I'll be doing this VERY differently this year, but here's where you can keep up with a playlist this year

what's wrong with the last song? Touch Down 2 Cause Hell ended w/ a piano ballad too, but aside from the diminishing returns of doing that twice i think both songs are pretty affecting.

i got a really big steen, and they need some really big zings (some dude), Saturday, 2 January 2016 18:40 (nine years ago)

it sounds almost like he can't wait to die so real gangstas are gonna cry at his funeral. i don't like that sentiment.

ANU (sisilafami), Saturday, 2 January 2016 19:09 (nine years ago)

After certain poignant stanzas and just when I am deeply moved he chills me [. . .] and in a passage of great eloquence rejoices that human life must pass. I was about to put his poem among my sacred books, but I cannot now, for I do not believe him.

I think unconditional thug might be my favorite a-wax release now even if thug deluxe is more of a cohesive album overall.

grant holt (prettylikealaindelon), Wednesday, 6 January 2016 18:40 (nine years ago)

i played the hell outta the first half of Everlasting Money at the end of the year, it's great. I should probably spend more time exploring a-wax's catalogue.

Maybe thats why no one posts any more. No one can remember the origin or who cosigned what and who put who on what song.

Is it safe to say that ATL has finally reached its Papoose era? I love Thug and Future and enjoy Migos but outside of those guys, who all came up in the Gucci era, it's pretty much a desert. I blame Gucci going to prison for all of this - he was obv ATL's main ear for talent.

s/o deej for railing against the new generation of ATL rappers than starting his youtube dump with a k camp song

all joking aside, k camp is actually instructive in that he's not really an auteur in any sense, instead he's a pop rapper whose audience is "real people" and not internet tastemakers, as such he doesn't really get much play in these sorts of discussions. whereas writers are trying to get the first shot at attaching their personal brands to bankroll fresh (no shots @ sisilafami) or which guy is suddenly got a bunch of 808 mafia beats on his mixtape.

future aside "comfortable" was prob one of the 3 best songs to come out of ATL last year

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 20 January 2016 02:18 (nine years ago)

K Camp's album was pretty good for a generic major label album. i kinda feel like it was him, not Future or whoever people say, that really got their lunch eaten by Fetty Wap in 2015.

Marc "Misdemeanor" Maron - "WTF (Who Are Your Guys)" (some dude), Wednesday, 20 January 2016 02:20 (nine years ago)

hes kind of personality free which might be part of his problem

i dont really think of him as an 'atl rapper' though

the new bankroll fresh tape is pretty good, way better than overrated ass tape w/ "hot boy" on it. but still just ... alright. hes not substantially better than rappers in any other region?

"Pull Up On a Kid" is my favorite rn:

Keef has had a few jams lately, the big ones this year were bouncin and bih and black ops 3 but my personal fav (which has the craziest zaytoven beat) is "check it out": https://soundcloud.com/chiefkeefggt/chief-keef-check-it-out-prod-by-zaytoven-leak

Because he never really lost it even though he lost the spotlight for a bit?

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Saturday, 30 January 2016 01:31 (nine years ago)

yeah he's pretty consistent, for better and for worse. brevity suits him, though, Trapavelli Tre probably would've been as enjoyable if you shaved it down to 6 songs.

77 lines about 77 albums i haven't heard (some dude), Saturday, 30 January 2016 01:41 (nine years ago)

It's not about "losing it" w him, just that he sets expectations at a pretty basic level. These are really good songs, though

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Saturday, 30 January 2016 05:36 (nine years ago)

So what's the goon consensus on the latest hyped rapper lil yachty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcKIIClndvw

few million plays on his soundcloud for "1Night"; cosigns from Ian Connor, A$AP Mob, Chief Keef, and—most recently—Kylie Jenner.

definitely sounds like post-keef warbling autotune music, minus the more mainstream aspects of keef's appeal, heavier on the bedroom syrup introvert parts

xp- average mixtape length going from >20 tracks to about 10 has been one of the best developments in rap the past couple years (what are the releases that set off this trend? was it future?) but yeah a lot of rappers that aren't high priority would get way more spins from me if they cut it even shorter

? Epmd was almost done by time 8ball & mjg can't out also I love the Chris Spencer but their styles are way more battle rap energetic than pmd or sermon, who were really I think unique in NYC rap for being less consciously "skills" based

:(

question for goons:

so i was thinking, like now i guess basically the dominant rappers are drake and future basically? plus various autotune warblers and post-keef type dudes...anyway my point being, do we now start to now looking at Lil' Wayne as one of the transformational rappers in history? Like in old school terms like perhaps Run-DMC or Rakim where it's like they actually enacted paradigm shifts to what "rapping" was....or is that too simplistic and am I forgetting someone else?

nothing more frustrating than the assumption that success = impact, or the implication that the cream rises to the top. connections and industry cynicism and legal issues are as likely to define what pops and what doesnt as talent/originality/creativity

The original "regular" video got deleted and they had to re upload but I don't know how you can hear that record--or gucci's literal cover of "regular"--and not think zmoney is an obvious touchpoint for it. He has a whole bunch of records w hundreds of thousands of views

and like I said he's a "blip" because he spent two years behind bars! Just because you ignored him doesn't mean hip hop did.

There are ways to bite that are original (I actually like lil yase) and there are more derivative ones like the ppl who were repping for that terrible lil silk song.

"187" is a grower & you dont really hear its full potential until you hear it in the mixx of other chicago drill stuff...stylistically def Conservative Keef but i think it has a forcefulness that sustains front -> back which is rare

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 12 April 2016 21:42 (nine years ago)

uzi vert is blowing up right now, he has three songs taking off at once which is p crazy, to me he's the Bush to Keef's Nirvana but obv that has its charms

here's a solid mix by the 20-year-old dj behind chicago-based traveling party college craze are listening to now (or were a month ago): https://soundcloud.com/dj-hoop-dreams/lost-in-the-sauce

nice little blend of street stuff, the more college friendly stuff (vert, yachty), local & national, gives you a good idea of a midwest-centric but still playing "cool" ish from other regions (like 21 savage)

Good luck with that

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 07:47 (nine years ago)

i mean i see some similarities, they are both female and mix singing and rapping pretty effortlessly but i don't see one as being a "diet" version of the other, i think kamaiyah is more explicitly re-imagining 80s and 90s rap tropes in a post "dej loaf" context (if in fact dej loaf is really that influential i dunno)...like for example the first few synth bass notes of that are so o.g. bay area i almost expected too short to come in saying some "i knew this girl named monique" type shit, or "mo money mo problems" she's overlaying glossy 90s r&b over manny fresh drums and def throwing back to a Juvenile type flow or "Fuck it Up" with YG is total update of hazy type 90s g-funk...

she feels really effortless to me and like she's just grabbing sounds and flows that feel right in the moment, almost the opposite of trying to jack Dej Loaf...I mean sing-songy rap flows are the standard now, between Drake or Future or Dej Loaf or whatever, outside of them both being female I don't really see how she should get tagged as a biter of DL.

anyway I like this a whole bunch & and i think it's also fundamentally west coast in a way that dej loaf obv isn't

rockpalast '82 (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 13:19 (nine years ago)

Bay Area Dej Loaf isn't the worst elevator pitch for Kamaiyah, but I don't really feel like she sounds much like Dej (except for Break You Down, which is totally a Dej Loaf song).

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 14:27 (nine years ago)

This isn't so much about me running to the teacher like "ooh she's biting" more I just don't know what this really brings to the table that I can't get elsewhere

Anyone who listens to bay rap half as much as I do will be over familiar w this musical style, like, has 80s funk ever been out of style in the bay?

Her stuff feels like tumblr reblog aesthetics to me, not diet loaf as in she's biting her but as in, an even more distanced, oblique, Un-investable sing-song

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 15:54 (nine years ago)

i'm def checking for every new dex song. david and i had a conversation a few months back where we agreed we weren't sold on him, and i'm (we're?) still *sorta* not... but also his beat choices are kind of impeccable and his style though derivative has kind of coalesced into something identifiable. i still think the concepts of his songs -- i feel like dmc, i feel like kanye to pick two obvious examples -- are a little rudimentary but he definitely thinks conceptually which i think is generally a good sign. he def has that star power charisma and is very hook driven so i've def come around. at the very least he's interesting as a signpost where, like, chicago meets migos/og maco more traditional atl swaggy rap meets lil yachty mumblecore stuff. this is mostly a yachty song but "we next" is one of my fav rap songs i've heard this year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYxm5y7lqW8

i'm with david on not getting the kamaiyah stuff at alll. "how it feel" was cool enough but i feel like the production and general esthetic are doing soooooo much work there. that mixtape left me really cold, i didn't get any sense of what she brings as an artist besides impeccably good branding. what are the kamaiyah hooks that just won't leave your head?

dej has an icy persona that is very her own and the production on her last EP was cool in a way that wasn't trend chase-y. she's not my favorite artist or anything (i still need to listen to the new tape) but she carved out a space for herself pretty quickly. i'm not sure what kamayiah's thing is beyond "i have a brick cell phone and rap over beats that would indicate i have a brick cell phone"

thought kamaiyah was pretty good on one listen (and definitely hooky! and it felt cohesive and distinct in a way debut mixtapes often don't), also thought cupcakke's album was good but not enough to make me open soundcloud every time i want to hear it

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 April 2016 13:57 (nine years ago)

kamaiyah tape is really, really growing on me. nostalgia but in a lived-in way, not trend-jumping or admitting defeat. idk about production credits but there's just the right balance of modern touches to stop you thinking you may as well be listening to something actually from 1995. she really inhabits her beats too, they fit her narrative voice so well.

relistened to cupcakke and at its best it's whoa - "pedophile", omg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8JhwgLxCEA

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 15 April 2016 14:14 (nine years ago)

kamaiyah sounded really amateur-in-a-bad-way to me when i checked it out.

de l'asshole (flopson), Friday, 15 April 2016 14:22 (nine years ago)

amateur is the weirdest criticism to throw at it, it's fully-formed and polished in a way hardly any debut mixtapes are. a def contrast to all those "20 tracks at 128kbps of rapping over whatever beats are lying around" i've ploughed through over the years

watching cupcakke's videos and i feel like there should be an emoji for this. it's weird, it's almost like a female rapper has finally reclaimed peaches using gross-out tactics to make sexually explicit rap "transgressive" except i don't think cupcakke is aiming for that? but it's pretty unique, it's not the glammed-up weaponised sexuality of kim and trina. feel like the youtube typo of "lol kim" was uncannily accurate

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 15 April 2016 14:29 (nine years ago)

like if there wasn't so much obvious care put into the craft, i feel like cupcakke could easily be uploading these videos with the tag LIL KIM PARODY

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 15 April 2016 14:30 (nine years ago)

You guys are clearly not reading the words I'm writing in this thread

Amateurism has nothing to do w the MP3 bitrate I'm specifically talking about her stylistic approach to rapping, and it's not inherently a pejorative; lots of good rappers make use of an amateur affect

I don't care about being first on this, I saw where she first made contact with the press in real time on Twitter lol

Yeah I've played the Cardi B tape a bit. It's nice!

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 15 April 2016 17:36 (nine years ago)

Cardi B is so persona driven I've had trouble hearing the music when I listen, like I keep listening for a moment that transcends vanity project vibes but I realize that misses the "point."

Still I almost feel like cupcakke is the ideal musical version of what Cardi b is as a personality/brand

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 15 April 2016 18:07 (nine years ago)

I've sort of resigned myself to experiencing Cardi via cultural osmosis bc I don't think it will make sense otherwise

this kinda true, a lot of the up and coming artists right now are painting with one or more of those colors and it's very tiresome. i feel like there's some good stuff going on outside of that though.

some dude, Monday, 2 May 2016 19:39 (nine years ago)

I've def said this before just insane to me that recorded rap went from Sugar Hill disco riffs to Bambaataa electro to Run-DMC drum machine minimalism to funky Marley Marl samples to Public Enemy noise suites in like 9 years, and we've been listening to the same fucking Lex Luger style hi-hats for almost a decade

Whiney G. Weingarten, Monday, 2 May 2016 19:48 (nine years ago)

people will always use lex luger hi hats, like there's always gonna be drum kits driven beats. It's just an inovation that happened. Inovation in sound is always faster when instruments are new, as were drum machines, synths and samplers in the 80's.
Not to say i'm not waiting for a new sound in rap but so called trap beats are not really the same as in '09, then they were this huge turn up trap music, now it's more like they're turned down by activis.

anyway i enjoy the new aesop rock and joe blow albums.

rockpalast '82 (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 4 May 2016 21:59 (nine years ago)

the new De La Soul song is the most tired sounding, dispiriting thing i've heard in a long time ;_;

what is the deal with French Montana? Is he, like, a really cool guy or something? I've never seen him as anything other than some super mediocre NYC rap dude but today on Spotify he has a new single & the features are Kanye and Nas! and I know he dated a Kardashian, feel like I always see him pop up with big a-list features and stuff...or is he like the definition of "industry plant"?

rockpalast '82 (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 6 May 2016 14:13 (nine years ago)

That whole holdover De La Soul EP is depressing. Very dumb of them to call more attention to it with the single, but I'm holding out hopes the album proper will have some life on it.

Evan R, Friday, 6 May 2016 14:21 (nine years ago)

yeah it's almost bizarre, like they sound like they are falling asleeep while recording

rockpalast '82 (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 6 May 2016 14:22 (nine years ago)

A lot of rap acts from their generation falter on free releases. On some level I think they associate "free" with "throwaway." So I hope that's what's happening here. (De La B-sides used to be incredible, though).

Evan R, Friday, 6 May 2016 14:25 (nine years ago)

The Ferg album btw is the most moving rap release I've heard this year. A super loving celebration of his family; the guest roster doesn't do justice to how personal and thoughtful the record is.

Evan R, Friday, 6 May 2016 14:31 (nine years ago)

Em's popularity is more akin to a classic rock band than an aging rapper feel like obviously he had a lot of overlap w nu-metal's audience cz enough that his crowd is more loyal dude energy dudes like a metal band

oh get the fuck out he's not the only person to have had no. 1 singles w/ rihanna

if you don't think its weird that he's the only rap vet who still streams in numbers like those (i don't see jay z on that list...) you're being willfully dumb

if "Eminem" was a genre and "all rap besides Eminem" was another genre, there'd probably be many points in the last 17 years where the overall popularity of each was pretty competitive.

http://open.spotify.com/album/7LWTCCUFJ0USkRscNJJrI5

Don't see it mentioned in the thread but it is high on the Rate Your Music list of the year so I checked it out and I really like it; good rhymes, sometimes clever, smooth delivery and (important to me as a rockist) good production. Aesop Rock is on a track too.

I can add this to the following rap albums from this year that I like: Saul Williams, Dalek, Death Grips and Aesop Rock, making this is the first outside of the "Usual Suspects" for a rock/metal guy like myself (and not really that far outside).

good list whiney

i don't know why i do this to myself but i watched the fantano kodak black review...i guess i just don't get it at all and i'm not even on board with him as the next great thing but..like he says that he sounds slurry and offbeat and yet says he like desiigner....it's like he just chose this guy for some reason to level all the charges against trap on? like he talks about how off beat kodak is and i don't really hear it, like there are dudes way more offbeat than this

also he doesn't seem to even engage with it or try to understand, like there's a mournfulness to some of this like talking about will i live to see my son grow and being homeless in his teens and stuff...it's not like it's just content free trap shit like "panda" or something, he's more of a lyricists than a lot of ppl now....weird, but anyway "Fantano is a dumb shithead" is probably the answer here anyway...

i get the impression that the long gaps between releases by TDE artists has more to do with the label than how long it's taking the artists

some dude, Saturday, 2 July 2016 17:40 (nine years ago)

three years is a LONG time to go between albums for a young artist. If you were a freshman in high school when it dropped you're getting ready to be a sr in college now, or if you were older you've gone from high school to college...that's a huge amount of time for the music's core audience you know?

he's a loner rapper from pittsburg cali like the mob figgaz. he's very dope cuz he's always been able to put his own twist to the vibes he was rockin with, be it mid 00's mob figgaz or 10's trappy stuff.
i highly recommend "thug deluxe", "conceptz n contradictionz", "unconditionnal thug", "jr high 2 the penn the mixtape", "jr high 2 the pen vol 2", "everybody loves me", "jesus malverde", "pullin strings" and "everlasting money".

"pushin keys" is supposed to drop soon.

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 5 July 2016 18:18 (nine years ago)

lol. For me I don't love his old stuff as much as his new, mostly down to production. Some classic old joints tho. I jump on board around 2009-2010.

Hustles Convention from earlier this year is just ok. I really love Jesus Malverde, Pullin Strings, and Everlasting Money which is not spotty to me at all. First 3 tracks are perfection, think there's only a couple tracks I skip.

He does melancholy sad raps as well as anyone

Everlasting Money is amazing. i checked out Thug Deluxe and some of those other ancient a-wax releases last time sisi and someone were talking about them but i didn't like it, too much that dry gully sound. and yeah his voice has changed a lot

I felt like pullin strings was nicely balanced but I'm not always buying his melodic records as on EM, emotion doesn't always ring true for me

listening to a lot of old fuck the police stuff today - Paris, Lench Mob, early Cube solo, still all rings too true, Paris's Sleeping With the Enemy is available (deluxe edition even) with Bush Killa and Coffee, Donuts and Death, he got dumped after the Cop Killer outcry at the time so I'm not sure how or if it was released that year

Noname is often so understated in her guest verses that I was skeptical of her ability to anchor a full-length, but she's such a playful and engaging presence on Telefone. The production is top-notch too, goes for a similar mood as Surf but with the preciousness dialed down about 100 notches.

the uzi vert tape has a few good songs (sideline watching sounded the best i think). i like that he sounds like a pop-punk vocalist sometimes. still can't help but feel he's just repackaging better rap music for teenagers who are too young to remember it. i guess that makes him savvy not sure it actually makes him...... good

the noname tape sounded pretty nice. maybe a little too PBS in that social experiment way. there is more of a neo soul bent tho & some of the beats are pretty cool. also she's got a good persona as a rapper & her voice feels fresh to me. prob more background music than anything but that's cool. "casket pretty" could have slotted perfectly into acid rap.

finally heard the jacquees birdman ep. so good. something hilarious about quees' enunciation on the title track (the i'm lost at sea just like a fisher wo part right before his thugger impression--which itself was impressive, had to check that he wasn't featured) he sounds like he burnt his lips sipping on hot tea

listened to that lil uzi vert tape... meh. feel like the new young generation of atlanta rappers shld've stayed in the incubator a little longer (like how 08 thugger, nerds knew about him but it was kinda acknowledged that he was weird and still figuring out his shit, then he popped off with 1017) like i read that jason parnham fader profile of uzi, 'the first rockstar of post-obama rap' is kind of a big mantle to hang on him given his output so far. i like kodak black and 'lil big pac' was a break through ito hooks but a lot of his verses are still b0ring

uzi vert, incidentally, is from Philly, not ATL. He's also, for all this voice of the young people stuff, two years older than keef

Kodak is from Florida.

Famous Dex from Chicago

The new ATL rappers are 21 Savage and Playboy Carti & Lil Yachty

I like Kodak a lot more than the others...he feels like more a pure writer. Yachty seems OK, like there's something there but I haven't been that impressed on a songwriting level yet (tbf he is the youngest)

uzi vert moved to ATL recently so

J0rdan S., Friday, 5 August 2016 23:25 (nine years ago)

i object to the atlanta references w/ uzi vert bc ppl then claim its just like...as if his style came out of atlanta sing-song stuff when it has a pretty obvious origin point in stuff like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX7C0CqxAEY

lol og maco did once claim uzi vert was ripping him off tho

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 5 August 2016 23:34 (nine years ago)

also, kodak just feels like he's doing something different than all these other guys in general, narratively he's the least keef-like which i find most intriguing. lyrically he's more like gucci at his more loquacious

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Friday, 5 August 2016 23:37 (nine years ago)

I agree with this. Kodak is the only one of these new dudes who feels special - at least yet. It's kind of depressing to be so non-enthusiastic about the newest generation of rappers. And Keef is still way more intriguing than his heirs, unfortunately.

Best Beloved Trump-Pence (some dude), Monday, 8 August 2016 13:31 (nine years ago)

I'm a little cheerlead-ish about dreezy generally, like the album a lot although I think she's got a better project inside her. There aren't records on this where she really shows off her abilities as a rapper, I mean she made her name on a chiraq remix but they have her singing on 50% of the record ... Imo a bit of a&r overreach

The idea that Kodak is not "distinct" is insane but obv there is room for him to develop as an artist still. He's what, 19?

Most uzi fans I know find his new one a disappointment, I don't think it's substantially worse than the others. I do like the opener and zaytoven beats

so weird & anachronistic

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Monday, 22 August 2016 17:34 (nine years ago)

the whole thing is weird, his music is so somber and unglamorous, no impressionable teens are listening to it, even if it was glorifying violence or whatever how would it impact his abilities to fight fires. doesn't even make sense in terms of selling papers, no one knows who he is.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 22 August 2016 17:37 (nine years ago)

yeah and he's so cinematic and literary in tone unless you're a fucking idiot it's super clear he's just taken the Raekwon/Ghost cryptic storytelling vibe to an even stranger/odd place and is not actually even really presenting himself as "I am really selling drugs on the streets" etc...I mean his last album was a riff on a Manchurian Candidate character ffs

been digging Koran Streets, just really good street rap that doesn't really have any marketable "this is a thing" narrative (unfortunately for him), funny tho i'd forgotten he was from the Bay and had been listening to it thinking he was from Detroit...he seems kinda blue collar street rap type thing that D rappers have, I dunno like his vibe (not nec his style) reminds me of Boldy James or someone like that

The new Game album is pretty great! I like that he just finally called an album 1992 and ripped off the Doggystyle cover and is just doing what he does well, west coast gangsta classicism and tributes to the golden age, like jesus "bompton" uses the "it's funky enough" beat AND starts by quoting "6 in the mornin" haha

Some more solid Chance/Noname wave out of Chicago, with some milo/Busdriver-style underground lyricism mixed in.

Malcolm London - Opia: https://soundcloud.com/malcolmlondon/sets/opia

I know hoes that know Ali Farka Toure (voodoo chili), Thursday, 20 October 2016 15:59 (nine years ago)

I'm curious what people think of that wave in general, Chicago rappers put out a ton of projects this year and my general perception is it's a bit ovesaturated but the acclaim was really strong, if not the numbers:

Other than chance,

Joey purp
Noname
Jamila woods
Malcolm London
Kweku Collins
Mick Jenkin
Smino
Saba out soon

This stuff feels pretty of-a-piece. I'd say noname's tape has the most longevity

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 20 October 2016 16:29 (nine years ago)

I'm a big fan of the sound in general, and I appreciate how they incorporate social issues without shoe-horning them or going full-backpack. Noname's tape is definitely my favorite project of those, the Jamila Woods one is nice too. The Joey Purp tape has some standout tracks but it's a little too Travis Scott for my tastes. The Smino tape was a little lightweight, gotta wait for a full project.

The Jenkins and Collins tapes feel like they're cut from a slightly different cloth, even though they share a lot of collaborators with the others--both a little murkier, less bright. I think I prefer Nat Love to The Healing Component because Jenkins always feels like he's trying a little too hard to be profound/sound smart.

i like Smino because of the production.

this doesn't have rapping on it but is great, and comes out of the Milwaukee scene that has a lot of crossover with those particular Chicago artists:

Yeah I'm a fan of Smino and I think he has a great ear for beats (Monte Booker is an absurd talent), but I'm still waiting on him to drop a full-length

I'm not as into Joey Purp's tape—too much sub-Jay Z self-mythologizing—but I think "Girls @" is probably the best song released by any of them.
