I CAN'T STANDS NO MORE!

Popeye (blueski), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Music is not like a landscape, none of us have a privalidged standpoint from which we can see the past as a series of peaks and trough. Instead it like a bundle of wires, with beginnings and endings, that intertwine, some of which lead somewhere some of which dont. I got into raving in my early twenties at the end of the 90s at the time I saw britpop as a peak, now I see it as a trough. The truth though is that i simply stopped following one wire and started to follow another.

49. Revolt against 80s indie puritanism by people who liked Duran Duran in high school.

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

aint trying to be negative, it just seems that the 90s was characterised by musical diversity on an unprecedented scale. Evolution was turbocharged by cheep computors and good drugs(=rave) thus it is no wonder that assigning good and bad is impossible. What seems apparent though the situation was better than it is now. It seems than the last decade's frenetic pace has tired music out a bit.

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

soz. suspect crossed wires .. somebody pt mowax on the Bad list .. so i counteracted .. wasn't meant to imply you were being negative .. though agree with your point re music getting tired out to a degree ..
