Hi again! I am very delighted that this thread was begun, and not by me, because I will now use it to get things off my chest!

Anyway, I thought that my last exam would take place this coming Tuesday, but it will instead take place on this coming Thursday! What this means is that I now have extra time, and I am having drinks with Madge, The Sundays, The Innocence Mission, and all my other sistas on this lovely Sunday afternoon! I can play now!

I was sooo worried about my grades this semester, but everything looks fine now! I will maintain a very respectful GPA. My MAJOR MALFUNCTION is History, by the way, (European). I do not know what I am doing, but I would like to make a promise right now that I will not post in any other threads this afternoon, lest things get out of hand!

Only this afternoon can I post. I will begin to post like a normal ilxor in a couple of weeks, and post to wdyll, etc. I am just surprised how demanding keeping up with ilx on a regular basis is. I just began writing some long spiel on why I would like to go to Cornell, etc. It is probably for all the same old reasons that most in my position give, but...

This is hard to explain, I will miss something here, etc. I am concerned with social justice, but do not have it in me to become a social worker. I plan to instruct at an impoverished community college some day. (I know that my education is top-notch, and most do not take the students at comm-colleges seriously, see it as the ghetto of academia, etc.) But, I take it seriously. There is a lot of poverty in comm-colleges, and I would also be able to pursue my own intellectual interests. What I am driving at, is, those students have graver concerns than class. They come in, they don't know how to write a proper college-level paper, they don't know how to approach the work, etc. I am making large generalizations. But, I can help them while also pursuing my own interests. They are not concerned with the 30 years war, they see higher education as a barrier to entry in the workforce, and I do not blame them. Some of these people are 20-year-old mothers, some of them just wanna put food on the table, others don't know if they'll have a home in six months. Arghhh. I hope you understand what I'm driving at. I'm a little drunk, but I just see comm-college instruction as a means to help those impoverished climb the social ladder whilst also pursuing my own interests, even though my idea is slight bereft of coherency here. Perhaps something better might come along for me, I have all of the opportunities in the world, but I'm not sure that I want better opportunities--but I want a top notch education!!!!!!!!!
