Joe Scarborough seems like a dude with a dead hooker in his past.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:01 (thirteen years ago)

My only experiences with Morning Joe come from the Daily Show clips and that bit from last week where everyone sat around awkwardly when Chris Matthews went apeshit on that RNC Chairman.

RIP Dylan Ratigan

it's smdh time in America (will), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:15 (thirteen years ago)

hayes, maddow & harris-perry are totally awesome. the only watchable hosts on cable news, and some of the best major political commenters imo

i voted for hayes cuz he's cute

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:21 (thirteen years ago)

never seen hayes show so no idea how we works on tv but enjoy his writing and credit him w/ the nation doing a sports issue which will continue to amuse me for a long time.

balls, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:25 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i like Hayes. i have a lot of respect for Maddow, but there is something slightly off-putting about her. she's got a smart-ass/ silly thing that i personally don't mind watching but she sure as shit isn't going to win over any converts. not her mission though so eh

it's smdh time in America (will), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

unfortunately his show is on at pre-sunrise hours on weekends. i'll catch some segments online tho.

was sorta interested in alex wagner cuz she used to exec edit the fader but she seemed really hacky on bill maher recently

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

Wagner mostly just mediates the guests so I can't get a read on her editorially but I also have a mad crush on her + amusing to hear Floating Points or whatevs going into ad breaks

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:31 (thirteen years ago)

Chris Hayes' show is the only one sharp enough for me to actually stream three days later.

And it got me to read his new book.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:31 (thirteen years ago)

Hayes' downfall is he looks exactly like -- the resemblance is scary -- one of my best bros, also a denizen of DC; my friend is often confused for Hayes when in Dupont Circle.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i haven't seen wagner's show but on maher she was, like, trumpeting up obama killing al-awlaki and stuff. maybe she's still trying to find her voice tho, i'm not sure how long she's been doing cable news.

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:33 (thirteen years ago)

she wasn't at all cool with the killing citizens and we're not going to tell you why it is legal thing, and i think she had greenwald on to talk about it. can't remember though.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:34 (thirteen years ago)

Being essentially cableless, I do not have MSNBC or FOX either. The only person mentioned in this poll who I have seen in action is Maddow. She didn't seem especially awful in the few minutes I have been exposed to her.

Aimless, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:35 (thirteen years ago)

otoh Chuck Todd is one of the worst nerds alive.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:36 (thirteen years ago)

I like Rachel Maddow a lot, and Chris Hayes too (but like J0rdan said, his show comes on at a ridiculous hour on weekends). Alex Wagner seems way too ideological, even for msnbc.

I miss Norah O'Donnell.

maybe i have the wrong read on wagner. i was sorta surprised at how she came off on maher (all the bad stereotypes of an msnbc host tho far off of ed) given her background. does she host weekday stuff?

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 September 2012 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

I have seen S E Cupp :(

Mordy, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 22:54 (thirteen years ago)

I think one of the only areas in which NBC wins out is in the nightly news sector. Brian Williams seems to be liked by most everyone, but he's nowhere near having the influence of Walter Kronkite.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 4 September 2012 23:03 (thirteen years ago)

cronkite didn't have the influence of cronkite tbh

Brian Williams is scary because he's a blank. Remember when crusty William Holden complained about TV babies? He meant Brian Williams. The guy offers no inflections, turns of phrase, or even warmth. He's a guy with varnished looks who reads briefs.

Aimless, Wednesday, 5 September 2012 02:42 (thirteen years ago)

ok this Hayes guy is okay on the DNC coverage but his show seems much more promising.

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Wednesday, 5 September 2012 18:00 (thirteen years ago)

there's some folks missing--mr. born on 3rd and thought he hit a triple luke russert and the foxy Tamron Hall. It's too hard to pick one semi-acceptable one. Much rather "most hated" in which case I would choose Willie Geist...is he a bro, a frat guy, a d-bag, which? He's also part of Nepotism Broadcast Corporation (son of the irritatingly unfunny Bill Geist on CBS Sunday Morning)

Iago Galdston, Thursday, 6 September 2012 00:14 (thirteen years ago)

I guess I find Tamron the least offensive. I way, way left of MSNBC but Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow have that NPR smugness that I just can't take

Iago Galdston, Thursday, 6 September 2012 00:15 (thirteen years ago)

Tamron Hall is there.

I only included people that host shows, leaving off contributors like Luke because that would go on forever and I would probably have to include people like Richard Wolffe.

MHP for the win - her weekend show is awesome, they get all liberal arts seminar academic instead of just arguing about the news of the day. I like Hayes' weekend show too but I haven't seen it as much since it's on so early.

Maddow is so good at television and as an anchor of MSNBC election/convention coverage. I def enjoy watching her show but it gets a little cutesy and aggravating when she spends whole segments on silly stuff - soundbites of the day blown out of proportion, that sort of thing.

I really like the Why Is This Happening? podcast when I remember to listen to it. I appreciate hearing a discussion of our current reality that manages to make me feel better informed but also slightly saner.

This would be hilarious if it weren’t so slanderous and destructive. Liberals laugh at Fox news but this is just as toxic.

at least in terms of her vendetta against bernie. cf.

I didn't answer your biased reporting about Bernie during the last 2 years @JoyAnnReid. But don't ever use me to demean my husband. I am very happy & very proud to be Bernie's wife. Your perception couldn't be more wrong. Have you ever talked with him? You've never spoken w/me. https://t.co/SZG7uV8cfO

Hmmm. Comcast is disassociating itself from MSNBC, eh? Feels like more spineless C-Suite execs rushing to stay on the good side of our newly-anointed dictator.

My Source for News, Opinion, World!

sounds like they're getting ready to sell the whole thing off to a spam company

xp The spinoff was announced in mid-Nov. 2024 but seems to have been in the works since before the election: https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/19/media/comcast-nbcuniversal-cable-spinoff-msnbc
