers be like "well, no. why would we accept that?"
― da croupier, Friday, 28 March 2014 14:34 (eleven years ago)

I was hoping Nick would whip out some crazy lawyer skills, get "Where the fuck did that come from?!" reactions from Schmidt and Winston, leave the opposing lawyers in the dust, and remain an utterly hopeless schlub in every other aspect of his life. Instead of "I'm not the guy who puts a toy together!" he could've been "I'm not the guy who's a lawyer!" Or something.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 28 March 2014 15:10 (eleven years ago)

― j., Friday, 28 March 2014 15:52 (eleven years ago)
She didn't interact with Jess once though! Just with the ex who doubletimed her and his roommate who she hooked up with. Just curious if there was a line about crashing there after drinking and waiting for a drug shipment to arrive that would require multiple trips in and out or something.
― da croupier, Friday, 28 March 2014 15:56 (eleven years ago)

I assumed Cece spent the night there after playing True American and was too hungover to leave? When I am hungover I don't have a ton of agency.

very confusing
they broke this show when they broke them up. the inverse of the typical sitcom rule, but the last few episodes of last season were joyless.

― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 23:39 (ten years ago)
not only am i mad that they've intentionally crushed all sexual tension between the characters from a shipping standpoint, i think it's also reduced everyone's character to "i'm a well-meaning idiot" lest they accidentally click on any level beyond "amiable roommate"
― da croupier, Thursday, 2 October 2014 16:01 (ten years ago)
there are still decent jokes and takes but omggggg why would they delete season 2 from the show's psychological record AS WELL AS season 3?
― da croupier, Thursday, 2 October 2014 16:02 (ten years ago)
i wonder if hollywood up-and-comer jake johnston wears sunglasses between takes and lets everyone know he's their shelley long cuz i don't know why else you'd take the show's romantic lead and turn him into a sexless oaf
― da croupier, Thursday, 2 October 2014 16:04 (ten years ago)
p much agree, still has lols but its not promising to have as zzzz an ep plot structure as the tinder/weed 1 so early in the season

ugh nm
I lolled hardcore at this week's 'cumin' gag but yeah, this show is treading water and has been for a while. I assumed when it started that the show would be a bunch of nutty kooks yelling at each other and was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to have some depth, but now it seems to be devolving into exactly that.
Mostly it just makes me wish 'Happy Endings' was still around :(
― bizarro gazzara, Friday, 3 October 2014 08:53 (ten years ago)
Before I start trying to download any of the new episodes, are they giving anything cool for Winston to do this season? Because he was woefully underused last season.
― A college wearing a sweater that says “John Belushi” (stevie), Friday, 3 October 2014 09:30 (ten years ago)
nope :(
― bizarro gazzara, Friday, 3 October 2014 09:32 (ten years ago)
They've moved on the Winston-at-police0academy storyline a bit but 'woefully underused' is otm. Which is tragic, because he is one of TV's most wonderfully odd characters.
― bizarro gazzara, Friday, 3 October 2014 09:34 (ten years ago)
he's so well played. so much potential. he got totally shafted last season. coach sucks.
― A college wearing a sweater that says “John Belushi” (stevie), Friday, 3 October 2014 10:47 (ten years ago)
i love the cast right now - especially Hannah Simone getting more screen time - but they're still struggling to get time for all six. coach and winston pretty screwed this past week. that said, still a funny episode. also, nice to see Michaela Watkins, though I wonder what happened to Schmidt's old boss/occasional hook-up

finally bailed after the episode about rob reiner's new wife, regret nothing
the writers have been raving about the fact that they got fisting jokes in an episode. reminded me of that Growing Pains spin-off Just The Ten Of Us about a dude with 5 daughters. that was also staffed by bored people with nothing better to do than see what the censors would let them get away with.

Man, I actually think this season is a huge step up from the back half of last season. It has its ups and downs, but I'd rather see the ridiculous slapstick stuff like the meth episode than the hamfisted relationship bullshit.

― #Research (stevie), Friday, 16 January 2015 15:55 (ten years ago)
It's still OK if you think of it as "The Coach and Winston show plus ZoDesh does some slapstick."
PS must credit me for "ZoDesh."
― Οὖτις Δαυ & τηε Κνιγητσ (Phil D.), Friday, 16 January 2015 16:22 (ten years ago)
season 3 really sucked for a while (imo "birthday" through the end of the linda cardellini stretch, and i say that as linda cardellini) but got funny again in its last few eps, S4's been on and off laffs-wise. wayans jr is great. i wish they'd quit it with the endless "every character meets the perfect person who is perfect for them in every way and then they suddenly have to break up" cycle. just marry nick/jess schmidt/cece coach/winston and move on.
― qualx, Friday, 16 January 2015 16:24 (ten years ago)
oh shit, hi Linda! loved you on ER
― Let me help you out Charlie XCX fan (DJP), Friday, 16 January 2015 16:50 (ten years ago)
i dont mind the schmidt/cece thing but i thought them killing off nick and jess so quickly was weird. nick and schmidt are "self" "parodies" at this point but get some laughs, i find wayans irritating, not even winston has been doing it for me lately, but honestly i still laugh 3-4 times an episode which is enough for 22 minutes
― max, Friday, 16 January 2015 17:04 (ten years ago)
thanks for confirming this show hasn't recovered past a "frustrating, but better than staring at a wall" level of tolerability, guys
― da croupier, Friday, 16 January 2015 17:12 (ten years ago)
when it's funny it's funny.
nick/jess in S3 was horrible, both together and not. it sucks when they lean on their great will-they-won't-they run-up for a season and then have no idea what to do when the actual relationship starts. so they just run through all the sitcom tropes. nick came out of it with all his edges sanded off and he's been mostly tough to watch since.
i'm apparently the only one who hates what they've done to winston?? he started off as an actual human being, they didn't really know what to do with him, so they turned him into a cartoon vegetable who needs to be reminded how to walk and which hole food is supposed to go into. the "winston loves puzzles and winston has literally no idea how a puzzle works" story made me want to punch a wall. S4's been better but that was all he was in S3.
― qualx, Friday, 16 January 2015 17:21 (ten years ago)
Yeah, I quit after that awful bottle episode with Winston's police examiner. Seems like it hasn't really improved?
― Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 16 January 2015 22:11 (ten years ago)
i wish they'd quit it with the endless "every character meets the perfect person who is perfect for them in every way and then they suddenly have to break up" cycle. just marry nick/jess schmidt/cece coach/winston and move on.
see this is pretty much how i felt about s3, tbh. but if you promise there's lots of Winston in it now I just might check it out.

Wow no posts in this thread for a year. It's show malaise of the cursed ILX quotation mark topic search syndrome.Show has definitely had a bit of decline for the last season or so, but I'm still enjoying it. Some thoughts about the recent half season:
1) a little ashamed to admit this but Megan Fox is still crazy mean/hot and i found her run watchable on that basis alone2) glad they seem to actually be giving Winston and CeCe more time and jokes, especially CeCe who gets a lot more room to go wacky3) Nasim Pedrad is adorable and great but I hope she actually gets a full role on this show eventually rather than what seems inevitable - that she gets weakly written off when her and Winston don't pan out4) Nick has kinda become the defacto leader of the show this season, weird since Jess was out for so long and Schmidt got so much focus last year
― Nhex, Thursday, 24 March 2016 04:24 (nine years ago)
it's turned a lot into HIMYM for me - it's still enjoyable often enough and i'm invested enough in the characters that i still watch every week. but it's never remarkable. i agree w/ everything else you just wrote.
― Mordy, Thursday, 24 March 2016 14:28 (nine years ago)
it's the perfect show to not expect anything from. sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn't. i fear that they are occasionally joey'ifying nick (i.e. making him more stupid than any human could be for cheap jokes) but so far they've kept that weakness in check. im perfectly content for it to persist or really to wrap at any pt
Peter Gallagher was a nice twist this week, i am not sure when i last saw him in anything
― art, Thursday, 24 March 2016 14:34 (nine years ago)

― johnny crunch, Thursday, 24 March 2016 14:45 (nine years ago)
Man, the writing in this still crackles in a way HIMYM's never did. Even in the dud episodes, there are a least a dozen brilliant, undersold little lines tucked into the dialogue
― Evan R, Thursday, 24 March 2016 15:01 (nine years ago)
otm i watched the entirety of himym and the more i look back on it the more that feels like wasted time on a subpar show
― art, Thursday, 24 March 2016 15:09 (nine years ago)
Agree w/ Evan, though it hasn't been as great as I'd like. Also agree about making Nick too unbelievably stupid.
― dan selzer, Thursday, 24 March 2016 16:09 (nine years ago)
man if you guys think nick is being unbelievably stupid you should go back and watch season 3 for the "suddenly 100% incapable of understanding basic human functions and customs" version of winston
i'm fine with this nick (and this winston, i guess)
― qualx, Friday, 25 March 2016 04:44 (nine years ago)
it's not as funny as it once was but they've banked a lot of goodwill for "badbye, reagan. badbye."

I am trying to remember if there have been outright laughs so far.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:56 (seven years ago)
I'm enjoying this season, but mostly because the writers have clearly just decided to let it be completely silly and cut the last remaining tethers to believability, which is fine by me.
Nick and Schmidt's interaction over the mustache was great, also liked the Winston masturbation flashback.
― soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:58 (seven years ago)
I had to google what this masturbation flashback was because I may have fallen asleep during that episode.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:02 (seven years ago)
The rest of the episode wasn't great, so that's fair, it might just be that college Nick always makes me laugh.

I have absolutely no recollection of this. This was the elementary school episode?
― Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:07 (seven years ago)
I think so? The B-plot was Nick hiring someone offa craigslist to punch him in the face if he didn't write x number of words and Winston prepping to testify at a trial.
― soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:09 (seven years ago)
