Xpost. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but the song is about not judging people by their appearance, occupation or habits and of course that Hollywood costume cliches do not necesarily applying in real life. The white collar thing is not about shirts. The "white collar" bit is only refering to a clerical/salaried worker as opposed to a manual labourer and is just in the context of that one verse.
