"Rump Shaker" is classic. But I could never imagine it on a list of ILM seriousness, plus it's not so uncool its cool... yet. Then again I may be wrong. The 90's have made their way into the upswing of the VH1 cycle.

It's amazing that the network has gotten into the business of retro-fad-ism. The cycle goes something like this:
1. I love that song.
2. It's been overplayed and everybody loves it, so now I hate it.
3. I hate that song and I can't believe anybody every liked it in the first place.
4. Wait, everybody hates that song, and I used to love it. I love it again.

That's kind of what I'm going for. Hell, I don't understand it much myself. What songs will get CONSENSUS for something as uncertain and ephemeral as OMGWTFLOL? I'm really intrigued.

"Da Da Da" counts cuz it was reissued in the '90s for that Volkswagen ad. If someone voted for "Bohemian Rhapsody" it would count too. Plus, um, everything stays. If it doesn't belong people won't vote for it.

Jesus Christ, how could I have forgotten DC Talk, the Glass Joe of hip-hop? Although I'd personally go for their collaboration with Carman, "Addicted to Jesus," which begins with a dialogue sequence that makes Amos 'n Andy sound positively urbane. Listen here if you must, but don't go around saying I didn't warn you.

Come to think of it, at least a solid third of Carman's 2-CD hits collection would beat any nomination on this least, including my own. But then again, he's got the best gimmick.
