The fact is that Jay-Z is the emperor of commercial hype. Like he says he can "sell snow to eskimos" and in that sensed he's gifted but lyrically he cursed. That nigga deserves much respect for his creativity and consistency but beyond that he's just another emcee.
Do yourself a favor and buy "The gift and the curse"(5-weeks Triple platinum) and "God's Son" but take them for what they are: A hot Double-cd set with few a sparkling moments and a destined classic(Nas's God's Son). I have a lot of respect for Jay-z but being a top seller doesn't make him the #1 emcee. Jigga knows how to keep the crowd jumpin but that nigga Nas can leave them in silence. Nas is the most technically-sound lyricist there is and if Jay-z stays consistent like he has been then he might reach Nas's level.
