Let's do this.
Rules are generally the same as in previous years.
Post in this thread a list of 15 celebrities or other notable people. If you'd rather e-mail me, that's fine, but please post in the thread that you've done so, just so I can keep track.
I'm not going to be a total stickler about notability requirements, but please try to be reasonable. I'd rather not allow someone without, for instance, a Wikipedia entry. On a related note, if a Wikipedia search on one of your picks directs to a disambiguation page or to someone else with the same name, please indicate which one you mean by appending the person's profession in parentheses, e.g. "(actress)" or "(football player)."
As usual, points are awarded based on the formula (100 - [age at death]). So picking Quvenzhané_Wallis (age 9) would get you a lot more points than picking Zsa Zsa Gabor (age 95), were both to die.
Please post your lists to this thread by January 9. No lists will be accepted after that date. If someone dies before Jan. 9, only the people who have already submitted lists will be able to collect points. You may also revise your list at any time before Jan. 9; after that, you'll be locked in.
Lastly, I will be posting everybody's final picks to this Google spreadsheet and also updating the leaderboard there as the year goes on.
(Feel free, of course, to bump this thread and alert me if I've missed an update. Deaths of British/Australian celebs in particular often pass me by.)
Good luck!

HUMANS ONLY.

Kate Middleton's unborn (controv!)
I'm also not sure about this one. My inclination is to allow it but only once the child is actually born. That is, no points for a miscarriage or stillbirth.

― Bill Goldberg Variations (Merdeyeux), Monday, 21 January 2013 03:18 (twelve years ago)
It could be..
Ian "H" Watkins (born 8 May 1976) is a Welsh singer, actor and dancer. He is four of the five members of the British pop group Steps and is somewhat of an enigma. He has said that "H" stands for "heroic", describing his ability to get out of bed every day knowing full well that he will still be Ian "H" Watkins. Controversial sources claim that the 'H' actually stands for 'Hyperactive', however recent events in the House Of Commons resulted in a law banning speculation on the true meaning behind the conspicuous initial.
Or the Lostprophets bloke...

Kind of eerie -- as soon as I finally get everything input, we have our first death of the year.
With the passing of Reg Presley, Onimo takes the lead with 29 points.
― jaymc, Monday, 4 February 2013 22:00 (twelve years ago)
Some stats, btw:
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 29
MOST PICKED:
(16) Hugo Chavez(14) Maggie Thatcher(13) George H. W. Bush(10) Fidel Castro(9) Bashar Assad, Lindsay Lohan(8) Nelson Mandela(7) Hosni Mubarak(5) Chris Brown, Prince Philip, Charlie Sheen(4) Courtney Love, Nick Stahl
That's right, the top 8 picks are all current or former world leaders, with one exception: Lindsay Lohan.
Also, this year I decided to add birth years to the spreadsheet.
OLDEST PICKS:
(1916) Kirk Douglas(1917) Zsa Zsa Gabor(1918) Billy Graham, Nelson Mandela, Ralph Wilson
YOUNGEST PICKS:
(2006) Suri Cruise(1997) Hayley Okines(1995) Chief Keef(1994) Harry Styles(1993) Lil Reese
― jaymc, Thursday, 7 February 2013 04:38 (twelve years ago)
And difference in # of picks between 2012 and '13*:
BIGGEST RISE:
Hugo Chavez (+14)George H.W. Bush (+10)Nelson Mandela (+5)Chris Brown (+4)Nick Stahl (+4)
BIGGEST DROP (among those still alive):
Pete Doherty (-7)Terry Pratchett (-7)Muhammad Ali (-5)Fidel Castro (-5)Aretha Franklin (-4)Margaret Thatcher (-4)Artie Lange (-4)Dick Cheney (-4)George Michael (-4)
*There are nine fewer Dead Pool entrants this year than last. Bearing that in mind, however, only Thatcher's drop can be explained as the mere result of the decrease in players. That is, the % decrease in the number of players who picked Thatcher is roughly the same as the % decrease in the total number of players. All others on the "Biggest Drop" list decreased by a greater percentage.

Rollover points for each year we've been backing her.
― ailsa, Monday, 8 April 2013 13:02 (twelve years ago)
Now updated. (I think this is the first year in several that I *didn't* pick her.)
― jaymc, Monday, 8 April 2013 13:10 (twelve years ago)
as if today wasn't wonderful enough already. :')

1. abanana (Cliburn, Franklin, Chavez)2. Elvis Telecom (Chavez, Thatcher, Funicello--. kate78 (")4. Matt Armstrong (Chavez, Ebert)--. nostormo (")
(Then a bunch of people tied for 6th with the Hugo/Maggie twofer.)
― jaymc, Monday, 8 April 2013 17:28 (twelve years ago)
I hope you know, I only did not add Thatcher to my list this year as it seems that everyone I put on my list last year, survived...
― Mark G, Monday, 15 April 2013 10:07 (twelve years ago)
RIP Pat Summerall; welcome to the leaderboard, johnny crunch.
― jaymc, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 23:02 (twelve years ago)

― H-E-double-s1ockisticks (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 23:06 (twelve years ago)
Let the record show that I waited a week before bumping.
― pplains, Friday, 3 May 2013 13:20 (twelve years ago)
Bernadette Nolan RIP
― kate78, Monday, 8 July 2013 03:47 (eleven years ago)
Thought I should check in on this thread. Points added for pplains and kate78, who is now in the lead.
I don't see any other obvious ones I've missed, but do let me know if I have. (I think I'll bookmark this thread.)
― jaymc, Monday, 22 July 2013 17:50 (eleven years ago)

Anyone have Peter O' Toole?
― gyac, Sunday, 15 December 2013 18:10 (eleven years ago)
I need a revised score too (had Scott Carpenter)
― Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 17 December 2013 14:18 (eleven years ago)
I see my list of people who will have good health and survive has bode well for Alan Vega, Valerie Singleton et al.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 17 December 2013 14:21 (eleven years ago)
Now updated for Mandela and Carpenter.
No one had O'Toole or Fontaine. Was surprised that ailsa didn't have Ronnie Biggs.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 18 December 2013 14:31 (eleven years ago)
I was surprised too! I've had him a few times in the past. I think at the time I forgot he didn't actually die at any time after he was released from jail four years ago to die at home (my reason for keeping included Al Megrahi)
― ailsa, Thursday, 19 December 2013 01:08 (eleven years ago)
Barring any last-minute surprises, the final standings for 2013 appear to be set:
1. kate78 (133 points: Hugo Chavez, Margaret Thatcher, Annette Funicello, Bernadette Nolan)2. nostormo (106: Chavez, Roger Ebert, Lou Reed, Nelson Mandela)3. Elvis Telecom (97: Chavez, Thatcher, Funicello, Scott Carpenter)4. abanana (95: Van Cliburn, Bonnie Franklin, Chavez)5. Matt Armstrong (72: Chavez, Ebert)
Congrats to kate78!
― jaymc, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 01:14 (eleven years ago)
Btw, I've decided not to run an ILX Dead Pool for 2014, though if anyone else would like to take over, I'll gladly participate.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 01:19 (eleven years ago)
Betty Davis lives another year. In other news: Lyndon LaRouche will never die.
― Viceroy, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 01:20 (eleven years ago)
And all my guesses had a healthy year.
Did not nom Thatcher for that very reason.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 01:23 (eleven years ago)
Jack T. Chick will never die either.
― Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 1 January 2014 01:27 (eleven years ago)
Congrats kate78!
I take solace in winning real world money this year.

I volunteered by private message, but you go ahead.
