i know you were supposed to put a false title. but i really am proud of my drawing.

Andrzej B. (Andrzej B.), Sunday, 4 April 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Kim's Beatles cover still defies belief. Kimmo, if you really did that in MS Paint, you need to switch careers.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 4 April 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

You can tell she did it in MS paint. Look at the hair. That proves it. It's really really good though.

Not fair. I don't have it and when I use any paint program I end up using my right hand to draw and can't write let alone DRAW with my right hand. Sometimes it looks ok. That's when I'm really proud when the thing I drew on the computer looks like something a 2nd grader drew.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 4 April 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah Sean, tell me something I don't already know. =)

This is great practice work though. I'm working on another one - barely started but I'll bet donuts to dollars you can guess what it is already.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 4 April 2004 18:16 (twenty-one years ago)

How'd you do that, Aja?

Man, mind sucks. It's funny, cos I'm a good enough artist, just not with a mouse--especially a stuck-y mouse.

John 2, Sunday, 4 April 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Umm, "i" before the link. Don't put anything around the i and no space between the i and the link it's like ilink. I think that's the easiest way to post a pic.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 4 April 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

More Rheos is always a fine fine thing, Kim.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't imagine it would be possible (due to licensing/legal issues) but someone a long time ago (perhaps the first thread) mentioned that these works should be published in a collection and sold - anyone have any insight on how that could happen?

metfigga (metfigga), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Presumably we'd have to get permission to use the artworks from the people or person that owns the copyrights on them... unless it counts as satire or something like that, and assuming of course that that exempts it from needing permission...

the impossible shortest special path! (the impossible shortest specia), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say, judging by the majority of the works that have been published on these threads, that they'd almost certainly all be covered as satire/fair use.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there a means of determining this defintively? And, if the work is deemed "fair use" then everyone who has contributed art to be included in the project would need to sign a release of some sort eh?

Do we have any publishers here or anyone that knows someone? I think the work here is brilliant and there may very well be a market for such an offering.

metfigga (metfigga), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

But then would come the problem of sorting which ones we could safely get away with, and then we'd have to find someone willing to publish them...

(by luff I mean seal-flipper-flap, of course)

You're my number 1 aquatic mammal!

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Øystein, did you get the three Norwegian ones I made especially for you in thread 3?

OleM (OleM), Friday, 7 May 2004 10:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, I must admit that I never saw that post the first time around.

Let's see, the cross and snake is Raga Rockers' Forbudte Følelser.
It took me scarily long to realize that the blurry one is Delillos' Hjernen er alene.
My brother even had a poster of that hanging on his wall for years, so that's a bit sad.

I don't know what the newspaper one is... My head's hung up on Jethro Tull and Guns'n'Roses with that one now, d'oh!

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Friday, 7 May 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It was supposed to be this one:

Blame my memory. :)

OleM (OleM), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, well, I wouldn't have recognized that no matter how perfectly you got it down. I've not even heard of it!
Somethign worth tracking down, I take it? (I can't quite trust the reviews on that site, as it's always a haven for hyperbole-fanboy fnorders)

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I like it at least. It's quite the model of cold-war Polish-Norwegian post-punk, or something.

OleM (OleM), Friday, 7 May 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

not the whole cover, but it's easy enough as it is ...

Funny you revived this - I just went looking for it because DoubleJ radio have ripped off our idea for a facebook thread exactly like this.
