RIP Mark
I believe it was Bimble whom told me that he was looking for a good glam rock compilation (outside of the one I mentioned Starbucks selling at my local Kroger). I would like you all to help me make this mix for him - wherever he may be now, rest his soul.

29. Kate Bush -- All The Love.
m@rk once asked me what the lyrics to this song meant. i told him it was about friends who you always want to reach out to, but then life gets in the way and it becomes too late.
the lyrics:The first time I diedWas in the arms of good friends of mine. They kiss me with tears. They hadn't been near me for years. Say, why do it now When I won't be around, I'm going out?
"We needed you To love us too. We wait for your move."
Only tragedy allows the release Of love and grief never normally seen. I didn't want to let them see me weep, I didn't want to let them see me weak, But I know I have shown That I stand at the gates alone.
"I needed you To love me too. I wait for your move."
All the love, all the love, All the love we should have given.

pushing the definition of glam rock, my last suggestion for our bimble compilation is 43. Wreckless Eric - "I Wish It Would Rain"
Maybe someone more familiar with VU, Lou Reed, and/or John Cale can find something for Bimble
And also maybe there's a good Adam Ant bonus track, demo or b-side out there. There was one I loved at one time but I forgot what it's called. (a lot of Adam Ant just sounds annoying after a while but this song was really good)
I'm also going to listen to all these songs back-2-back later. Maybe I'll upload them all as one or two DJ sets.
― CaptainLorax, Thursday, 6 August 2009 22:05 (fifteen years ago) link
so what VU related song/s did Bimble say he loves the most?
― CaptainLorax, Friday, 7 August 2009 04:35 (fifteen years ago) link
Right now I'm trying to restrict myself to playing the Cale song "Where There's A Will There's A Way" over and over on repeat as many times as I can stand it because this song has BEWITCHED me for the last 2 weeks and I need to get it out of my system in some final way if I can so it will finally LEAVE ME ALONE at last. I declare, it is THE most perfect song Cale has ever done in his life, and I really need to close up shop with it, else it will haunt me every waking hour for the next three weeks at least.
Other than that, I decided that if Eno had ever even ENTERED THE ROOM while Cale & Reed were doing "Trouble With Classicists" for the Songs For Drella album then the entire universe would have exploded and I might have had three orgasms at one time.

On the ACR thread, he said Wild Party was probably his favourite song of theirs ever. Granted, he probably said that at some point about every ACR song. Or every song by every band he loves. But still.
I've just listened to it. Really, dude, it was never one of their best. And right now I fucking wish you were around so we could argue about that.

Vinegar and Artichoke Hearts (Bimble...) wrote this on thread nico vs nico on board I Love Music on Dec 4, 2005
I also really loved the Cale version of "Frozen Warnings" on that documentary, probably more than I've loved anything by Cale, and it's actually very easy to find...if I can just remember how or where. Which I can't right now. I'll have to give it some thought.

I'm downloading tons of songs and even the people who missed the glam rock designation have great songs that would fit on this Mix anyways...
SO PLEASE, ANYONE CONTRIBUTE ANYTHINGI am going to make these songs into one or two dj sets - a requiem of music that either Bimble said he liked or you think he would like. He was looking for a glam rock compilation (of new music he hasn't heard) but from what I've learned over the past couple days is that M@ark has a strong passion for all sorts of music that would mesh well on this mix.

The great thing about Bimble, as well as obviously having solid A+++ taste in post-punk etc, is that he would find truth and beauty and excitement and joy in what seemed to me to be the most incongruous of things, and that to me is the epitome of what I really love about ILM.

i finally found that song:
I wish that we could talk about it,But there, that's the problem. With someone new I could have started,Too late, for beginnings. The little things that made me harassed,Are gone, in a moment.I miss the way we used to argue,Locked, in your basement.
I wake up and the phone is ringing,Surprised, as it's early. And that should be the perfect warning,That something's, a problem. To tell the truth I saw it coming,The way, you were breathing. But nothing can prepare you for it,The voice, on the other, end.
The worst is all the lovely weather,I'm sad, it's not raining. The coffee isn't even bitter,Because, what's the difference? There's all the work that needs to be done,It's late, for revision. There's all the time and all the planning,And songs, to be finished.
And it keeps coming,And it keeps coming,And it keeps coming,Till the day it stops(Repeat x3)And it keeps coming,(Repeat x7)Till the day it stops.
I wish that we could talk about it,But there, that's the problem. With someone new I could have started,Too late, for beginnings. You're smaller than my wife imagined,Surprised, you were human. There shouldn't be this ring of silence,But what, are the options?
When someone great is gone...

(xpost) is it too late to suggest tracks? Because if not I'd like to rep hard for Fox's "S-S-S-Single Bed". It was mentioned by Sandy Blair on the glam thread.

And we don't know what happened after he died? Where he's buried, etc?

i don't think i had ever read that thing drew wrote on pitchfork about him?
...Bimble's departure from the discussion boards and subsequent suicide enforces a painful sense of limitation.
yeah, i realize he got on people's nerves here at times, but i loved him. i love raw people.

i'm glad that other people loved him. i love that quote from him upthread: "crispy ambulancee is my second favorite band". he's in my hall of fame for that if for nothing else.

Was just dozing off to match of the day and came across this.
I didn't even know.
Not that I knew Bimble either- only from the posts I read on here and he seemed like such a lovely warm bloke. I even bookmarked his lovely blog.Stopped me in my pathetic tracks this has, sobered me up Speechless.
Sorry that I'm way too late in paying my respects.
