I like Ivy too and I think she was lucky she didn't have to lipsynch against Lineysha. I didn't expect her to do so well (but her Celia Cruz was unforgiveable).

Season 2 still the best so far, I think.

I just binge-rewatched season 3 over the weekend on Netflix and I might have to vote for that one. Then again I just like Raja a hell of a lot, so.

Yes for Raja and Manila. But the rest, not so interesting. Yara-Sophia maybe...

It actually came down to the right final four I thought, Alexis was a character in her own right. But yeah Yara (Xara?) was next level.

I still haven't seen season four! For some stupid reason it's not on Netflix -- it was for about two seconds and then went away again without explanation. (Already know who won, obv., but I'd like to see it happen.)

Season 4 was pretty good, although they tried to create too much unnecessary drama. But I'll let you see by yourself.

I don't know why but I think I like Detox. Jinkx is great but I dunno if the unglam thing is going to hold out for her or not. I love her for it, but it could wear thin.

I will say this, have started following her on FB -- win or lose she seems to be having a blast and is booked for other live appearances and things and more this year already, so I like to think of her as winning already!

Meanwhile, it's a little surprising to see such a mostly white group at this point. Not that I think the show is biased, appears to be more luck of the draw season by season in terms of who survives.

I do have to quibble with some of the assertions there -- while Sharon's success in 4 is great, in 3 Raja was more than a little disruptive herself -- as was Manila really; if anything Alexis was the one let go at the end precisely for being full pageant.

I haven't watched all the seasons, but I don't get the impression that they are only seeking pageant or necessarily favoring that. And while I noticed the lack of "camp history" in the S5 girls, isn't there an argument that maybe a lot of queens are trying to let go of that, like that cliche of teens not wanting to know about older music? I mean, I'm bummed that they don't know who Little Edie is but maybe when they see Jinkxs win they go find out. And it doesn't mean they're any more terrible for what they don't know of their history. If anything, it's kind of fabulous that they all came to that same place *without* it.
I dunno. That article seemed a little too buttclenched.

Yeah, I know this is probably the exact rongest angle to take on the show, but I'm finding it very interesting navigating my impressions/levels of attraction to certain contestants when they're in drag vs. when they're not in drag.

Alyssa's *almost* attractive but it's like her lips are too big for her and she keeps tripping over them when she talks. Beautiful eyes though.

I think in the history of judging on this show, it's MUCH more damning for a contestant if Santino is the one calling you out on the runway. Michelle always has her favorites but she's always been a tough critic.

And let's face it: she HAS a point. Jinkx is supremely talented and funny and insightful and it's been great watching her character develop this season, but the LOOK could be elevated for SURE.

Little Edie does indeed use a magnifying glass a lot in GG.. Good work, Jinkx! Had to turn the movie off though, it was too depressing for me. I do agree Jinkx could be a bit more glamorous. Not sure if I can ever look at Ivy the same way after that terrible Marilyn - the Snatch Game means so much to me.

tbh i don't really think coco has much of a chance for the final 3. she's good for a lip synch, yeah, but she's had 2 high energy dance songs versus a couple self-conscious queens. all it takes is a broadway number to take her outside her comfort zone and she's toast.

Finally Coco starts playing! Still I liked Alaska's roast the best, but they were both funny and so was Jinkxy.

A lot of people didn't seem to buy Roxxxy's tears, but I was really touched. How can you be cynical about a story like that?
And when you saw Untucked afterwards it made even more sense that she was in that headspace on the runway since they had just been talking about it backstage.

Yeah the Untucked scene brought it home. The girls have a pretty good bond it seems - is that common? I've only seen part of S3

Yeah pretty hard NOT to be moved by that. TV is TV and 'reality' TV is a production and so forth, but there's a sense I get -- taken in part from RuPaul's own thoughts and comments in interviews, he's clearly big on working out from rough times via therapy/rehab/what have you, that life isn't just sass and fun and games and glamour -- that there's a priority in the show on those kind of emotional moments beyond drama for drama's sake. That's kinda patently obvious given the still massively homophobic world out there, but something like being abandoned at a bus stop, or (say) leaving a kid brother behind with an alcoholic mom compounds that. I think it's a big reason why the show appeals -- it's 'just' a series of sometimes goofy competitions, sure, but always underscored by something more.

Yeah the heart of the show, the human element of it, is a lot stronger than in other competition shows I've watched. It's really something

Like, they do use those moments to hints at a downfall or a success but on shows like PR or Top Chef that's all they're there for. I like that even though it is used for drama, that's it's still treated as something that really happened to a person, and you see it's impact on the group & not just the contestant in a vacuum

So did Ivyyyyyy really deserve to go so early? I thought she was gonna last longer than Coco & Alyssa. And for good drama, they should've lipsynched against each other last night. Coco deserved it imo.

Yeah, I was wondering. Bummer to see her go because that leaves Jinkx as the small/quieter one among five larger than life types. Still I almost think that'll pump her up a bit!

As long as Alaska's still in the running as well, I can't complain too much.

Bummer to see Ivy go because her face was a really gorgeous canvas, but ... she really didn't have a strong enough personality to go much further in this competition tbh. (I feel the same way about Roxxxy, too, for the record.)

My rankings of the six that remain:

Alyssa looks good most of the time, but she is not the sharpest or most original girl in the world.

Yeah, it's clear hers isn't a case of selective editing but of a genuine lack of comedic chops.

But her look and carriage are, to me, clearly among the best in the field.

Interesting that we're getting more backstory coming out now -- they just had a sneak of the first few minutes of the next show, and giving nothing away about the minichallenge, turns out Detox lost her boyfriend two years ago (as in boyfriend is dead, not just broken up with). Combined with Coco's story of her parents being gone and damn. Alaska's the only one left that isn't carrying a big backstory event that we know of (yet).

I thought it was interesting that in comparison Ivy's apparently had just a nice supportive upbringing, I guess, based on that chat with her mom. (Also, what a bummer. "Talk to you when I'm home!" *two days later* "Uh, guess what!")

I will say that the main challenge of the next episode involves telenovelas. I CANNOT wait. But for whatever reason it's not running until April 1.

Rewatched the runway presentation and the commercials and ... yeah, retroactively downgrading Alyssa and upgrading Alaska. The main reason? Alyssa looks fantastic every time, but that's partially because she looks basically the same every time. "Dressage horse" and a one-trick pony. But it's a great trick, et al.

Whatever else happens, I'm still too through with Coco. She's reading at a fourth-grade level.

But her read on Aubrey O'Day was outstanding "....like she WON Celebrity Apprentice!"

Going back to watch some of the Untucked episodes from previous seasons (of which I've only watched 2 & 3, the only two available on Netflix), I'm starting to get a sense of what's sort of bugging/underwhelming me about season 5.

Chiefly, the animosity this time around seems much more capricious, which is I think symptomatic of it being more obviously and unconvincingly engineered. I don't think there's a soul left who doesn't think Coco and Alyssa have been playing up their beef for effect, but as that vehicle has been running out of gas lately, it seems Coco's been stuck in step-off mode without a focused target.

There's no dynamic here anywhere near as compelling as Heathers vs. Boogers, though admittedly pageant vs. comedy seems like it will be a forever fertile field for flamewar (and Alaska puts that into great perspective).

In that sense, Jinkx's transformation from comedy into potentially stunning runway queen is the true headline here.

I love Alyssa look, I love the way she carries herself and how graceful she is but she is missing a depth, not even comedy but just some kind of personality that makes her MORE than her look. I dunno, she doesn't quite feel like the complete package to me.

There is just something about Detox that I love. I like that she always just throws herself 100% into whatever's given to her, challenge wise. She doesn't always rise to the top but she seems to be in the moment. Jinkx is the same way.

Alyssa's too in her own head, I think is maybe where she falls flat? If she unclenched a little she'd be great. Same with Coco.

Roxxxy's all look and no substance. And she's getting really childish about her competition, the same way Coco is. I think they're both doomed to go in the next couple of weeks unless they stop looknig over their shoulder.

oh and Alaska's just cool. A little less finessed, but she's fun.

alaska jinkx and detox are my top 3, but i'm sorry to say that i'm a little underwhelmed by detox

Further re: Jinkx one of those interviews talks about how her drag name comes from Eddie Monsoon of Absolutely Fabulous and that the conceptual goal is someone always intentionally just out of sync/behind the times. So yeah, total star.

Yeah, agreed on that. Season three built up to this kinda amazing kaleidoscope towards the end; I actually think the most dramatic moment was when Alexis and Yara ended up having to face off.

The weird thing is this season could definitely have that same sort of squaring off. RoLaskaTox was fixing to be that powderkeg of mean girls, but it disbanded before any real drama could start, and all of them look the better for it.

It's weird, but this season's presumed frontrunners (Detox, Jinkx, Alaska) are all a lot more magnanimous in their dominance than, for instance, Raja or Tyra ever were. And good on them, but it's just a shade boring in comparison. I really go for Raja's unfiltered confi-dominatrix persona.

Really, I just treasure every moment RPDR gave me to spend time with Raja. *gush*

i was very happy to see alaska display a different look on the runway, i think she's got to start displaying more variety in her makeup & silhouettes in order to maintain the judges' interest because the big bouffant look was starting to get way too predictable

i think raja's punk look for the music challenge in S3 was one of the best runway moments of RPDR, i still think about it

Oh my jesus, I forgot all about Raja's Carrie dress.

Yeah pretty much EVERY outfit Raja had:

1) confirmed why getting the crown was well deserved

2) insanely memorable

3) had SOMETHING out of left field

And yes as well to Raja sometimes coming out with those cutting/angry moments too -- I think that a lot of that came from her being older/more experienced/DGAF while following her own particular path earlier on in life. I half suspect Jinkx etc. would have that spark to them more clearly if they were in later on as well (Alaska definitely shows more flashes, especially now re:Detox/Roxxy). Where Coco, who IIRC is Raja's age at the time of season 3, seems in her career to have taken a way more conformist approach and is a little taken aback/does not get something that differs, thus the comedy slams. Based on what we were shown, that lip-sync put the earlier one that gave both queens a chanté to shame. Coco had the rap down, and I understand why Alyssa had to leave this week given her ill-advised choice of words about coasting to the top on one LS4YL after another. But damn, that was not the way I wanted that rivalry to break.

I can only presume Coco's days are numbered, but the "dress up someone who doesn't normally do drag" episodes have a way of really blowing a cyclone through the presumed order of things.

After the last few Untucked episodes, I'm thinking Alaska might have Miss Congeniality wrapped up, unless Jinxx folds under pressure.

A little but it's also VERRRY RuPaul in terms of happiness/health/moving on. Not a complaint, it's just how he rolls. Also everyone hopes for a little closure, I guess. I was actually bummed they didn't talk to Roxxy's drag son in the audience, or maybe they did but in the final cut they decided to keep the focus on his drag mom Erica Andrews having passed.

The thing about the finales now (thinking last season as well) as opposed to the earlier ones was that the earlier ones were, if just as staged/edited (of course!), then more low key/intimate/isolated, while the crownings were similarly so. The shift to this kind of full-on combined presentation changes that dynamic and I think by default a lot of things are lost that might be more easily talked about in the original way of doing things, but the flipside is just the sheer fun of it all now that a fanbase has built up -- and hey, it's actually live audiences that the queens are most used to presenting in front of, so there ya go.

xpost hmm I didn't think of it that way. That makes more sense now. One of the things I've really loved about the show is the way her genuine concern for the girls comes out every now and then. Like even when there's total bitchfests, it's cool the way she tempers it by being kinda caring and human. I really like seeing that.

And of course we also now know why it's "IVYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WINTERSSSSSSSSSSSSSS." I liked how Ivy was happy to finally know herself!

Some fun here from last night's New York party. Including a kind-of cryptic hint that three coronations were filmed but nobody knew which was going to be chosen, which would make sense:

According to Jinkx, who spoke to EW over the phone this morning, there was plenty more going on backstage…

“The three of us were sitting and watching the show together,” she said. “We found out who won at the same time as America did,” and Jinkx was just as relieved to hear her name as the milling fans. That said, “We were all in tears.”

Meantime:

As for the final three, Roxxxy delivered a surprisingly crowd-lifting lip-synch to 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” IIn stark relief to that pageant-queen polish, Alaska took the stage in garbage bag couture that put “punked-out” attendees of last night’s Met Gala to shame. Tears streaked her face as she growled a bitterly ironic rendition of Abba’s “The Winner Takes It All” before literally being dragged off the stage like… well… yesterday’s trash. Jinkx admitted that her good friend “stole the show for a second, and I completely supported it. Why not? If you’re on that stage in your trash bag gown, you go for every last minute you can get.” She did, however, say that Alaska’s eyeliner dribbles weren’t just performance art: “The tears were real. What I love about Alaska is that she works with what she’s got going on. If she’s crying, she’ll cry, she’ll let her makeup run, and she’ll go out on stage and do the most fantastic, tearful number that she can do.”

Jinkx, of course, delivered the night’s final performance as America’s newest Drag Superstar. She had narrowed down her coronation anthem to three diva-approved contenders: Evita‘s “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” Cabaret‘s “Maybe This Time,” and “I’m the Greatest Star” from Funny Girl. In the end, she went with “Star” because “it’s certainly a song that I felt spoke to my experience on Drag Race. Funny Girl, the story of Fanny Brice, that’s something I can definitely relate to.” Plus, she added with a laugh, “‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ was just a little too much for a drunk audience at 12:30 [a.m.].”

Of course, not every element of Jinkx’s victory night was so well planned — her beaded champagne coronation gown, for example. “I normally have all my stuff designed by J. Von Stratton in Seattle, but I kind of totally forgot that I needed a dress for the crowning,” Jinkx confessed. “When I got into New York two days ago, Ivy and I got drunk, and she took me dress shopping — I can’t even tell you where it came from or who designed it. I just bought the first dress that spoke to me, and it ended up being perfect.”

I just love that last part.

i remembered last night that I hadn't quite finished season 3, so i've now only got the finale left. Man oh man the transformation of Tyra is almost unbelievable. The speech she makes in the Diva Award episode, my jaw was on the floor. Tyra is funny! and legit sincere without being weird and awkard. I already know she won but damn I can see why. No idea why tatianna made it as long as she did, it's like if you blew in her ear, pillow stuffing would come out the other side.
I loved the old-queens makeover in that season too. Some really beautiful moments in that one, such a good concept.

And I'm about 1/3 into S4. I am crushing HARD on sharon needles out of drag. jesus. She has such a good personality in general, I really like the way she is in the untucked episodes. Not at all what I expected. And I really love seeing the way Latrice is kind of taking Jiggly under her wing. Unlike Phi Phi who just turns every heartbreaking moment into a story about her, which woudl be fine if it was her moment but gaaaah would you STOP

Raja definitely was the shit. But man, that was one bitchy season. Not like normal bitchy, but like, embarrassing high school bitchy with all that heathers/boogers bullshit. That whole thing was pretty facepalm. I am NO fan of Shangela, she's annoying as hell...and yes Stacy Lane Matthews was 90% of the time not rising to the challenges at all, but still. That was some really junior-level stuff going on behind the scenes. I had kinda liked Delta Work's steez but the way she embraced the heathers thing, and the bitchiness from her was really offputting. Raja too.

But at the end of the day, one thing is clear. Mimi Imfurst is batshit fucking crazy.

Heathers vs. Boogers was an essential conflict, imo.

I only know Mimi Imfust from a local drag revue she hosts but her personality strikes me as deeply unpleasant. I remember one time she asked for a bunch of volunteers to come on stage and then made them totally on-the-spot take their shirts and pants off and stand their in their underwear (or look like spoilsports if they didn't want to or felt uncomfortable) and started fucking *grabbing their dicks* and I'm just like wtf is wrong with you? No one is consenting to this (except but passively to save face I guess)! What if this, I don't know, makes the participants deeply uncomfortable? Then they had to run around and people shoved money in their undies for "charity" or her tab or I don't even fucking know but it was p disgusting.

Also it was in front of like hundreds and hundreds of people.

i finished Season 4. Jesus Christ Phi-Phi was fucking CRAZY in that last untucked, I thought she was going to start pulling her hair out in clumps and hyperventilating. I mean, I felt awful that her household was so combative and horrible,that stuff about being put in the hospital was just sad as hell....but I don't think she realized that she was just spewing all that she had learned in that house all over sharon and willam.

the Dad Makeover episode I was kinda, well that was cool ...but the untucked was sooooo much better. Hearing those guys talk to each other about what they had learned, and how supportive they were of their queens was really moving.

AND I finally got my hands on Season 1

I wanna see a Bebe/Raja runway walk off holy cow Bebe was/is FIERCE. She didn't really register with me for the first episode or two, but when she came out in that leopard catsuit with the mega-wig it was over. Everything about her is just on point.

Love Nina Flowers, and Ongina too. Shannel is like her own season of Drag Race, man that girl has the ego of 10 drag queens jesus christ. I didn't really understand why Rebecca went as far as she did, she didn't seem THAT stunning to me.

Tammie! oh lord Tammie. I loved her aesthetic but you guys, I have never seen a more terrifying drag queen in my life. She looked like a possessed puppet. And how insane was it when Rupaul let her have it in the reunion? Omg. I was kinda surprised she didn't edit that out...so I guess I kind of love Ru more for leaving it in. That was some real shit.

Hell, even this season when they cracked down on the contestants security after my shenanigans, one of the top 3 girls smoked out with a producer who likes to collect the queens as friends like trading cards. That producer is still employed by them despite blasting me in social media and dressing in a way that I could only say emulates the dancing Fantasia hippos complete with ratty wigs

I just binged watched this season and omg why have I waited so long to watch this now I am fixated with Jinkx's mouth.

I know that every reality program needs a villain or a center of conflict, but I think all of Roxxxy beefing with Jinkx took valuable time away from Alaska, and what could've been wall-to-wall hilariousness just devolves into typical reality tv bickering.

Finished S4: I like Sharon, but Willam 4 ever, she pretty much sustains the early parts of the season -- her horse laugh is 2 DYE 4 -- and what an exit. HERE'S ONE FOR THE ROAD. (Working my way through Willam's Beatdowns, wonder if she ever gets around to making fun of this makeup toot.)

Now here is a challop: Phi Phi is pretty run-of-the-mill reality villain, I don't get the over-the-top vitriol directed at her? I mean, yes, she tries sabotaging her competitors (and the novel thing is it works once why because stupid), but everything else (e.g. picking fights, attention-seeking) is pretty tame stuff? I'm probably immunized to this sort of hijinks, especially when it's not directed to newborn kittens like Jinkx.

Anyway, just started S2, really amazed at the lousy production values over here: the soundtracked music mixed way too low, lots of dead air, vaseline on the camera lenses, most of the queens being earnest and not playing a Reality TV Character whenever they're on camera, etc.

BTW, is S1 worth tracking down?

S1 is definitely worth it - Bebe needs to be seen to be believed.

I had a problem with PhiPhi mainly because a lot of the attacks she levels at her competitors are really personal. Like it feels like she legit HATES Sharon and Willam, and is trying to really do damage verbally. I mean, she's young so maybe that's a lot of it, but especially towards the end of that season she just lost control I think and it just seemed incredibly ugly to me

Our community is worldwide. We fight not just for ourselves here in America, but we fight for our family in Russia, Brazil, and anywhere they tell you that you can't be who you were born to be. We continue to defy the world leaders who want to squash us, and show them that as a community, we are stronger than they could have ever imagined.

My year as the reigning Drag Race winner may be coming to a close, but my efforts to change this world for the better are only gaining momentum.

I have many projects that have been in the works, just waiting for the right time to release unto you all, and they are right around the corner.
I am excited about the work I am doing with OraQuick, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research center and the HIV Vaccine Trial Units, and of course my future Projects with World of Wonder and Logo TV.

Jinkx Monsoon has not "Vanished" and she is far from done with the work she is doing for all the queer little ducks out there. Monsoon season is still in full effect, so stay tuned for all that's in store.

Don't have Logo so I couldn't watch the ep in real time. I did watch all the introductory vids for this season's cast last night before going to bed and the two that most stood out to me were Jinxx Part 2 and Olivia Newton-Minogue. Oh, and Vivacious could be some mature fun too.

Maybe it's just that they got put on the spot, but some of those queens were extra dumb, too.

Those three are kinda my initial favorites though I'm still getting the measure of Milk and Pandora's drag mom. Once you actually see that first episode, much will be revealed (and, vis a vis your final comment there, confirmed).

EPISODE 2...well THAT was an easy decision about who to send home. Besides which (redacted) killed her performance from the get-go whereas the loser clearly didn't know all the words, so.

Trinity is something of an initial favorite for me now because that main stage look ruled, and she had some sharp comments here and there. Be interesting to see how she mixes it up with the Gia/Laganja wing next week.

Not all the way through the episode just yet, but now that I've seen them all out of drag, I can commence in my shallow game of selecting my boy-queen crushes. This year's honors go to Milk, Ben and Trinity.

I would call that a good trifecta.

She's a *little* more sympathetic but at one point when Michelle asks to see some of her other outfits she refuses saying about how she wants to keep it a surprise or something. I'm all "Hey I thought you wanted the exposure here." You can tell Michelle's a little surprised if not put out by that.

Loving next week's horror themed episode already. That should be a blast.

Joslyn -- I dunno, the ditz act ("act") was endearing to me!
Trinity was a total surprise -- thought we were going to get another Gia -- but I guess I shouldn't have been because she knows how to present herself, and she was totally grounded in her talking heads.
Courtney -- I think she'll get her chance to spread her wings a little more once the competition gets going.
Milk -- going to be curious how her genderf*ck is going to play out, if she'll keep with it or if she'll tone it down (I assume the latter).

Oddly enough I've grown to like Gia a bit on rewatching just because she's SOOOOO loving herself but kinda just swishes through it all. An interesting and slightly frustrating part of the show for me is whenever they juuuust touch a little deeper into questions of stereotyping on several fronts but can't go too far without derailing the episode format (so that always makes me wonder what else was left out via editing). Last night had two instances at least -- Bianca telling Trinity how to act and Trinity going "Oh, so you mean like a black girl" and then critiques on how April was supposed to play 'butch.' It's always played for laughs and/or SHADE but it's obviously not just that.

Yeah, Bianca is in the clear. I worry that both Ben and Milk are going to eat her dust. The latter, in particular, hasn't made anywhere near the mission statement I feel she intended to make.

I think now that the two groups are mixed up a bit it'll take a little longer for people to reemerge. And sometimes it takes a while anyway -- nobody was thinking Jinkx was anywhere near the front last year until Snatch Game kicked in.

Racial approaches have been very ~iffy~ on this show for a while (S3 was difficult for me to watch in large part because of this), and I was thoroughly uncomfortable during the first Bianca/Trinity exchange where B said T should act ghetto.

Mm. It's definitely of note whenever it overtly surfaces, and you have to wonder what isn't said/shown.

On a lighter note, I think we're all underappreciating Gia's moment where she doesn't know how to pronounce DeLorean or what it is. (But then again, she was born in 1988 or 1989, why WOULD she know?)

Alright I thought the Rusical was briliant ! Lucian did an amazing job and surprisingly so did all the girls. Although Ben was my favorite.
I'm sad to see April go so soon cause she's had some great looks. In past seasons, there are way worse queens that stuck around for much longer.

And yeah the musical was fun! Courtney and Adore sure can sing, it was kind of a tossup in the end for me. Did like the fake award ceremony camera editing touches there.

Gia Gia Gia. The bit with the photos of kabuki as a kid was really lovely! A little background and a little more depth. But then she doesn't know what the Tonys are and THEN she complains about ignorance in the Untucked? (Unless the editing intentionally left detail out.)

Like, her acting in the previous episode turned out fine, and so was her singing this episode! Maybe that's just her process: freak out, lash out, turn out.

I do wonder how much of Gia's schtick is a put-on simply to get screentime, esp. considering her defensiveness about getting called ignert. (But then, actually being dumb could also explain said defensiveness.)

If Trin deserves hugs, then so does Laganja, because... well, I forget why, but what you said at some point in time, vaguely in the direction of Laganja, or at least within her hearing distance, was very hurtful. Seriously though -- this season has a real deep gap between the veteran heh heh high fliers and the talented but deeply insecure, heh heh high-maintenance drag rookies.

I also want to defend Laganja to an extent: I'm wagering that a large amount of what she's learned about drag has come from the show, which has inculcated these narcissistic and melodramatic values and beliefs in her.

Yeah there hasn't been any sort of real pattern there for her. Older *styles* sure, but not full-on 'old lady' per se beyond this and the horror film, unless you want to count the opening Golden Girls thing. (Which she won for!)

Just caught up with this week's. (Had been waiting for a night when my friend and I could watch it together and he went ahead and watched it without me. Bitch!)

It was a tight snatch (game), and I don't think they chose incorrectly. Adore and Bianca understood their characters more fully, obviously, but I think Ben showed better improvisational chops, which is first and foremost in an acting challenge.

The montage of exasperated looks from everyone to Laganga's "you hurt me with that remark; did I mention that I cried?" breakdown in the Untucked had me in stitches.

i really wasn't feeling ben until this week. she sorta has the opposite dynamic of milk, being really standout in challenges but mostly pedestrian and competent on the runway.

i find laganja (god, i hate that name) to be pretty tiresome. objectively speaking i don't think gia tried hard enough in the lip sync to win but there was something seriously overworked about laganja's jump-splits and shit. it was like watching the drag version of the star wars kid.

Yeah, Ru's made it a point to observe multiple times this season that getting the audience to like you is crucial, and I think the problem with weirdness as Milk serves it (as opposed to Sharon) is that its primary point seems to be to tell her audience "betcha didn't see this coming." Fine once in awhile, but enough times and your audience is going to think you're calling them dumb.
