Austin Peck based on the (mostly hideous) pics here, though I haven't a clue who he is.

Scanning ahead, the 2nd half of this poll will find me revealing one of my more guilty pleasure crushes from my younger days, but we will get to that later.

I can't help wondering how many of these guys are out of the closet now. Simple averages would require at least five of them and, given how show biz is in general, probably closer to ten or twelve.

And didn't Doug Savant play they gay guy in Melrose Place? Which might explain "the gayest of them all" pic.

Renfro OD'd a few years ago. :(

― Roz, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 06:34 (fourteen years ago)

That Bob Moffatt guy is a bit of alright! And still is, from the GISing Ive done.

― frances boredom coconut (Trayce), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 06:39 (fourteen years ago)

Oh wait, it seems I've mixed up Brand Renfro and Brad Dourif, who appears to still be alive. Still, it's sad to hear about Renfro too. :(

― Tuomas, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 06:41 (fourteen years ago)

That explains things... When I looked at that Teen Beat pic, I was like, "How did that kid grew up to be Wormtongue?".

― Tuomas, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 06:43 (fourteen years ago)

Like most people who were at a British university at the tail end of the 90s, I've seen Chesney Hawkes play live. He does a full live set of original material, followed by The One And Only, which he is legally obliged to mime. He then played Alright by Supergrass. It was kind of preposterous.

― Matt DC, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 08:44 (fourteen years ago)

I have never even heard of most of these. Exceptions being Jason Donovan, Dean Cain, Chesney, and the two Eurodance guys who I would never have thought of in this category.

― Matt DC, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 08:45 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I can't imagine that even the teen girls of the 90s would've been like, "DJ Bobo, he's so dreamy!". Dr. Alban at least looks sorta cute.

― Tuomas, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 08:58 (fourteen years ago)

mmm, Edward Furlong. I also had an inexplicable thing for Dieter Brummer, but so did every other girl of my age.

― ailsa, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 11:23 (fourteen years ago)

The crush I had on Ryan Lambert, it was physically painful. I thought I would die because he was a person on tv and I was just a person.

― purveyor of generations (in orbit), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 16:53 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah Laurel, it's more likely that they're after your time or foreign tbh.

I loved Corky Nemec. A lot. I vividly remember the "I know my first name is Steven" TV movie.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

Random stuff about the irl Steven kid - he was killed in a motorcycle accident the year that movie came out and his brother is the guy that murdered a woman and kids in Yosemite in the late 90s.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

Well I mean I'm only 36, I should know more heart-throbs from the 80s in theory! But I don't know hardly any of these.

I honestly maybe know like a 10th of these (part 1 and 2 combined)

we should start our own list of our ACTUAL teen hearthrobs and not some saddo buzzfeed old lady's version

― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 17:02 (fourteen years ago)

like maybe they just google image searched 'TEEN PINUPS' and posted all the dudes whether or not anyone knew who they were?

seems very off the mark to me.

― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

x-post - I know - I only meant that I think several of them were teeny bopper stars in the 90s when we were already at an age where we weren't necessarily watching or concentrating on shows with 12 year olds. I don't know a lot of them either.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

I think overall it's more 90s heavy than 80s heavy. Por ejemplo my old roommate who is 5 years younger than I am was like OMG I LOVED (three of them but I forget which) and they were three I'd never heard of because it turned out they were all on shows that I was just too old to have cared about at the time.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 17:06 (fourteen years ago)

yeah you're right -- a lot of the shows referenced seem to be all those Nickelodeon things I was too old for

so *I'm* the saddo old lady, lol

This list was definitely made by either a British or Australian person btw.

I have just spent altogether too long trying to remember the name of the 16th-rate British soap star that all my friends cut out pictures of from TV Hits every week. I would like my brain back now please.

Anyway if it's British I'm still the wrong age since I haven't heard of half these guys and there is not enough Sean Maguire or Lee from Let Loose for it to be from my era of TV Hits UK. Prob not enough Craig McLachlan for it to be Australian and my era either.

Also, OMG, got to see how big a detour that is from our usual annual route to Bristol Airport

― still small voice of clam (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:10 (fourteen years ago)

absence of Alex Papps leads me to believe this was not compiled by an Australian person

― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

Paul Nicholls?

― kinder, Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

Cursory research leads me to believe she's actually american - oops. That said, she definitely had at least some sort of foreign input.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I hardly recognise any of these, not many Brits would have seen the vast majority.

― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

Yet the presence of neighbors and H&A cast members, Donovan, Peter Andre and several others are very strange from an American perspective. Weird.

But calling Peter Andre and J-Do 'forgotten' is kind of odd for us, because they're around quite a bit

Yeah, that sort of makes it weirder and is definitely true but they aren't over here and never were. Peter Andre was on I'm a celebrity in the jungle when he got together with Katie Price while I was living over there so it was big news and his name was everywhere. I had no clue who he was before then.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 18 September 2012 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

The Home and Away and Neighbors casts members are so random and patchy though!

so weird that Peter Andre is still a thing in the UK

Dan, admit it. That outfit is spectacular and not all that dissimilar to the ones you were wearing in certain HS pics floating found these parts.

kinder: actually I think I was thinking of Danny Newman (not yet in a soap but I was probably only pretending to know who he was while everyone else was going on about how dreamy he was), but Paul Nicholls is definitely another name I couldn't remember from my class's later TV Hits dissections, yes...

By number of hours spent passing notes back and forth about him in my first year of secondary school, Edward Furlong is the clear winner here.

WHADDYA MEAN NO

Behr picked up a recurring role as the character Chris Wolfe in The WB's series Dawson's Creek. While filming the show in North Carolina, Jason read the script for a pilot called Roswell High — later shortened to Roswell — and felt an immediate affinity for the lead alien, Max Evans.

I totally think Michael Pitt = from Dawson's Creek.

Neighbours and Home & Away list need the guy who played Brad Willis and the guy who played Alan Fisher.

Seeing Dieter Brummer just reminds me how weird it is that Melissa George and Isla Fisher got to be proper famous-ish. And Guy Pearce, obv.

― ailsa, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 00:00 (fourteen years ago)

Isla Fisher especially. I couldn't stand her on H&A, and I was all D: when she became a thing (briefly) here

Isnt she only famous cos she's shacked up with Borat tho?

― frances boredom coconut (Trayce), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 00:45 (fourteen years ago)

I have very fond memories of Parker Lewis. I wonder if it's anywhere near as good as it is in my head.

― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 02:06 (fourteen years ago)

man, come to think of it, the nascent FOX Sunday-night sitcom lineup was p classic overall: Simpsons, Married.. w/ Children, PLCL & Get a Life. I think Herman's Head might have been in there at some point as well.

While the necklace and hat are atrocious, Nemec looks like he's aged pretty well overall.

Yeh Corin Nemec was in Stargate tv show a few years back iirc -- Mr Veg started getting mad at me bc I'd only watch the episodes/scenes he was in and then leave the room, lol
