so weird, i can't think of any of Bronson's work at all that's "more satan than pagan," the whole basis of his solo work since group material emerges from this space of care, tending to felix and jorge on their deathbeds. earth mother, fecund spaces of healing, butt massages, and dream cities where the living and the dead walk together. sure burgher is coming from an aleister crowley space of witchcraft, self-obliteration but also his work is maybe not so interesting to me. i think what's really good about bronson's work over the last ten or so years that he's been working as a solo artist, is that it doesn't stall at the level of representation (sigils, glyphs, incantations) but moves beyond that. like with this school for young shamans, inventing styles of communitarian eroticism. which is what is interesting about rad fae stuff to me. these stylised rituals of friendship, adornment. ways of living critically that require ad hoc pedagogies, an aesthetics of community.

guys guys guys I've been carrying this albatross of an academic book manuscript around my neck for the past, uh, thirteen years (seven years as a dissertation and then six years editing / revising / finding a publisher etc.). And just tonight I hit send on the final revised manuscript. It comes out in March from Fordham University Press. I've literally had this project hanging over my head for like a decade and now, aside from final galley proof checking, it's . . . done.
