Matt DC, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1. Bad hair.

Nick Southall, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BECAUSE WHEN I TYPED "HUNDRED REASONS" INTO GOOGLE THIS CAME UP: http://www.cesil.com/0500/5capi4.jpg

Poops McGee, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"HI I'M REVEREND SMITH, WANT TO PLAY WITH BALDY THE CLOWN?"

Poops McGee, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They've played support for My Vitriol, and were still the shittest band on the bill.

Judd Nelson, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
hundred reasons rule and are so much better than all this american shite lying around like linkin park and nickleback all in all u have no musical taste be cause u cant see a good band when they come up to u and slap u in the face u ignorant twats. HUNDRED REASONS ROCK.

Matt w, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Matt W- the 50 identical year eleven students you hang about with in town centre called. They said your new beaded neckchain has arrived, and they've recruited three more fat girls with ironic backpacks.

Judd Nelson, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh.

adam, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The backpacks aren't ironic.

Nick Southall, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They just rock...if they weren't good, you would not be here trying to find 10 x 10 reasons......Even if you got 100x100, they would still rock your ass

They Rule, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

just listen to remmus and then tell me their shite.

aiden j, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have. They are. As soon as you finish your GCSE coursework, you'll realise they're shit. That's why they have no fans over the age of 16.

Judd Nelson, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well actually they have got fans over 16 cus i am! I went to see them last nite and they were the best so shut it!!!! Rock on!!!!!!

Cat C, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think he meant mental age.

Could you give us a few reasons why they don't suck?

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1. Hundred Reasons are bangin. 2. They're from a very nice place called Surrey. 3. They play what they wanna regardless of trend or social restriction. 4. If uve seen the videos u'll c how much they luv doin what they do. 5. They've had to deal with the whole stress of changin record labels in the last year AND still tour & make records. 6. Ok so the hair may be big but its really cool and bloody unique another breakaway from the norm which threatens to take over the world. 7. Their producer was a bloke who's worked with Marilyn Manson so swivel on that any American droopy biscuit fans that seem to believe that they can actually involve such talent as the Hundred Reasons in the same sentence as this mediocre drivel. 8.They asked people not to crowdsurf when i saw them at Manchester cos women were gettin kicked in the head, so they're genuinely un twatish! 9. That makes them good geezers! 10. They attract fans that wudnt be sad enuff to create a page against a rival band quotin reasons why they were shite! I mean come on don't u dumb asses hav lives?! and yes i'm stoopin down to your level but hey its the only bloody one u can understand on god damn it!

Right add a load more or times it by ten i dont really care thats me statin my claim why a Hundred Reasons aren't shite, and i bet u the album is in the top ten on sunday! Mark my words its gonna be subtley iconoclastic, oh yeah baby! No serious just give em a chance.

Clumsy Thief, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

right, i'm a 17 year old 6th form student so i suppose i'm a typical hundred reasons fan. one thing u cant deny is that hundred reasons are a good rock band, they make good music, theyre not trying to be anything theyre not so why r u knockung them, i havent made one called 'a hundred reasons y puddle of mudd suck' (even thought i could.. easily! i mean did you hear that one song...no any way back to hundred reasons!)

if you can name a better british rock band in the last year then please try (and dont say lost prophets coz they think theyre american) but dont get into personal insults about clothes and ironic backPacks coz this is about music, who gives a shit whether you like the fans?!

grow up!

sam, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lostprophets are Welsh, and Mo*Ho*Bish*O*Pi ejaculate over Hundred Reasons' faces from a great height.

I saw the Reasons back in March 2000 at the Roadmender. They were shit then, and they're shit now. OK?

Judd Nelson, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This thread is so funny. I'm off to get myself an ironic backpack.

DG, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What about the fat girls?

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They're probably good live if you like that sort of thing.

But to me their records will probably always suck.

Just my opinion.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 17 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They were bloody awful on TOTP last night.

Andrew L, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Reasons rock. go back to your garage posse and tell the crowd to say 'bo selecta'. Reasons are a quality, genuine, non commercial bunch of guys, not like your average American bunch of bullshit like Limp Bizkit or nickleback. Grow up u bunch of imature boccas.

Stephen Booth, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have no doubt that Hundred Reasons are abominable but "none of their fans are over 16" is surely a duff reason for hating a band.

Tom, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

While saying "All of their fans are under 16" can be seen as a touch suspect. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw 'em on TOTP. Bring back National Service!

Dr. C, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw them on TOTP too and they made me laugh - they're such a local band who know someone who knows someone whos knows someone who got them a record deal. I mean, they ming, they've got TWO identikit Romford metal blokes, a KevBloke on drums and evidently the wacky bloke from the local indie night to sing for them. I have no idea where they're from but they look like they should be from Wolverhampton.

DG, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

do al 100 reasons hav 2 rite in txt msg scrpt?

listen to what you like, but this thread made me laugh my head off.

next, whoever said they're original and non-commericial has to be taking the piss, right?

go back to your garage posse and tell the crowd to say 'bo selecta'.
Errrmmmm... yeah... there's more than two styles of music out there.

And just for fun:
2. They're from a very nice place called Surrey.
So are many many of Britain's MPs. Why is this a good thing?

3. They play what they wanna regardless of trend or social restriction.
Yes, which is why they're up there with all the other trendy rock bands.

4. If uve seen the videos u'll c how much they luv doin what they do.
I very much doubt they'd do a video showcasing how much they hate what they're doing somehow.

5. They've had to deal with the whole stress of changin record labels in the last year AND still tour & make records.
touring and making records? record labels? Blimey anyone would think they were some kind of band!

6. Ok so the hair may be big but its really cool and bloody unique another breakaway from the norm which threatens to take over the world.
YEAH! Fight the system man! I'm off to buy a chain for my wallet and a t-shirt with a swear-word on it to show how bloody unique I am. Fight the norm!

7. Their producer was a bloke who's worked with Marilyn Manson so swivel on that any American droopy biscuit fans that seem to believe that they can actually involve such talent as the Hundred Reasons in the same sentence as this mediocre drivel.
I'm not even going to bother being smarmy here.

8.They asked people not to crowdsurf when i saw them at Manchester cos women were gettin kicked in the head, so they're genuinely un twatish!
Yeah, cos the average band would actively encourage everyone to kick that stupid chick's head in. I'm sure the fact they'd get a law suit from some poor scuff-kneed kid's mum doesn't come into the equation.

9. That makes them good geezers!
That's not a reason - it's an extension of the last one

10. They attract fans that wudnt be sad enuff to create a page against a rival band quotin reasons why they were shite!
For the information of any more Hundred Reasons fans who have Googled their ways onto this thread, this is a music discussion board not a webpage specifically bashing any particular band.

Okay, sorry for being a prat. Just felt like being a cocky bugger at this time in the morning and it's just so easy.

dog latin, Saturday, 18 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dearest Dog Latin: 'never had a girlfriend have you?'

Stephen Booth, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no one in a garage posse EVER had a girlfriend

mark "s is for sarcastic" s, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What about girlfriends with ironic backpacks?

DG, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nah, my girlfriend doesn't have a mobile phone which might xplane my por txt msging sklls.

dog latin, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

this is a music discussion board not a webpage specifically bashing any particular band

Actually dog latin, I think you'll find this is a webpage specifically bashing One Hundred Reasons. BTW is anyone keeping count.

Billy Dods, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what were we keeping count of again? The number of aliases used today?

Mr Noodles, Sunday, 19 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Christ...it's like The Pixies never happened.

digitonal, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have previously heard nothing of this Hundred Reasons but the preponderance of pro-Hundred Reasons arguments revolving around the meaningless truism of Limp Bizkit sucking make me very, very afraid: this argument is only slightly more compelling than "at least they don't smell bad."

nasibco%%, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Id like to congratulate the maker of this site on succesfully making an ass of himself and everyone agreeing with his arguement. It has become apparent(due to the number of pro-reasons statements) that HR Rock. Your site has been sabotaged. ha ha

Stephen booth, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also Hundred Reasons fans seem particularly poor at interpreting the very clever link heirarchy up top clearly demonstrating that THIS IS NOT A SITE but rather AN INDIVIDUAL THREAD ON A DISCUSSION FORUM.

Also Hundred Reasons fans in particular evidently spend a whole lot of time googling Hundred Reasons: the enraged-googler factor in here puts the Elizabeth Wurtzel thread to shame!

nabisco%%, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Who wants me to make Stephen Booth fetch this ball?

Judd Nelson, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"It has become apparent(due to the number of pro-reasons statements) that HR Rock."

That's some classy logic there.

DG, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay no the Wurtzel fans are funnier.

nabisco%%, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"hundred reasons rule and are so much better than all this american shite lying around like linkin park and nickleback all in all u have no musical taste be cause u cant see a good band when they come up to u and slap u in the face u ignorant twats. HUNDRED REASONS ROCK."

That's like logic in a capsule.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Brilliant: If you just type Hundred Reasons into google, this thread is the top of the third page of links. How high will it get?

Has anyone tried entering Jay z Vs Nas or somesuch into Google and found out whereabouts the link to that particular thread i

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's the bottom of page 2 now!

DG, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Man, this is close to the Left Eye dieing thread but nothing touch Jay Z vs Naz.

Mr Noodles, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Interesting, Jay Z vs Nas entered into google does indeed give you a ILM link at the bottom of the second page, but it's to a 'Taking sides: Jay Z vs Nas' rather than the monster 'Jay Z Vs nas and other throwdowns ' - either 1 or 2 - (can't remember the actual name) lin

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why the hell can't you people get along? I've been a listener of HR for a while now (september last year) so does that make me a bad person? Who cares - personally, i couldnt give two shits what a load of jumped up HR haters think about my musical taste, and regardless of what HR wear, or say, as long as their current sound stays along the same lines, I will always like them.

Call yourselves fans of music. Shame one you.

Unforunatley I believe that Google works along the lines on the amount of links that a page recieves, rather than the amount of instances of a particular phrase. Good effort though, that man.

Why do I have a morbid fascination with this thread? Is it because I missed out on the Blurillaz one?

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 21 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Unforunatley I believe that Google works along the lines on the amount of links that a page recieves

Gentlemen, return to your weblogs and prepare for government.

I was the mass Reasons poster...

Wait, something's turning through my mind. Doesn't Google return the result higher if the term is in bold or underlined?

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 21 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ive never heard Hundred Reasons but theyre clearly shite because when i searched for them on google THIS come up! OH MY GOD!

Chupa-Cabras, Tuesday, 21 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Excellent stuff. Keep up the good work boys and girls.

Larry HR, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Twenty years from now, the post above will be cold, sad comfort to whoever wrote it.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The thing about this forum, the musicians we discuss sometimes turn up. Zaakir from Jurassic 5, one of my favourite bands ever, poked his head in at one point. Either Ben and/or Jason had some points to make at one point. And then some muppet from Hundred Reasons turns up. Hmmm.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lets look at the facts: 1. They're young and successful. 2. They're on a huge label. 3. They get to travel the world. 4. They'll soon be rich. 5. They have a rapidly growing fanbase.

So as long as they don't give a shit who cares!?

Wayne Bridgman, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oooh, oooh, I want the thread to be visited by the fat one who looks like a crap alternative comedian circa 1995.

Dom Passantino, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd rather it was the WACKY one with his WACKY hair.

CarsmileSteve, Saturday, 25 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If only Melody Maker was still being published. They'd have HR on ever single page. Well, every page that didn't have King Adora on, obviously.

Dom Passantino, Saturday, 25 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

king adora! hooray!

electric sound of jim, Saturday, 25 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone put Hundred Reasons through Photoshop, go on.

DG, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You know that feeling when you have a song in your head, possibly one you've been hearing everwhere and you know you like it, unashamedly, but have no idea what it is or who it's by?

I had one of those last week. It turned out to be the new Hundred Reasons single. Oh dear...

Matt DC, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I could use a fat ironic backpack right now, mine is sorta broken.

Mr Noodles, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They'll soon be rich

I love how people always assume rock bands make money.

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love how people always assume rock bands make money.

Well, some of them do, but that's called counterfeiting and it isn't exlcusive to rock bands.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love how people always assume rock bands make money.
Well the world always needs waiters and cooks, and as long as their arent too many actors, rock bands will always make money.

Mr Noodles, Wednesday, 29 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Aren't you bored yet? It's been weeks since I last had a look at this thread. I'm glad we've created some sort of reaction. You all obviously care.

Good luck.

Larry.

Larry HR, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The thread's over here, you're talking into a mirror.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's your fans who keep revising this thread Larry. Which is dumb, as they really should be revising for their 11 Plus. Anyway, here's a picture:

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

four weeks pass...
Hey hey hey! I've got an idea! Get a life!

Seriously though, don't you think making HILARIOUS mock up piccies of HR is a bit of a waste of time, you've got you'r 11+'s to revise for.

Ash, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

cus there better musicians then me with a shit hot album . Bastards!!!

boyno, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

U people r so sad if u hav nothing better 2 do than try and find reasons y HR r shite. I'm not going to defend HR because they don't need me sticking up for them - they're music says it all. If u actually took the time to listen to it u would c for yrself the true talent those five guys hav.HUNDRED REASONS ROCK! So there.

KT, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

''Hey hey hey! I've got an idea! Get a life!''

But this is really good fun! HR are one of the worst bands evah. No wonder S club 7 sells millions of recs.

And ASH (the band) are just as bad (nothing saying you're an ash fan). Started off as comedy punk rock then they stopped faking their anger to become a really bad guitar pop band. You guys don't need to get a life, you need to start buying records.

Julio Desouza, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Just don't start knocking ash, ok? Slagging off one of the best uk rock bands (hundred Reasons) is one thing, but ash are also fantastic- in fact i would say that the top 3 uk rock bands are in this order. Agree? i dont care. 1. MUSE 2.HUNDRED REASONS 3. ASH. Now, i know you clever clever people will be able to think of very bad things to say about all of these bands, but i have one thing to say to you. : You Are Stupid. Most of you listen to Stickleback with the oh so pretty chad kruger (or sumthing) or S club 7. Which, incidently, there is nothing wrong with if you like that kind of thing.this is only my humble opinion of the top 3 bands in Britain, but EVER! yes, EVER!!!!!! Thankyou.

Kate Roper, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate's entire post is a work of genius, and has rendered the rest Of ILM void.

Right, I'm off to listen to Stickleback...

chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, we'll give her a prize (who are stickleback): some tickets to an iggy pop concert (make sure she's at the front so maybe this time he'll piss on her).

18 reasons why 18 Wheeler were shite. Should only take about half an hour.

o.k. ...

i got back from the uk last week, and on my trip i was exposed to hundred reasons for the first time (the 'falter' video plays ceaselessly on the kerrang! channel). immediately i was drawn to the very pretty guitar intro. you can be a prick about it or you can admit that's it's a beautiful riff (because it is). i heard it and came in from the kitchen to watch the whole video, intently. some thoughts:

1) the singer is impassioned. his lyrics (when intelligible) are very good and very honest. i like the sound of his voice too. this is a definite cut above say ... the shitty pop/punk or pubescent mullet rock (puddle of mudd, nickleback, whatever else)

2) the singer is ugly and has weird hair. i think this is hundred reasons' greatest asset.

upon my return i downloaded their full-length and burned it. my brother and i sat listening to it. he remarked "i probably would have gone nuts over this if i was fifteen". so would've i.

i guess that's why i like it. for a few minutes i can pretend i'm sixteen without having to insult my intelligence/age to do it. if pretentious critics can defend britney et all on the grounds of them being "fun" and "pure pop", why not defend hundred reasons for the same reason but in a rock milieu? their music has something that approaches depth, youthful though it may be.

Phew, I was on a bit of a downer today, hungover, at work etc. Reading this has perked me up no end. If I feel down now I just prase the lord I'm not a fucking yank. Hundred Reasons, Nottingham, 6/11/02 (yes, the day is the first bit you yankshite).

Ouch, a long break and the 'argument' takes a xenophobic twist.

Well to tie the last two messages together "pretentious" is vanity, ostentatiousness - Something you'd have a complete lack of being one of those fat immigrants that have spread their dirty shite all over North America. Did you start off as convicts or gay priests, I get confused with you and Oz. Either way you're not here.

Oh, I nearly forgot, Hundred Reasons are good; SHIT I'm 23.

three years pass...
Kind of shame that "Mark my words its gonna be subtley iconoclastic, oh yeah baby!" never caught on like "some of the greatest bands ever are bland"; I think that one had some real potential

u are all sad wankers, get a job or a life would be better

-- piss (lucypiss...), July 27th, 2002.

But surely a job is better than just a life isn't it?

so swivel on that any American droopy biscuit fans

It's just a shame that only because of the sheer massive monolith of the Dave Matthews thread, threads like this one will ultimately fall by the wayside. It's like the Godzilla of ILX vs. a salamander.

The absence of angry Googlers since 2002 is kinda sad, really.

breathny spears let me see the sex that you did. (noodle vague), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 06:32 (nineteen years ago)

My girlfriend processed the drummer from Hundred Reasons' car insurance form once. I hope he doesn't turn up on this thread and get her into trouble for breach of confidentiality.

Does a myspace page count as "still going"?
