Your terms - statistical methodology - do not have enough search volume to show graphs.

Anyway. Google Trends is an interesting new feature that gives some fun hits, and I think that was my main reason for starting this thread.

For instance, for some reason, the interest in monkeys and the Arctic region have both increased a lot lately, and were particularly hot around the turn of the year. :)

I like when something just hits the ceiling and the bounces straight down like that.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Saturday, 13 May 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

Nevermind, it didn't bounce straight down, but it went straight up and then bounced off the ceiling. (I am not assuming this refers to ILM.)

This thing really needs to implement some sort of actual values for the Y-axis. The relativity thing is cool and all but, I mean, compare this comparison of seemingly popular social networking/blog/whatever sites:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=friendster%2C+flickr%2C+livejournal%2C+diaryland&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all

to this one, with MySpace in play:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=friendster%2C+flickr%2C+livejournal%2C+diaryland%2C+myspace&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all

Of course, I really wish this thing went back a few years further...how fun would it be to compare an assortment of hype graphs? You could learn to predict a band's future based on what shape their curve is - is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah an Andrew WK, an Interpol, or a, um, Lily Allen?

Someone is going to get very rich implementing this idea. I'm serious. I hope they send me a check.
