On two listens I'm really really really liking this album, which I described on another thread as a blowsy, bluesy, Dylaneseque confessional album.

In fact it feels very much like Courtney trying to remake Tangled Up In Blue, crossed with West Coast driving music (the first song is even called "Pacific Coast Highway"). Its mournful guitars are filled in with sad-eyed piano and lugubrious organ, while Courtney's wracked, exhausted vocals try (halfway successfully) to pretend that the last ten years of hard living was all deliberately undertaken just to prepare for these songs. It's like the bruised, defeated flipside to the glittering perfection of "Malibu".

A really cynical person might compare it to Beck's Sea Change and suggest that this stylistic shift is similarly deliberate, but it's hard to think of another artist for whom such a shift seems more appropriate and more earned.

Tim F, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:20 (seventeen years ago)

Wait, what's illegitimate about an artist making a stylistic change for any reason whatsoever? Do they owe us something?

Le présent se dégrade, d'abord en histoire, puis en (Michael White), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

is that supposed to be some Joni Mitchell Blue homage or waht

Wrinkles, I'll See You On the Other Side (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

"Wait, what's illegitimate about an artist making a stylistic change for any reason whatsoever? Do they owe us something?"

No, not at all. I just meant that I'm anticipating a lot of reviews trying to attack Courtney on these grounds, as much because so many people try to attack her for whatever reason they can.

Tim F, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

so wait, what, is this actually coming out this decade?

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

as much because so many people try to attack her for whatever reason they can

She's a pretty easy target. I'll check it out, though.

Le présent se dégrade, d'abord en histoire, puis en (Michael White), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

I heard some bootleg demos for this a while back, they were abysmal - hopefully the finished product is something less dire.

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

I have to assume it's coming out this year.

Tracklist:

1. Pacific Coast Highway
2. For Once In Your Life
3. Letter To God
4. Stand Up Motherfucker
5. Loser Dust
6. Dirty Girls
7. Never Go Hungry Again
8. Nobody's Daughter
9. Happy Ending Story
10. Car Crash
11. Sunset Marquis (Piano Version)

Tim F, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

ok, i'ma go search for it

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

that was FAST. found it right away

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

love the cover photo - it's a perfect representation/distillation of who she actually is, as opposed to the airbrushed-onna-van wish-fullfilment of the America's Sweetheart cover

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:35 (seventeen years ago)

Did anybody know she was Paula Fox's grand-daughter? Weird.

Le présent se dégrade, d'abord en histoire, puis en (Michael White), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:38 (seventeen years ago)

tim, on the version you have, does she sound kinda out of it? the production on the version i found it a lot better than on the demos, but the vocals sound kinda haphazard, unsweetened. which is fine - i just want to be sure that i'm listening to the actual record

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:42 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, that's probably it!

Tim F, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

well, in that case, i'm certainly not gonna encourage interested parties to google her name + the title + "mediafire" before the sucker's taken down or anything - that would be WRONG.

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

which I described on another thread as a blowsy, bluesy, Dylaneseque confessional album.

Blowsy? As in, she was doing lots of blow when it was recorded? Why I'd never have guessed...!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 22 May 2009 18:15 (seventeen years ago)

SO STOKED YOU GUISE!!!

(and a little anxious - I heard the same tracks Beatrix (lol) did and abysmal was the word)

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Friday, 22 May 2009 18:43 (seventeen years ago)

well, lemme warn ya, pardner: it's sort of a slumpy, quiet, seated-on-a-stool w/o being folk album. lush. NOT like america's weetheart. it's the sort of thing that might be a grower.

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

It's not 11 versions of "Doll Parts" is it? If so, bleh.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 22 May 2009 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

so far i'd say it's a lot better than that description. comparison points will come to me soon...

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

i don't really see how one could get excited for this album. i mean, this shit is done better by thousands of other people in the midwest.

have the lime of your life, heyyyyyy (Tape Store), Friday, 22 May 2009 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

but it's COURTNEY, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

i don't really see how one could get excited for this album.

suggest ban

"it's COURTNEY, bitches"

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

ok not the same

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

i like hole, btw

have the lime of your life, heyyyyyy (Tape Store), Friday, 22 May 2009 19:46 (seventeen years ago)

i find myself in the weird position of having to admit that "america's sweetheart" kinda eclipsed all hole stuff for me

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

:(

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

but maybe it's just that i burned myself out on "live through this" when it came out

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

that's a better spin on it

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

plus wasn't impresssed with the 1998 album. man, i'm embarrassed to admit that i can't even remember what the title was and am too lazy to look it up. anyway, too much billy corgan influence on that one - and i'm a BC fan even. "malibu" was a keeper tho

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

look you're entitled to your opinion

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

(personally i like that malibu drink)

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

(even tho it's really sweet)

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

haha

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

i'm just babbling on. and everyone's got a diff opinion about these things

Beatrix Kiddo, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

:)

Surmounter, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

I'm only a recent convert, or at least in the sense that I finally admitted that Live Through This is really good. But Celebrity Skin is garbage for the most part and I still haven't heard America's Sweetheart or Nobody's Daughter.

Interest in hearing this is there, but I'm in no rush.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 22 May 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

is that supposed to be some Joni Mitchell Blue homage or waht

(listening to this right now, only halfway through but it sounds good. "stand up motherfucker" lives up to its name, which is worth something.)

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 02:27 (seventeen years ago)

7 songs in, waiting for a bad one. is the whole record this good?

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 02:39 (seventeen years ago)

wow yeah, the whole record is good. i know this is cobbled together from bits and pieces over a few years, but it hangs together. need to listen more before i can say anything coherent about it, but ... seems kinda great on first go-round. i hope she manages to actually release it.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 03:26 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah that reminded me of Fleetwood Mac's "Beautiful Child" a bit.

Tim F, Saturday, 23 May 2009 03:28 (seventeen years ago)

Wow, this is...not awful.

Who will listen to another Courtney Love "comeback record"?

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Saturday, 23 May 2009 04:39 (seventeen years ago)

okay, so on first spin... this is one of those... whatchacallem... albums... like, an actual sequence of songs that hold together. retro as fuck.

Pacific Coast Highway - harrowing. first verse volta serves notice: shit will be real
For Once In Your Life - she's done the "i know you don't love me but I will be your world" thing before, but the context of utter loss driving it has never been more stark due to PCH setup
Letter To God - dig it, not more to say yet
Stand Up Motherfucker - this is where tracks 1-3 end up, and it's as good as good as LA songs get imo + zings abound

Loser Dust: meh
Dirty Girls: meh

Never Go Hungry Again - omgwtf solo acoustic barnburning dylanesque anthem bitches!!!
Nobody's Daughter - no idea, still coming down from Never Go Hungry...

Happy Ending Story - "Haaaay... I burn better in the dark..." <3
Car Crash - j0hn darn1elle called... plz return "Up The Wolves" riff when yr done... but 'til then this is rockin' and dark as fuck whether real or faux
Sunset Marquis - MUCH better than the early version I heard. apparently this whole "mixing" thing really matters.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Saturday, 23 May 2009 04:49 (seventeen years ago)

with you except i like "loser dust" a lot (like a "live thru this" b-side). it's obvious ok -- O NO DRUGS -- but rocks.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:01 (seventeen years ago)

(fwiw i had this on the computer speakers and "never go hungry again" was the one my wife started unconsciously singing along with from the couch on the other side of the room)

I really want to hear this, but I keep only turning up the demos/bad quality recordings (that were abysmal a month ago). Where are you guys finding a copy?

goddamit i have work to do and i can't stop listening to this.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:36 (seventeen years ago)

I mostly like the harder songs in the middle (and indeed "Stand Up Motherfucker" has some great lines) but I feel that the thrust of the album resides in the glorious moody reflective songs. The crack in her voice as she mutters "So what can I do?" on "For Once In Your Life" = total love 4ever.

Tim F, Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:39 (seventeen years ago)

i do keep going back to the first 2 songs. but i need a week or so to obsess on it to figure out my actual favorites.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:48 (seventeen years ago)

who did the production? is it all linda perry, or a bunch of people? especially songs like "for once in your life" have such a warm live-studio sound.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:50 (seventeen years ago)

linda perry + bunch of people iirc

i know Peter Thorn, who's since gone on to a spot in Chris Cornell's touring band for the past couple of years, played a ton of guitar for this a few years back. no idea if any of his stuff made the final mix. or if this is the final...

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:53 (seventeen years ago)

You guys were right. On my first listen to the first few tracks, this sounds pretty great.

Mordy, Saturday, 23 May 2009 05:56 (seventeen years ago)

This is pretty awesome. Did not expect this from her at this juncture. But I'm glad that we get it. More thoughts to follow.

MTLiens (Alex in Montreal), Saturday, 23 May 2009 06:22 (seventeen years ago)

two of the tracks end v. abruptly. what happens to the end of car crash?

MTLiens (Alex in Montreal), Saturday, 23 May 2009 06:57 (seventeen years ago)

the full "car crash" is here. i don't know if "happy ending story" is supposed to cut off or not, but i kind of like it that way.

would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Saturday, 23 May 2009 07:08 (seventeen years ago)

Is it all as good as Car Crash? If so, maybe Courtney's finally made her "Wolfking of LA."

leavethecapital, Saturday, 23 May 2009 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

this album is pretty great though the version i have sounds...unfinished? maybe just cuz two of the tracks cut off halfway through. 'pacific coast highway' and 'dirty girls' stood out for me on one listen...

went back to america's sweetheart too - holy fuck, 'hold on to me' is a beautiful song. i'd forgotten that, maybe i never realised it at the time.

yeah, when she did that song on letterman -- out of her mind on drugs and crawling on the floor -- it was a knockout.

really want to hear a kiki & herb cover of "letter to god"

elliot easton ellis (get bent), Sunday, 24 May 2009 00:49 (seventeen years ago)

This is great. And I hope she doesn't really screw around with this too much since so much of it is perfect. Her vocals on Car Crash, Pacific Coast Highway, and Sunset Marquis make me go weak at the knees. It may be challopy, but IMO when Courtney's on, and she's defiantly on for most of this, she's a better singer than Kurt.

leavethecapital, Sunday, 24 May 2009 01:23 (seventeen years ago)

It may be challopy, but IMO when Courtney's on, and she's defiantly on for most of this, she's a better singer than Kurt.

Not too challopy, I don't think. Her voice is at least as good as Kurt's. I'm onboard with this album like most everyone here; it's lovely. Not only the Marianne Faithfull cover similarity, but did anyone else notice the vocal similarities esp. near the end of "Happy Ending Story"? Some Stevie Nicks in there, too. When she hits those low notes, I particularly hear it. This album is lovely. Oh, I already said that.

Lostandfound, Sunday, 24 May 2009 01:36 (seventeen years ago)

That Marianne Faithful cover is brilliant.

Courtney choosing to "borrow" it so completely though is rather pathetic. So "me too!" cheap and unimaginative.

I know a lot of people dismiss her out of hand (I'm not a fan, and not really interested but not attempting to do that here) but surely she can mine her own damn backstory for context?

fandango, Sunday, 24 May 2009 08:43 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe I expect too much. Does seem like rock in general is usually more interested in glomming onto someones else's importance (ignoring that that status probably came from breaking your own damn ground) than carving out your own voice nowadays though. :/

fandango, Sunday, 24 May 2009 08:46 (seventeen years ago)

The Odyssey is brilliant.

James choosing to "borrow" it so completely though is rather pathetic. So "me too!" cheap and unimaginative.

my first impression is that the vocals are too prominent, both in terms of the mix and emotion.

Surmounter, Sunday, 24 May 2009 16:53 (seventeen years ago)

This is not the album, at least not the official one. What has leaked is the album she made with Linda Perry, the album she decided to scrap a year ago when she hired Michael Beinhorn to produce it instead. That album now apparently has a release date, accordning to Corky's twitter. We'll see.

JLX, Monday, 25 May 2009 03:59 (seventeen years ago)

some of this is really good, but a couple of my songs seem to end abruptly. the first song is my favorite, but there's three or four other very good songs. "letter to god" is awful but i can forgive

Keepers for the official Michael Beinhorn produced "Nobody's Daughter":
PCH
For Once in Your Life
Car Crash
Happy Ending Story
Never Go Hungry Again

the rest needs to be (and has been, according to Corkscrew) forgotten or seriously re-worked. Actually, the songs above all lack something but I'm not sure what. They sound half-assed and kind of lazy.

JLX, Monday, 25 May 2009 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

xpost:

The initial leak, which was last summer so I don't know why people are talking about this now, had a few songs ('Happy Ending Story' being one of them) which cut off, but full versions of those songs leaked a few weeks later.

Still, this was last summer. 'Samantha' and the full band version of 'Sunset Marquis' are the only songs that were leaked recently. They all come from the same sessions, with the exception of 'Samantha' which was recorded when Courtney felt the album lacked a 'hit'.

There are a number of titles mentioned by Courtney that haven't leaked; 'The Depths of My Despair', 'Good in Bed' and 'Sad but True' to name a few. Plus the number of new songs she claims to have recorded with Beinhorn. No titles have been mentioned.

So, this leak could very well be a different album all together.

linda wrote the song (music and lyrics); i guess corx did the best she could with it.

elliot easton ellis (get bent), Monday, 25 May 2009 23:15 (seventeen years ago)

courtney supposedly tweaked the lyrics to suit her. but yes, it mostly sounds like a big linda perry number. about which i'll say, i like big linda perry numbers a lot better when they're not actually performed by linda perry.

she was fucking amazing tonight. i did not expect c-love '10 to be able to stand up straight - honestly when she did this for the whole first song i was surprised - let alone be as tight, focused and fierce as she was. this is bullshit - she's lauded and loved for being a ridiculously talented artist by pretty much everyone i know who's into her - but the minute anyone brings what's appealing about her persona into the equation, the artistic, substantial justification seem to get ignored while people shout YOU ONLY LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE'S A CELEBRITY, which...is not the case at all

Turangalila, Friday, 5 March 2010 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

I just revisited Celebrity Skin and have the same opinion of it as I did at age 12: It's a great pop-rock record. It achieves this by the grace and force of Melissa Auf der Maur's backing vocals and the songwriting of Billy Corgan circa-1997. I discredit myself when I say things like that and mean them.

Brad Nelson (BradNelson), Friday, 5 March 2010 00:34 (sixteen years ago)

I'm not convinced that attacks on female artists here are more mean-spirited and bile-filled than attacks on male artists, but short of doing some kind of statistical study I'm neither qualified nor inclined to do, that has to remain an unsupported subjective impression. Though people might want to reacquaint themselves with the DMB hate-fest thread. (Mind, I'm not denying that misogny and sexism exist!)

_Rudipherous_, Friday, 5 March 2010 00:47 (sixteen years ago)

I think its more a testament to Courtney Love and her career that you pretty much CAN'T discuss her without accusations/claims of sexism being thrown around at some point. its part and parcel of her public persona, its part of why people like her AND why people hate her, and it informs her work at almost every level (cf. my favorite Hole song "Good Sister/Bad Sister")

idk whether it's directly to do with their being female, but courtney love and taylor swift do receive some of the more annoying, obtuse criticism i see - people seem to come into their threads with the attitude that it's self-evident that they're not artists to be taken seriously, and that this is so duhh-obvious that everyone should agree. rather than engage with what anyone's actually saying they persist in, as tim, says, this spectacularly irritating faux-astonishment that anyone could appreciate them at all. and on the taylor swift thread, literally accusing everyone of pretending to like her to the extent they do!

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 5 March 2010 11:45 (sixteen years ago)

Wet Hot American Oil Spill (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 5 March 2010 16:20 (sixteen years ago)

Courtney Love took to Facebook yesterday (March 16) to issue an apology to the Smashing Pumpkins' frontman Billy Corgan, who recently berated his apparently ex-friend in a Rolling Stone interview.

Back story: Corgan and Love have had a tempestuous relationship ever since both dominated the alt rock headlines in the mid-90s. The pair recently recorded song for Love's forthcoming album, "Nobody's Daughter." Due in April, it is the first she's released as using the Hole band name since 1998's "Celebrity Skin," an album on which Corgan co-wrote several tracks.

However, Corgan disowned the new Hole material he worked on in the interview, saying that if Love released the songs, "it would be a real big problem, because I haven't given my permission. I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can't throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that." Ouch!

Rather than lashing back with her usual fury, Love decided to be the bigger person and took to her Facebook page to address Corgan's rant. The post reads:

"Dearest Billy:

I love you, I love your strong and eternal heart, even love the f***ed up gnarly amazing magnificent bigger-than-god louder-than-love karma of the songs you write and allow me to fly with. We have again created beauty from the agony between us, all the buried and unburied anguish, all that is true, that is gold, that is meant to be is within this endless and somehow eternal cycle of Billy & Courtney. I hope you will take my sincerest apologies for all the thousand ways I sometimes offend you, because I know you are a king, a prince, and my beautiful noble boy. No one will ever force my hand, nothing will come between the truth of what we are:

Eternal lovers

Eternal fighters
Eternal warriors.

Let the forces and the shock and awe loose from its cages, all credit where it is due. I love and you and can never thank you enough.Your soul (and you know this).

Xxx CLC"

another "new" song, quite different from the 2007 leak:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLyYdjX9oS0&feature=player_embedded

some of it is for the better, some for the worse. fleetwood mac vibes towards the end but her vocals sound pretty bad, and the overall production sounds odd.

plus: the intro is a total rip-off of the real hole's boys on the radio.

Never either away about her, so am 10 months late and just now hearing the demos (all on YouTube). Could be a Tonight's The Night in there, going between solo piano and "Stand Up Motherfucker." But the new versions just look like bad Photoshop photos in comparison.

But that cover, having the headless woman so the body is front and center plus having it be Marie Antoinette: that works.

and if that's the final version of "pacific coast highway" linked above, the demo is lots better.

ah well. it's courtney, qu'est-ce qu'on peut faire?

women are a bunch of dudes (tipsy mothra), Monday, 19 April 2010 19:35 (sixteen years ago)

I'm gonna listen to it, but I don't understand from the individual tracks I've heard why she'd remove so much of the charm and feeling from the original demo leaks for this other thing that isn't half as good.

Mordy, Monday, 19 April 2010 19:40 (sixteen years ago)

Very top heavy album, I don't really understand why they chose to end it they way they did - or why they chose to omit Car Crash and Happy Ending Story, both were among the best among the original demos.

Letter to God is awful, so is Loser Dust.

I adore Honey, though.

could have been worse but... I dunno I get the feeling someone lost their nerve wrt a nonRAWK courtney record and it's too bad. i mean they're the same songs except for the ones that aren't, just with extra guitars and stuff.

I've never heard of an artist writing a beautiful album and then rerecording it to turn in a far inferior album. This is just terrible. I hope the real album gets a release one day.

the released version of fiona apple's extraordinary version wasn't anywhere near as good as the jon brion demos, and i'm sure r&b fans will all be familiar with the fiasco that was ciara's fantasy ride (though only a few of the faults here were to do with re-recording as such) (well, apart from choosing the version of "work" with missy's TERRIBLE verse)

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 16:22 (sixteen years ago)

OK this would be a better album:

1. Nobody's Daughter
2. Pacific Coast Highway
3. Honey
4. Samantha
5. For Once In Your Life
6. Someone Else's Bed
7. How Dirty Girls Get Clean*
8. Never Go Hungry
9. Car Crash*
10. Sunset Marquis*
11. Nobody's Daughter* (renamed obviously)
12. Happy Ending Story*

*from the original album.

Courtney Love claims she slept with Gavin Rossdale even though he was already with Gwen Stefani, US Magazine reports. Love revealed the details of her affair with Rossdale on the Howard Stern Show on Monday.

Gwen Stefani had to share her husband-to-be with Courtney Love at the beginning of her relationship - because the Hole star was dating the Brit.

Love reveals she was so smitten with former Bush star Gavin Rossdale that she considered marrying him.

Love told radio host Howard Stern that Stefani knew all about her romance with Rossdale - and snagged him when her love rival ended the affair over criticism her boy toy was a clone of her late husband Kurt Cobain.

Love says, "I had this vision of marrying Gavin Rossdale one time. (We dated for) eight months... and we were like, 'Let's go spend our rock star money!' We had a really good time... He was lovely... We did like each other quite a bit.

"But the thing is that everyone gave me so much s**t because Gavin sounded like a lot like Kurt... but, man, he (Rossdale) was such an Adonis in his day."

And Love credits her one-time love rival, Stefani, with turning the rock star into a bedroom hunk.

She adds, "He got good in bed... something happened. Maybe Gwen taught him."

Love also told Stern in the candid radio chat that she once bedded a supermodel, but insisted the mystery lady wasn't Naomi Campbell, Janice Dickinson or Gisele Bundchen.

She reveals, "She's (model) notoriously pretty much gay, and that's because every girlfriend I have in London has had sex with her. And so, in the '90s... I was in an Italian city with her and she chased me around the room... She was the aggressor.

"I thought, 'You know what? If you're going to do it, do it with that one...'"

Asked to name names, Love would only say, "It wasn't Naomi Campbell... This is, like, a hot supermodel... Janice Dickinson had her day for like a month and she was the supermodel for that month... older than Gisele... but perennial."
