I had that same suggestion dropped on me a few years ago. "But they've got little tv's at each table!"
About a year ago, I wrote a story about "where to watch the game" for a magazine with a 60 percent female audience. At every place I went to, where I talked to mostly female managers and wait staff, when I asked where besides their establishment would they go to for the game, the same answer was "Twin Peaks".
I don't know if they were speaking for themselves or suggesting where they thought I might want to go.

My main adult skateboarding friend is a trader so lol? He works from home so I don't think he has to wear a suit. He's one of those traders who just sit hunched over a computer all day. I don't really understand how that works. But he has a whole squad of old skateboarding dudes who go to a skate park together and irritate the kids with their old man shenanigans and helmets and knee pads.
xp rollerbladers are the worst. Scourge of Chicago's lakefront path. They wouldn't be so bad if they didn't flail their arms around and take up three times as much space as they would using any other method of transportation, except maybe Hummer.

Jogging strollers are pretty standard around here. We have one! I mean, that's not a pram, which it seems would be a little tougher to maneuver when you're running, but it's the same idea. Most jogging strollers aren't suitable for kids under a certain weight so maybe this lady just really needed to get a run in.

And you can lock the front wheel for safety, plus the wrist strap.
But, I walked in a 5K pushing Ivy in this set up when she's was a little baby and that was not easy so I can't imagine how tough it would be to wrassle a standard pram for a multi-mile run.

A lot of people who use mobility scooters around here have to ride them in the road with the cars because there's not enough room on the sidewalks and/or the curb cuts are garbage. :(
I hate those little push scooter things. I hate when kids use them because kids lack the awareness not to bang into my shins and I'm always afraid they are going to zoooom out into traffic and I hate when adults use them because come on.

Thought this article was interesting. When I was in college there was definitely a "bro" culture I found quite alienating. Dudes seemed repressed and their lives seemed quite empty. As an adult, I don't meet so many of these kinds of men but it might be the circles I move in. Anyway, whither these toxic masculine gender norms? Is there a way to fight them that won't be perceived as an attack on male privilege? Does it matter? Starting with that masculine gender roles hurt men.

in my experience it's a certain lack of emotional vocabulary that's the issue -- frustration, sadness, anxiety, all either get subsumed or pushed into anger and aggression under trad masculine norms

OTOH, what has been a revelation to me over the years, going through therapy, etc., is that being "in touch with one's emotions" is not what I thought it was at all. I thought it meant being sort of a "sensitive guy" stereotype, speaking in hushed tones, and being articulate, so I thought that I was "in touch with my emotions." It turns out I wasn't at all, and that being so includes clearly and confidently expressing anger (without blowing up), and even just being able to say something like "I don't want to do ___."

I also find the "be a man" stuff to be reductive and internet-attention-span driven. (1) It's not really the source of the bulk of problematic masculinity (I barely heard the phrase growing up), and (2) in some contexts, it's just a proxy for "You, male person, be (an adult/responsible/as tough as this situation requires of you)," so I disagree that it's per se toxic.

Mine for the opposite reason -- arts high school, no sports teams. If anything I'd say that Visual Arts (because graffiti) and instrumental music (jazz) were perceived as more manly, with literary arts and theater sort of in the middle and then vocal music and dance. But there was such a large openly gay population in the school that homophobic bro-ism just wasn't all that possible.

My social circle in high school (85-89) was nerds & dweebs & band geeks and drama queers. We took art classes, read poetry, and listened to the Smiths. We took our geeky girl dates to museums, and we talked about our feelings. Yes, jocks pushed us into lockers and sometimes put us into trash cans. Burnouts and metalheads occasionally beat us up, but usually there was a bit of an outcast-to-outcast détente.
Then we went to artsy colleges, put on sensitive-guy poses, scored weed, and we totally got lucky with the libertine art-school chicks with the nose rings. They dug that we could read and we were willing to cry; we prided ourselves on not being macho in the same way as the jocks who had just recently stuffed us into lockers.
That's the mythology anyways. Now, looking back, I don't think it was anywhere near that simple. "Sensitive guy" is just another mask, indeed it can be just another tool of privilege and power, if the only reason you're putting it on is to get into the pants of a cool artsy chick.

at the same time academics there were pretty intense so you could find your niche with the really smart kids, drama was also a pretty robust program so you could do that too and find your crowd. if you were a visual artist like me there wasn't a whole lot of support.
there was a rumor about a transfer kid who got an erection in the shower at his previous (again all-male) school and he was tortured daily and while by the end of high school he was pretty popular among drama kids and an accomplished actor, a good portion of the jocks would always see him as the kid who got an erection in the shower

I hasten to note that I generally enjoy being male, and I like a lot of the aspects of "maleness" as I received it, to wit:
- Outdoorsy ruggedness- Perseverance in the face of adversity- Stoic acceptance of hardship- Self-sufficiency- Willingness to sacrifice self for family / honor / ideals- Tolerance of dirt / grime / garbage / pests - Taking the initiative in romantic and sexual realms- Handiness
("Handiness" here to be read as reasonable facility in manipulating physical things in the actual world, as opposed to ethereal ideas: Change a tire, fix a leaking faucet, start a fire, lift a heavy object, that sort of thing.)
Of course those aren't exclusively male domains. But when I was coming up, they were regarded as "the guy's job." Taking out the trash? Guy job. Changing the oil? Guy job. Asking a girl out to prom? Guy job. Killing a spider? Guy job.
My wife and I keep lots of tasks pretty equal but I'm pretty sure if there were a mouse in the kitchen, she'd ask me to handle it, and I wouldn't object.

Sometimes I wonder how much I was damaged by this stuff. I always was an intellectual/sensitive/daydreaming space cadet sort of dude, but I think I resented that I was like that. Even now I beat up on myself for not being "resilient" enough. Resilience is a good quality but it's hard to develop if you don't have a strong core of self-esteem.
