To name a few: Ramones, Bobby Bland, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, Run-D.M.C.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 2 June 2007 00:57 (eighteen years ago)

The Feelies (worth it), Sonic Youth (not worth it), Fishbone (worth it), Small Factory (mixed feelings), Versus (ditto), Magnetic Fields (not really worth it), Love Child (doesn't really count 'cause it was at Vassar), Kronos Quartet (pretty much worth it). Surprisingly few repeats, now that I think of it.

Top 3 for me (favorite moments):

1. the Flaming Lips (in 1994-1995 with Roland Jones, twice at tiny shank hall where the guitar interplay between Coyne and Jones made manifest the interconnection of all things)

2. Pavement (in 1994, during “Range Life,” when about 2,000 of us shouted along, "Don't worry, we're in no hurry!")

3. Beck (I gues '94 was my year. It was a $7 show, and packed to the gills. He would play 3 or 4 songs acoustic, solo, then 3 or 4 electric, with a band. The crowd was body surfing during the acoustic numbers. Electric, it was up for grabs! People were jumping onto the speakers from the balcony. Then onto to the stage, brushing past Beck, and diving into the crowd. Beck stood there unfazed, dilivering his insane heavy insane metal insane glory)

Sonic Youth
Superchunk
Red Hot Chilli Peppers (accidentally at various festivals)

Agreed.

Nick Minichino, Monday, 4 June 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)

This is going to be difficult, cos I don't go to gigs that often, and as such my gig-memory is underdeveloped and will probably have big holes in it.

Um...

Embrace (way more than three)
Muse (probably three, mostly at school)
Patrick Wolf (bang on three, I think)

Can't remember anymore. Several people that I've seen twice.

Scik Mouthy, Monday, 4 June 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)

After about half an hour of scratching my head and checking the web for various Reading and Glastonbury festival line-ups, I reached 100+ (not including local bands etc.) before I gave up.

Most of these were the consequence of festival attendances, regular local (Reading) appearances, support-act appearances and just stupid meaningless coincidences (hence e.g. my list would have to include Anti Nowhere League, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sham 69, Senseless Things and U2).

Stewart Osborne, Monday, 4 June 2007 10:13 (eighteen years ago)

Dolly Mixture, Madness, The Beat, The Fall, Paul Weller (2 solo, 2 Style Council), Elvis Costello, The Q-Tips, Morrissey (2 solo, 1 Smiths), Orange Juice, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Marc Almond, Madonna, Prince, Tanya Donnelly (2 Throwing Muses, 1 Belly), PJ Harvey, Faithless, Six By Seven, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Primal Scream, Flaming Lips, REM, Pulp, Super Furry Animals, Goldfrapp, Scissor Sisters, Broadcast, John Martyn, Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

mike t-diva, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, really not that many...

REM
Rasputina

The rest are local club acts I've played with, so they probably don't count.

jergïns, Monday, 4 June 2007 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wait, wait, I get it - "Post acts" in the imperative sense, and not as an adjective like in "post-punk acts". How idiotic to misunderstand that! I'm always at my stupidest on Mondays. (Hopefully.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 4 June 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

Do Make Say Think (3 nights in a row even)

i am interested in figuring out who the violinist Tarfumes saw w/Tony Oxley was

sarahel, Wednesday, 4 January 2012 09:46 (thirteen years ago)

It was Andreas Schreiber. Fred Anderson was supposed to join them for a set, but didn't (not sure why; I don't remember him being there at all). The next night was a trio with Oxley, Schreiber, and pianist Dieter Glawischnig. Anderson was supposed to be on this bill too, but wasn't.
