I like Already Platinum a lot but it definitely feels like a misstep now...Neptunes was just kind of an odd choice and there's no doubt that the album would have been much stronger if he had just kept it Houston/"Southern" sounding...maybe should have put it in though

Yeah, about half that album is great. About half that album is just totally whatever, tho.

Rap albums from '05 I still listen to: Common, Jeezy, 36M. I would have picked Common at the time and I'm not going to second guess myself now.

Pretty much, although I do think he grew as a rapper somewhat on his second, which may be more consistent (yeah, I know), but that one didn't have anything as great as the better tracks on The Documentary.

If you look at my track record, I actually stumped for Blueprint over Edan in 2005. Which I still will! Blueprint's album was dope as fuck!

I still think the Paul Wall album was the best of 05, though. Dude was just the right mix of braggart and weirdo. The song about trolling for ass on MySpace was as real as things got in 2005.

They put out a 12" of "The Food" with both the studio and Chappelle versions in 2004. The studio version is actually the weaker of the two, so they knew what they were doing when they put the Chappelle version on the album.
