At Sean C's suggestion, here's a new thread with a more specific subject line to see who's coming to Sneaky Dee's at 8 this Saturday for the meet. Anyone who wasn't at the last one? Fritz? Mark P?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 28 November 2002 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Where are we going to be? And whose playing where this Saturday?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 28 November 2002 20:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Downstairs?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 28 November 2002 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Front or back?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 28 November 2002 21:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Back so long as there's room?

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 28 November 2002 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Downstairs. Wherever there's room, I'd say. Look for the bright red Rheostatics hockey jersey, if you're one of the people that hasn't attended before and don't know what we look like!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 28 November 2002 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean makes an excellent landmark.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 29 November 2002 00:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not that big, Kim!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 29 November 2002 01:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Insert jokes here at your peril.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 29 November 2002 04:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean, now WHO would EVER think of doing such a thing?

(oops... that's just making it worse!)

Kim (Kim), Friday, 29 November 2002 04:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe Kim and Sean can have a booth at the back and the rest of us be up by the windows.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 29 November 2002 14:41 (twenty-three years ago)

how wil i find you without our "landmark"?

dyson (dyson), Friday, 29 November 2002 22:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, yez should know what sundar and Johnny Cat (Mr. Noodles) look like from the last one you attended...but I'll let them give other tips.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 30 November 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am wrking as usual/always, have fun you krazy kats

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Saturday, 30 November 2002 00:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Fritz, yer breaking our hearts! Tell us where you work, we'll drop by!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 30 November 2002 00:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Fritz is afraid of us. (smart man, obviously)

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 30 November 2002 02:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay Zac, now where the fuck were you man!? we sooooooo missed you.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 05:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I even wore the jersey! Hoooly!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 December 2002 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

That you did. You forgot to buy me a beer tho. ;) I guess you still owe me.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 05:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 December 2002 06:01 (twenty-three years ago)

there was no zac? i met zac in boston

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 1 December 2002 06:06 (twenty-three years ago)

*weeps for lack of Zac*

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 06:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I was the most pop person there, if that gives you any idea. Kim was giving me attitude all night.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 1 December 2002 06:29 (twenty-three years ago)

you should be proud. you may've converted a random flower peddler into an add n to (x) fan. it's not just anyone that can do that.

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 1 December 2002 07:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, I was struck down with the Plague. But I did get a coffee table before being religated to worshipping the porclean god and trying to keep down some chicken soup inbetween half watching Malcom McDowell shoot down his school and the clothing challenged adventures of The Carrie Nations.

Don't eat random sausages at auctions within farting distances of cows.

InfiniteMadCow, Sunday, 1 December 2002 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

What makes you think any of us WOULD ever eat er.. "random sausages"?

(I'm going straight to hell now aren't I?)

Sundar, I give everyone attitude. Don't go thinking that makes you special or something. ;)

Hope you feel better Zac.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I do I do, I walked to Forest Hill around lunch and bought fresh, warm, tasty BAGELS!!! Good bagels make my world go round.

InfiniteMadCow, Sunday, 1 December 2002 22:05 (twenty-three years ago)

YEAH. There's a new bagel shop up on the Danforth and I'm semi-hooked, which is bad because I'm not supposed to be eating so much wheat. Or the cream cheese which naturally must be bought at the same time. BUT IT'S SO TASTY.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 December 2002 23:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh if only I'd eaten bagels today. I ate at Denny's this morning. I wanted to die afterward.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 23:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Where the Hell did you find a Denny's? I didn't even know there were any in the area...well, I know of one in Mr. and Mrs. Sauga, but is there one that's closer?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 1 December 2002 23:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Nope. It was the miscisogga one. I teleported myself out there - by magic.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 1 December 2002 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Use the power of the Lox on the bagel, Sean, or butter and honey.

Theres a Denny's on Kingston Road in Pickering, right across from the the mall. Gives me heartburn every time yet the Dagwood or Great American Slugger keep calling me back.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 2 December 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, since Zac spent Nov. 30 with his porcelain pal, it looks like we're going to have a FAP redux this Friday. Location as yet to be determined. Anyone else up for it?

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 7 December 2002 18:10 (twenty-three years ago)

la la la...

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 8 December 2002 04:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Dunno yet if I'll still be in town then. I'm thinking of maybe catching Fred Frith in Montreal that night. If I am around, it might be because I need the time to get things done for the end of the term so I don't know if I'll be available for coming out.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Sunday, 8 December 2002 04:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Just so long as this doesn't mean that you hate us Sundar!

Kim (Kim), Monday, 9 December 2002 06:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Im pulling for a Microbrewery on Victoria, not too far from either Queen or King stations. Though I forget which is closer.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 9 December 2002 15:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait, is that Denison's? I have often wondered if that place is any good! Hm. I'll have to see if I can make it to this one as well, if that's the place.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:11 (twenty-three years ago)

One problem, tho: that's the day the new Star Trek comes out, and I AM THE WORLD'S BIGGEST GEEK. I may be watching that movie instead of drinking. How sad is that?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:12 (twenty-three years ago)

No, I meant Louie's or Growlers I think, same building and I haven't been down that way in a few weeks, its too cold to visit the St Lawerence Market for eggplant and veal sandwiches.
What movie gets released on a Friday? And fear not for movie geekery, I got my 12:01 ticket on Wednesday the 18th for The Two Towers.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 9 December 2002 21:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Whattaya mean, what movie gets released on a Friday? ALL movies do, pretty much.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 9 December 2002 22:29 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't think i can make it either, as my dance troup is putting on our interpretation of "the matrix" that evening.

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 00:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I was actually just watching the LOTR DVD. The extra stuff is great.

Man, I'm not even sure that I want to see that Nemesis thing at ALL after how crappy and forgettable the last one was. I mean, I can only assume it's gonna involve the destruction of the Enterprise AGAIN, but probably just on an alternate timeline, and Data's neural net with probably get compromised and he'll run amok or whatever. I haven't been paying attention at all - are there Borg in this one?

Sean, can't ya take a half day and see the matinee beforehand or something?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 00:56 (twenty-three years ago)

No Borg, just Remans. Me? I'm looking forward to it like a fiend -- but I would be.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 02:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Just found out my partner's mom's flying into town that day too, so I may be entertaining that night. Or maybe I should just bring them back from the airport and then take off and give them a chance to catch up. Hm.

I'm going to go see it because it looks like it could actually be good. I have no problem with them blowing up the Enterprise again, just so long as time travel isn't involved.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

If it's not the alternate universe, it's the time travel. Always with the time travel!

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 02:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Or the holodeck in recent times. I blame the holodeck.
I thought movies were released on Thursdays for some bizarre reason.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 15:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean MUST come now for he has been published in the voice.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Friday = my work Christmas party!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:45 (twenty-three years ago)

late or early?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I mean at work or a proper dinner party?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 19:47 (twenty-three years ago)

It's right from work, I think, but I've got (!!) a job interview in the middle...

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 21:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, Im leaving this one up to Kim. Its her party (and she can cry if she wants too).
Oh crap, I know have that song in my head.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 21:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Dude, noooo, this was for you! But now it should be to celebrate for Sean too. Saturday? Anyone better for Saturday?

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 22:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I can do Saturday.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 23:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Saturday is much better. That way I can predrink for my friend's Back In Canada bash at the Midtown!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 23:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Well alright! Saturday it is.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 10 December 2002 23:26 (twenty-three years ago)

where is this again?

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 05:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Good question.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I was gonna see if I could come to this, but alas, I have to dj an x-mas party on Saturday. [sob]

s woods, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:24 (twenty-three years ago)

jobs, aint they a bitch.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:28 (twenty-three years ago)

What time do you DJ, Scott?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

The whole day's pretty shot unfortunately. It's a mobile gig, so I have to be there to set up around 4:30/5:00, rent a car before that, etc.

s woods, Wednesday, 11 December 2002 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

By the way, I'm probably good for Saturday evening. Name a place, folks. Noodles, this one is on you.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 12 December 2002 02:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah Zac - you chüs the place!

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 12 December 2002 02:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't I already choose C'est What and The Beir Market in past FAP?
Fine fine. Let me get back to this tomorrow morning.
Any objections to something on Victoria street? [just east of the Eaton's Center]

Kim and crew, find me a time.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 12 December 2002 03:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I chose those places, didn't I? Anyhow, this is YOUR make-up exam, so you get to call dibs.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 12 December 2002 03:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Star Trek boy, did you watch Enterprise tonight? What a debacle!

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 12 December 2002 04:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Sean can you bring the Nomad? I wanna see this bad boy in action.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 12 December 2002 04:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Kim: it was pretty awful. I like the part where she ripped off her skirt to ...y'know, get into the escape pod. And the part where Tucker grabbed her butt. She's ROYALTY for gosh sakes!

mark: I will certainly try!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 12 December 2002 04:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Who are these writers? Dredging up the old haughty princess vs. cocky mercenary soldier that pretend to hate each other but secretly are in lurrrve routine? Gee, can't imagine where I might have seen something like that before.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 12 December 2002 04:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Looks like I might actually be making this after all.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 12 December 2002 06:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Afternoon on the Beir Market patio? If its crappy wether Im all for C'est What and the Shepards Pie to end all. Both close to Union station.
Though as I often state, Im not picky just let there be food.

-- Mr Noodles (infinitecow@yahoo.com), August 27th, 2002 10:38 AM.

So how about Growlers. 75 Victoria Street.
http://www.toronto.com/infosite/151016/
http://www.toronto.com/infosite/151016/9.shtml
And the Map
says you wanna get off at King or Queen stops on the Yonge line.
Its on the east side and has three seperate resturants, so basically the sign says Louie's Brasserie.
Does that work for everybody?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 12 December 2002 14:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Fine by me. What time?

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 12 December 2002 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait, is that Denison's?
Turns out it is indeed Denison's. Or at least thats the name of the microbrewery. Good beer, and Im anxious to try the food.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, start at 7?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 12 December 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Oooh is this a dinner thing too?

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 12 December 2002 15:04 (twenty-three years ago)

BTW, what other Toronto ILXors are out there that haven't appeared on this thread?

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 12 December 2002 15:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be eating at least, i think Sean wanted in on the food as well. We will be drinking, or at least I'll be drinking and we all are making Sean drink since we are celebrating his Village Voice publication. So come later if you will.
or I could have this horribly wrong and Kim is just planning for everyone to get smashed.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 12 December 2002 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

"horribly wrong"? You make me out to be the great FAP Satan!

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 04:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Seeing the link there - I'm now pretty sure that I have been to that place before, probably about five years ago, but then I could never remember where it was or what it was called so haven't been back. There's a big basement pub part to it right?

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 04:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Its the big basement I had in mind. Seems a bit more pubish than upstairs and its French Cusine.

FAP Satan, hmm, I pefer to call people Evil Temptress/Foul Temptors?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 04:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Satan is way snappier though.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 04:47 (twenty-three years ago)

And gives you an excuse to wear horns and a cape.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 04:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait, I needed an excuse for that?

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Well for the cape, yes.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 14:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Kim, dress up as Satan Claus and give out little presents to all the BAD little boys and girls.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 13 December 2002 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Fritz, you out there?

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Well this thread got unexpectedly kinky!

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Kim with a whip.
Oh my!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't you people watch South Park? Satan is clearly more a sub than a dom. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Evil Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Shouldn't you be working Mistress Kim?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm taking a floater. Had a brutal headache when I got up and slept it off. Feeling much better now though!

Kim (Kim), Friday, 13 December 2002 18:47 (twenty-three years ago)

So you have time to clean off your cape then.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 13 December 2002 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

haharhar! Look, we've scared the others off for sure now. Can we pretend to be normal for five minutes here?

So the final word is -
it's tonight Dec 14
Growlers 75 Victoria St, downstairs
7pm

I can't remember, can you see all the tables from where you come in? If not, maybe whoever gets there first can leave the name "ILX" at the front.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 December 2002 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I stay away from ILM for a day and I miss so much. Anyway, I'm coming tonight. 21 pages is quite acceptable for a term paper, I decided.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Saturday, 14 December 2002 16:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Its a perfectly cromulent amount.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 14 December 2002 18:38 (twenty-three years ago)

NEWS FLASH: I will not only be attending tonight's FAP (in case there was still any doubt that I'd make it), but I'll also be handing out fabulous prizes*, so if you're hesitating, here's the incentive you need to c'mon down!

Editor's note: prizes may not actually be all THAT fabulous. But whaddaya want for free, you ingrates?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

For a second I thought you were saying that you weren't coming!

Assuming I remember to put it in my bag, I'll bring that Centennial School Harmelodia CD for you to borrow. It's worth a listen.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Since everyone complained about me not putting pix of Toronto FAPers on the Toronto FAP thread, here's pix of the Mr. Noodles Grudge Rematch:

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 15 December 2002 06:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, I can guess Sundar, but who's who otherwise? I mean in case I run into somebody at the airport. You know.

Tom Millar (Millar), Sunday, 15 December 2002 06:53 (twenty-three years ago)

It's 4:35 am and I just got in now. Zac walked me home, the sweetie, now he's probably searching for a late night bus.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Sundar, did that cab get you home ok?

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 09:39 (twenty-three years ago)

everyone is *much* cuter than that in person by the way.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I do NOT have bitch tits!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 10:07 (twenty-three years ago)

How the heck did you get home so fast?

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 10:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I cheated Kim, I got to Bathurst & College and was falling asleep on my feet so I grabbed a cab.
Im just glab Sean didnt post the unflattering pictures of us all.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 10:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Please note I posted my thread, anyone remeber what other ones we needed?
I fall down go boom now.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

5am = you animals.

Sean, that is the worst picture ever, BTW.

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 15 December 2002 13:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Thats aminals to you mister. Ok, here's the FAP epilogue: After we finally bribed a cabbie with enough cash to get Sundar home (on the third try I think), Zac and I went off to sober up at the 24 hr Second Cup down here on the Harbourfront (plus I needed some cappuccino to get rid of the taste of that freaky apricot beer). I did use the men's room by accident though. Oooh me so crazy.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

pic 1: sundar, Noodles (who apparently doesn't have bitch tits), Kim, me
pic 2: mark p, dyson

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 15 December 2002 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh god Kim, I forgot to tell you about the couple who sat down next to us while you were in the washroom. The guy just out of the blue (and sheepishly) started talking about some swingers club he went to in the Bahamas.

I made a mental note of things not to tell a date.
I placed that at #1.
I should not be awake at this hour but I think the coffee kicked in.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

great, that pic of me is just great. mark and i both look like we just injected a shit load of heroin.

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 15 December 2002 17:54 (twenty-three years ago)

That just turned it into a fantastic picture, you realise? I'm dying!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, okay, I just changed the photo of mark and dyson to something a bit more flattering. Kim and sundar bracket 'em.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 15 December 2002 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

You all look so content. One day I will come there and wreak havoc, you understand.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Why was I leaning backwards in that second one again? It looks as if I'm groping Mark. Come to think of it, where *was* my hand? I'm not leaning on the table!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Where are you anyway? The gothic cathedral and poetry slam den?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, that actually wasn't Growlers. We abandoned that place and headed back to C'est What.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean said it best when Growler's was likened to a hotel bar.

Really good bear but the service was amusing it was so bad. And I coughed up Smoked Meat on to Sundar in a successful attempt to stop chocking.

But C'est What got another huge checkmark in my books for the great waiter. He even brought us bread for free at the end of the night when we asked. Including more then enough butter.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 20:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw, come on Sean, post the rest of the pictures. The others were so much more fun.

(I'm fine, thanks. I just started keeping down solid food again.)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Monday, 16 December 2002 00:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, I did some research and turns out I'm not crazy. There is a Canadian band called Run Chico Run, from Victoria. They sound pretty great actually -
http://www.newmusiccanada.com/genres/artist.cfm?mode=longBio&Band_Id=5190

Kim (Kim), Monday, 16 December 2002 00:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Sundar lives!
I was getting worried the cabbie dumped you in a ditch.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 16 December 2002 03:06 (twenty-three years ago)
