Name my club night (indie! post-punk! dfa! electropop! and stuff)

So, based on me playing the above styles, what should I name the night?

Here are five bands currently in my head as to define what I'll be playing: Scissor Sisters, Radio 4, Thin White Duke, Luomo, Q And Not U.

Okay, so. ILM, you are smart and often have better ideas than I. Help! Please?

I called my very similar night 'I was a postpunk before you was a postpunk'.

Unfortunately, that'd be true. Simply because there's just a bunch of retarded post-hardcore kids who like ANGULAR! RIGID! MUSIC! At least the regular bar patrons want a huge diverse mix (or so they've rambled on at length on the bar message board).

Hey, Xii, don't listen to the people who are giving you a hard time about the music being dated. It sounds like a good time... extra points for the Q and Not U. I always wanted to hear them in a club night.
that said, I think you should name the night either:

- Busty Women of Rock, Unite!
- Janet Jackson's Tit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Defend the Indefensible: Rusted Root
- HELP ME I AM ADDICTED TO MARISSA MARCHANT
or
- Your Favorite Gayest and Greatest Trance Buildups

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Thursday, 5 February 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

don't listen to the people who are giving you a hard time about the music being dated

Why should I take it hard? I'm playing a bar. People want to dance to songs they know. And unless there's been some new hot music that came out since December to get little rock kids on the floor, I'm sticking to my guns.

If I get some serious suggestions, I'll even play Killing Joke.

snd, Thursday, 5 February 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

They're not mutually exclusive. Also, its the DJ's perogative to be slightly contemptuous of his audience's taste. Otherwise he'd be doing an 80s night. And if you're not in a place where you feel like you know more about music than most of your crowd, you probably shouldn't be on the decks.

Xii (Xii), Thursday, 5 February 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

If by label you mean "a guy who dubs CD-Rs in his garage." I doubt he'd be terribly offended, since his audience consists of about 35 people in the county I live in.

'Beat Connection' is a good name for a night, in that it will get people in and not put people off, while setting the mood for people who know the reference and being welcoming enough for those who don't.

Compare and contrast: 'Ladytron'.

Depends how cynical/realistic/not bothered/open-minded you're being.

Used to DJ at a night called 'I Can't Believe It's Not Cheese'.

It was huge, thousand or so punters.

N.B. I didn't DJ in the main room. I'm too much like the people posting upthread.
