if someone hasn’t heard the Fibbers, all you have to do is play “Dragon Lady” and they’re sort of stunned into silence— i remember the first time i heard that track was on a mixtape that an ilxor of old ( username “eppy” ) made for me when i was entering 9th grade and he was my camp counselor. the tape totally changed my life, but that song in particular just blows me away, every time. i still have the tape— i should poll it. it’s good!

The Geraldine Fibbers are a band I've known the name of for 20+ years but never listened to. This album is a monster! It's almost 8am, but it's making me want a beer.

Edinburgh Virgin Megastore. It had this "European" section that always seemed ultra mysterious to me. In hindsight it was a lot of Rock In Opposition, Kraut and stuff like Henri Texier but it also had all the Zoviet France early releases and I was obsessed by them even though I literally knew nothing about them. But, I couldn't afford them until finally Mohnomishe was in the sale and I got it ultra cheap and had a damascene moment when I got it home.

This is my favourite list so far, but it's fairly easily Acnalbasac Noom for me.

May have been turned onto Die Kreuzen by Kim.Gordon wearing their t-shirt on early London dates. An afternoon gig at Bay 63 springs to mind. But did love the ferocious vocals and the sleeve artwork.

Fascinated by the nostalgia I feel when I'm reminded of a time and mindset when sincere participation in positive group activity made my nonconformist mechanism kick in and insist I must be averse to it, whatever it is, I just know I don't like it - cause I do my own thing as an independent thinker or because all this positivity is suspicious or because it's inherently dorky to want to fit in etc.

Admittedly my favourite Blinko thing apart from Cacophony is the Magits 7" - only one song over one minute - I think he's really good at condensing things into a short duration for maximum impact.

Black Flag - Damaged, This Heat - Deceit, Current 93 - In Menstrual Night, Coil - Love's Secret Domain, Gas - Koenigsforst, Psychic TV - Dreams Less Sweet are all amazing albums. I would pick different Current 93 and Coil albums, but I think this is a good list

Zoviet*France has a very enigmatic catalog, along with The Hafler Trio. Apparently both of them originated in a place called Newcastle on Tyne

The Mekons deserved better. That's a pretty good album, but it probably didn't help that the Mekons made at least a couple of greater albums that were a cut above this one.
