I literally just moved Underground Kingz up to #2 on my tentative end-of-year list five minutes ago. And yesterday I turned in a blurb on the album for my paper's EOY list. I should probably go ask to rewrite it in light of this.

I didn't follow UGK before Pimp's lockdown, so I was never sure if his strange statements in interviews were just him being him or if they were the product of jail.

I think that was just him being him, the promotion they're referring to was probably extensive touring, more videos, etc.

Huh ? not really.

you sure you heard the right album? the latter point I can see questioning, but I didn't see any of the former at all

as far as the production other than a few 'clubby synthy' tracks, a lot of it was some of that Texas soul'n'funk that he liked.

the drake track, "since the 90's", "midnight", "hit the parkig lot", "colors" & even "massacre" are not really close to pimp's production style. That's half of the songs.

they're not note perfect but they're not that off in left field, some of them sound like what the guest producers did on the Underground Kingz album. they fit his style to me, *shrug*, it's not like the case of Bun B imo
