syke i hate this fuckin song

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

i yearn for the days when clubs overplayed real hiphop like walk it out or laffy taffy

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I'm kind of past being bothered by rappers mocking "totally dude" white guy voices, but I never listened to the 3rd verse of "Jigga That Nigga" and thought wow, I'd like to hear a whole song of that.

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

gnarly dood, puff bob marley doood, all day like rastafaris dooo

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

This song is hella stoopid. I keep seeing it credited to Freak Nasty. What's up with that?

The Reverend, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

freak nasty did a song called party like a rockstar too

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)

Recently? (I would assume not.)

The Reverend, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

terrible song this

deej, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

worst song i've heard in ages

will, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

I know a local cat named Young Dip who has a song called "death to the wallet chain" kinda half-jokingly calling for a stop to the whole weird rockstar chic thing going on in rap right now, it's hilarious and OTM.

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

Ahhhh this song is in my head now

Jordan, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)

btw i dunno bout yalls cities but this song gets a HUGE response here equalled only by andre's verse on the walk it out rmx

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

maybe this is outside the scope of this thread but andres' verse/preamble on intl players anthem is kind of weirdo :/

The Macallan 18 Year, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

yeah im not feelin 2007 'hay guyz i like rap again' andre

and what, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

who was that white rapper dude that was with the neptunes for awhile...like harley something?

M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

nah this song is pretty unavoidable here now too (although just in the past couple weeks) and southern records always take a while to reach here. although i'm still at that point where i have to think for a minute to even remember the name of the group. (xp)

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 May 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)

i need to hear this.

will, Friday, 11 May 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

andre should focus on making actually good weirdo soul music instead of sucking at 2 genres at once

scott seward, Friday, 11 May 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

I saw some of Andre's kiddie cartoon at the gym and the music was way better weirdo-soul than most of the stuff on his record.

Jordan, Friday, 11 May 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

WHY DONT YOU JUST POST PIX OF YOUR ROCK HARD ABS ABOUT IT, JORDAN

The Macallan 18 Year, Friday, 11 May 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

scott's right. i blame the resurgance of turtle chic.

i always heard it as thrash. but then, when i googled the lyrics earlier, some site told me it was "crackheads" instead of crackers, go figure.

lol yeah i cant take much more of this song. at first i loved the whole mock-rock thing takin over it felt so validating as a corny white dude even though i am probably mostly being made fun of, but after hearing that track that is basically just an unedited KISS song i am ready to go back to real rap :[

Classic material on this thread, but I bumped it to point out that "Rock Star" by Prima J was the shittiest single of 2007, beating off strong competition from Calvin Harris, Justice, and Lethal B.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 16 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, was the "rock star" trend the American version of grindie?

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 16 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

I think they were born of different instincts. Grindie was a crossover, whereas rockstar-rap made no attempt to appeal to Van Halen fans or whatever.

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 June 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)

ringtone one-hitters don't make it to the 'celebreality' circuit unless they weasel into one of the Ego Trip shows like Khia.

some dude, Monday, 16 June 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

ehhhh i mean ringtone one-hitters are gonna end up being the one-hitters of our gen though? and vh1 is always fishing for ppl who aren't even famous enough to be on the 7th season of surreal life. like one of these dudes couldn't show up on celebrity fit club?

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 June 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

and what, Monday, 16 June 2008 18:07 (seventeen years ago)

most of the rappers that have been on those shows have been like Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, guys that were actually hugely popular at one point. a Shop Boy would be more like an equivalent to one of the guys from Young Black Teenagers or Das EFX. I think you're vastly underestimating the potential for today's rap superstars to be broke and/or desperate for TV airtime in 5-10 years.

some dude, Monday, 16 June 2008 18:09 (seventeen years ago)

i think a cool reality show would be a white rapper-style show where bad amateur rappers from florida try to see who can become the most successful with successive singles featuring hooks from t-pain and akon or ne-yo (take your pick)

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 16 June 2008 18:15 (seventeen years ago)

ego trip FL rapper show would be so dope... i feel like even with all the shine theyre getting there hasnt really been a lyricist to break out... like here's what decatur mixtape cat block life had to say when i interviewed dude for basic mag & asked him if he felt atl was taking a back seat to florida rap in 08--

"I don't give a f*** about any of that. Rap is always gonna be rap, don't let nobody tell you otherwise. This Miami s*** is cool with me, but in the end Georgia's gonna shine. All they know is booty s***. I don't mind that - I got respect for booty s*** - but you can't just jam to that. Where is the Outkast of Miami? Where is the T.I. in Florida? When are you gonna find the UGKs and Geto Boys down there? It's been damn near 30 years. I respect how they did it with the party music and s***. But you got to admit theres something funny about a state that can't do it no other way."

and what, Monday, 16 June 2008 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

that said "maybach music" is in my top 5 singles of the year i aint bullshittin

that guy is kind of otm, trick excepted i think

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 June 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

i mean you could argue that trick is the FL version to t.i.-- obv he doesn't have the pop success or a single like "motivation" but more or less their singles are good party/club jams with albums that go a little deeper

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 June 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)

J0rdan S., Monday, 16 June 2008 18:54 (seventeen years ago)
