Suggest "shocking" singles Marilyn Manson can cover note for note whilst just shouting the lyrics in a stupid voice over the next five years hoping to get some kind of notoriety by proxy

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 9 October 2004 23:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I would buy every single one of these.

Absolutely. Manson should give up trying to write and follow Bryan Ferry into the fantastic world of covers albums. I'd like him a lot more, and would actually want to listen to his music.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 9 October 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, seriously, Aaron's last one is totally totally cracking me up to imagine.

I owned an MM 'Tainted Love' hoodie at one point! It spelt 666 out of small 'marilyn manson's on the back. I think I gave it to oxfam, which I vaguely regret.

j.m. lockery (j.m. lockery), Sunday, 10 October 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Since he's so keen on destroying the synthpop canon he should do the Human Leagues' Don't you want me, with the singer from Evanescence doing Suzanne Sulley's part.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Sunday, 10 October 2004 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"Manson should give up trying to write and follow Bryan Ferry into the fantastic world of covers albums."

Kevin OTM. I'd like to see a whole series of Laibach-style covers sets.

As for the question, I was going to suggest 'God only knows' for maximum ILM hate, but it really has to be 'The Greatest Love of All'

Why? Well, the song is usually delivered in a sickly-pious gospel style, but contains a nasty egoism that's entirely consistent with the whole Satanist schtick. It also presents a marvellous challenge to such a differently-abled vocalist. And the tune DESERVES to be buried forever under a million tons of industrial metal sludge.

Hahah, no, wait, we're missing the obvious -- "S.O.S." If he covered the 'original' then why not that? ;-)

So, what, should he veer off into SOS in the middle of "Tainted Love" a la "Where Did Our Love Go?"

Xii (Xii), Saturday, 9 September 2006 02:00 (nineteen years ago)

I'm all for that!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 9 September 2006 02:06 (nineteen years ago)

The weird thing is I can hear him painfully, sexily whispering and shouting all of these songs. That's really quite amazing! And it really proves how ridiculous his rendering of "Sweet Dreams" is. Empty, meaningless faux emotion about on par with Dave Navarro and every contestant on Rock Star.

I guess his career is over, but I'd really like to see him do a covers album featuring It's Raining Men, Dance The Night Away and Everybody Wang Chung Tonight.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 9 September 2006 02:55 (nineteen years ago)
