Me too, rather predictably.

Haven't listened to that album in ages but I'll say Search that one plus the first four songs on the 3rd album.

funnily enough Amazon reports about 5 albums since then ! where on earth did they come from ? 'bed' is meant to be a classic, a la 'become...' but i see there's also one called 'juliana's pony' which was written in 1 week, and one called 'beautiful creature' which indeed she is/was. oddly she popped up as a waiflike singer-with- accoustic-guitar on My So-Called Life a good half decade back now.

anyone heard 'bed' then ? the follow-up to 'become' was pitiful if memory serves, so yeah destroy that.

I love BECOME WHAT YOU ARE LP. Blake Babies' GOD SAVE THE BLAKE BABIES or whatever it's called is surprisingly good too.

She is quite tasty but also talented.

Anyway, the only record of hers I've really liked was a BBC radio session acoustic version of 'My Darling'.

Just played Hey Babe after maybe 8 years. And, after some heavy duty brain-adjustment during the first song to *that* indie- guitar sound, I was surprised to learn it's still very good. Lovely melodies, clever lyrics. Time to hit the second hand cd-shops.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the cover of the I See You (E)P.

I think I only like the Hatfield tracks no one else does - "Breeders," "Let's Get Married," "Swan Song," "I Want To Want You."

The good stuff of Beautiful Creature is SO GOOD. search songs 1-3, 6, and 11. esp.#11,'Hotels'. I always liked Only Everything too, plus the first too.

The Blake Babies reunion was maybe 1/3 super, search 1, 4, 5, and 10.

Ah mems. Newcastlte Riverside club. She was too loud (well, the band were, she was way too quiet herself). The last one I got was the 'hairy' one. One of my first purchases from CDNow back in the day. Dawn put her hand in the car glovebox, brushed against the CD and pulled her hand out very quick. "Is that meant to be....?" she asked. "Yeah, Probably" said I.

The new album from last summer isn't that exciting.

The first four tracks on Bed are so great: "Down On Me," "I Want To Want You," "Swan Song," "Sneaking Around."

there were a few tracks on exile that i really liked, but also some i quite disliked. i'll give it a go tomorrow and summarize.

I decided that she has a hot face but the jaw/bone structure is too big or something. Either way she used to pretty hot in some of her videos and I'm looking forward to listening to her latest two offerings: Made In China and How To Walk Away (will be released August 19th).

Saw them (BB) open for Buffalo Tom years ago now. Julianna Hatfiled was a tiny bit easier on the eye than Bill Janovitz

lots of cool stuff about growing up in the US hardcore scene in the early 80's, Fer Ark you should check it out.

I'll probably buy her book, but her writing on her site is pretty something. Not surprising, maybe, and nicely... expansive.

I actually think 'Exile' is one of her best, although I completely understand the dismay at the (over)production. I still listen to it quite often - 'Tourist', 'Sunshine' and 'Jamie' are faves - and have listened to it many more times than 'Made In China'...

I had no idea until a few days ago she was even recording, never mind releasing, an album with Nada Surf's Matthew Caws. The fifteen-year-old in me is feeling a lot of feelings on first impressions.

I forgot how totally cool she was and then I reminded myself by listening to her cover of "Raisans" today -- but I can't remember whether it was her or someone who sounded like her who sang a cover of Yeh Yeh.

Beautiful Creature is excellent and I recall Total System Failure being very good. I've dipped in and out over the years and I don't think she has done much that isn't pretty enjoyable.

So, she lives around the corner from me and last week our dogs made friends and I was standing there like, "hey, nice dog" meanwhile I know the dog's name is Charlie and I've seen her twice. I wasn't going to be obnoxious and say anything but man was that a weird few minutes.

Wow. I've generally been decidedly un-starstruck meeting/running into celebrities but I honestly don't know how I'd react in that situation. There would be some gushing, I'm sure.

How to Walk Away is my favorite of her 21st century solo albums, and the the short-lived band she had with Freda and Heidi Gluck called Some Girls is her best full band project.

Always liked her, but just now wallowing in nostalgia and connecting with my inner '90s indie rocker by listening to the Blake Babies' Sunburn and then Hey Babe, Become What You Are, and Only Everything. What a great run that is. If she had come up in the '60s she would've been a famous Brill Building hitmaker.

1988-1990 was such an interesting period, when the American Underground of the mid-'80s had made its impact and grunge was bubbling up, and everyone was influenced by similar things but taking those influences off in different directions.

I played her newest album Blood the other day, mostly out of goodwill and nostalgia, and even though my personal tastes have shifted from what I was listening to twenty years ago I'm amazed that after nineteen albums she's still writing such strong choruses.
