just seen what is presumably new single 'Happy Up Here' on Spotify. is good.

The Boys Noize mix of "Happy Up Here" is awesome.

While "Happy Up Here" is a pleasant enough "Eple" rehash, the rest of the album is very good, specifically the bouncy "Miss it So Much", the Kate Bush-y "You Don't Have a Clue" and the stupendously dramatic "The Girl and the Robot" with Robyn. My only problem is with the very irritating "Tricky Tricky" which will probably be a big hit to spite me.

Royksopp do reinforce my theory that Robyn, Lykke Li, Karin Dreijer and Kate Havnevik are all the same person though.

"This Must Be It," the other Dreijer track is my favorite so far. I'm excited about this album.

so I'm listening to Parliament and it gets to 'do that stuff' and all of a sudden I get a total pang of nostalgia for Nice & Smooth ( -- still awesome, "I can get mellow / Lay back, and let my girl play the cello / Hello / I hate Jell-O") and then I get to this new Royksopp video

ok I am just a sucker for this. I love how they pitch-shift modulated a parliament sample essentially into a cover of the one other song I know by them, they're using a sample to cover... themselves!

I love Röyksopp and their latest album is ace. But I like them better when they are not sampling.

(ok that's the only other song I know by them, and it looks like they're normally less into bricolage. still, what they did with those two samples is exactly my kind of thing, these guys are going to know exactly what to do with Melodyne 2 if it ever comes out)

Is this all ILM has on Junior? I've never really listened to this band before (apart from hearing the singles off Melody AM) but I'm really enjoying this album. The Girl And The Robot, True To Life, You Don't Have A Clue - all totally killer. I don't see how the vocalists are a miss-step.

Leaked - I heard it on the mp3 player at work today but I can't say I noticed much about it.

So Senior is a huge disappointment. Junior was one of my favourite albums of last year, all shiny production and great tunes but this one is so dull. There were a few pleasant moments but nothing memorable and none of these songs touch Roysopp Forever from the last album.

It's a decent album. Better than Junior. The third best album by Royksopp.

bld feel free to make yr case for it being better than Junior. i've kinda ignored this because tho it is by no means terrible it is kinda dull and neither as lush nor as busy as i was hoping they could make it.

Curious way to go about asking if you should check it out but ok. I think it's worth hearing. It's got some good tracks, a few tracks that are just ok and no real stinkers. Nothing incredible either.

My case for it being better than Junior = fewer vocals on Senior. Senior is more of a listening album, Junior is more of a 'let's make party tracks with guest vocalists'.

i was v keen on a good listening album from them but this wasn't quite it and i think they really are better at pop songs tbh

Solid steel put a Ray Bradbury short story in the middle of a compilation in 2001 and this feels like an outdated extension of that.

Every instalment of Late Night Tales since the beginning has had a short story at the end.

Listened to Senior tonight for the first time in years and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'd kind of forgotten about it.

I have this memory of driving home in a blizzard listening to Melody AM it was getting toward late afternoon and the sun was fading, in Southern Minnesota where once the ditches are full of snow it just blows across the road so you can barely tell where the road ends and the ditch begins but Roksopp felt appropriate

the first 10 of the 15 lost tape tracks have been released on physical media but fans would have already bought them (and the other 5) online + this has nothing exclusive, I don't know who they think is going to buy this?

Did they ever top Melody AM? I've tried two or three of their other records, a few good tunes but none came close as an album.

I have no issues with Junior as an album but otherwise - lots of great tracks everywhere, yes

None of their albums are as good as Melody AM (esp the 2CD version) but a sixty minute playlist of the best songs of the other albums is.

yeah after Melody AM they were a top-flight singles band for me.

Just listened to the snippets on the website and it sounds pretty interesting, which kind of surprised me. I'm curious if this is going to be an 'ambient, standard, remix' approach or something different for the 3 releases.

Some of this stuff (eg the tracks with Beki Mari & Astrid S) seems pretty generic - not bad, I just wouldn't have identified it as Royksopp.
