And we (Simon H and I) have decided it's finally time to run the tracks version. Only 3 years late! But Imago's excellent tracks poll gave us the kick up the arse we needed. (and he's fine with starting the poll now during his albums rollout)

Please check The google docs nominations spreadsheet before nominating.

There is also a Collaborative Spotify Playlist for everybody to add their nominations. Please subscribe as well as adding your nominations. Getting your noms on early in this plylist might help its chances of placing.

As always we will allow unlimited nominations from everyone BUT please do not nominate more than 2 tracks from one album (per person).

Non-metal tracks from metal musicians are allowed. If they get covered by metal publications or have been in previous ILM metal polls it counts. Which includes the likes of Earth, Marnie Stern & Zombi for instance. No New Order though :)

Also we will allow sufficiently heavy rock/metal tracks by non-metal musicians but they will have to be discussed on thread and have to fit the criteria to be allowed.
We are not purists so nominate away but if you stray from the criteria your choice may be vetoed.
NO Dopesmoker or Flood. They are 1 track albums.

We are allowing 3 weeks for nominations then a further 4 weeks for voting.

That should allow us to rollout the top 100 the week before Christmas.

We want to prove that metal etc has standout tracks that can appeal to anybody as well as being very diverse, so everyone is welcome to join in.

Bardo Pond - Two Planes

One thing about people saying 'metal' isn't a singles genre, which isn't untrue in the sense that bands do make albums as a statement, but many do make standout songs on albums and some could stand alone as singles but the reason they dont release singles is quite simply that radio will not play them and most bands cannot afford to make videos unless they are like Ghost and get a good budget from their label.

If ilxors subscribe to the spotify list I hope that they will see how diverse rock,metal and heavy music can be.

fluffy emo isnt getting a pass but things like hardcore derived emo, nu metal, trad metal, punk etc tend not to ever get recognised in the big ilm general polls so why not give those fans a chance to take part?

I've been listening to those Menace Ruine albums lately; man, they are such gems! Not a ton of hook as you'd expect from a medieval folk/drone project but just the sound of the organ and her voice and the way it's recorded, just amazing.

I haven't thought about them in three or four years but I actually think I like them now more than I used to!

I dont think much/any metalcore has been nommed (except hydrahead/deathwish inc stuff that is more the old meaning of the genre, not the actual metalcore that dominated the metal mainstream in the 00s)
