Limp Bizkit have announced the new album will be out on Sept 22.
Althought a title is still uncomfirmed it will be preceded a week earlier by the 'Eat You Alive' single.
Its lyrics include:

" No doubt that i'd love to sniff on them panties/i'd eat you alive/if i could approach you or even get close to the scent i left behind/i'd be fine"

could they be the worst, most mysogynistic , HORRID lyrics ever? (or do we wait and see whats worse on the album?)

Alternatively could someone just make sure Fred Durst never makes another record again.

A friend of mine saw Metallica play L.A. last night, and Limp Bizkit was the opening act. Apparently they were booed mercilessly. I think the clock is ticking on their career.

I wonder what he said to the L.A. crowd? "The Angels were a one-year wonder! The Dodgers offense sucks! Gary Payton's points per game avg will go down this year!"

And the new album is apparently called "Panty Sniffer"...I thought that was a joke, but maybe not?

I haven't heard the song yet, so I don't know if I'm gonna defend it or not (you people do realize that I'm not a fan of EVERY Bizkit song ever, right?). That lyric definitely doesn't strike me as necessarily misogynistic (is having issues about sexual relationships inherently misogynstic or only when you wear a backwards baseball cap and play rap-rock? I mean, is Liz Phair anti-male? I think you'd get more evenhanded debates if she wrote "Boxer Sniffer"), but I'd need to hear it context to say for sure.

One funny thing is just about everything Durst is doing right now (lyrics, getting booed, actin' nuts) seems like something Iggy Pop has done.

Korn have covered 'One' by Metallica on their new album btw. Werent Limp Bizkit supposed to have 'Sanitarium' on their album? As well as a cover of an old 'Who' song.

I mean COME ON. First of all, if you're gonna try to take yourself so seriously as this, DON'T START WITH A LINE ABOUT SNIFFING PANTIES. Secondly, he's completely shifting from a "I'm badass" mode to a "oh I'm such a sad widduw boy" mode in ONE RHYME. Like, if you can't maintain a solid POV through a whole song, you can at least try to maintain a similar emotional perspective all the way through ONE RHYME.

I have to say in all seriousness, now that Wes Borland is out of the band, why would anyone care? As far as I can tell, it was the creatie tension between Durst and Borland that made the band even passively interesting. You had Durst the meatnecked mook bully idiot with the psychogeek D&D-playin' whiz kid on guitar. THAT is an interesting dynamic, and it's no mystery why they didn't get along. With Borland out of the equation (replaced, invariably, by some line-towing twerp who Durst can dictate to), it's going to be a total bore. With Borland in the band, the mission of the outfit seemed cloudy (possibly the only intriguing thing about them). Now that he's gone, it's just Mooksapalooza.

I think Fred's just mistunderstood here. "The scent I left behind" is a double-entendre not only referring to the panties that he can no longer sniff, but also his own scent. He's a predator tracking down a scent, thinking about eating his prey alive, but he knows in the back of his mind that it's really himself that he's after, which is why he can't approach it. He's chasing his own tail. It's really about cross-dressing auto-fellatio.

ok. My attempt to clarify.

Part of the appeal of Durst is that sometimes he acts like a businessman, sometimes like a spoiled kid, sometimes like a sensitive wittle boy, sometimes like a frat guy, sometimes like a Wu-Banger. He's rife with contradictions and I find that endlessly entertaining. And just as people who hate him will either treat him like an idiot or like an evil corporate mastermind depending on their whims, I can't help but do that myself sometimes when defending him. However, I DON'T think he's secretly a 2 Live Crew member PRETENDING to be sensitive, cuz frankly he'd do a better job if he was really that calculating (and I think the "quasi-homosexuals" line is way more offensive than anything Durst has done on record, though his behavior at Woodstock 3 was definitely more reckless). He's a smart man who isn't afraid to follow his muse or fuck around, admit his personal weaknesses, be a little reckless, or act on a whim. This leads to lots of contradictions, which is part of why I like him.

This is silly, it's not about Iggy being interviewed, the point is that Iggy's percieved craziness was a form matching content thing re the Stooges music, at least at the time if not so luridly obvious now.

Durst's "madness", misogyny, obnoxiousness is placed over beats which are basically just muzak and hence it's just revelling and basking in a fairly questionable position, showing off, performing, whatever you want to call it.

Bear in mind my first paragraph is a personal opinion on the Stooges, in no way do I believe it's a be all and end all concrete fact that yeah Iggy is punk rock you bitch etc etc etc disclaimer.

You all have to admit that, even if this new Limp record is decent, the press have already written their reviews for it, before anyone has heard it. All the ingredients for the much awaited Bizkit backlash have been painfully predicted for months and months, haven't they? 1) Most respected and second most prominent band member leaves, 2) "bad ass" band frontman meddling with "plastic" pop stars, 3) unusual degree of shouting and self-hype from frontman than ever before, 4) ungraceful album title, and 5) it's just THAT TIME for a public smackdown.

Obviously, while many would feel no target deserves this more, it still kinda saddens me to see a good chunk of music press behave this way through the transparent walls. (this is hardly the only way that saddens me, of course)

Then again, maybe even longtime Bizkit fans will righteously think this new album sucks poached eggs.
