And yes, there really is four Immortal albums and only one Burzum.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:39 (sixteen years ago)

I want to make this clear: anybody who doesn't vote "Transilvanian Hunger" needs to be listening to Animal Collective instead of black metal.

Fuck them for flanking Darkthrone in Emperor, by the way.

xpost some heads were super into Arcturus around the time of the Sham Mirrors tho! there were a couple of years there where Circus Black Metal was looking like the next thing

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:48 (sixteen years ago)

thankfully cooler heads prevailed obv

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:50 (sixteen years ago)

that's really embarassing to me right now!

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:51 (sixteen years ago)

i mean, i guess this list confirms my suspicion that all those insular one-man 4-track black metal dudes like Xasthur/Leviathan r for hipsters and dilletantes

Gnip Konop (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:51 (sixteen years ago)

almost as embarrassing as my spelling!

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:51 (sixteen years ago)

whiney you probably shouldnt be letting this list confirm anything, tbh

both roxy & whiney otm, oddly

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:53 (sixteen years ago)

btw "for hipsters" doesn't equal "their music sucks," it just means you're ethically obligated to give ppl shit who rep for them

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)

what are we, the anti-nabisco!?

also Drudkh: \m/ though i prefer Estrangement though i suspect this is some kind of challop, perhaps

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)

youre also obligated when you get all "VERY into" and not just "very 'INTO'" a genre to give ppl shit who rep the most obvious things, even when they are the best things. but only brief shit

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:56 (sixteen years ago)

#2 on this list is Sarcofago btw so all you Burzum fanboys need to start crying in yr mead

xpost roxy I can't parse that

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 01:57 (sixteen years ago)

Three Immortal albums and they still miss the best one. Weird.

Alex in SF, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:04 (sixteen years ago)

Rebel Extravaganza over Dark Medieval Times is some seriously moronic bullshit.

Alex in SF, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:05 (sixteen years ago)

What's on the CD on this btw?

Alex in SF, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:06 (sixteen years ago)

aw man its after 3am, dont you think I've done enough typing for the night?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:07 (sixteen years ago)

only one Burzum

Yeah, that's a bit surprising.

Can't argue with any of the top eleven, but Filosofem gets the nod from me.

if i vote for getting blazed in the northern sky instead of trans hunger, do i really HAVE to listen to animal collective? cuz that band fuckin sux imo.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

ian ps i love that dead raven choir album you sold me

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:33 (sixteen years ago)

I voted for A Blaze In A Northern Sky, but I don't really listen to black metal. Or Animal Colorectal.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:34 (sixteen years ago)

roxy! yes! did you notice that its (almost?) all covers of like, uk/us folk artists? like, townes van zandt & richard thompson and shit. such a killer idea. you'd never know from just listening to it tho.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:36 (sixteen years ago)

well yeah i mean thats kind of the whole thing right

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:40 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i guess o_o i didn't notice til like the third or fourth time i listned to the record. also of potential interest is the 3 LP boxed set by dead raven choir entitled "cask strength black metal." which i listened to once or twice and enjoyed but i recall it being kinda spotty.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:43 (sixteen years ago)

the reason i bought it was cause i looked and saw it had those covers on it tbh

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

i will try to find that boxed set!

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 02:56 (sixteen years ago)

blaze over funeral moon? ok if y'all say so, get a strawberry jam hall pass, but I can't see it

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

j0hn in your opinion its trans hunger > funeral moon > blaze?

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:09 (sixteen years ago)

i don't own funeral moon so i am less familiar with it. have mp3s but rarely listen.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:13 (sixteen years ago)

i went through a v brief black metal phase in middle school & then i have gotten back into it recently so i think i have a lot of catching up to do as well.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:14 (sixteen years ago)

i am not gonna pretend i know what i'm talking abt.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:14 (sixteen years ago)

in middle school! i bet it was so cute

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:17 (sixteen years ago)

i looked like that one picture with the dudes from like 1999 or whatever. i liked naglfar & dimu borgir & emperor the best (still love emperor even if u guys think it's lame.)

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:24 (sixteen years ago)

what dudes from 1999!

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:31 (sixteen years ago)

In The Nightside Eclipse is actually getting my vote (anyone who thinks that record is lame is crazy.) First BM record I heard and still my sentimental favorite. But Transilvanian Hunger is better than Blaze (even if I might not have thought so when I first heard 'em) so J0hn is probably right there Animal Collective fans.

Alex in SF, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:38 (sixteen years ago)

Blaze was my introduction to black metal, which is probably why I hold it in such high esteem.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 16 August 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

dude roxy that picture of me & jw & remy & our old buddy phil, from when i was in middle school & looked liked lindsay weir.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 04:37 (sixteen years ago)

oh sheesh, of course

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 04:53 (sixteen years ago)

Can I just OTM Alex in SF up there Re: Dark Medieval Times (and add The Shadowthrone)? Thx.

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 09:08 (sixteen years ago)

Anthems is a'ight. A bit overcooked IMO but solid. The intro track segueing into "Ye Entrancemperium" is just awesome. The rest of the album just doesn't compete with that kickass moment.

if i have a child i will name it satan (latebloomer), Sunday, 16 August 2009 09:21 (sixteen years ago)

I could never vote for an album that has both fadeouts and fadeINs. :-/

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 09:31 (sixteen years ago)

Well I like Transilvanian Hunger the most of the eight albums here I've actually heard... I like Animal Collective too though, gah!

Gavin in Leeds, Sunday, 16 August 2009 11:11 (sixteen years ago)

Also, lol @ "Si Momentum Requires Circumspice."

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 11:11 (sixteen years ago)

Dead Raven Choir rule. I have the 3xLP of Cask Strength Metal and a few other cds as well as vinyl & cd's of Wolfmangler. Smolken rules.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 12:07 (sixteen years ago)

j0hn in your opinion its trans hunger > funeral moon > blaze?

yeah that seems right to me, doesn't mean blaze sucks or anything tho obv

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Sunday, 16 August 2009 13:28 (sixteen years ago)

Transilvanian Hunger is the fourth album by Norwegian black metal band, Darkthrone. It is their first album recorded without Zephyrous, their long time guitarist. Nocturno Culto picked up both guitar and bass duties from this point on in their career. The album was released in 1994. The band however claims that this record is somewhat untypical for Darkthrone, since it is much faster than all other records, and the riffs are much more melodic.

Most think that the name is just a reference to vampires. It is actually a reference to the suicide of Swedish-born black metal vocalist Dead (Per Yngve Ohlin), of Mayhem fame. At the time of his death, Dead was wearing a t-shirt that read 'I ♥ Transylvania'.

Originally, pressings had the phrase Norsk Arisk Black Metal (Norwegian Aryan Black Metal) written in the booklet, but due to the negative response of many distributors around the world, that phrase was erased in later pressings. The album also had controversy for a statement originally intended to be printed on the album: "We would like to state that Transilvanian Hunger stands beyond any criticism. If any man should attempt to criticize this LP, he should be thoroughly patronized for his obviously Jewish behavior."

The album has provoked mixed reactions from black metal fans. Transilvanian Hunger is said to be the band's worst album by some Darkthrone fans due to its production; others, however, consider the guitar riffs and vocals of Nocturno Culto to be the best the band has ever produced and cite the raw production, particularly the muffled sound of the drums, as helping to contribute to the hypnotic quality of the songs, and consider it to be the definitive Darkthrone album, to date (some would even go so far as saying this is one of the best black metal albums recorded, and a milestone in how to make primitive black metal correctly).
Some have speculated that the recording and production process was rushed in order to get the album out as quickly as possible, and fulfill contractual obligations to Peaceville.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 14:01 (sixteen years ago)

Anyone checked out Hat yet?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 16:22 (sixteen years ago)

went with 'nattens madrigal', with burzum, dissection, 'blaze' and 'anthems' in close contention.

always found 'nemesis divina' to be hugely overrated, though 'mother north' is of course an amazing track. never quite took to immortal, and strangely the album that i consider to be their best by miles didn't make the cut here.

Charlie Howard, Sunday, 16 August 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)

Nemesis Divina <<< Shadowthrone <<<<< Dark Medieval Times, but I can't really focus on that cuz all of them are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rebel Extravaganza, WTF

Alex in SF, Sunday, 16 August 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

You read this list of mostly canonical classic bands and albums and then...

<q>13 Watain - Sworn To The Dark</q>

I'm tempted to buy this issue just to read the reasoning.

Siegbran, Sunday, 16 August 2009 18:51 (sixteen years ago)

Not really purist black metal but I voted for Dissection. That record is so eminently listenable.

If some of the mid-era Enslaved was on here, I'd have gone for that (Mardraum, Monumension, Below the Lights). Those are still tops in my book.

Nate Carson, Sunday, 16 August 2009 20:12 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, it's surprising Below the Lights didn't make it.

A. Begrand, Sunday, 16 August 2009 20:15 (sixteen years ago)

It's the typical kind of list you get when you don't define what you want exactly. Hence, we get historical importance and originality and good followers and inexplicable personal favorites and "we can't have their whole discography, let's let the editor choose/graphics man pick the cover with the naked chick" all in one list. :-)

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

Negura Bunget? um, who?

Like black metal itself, it gets distorted as it tries to approach the present moment. Whatever, I voted for Beherit.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

The list, I mean.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

I tried listening to a Negura Bunget album after reading a glowing review (not sure if it was that one?) and it was full of like, tribal drumming and was not very black metal imo.

ian, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

Romanian black metal != Norwegian black metal?

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:34 (sixteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

fucking 12-minute song on that 2007 album of theirs is absolutely stone-cold classic as shit

cockles (country matters), Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

I'd pick N Crugu Bradului over this album, I think. Four very long but never boring tracks.

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:44 (sixteen years ago)

They got the wrong DSO album. Fas - Ite gets onto this poll, I vote for it. Simple as.

cockles (country matters), Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:45 (sixteen years ago)

Nice metal map, roxy! I like randomly browsing stuff like that to laugh at band names - Boiling Remains! :-)

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:48 (sixteen years ago)

btw am i right in assuming Hat will mean Hate in Norwegian?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 August 2009 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

Probably. But I'm hoping it isn't and their gimmick is that they all wear a hat instead of corpsepaint.

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:11 (sixteen years ago)

i hope they all wear one giant hat

Siegbran, Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

Filosofem has a naked chick on the cover?

Siegbran, Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:24 (sixteen years ago)

Dude who did vocals on Gorgoroth's debut was also called Hat fwiw.

yes but mainly by the other guys in Gorgoroth, and when he saw that they'd taken the joke so far as to put it on the album sleeve, he got mad & quit the band

I enjoy both Transilvanian Hunger and Merriweather Post Pavillion OK but am not fanatical about either?

Sundar, Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:34 (sixteen years ago)

Siegbran, on the cover of the first print of Filosofem the skirt of the girl blowing the horn was a yellow sticker that said Peel Slowly To See.

StanM, Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:37 (sixteen years ago)

haha i just read his wikipedia entry imagining that that was true and that the other members of Gorgoroth had registered for wikipedia and made it to further the joke xposts

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:39 (sixteen years ago)

That DSO album is very good but a lot more straight-up BM than Fas - Ite. They really developed something newly infernal on the Kenose EP, and then took it even further on the album. Circumspice is a great record but it isn't the stunning blow to the jaw that is its successor.

cockles (country matters), Sunday, 16 August 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)

LJ just doesnt like straight-up metal

in excelsis ayo (roxymuzak), Monday, 17 August 2009 01:28 (sixteen years ago)

"btw am i right in assuming Hat will mean Hate in Norwegian?"

Actually you're right. Though I learned another synonym for hate/disgust in Norwegian is Avsky, thanks to a review Phil assigned me last year.

Nate Carson, Monday, 17 August 2009 01:28 (sixteen years ago)

This thread is good at providing contrary points of view- I just listened to the "Om" album by Negura Bunget and really liked the first three tracks but felt that it fell off steadily past those- when they're on they're cool but the more clean n melodic parts felt too slick and reminded me of what I don't dig about Nachtmystium. But "Tesarul di Lumini" and "Primul Om" are cool.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Monday, 17 August 2009 01:29 (sixteen years ago)

Tesarual di Lumini? fucking 12-minute song on that 2007 album of theirs is absolutely stone-cold classic as shit so basically yeah. It's all you really need to hear from the album, altho Pashmina is a big fan of track 4.

cockles (country matters), Monday, 17 August 2009 01:31 (sixteen years ago)

What are those Deathspell Omega and Blut Aus Nord albums like compared to Fas -- Ite... and Mort?

The Work Which Transforms God was my album of the year a few years back. Deathspell is OK but have zero interesting production ideas & at this point it appears they never will - imo if you've heard one you've heard 'em all w/DSO, which isn't necessarily a criticism but they're pretty much the least interesting of the French BM heavy hitters for me

Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Monday, 17 August 2009 02:50 (sixteen years ago)

Fas - Ite is a quantum leap ahead of Circumspice, IMO, but then their style has always been a little upfront, a little deliberate in its manicness. Great theatre, for me.

cockles (country matters), Monday, 17 August 2009 02:54 (sixteen years ago)

What does ILM think of Dark Funeral? People on the internets seem to like them, but they seem like a one-trick pony as far as my listening is concerned--all so fast & undifferentiated, it really dulls the impact imo.

ian, Monday, 17 August 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

I really love "the Secrets of the Dark Arts" album, haven't listened to anything else by them but that one rules.

Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Monday, 17 August 2009 03:12 (sixteen years ago)

i can think of some emissions from this list. 'list' ryming with 'pissed' wich i am to do with a copy of terrorzizer.

Vas Djifrens, Monday, 17 August 2009 06:31 (sixteen years ago)

Roxy have you found anywhere yet that might sell this special issue?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 17 August 2009 12:19 (sixteen years ago)

aQ?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 00:03 (sixteen years ago)

Wow, there are a lot of albums I like on that list. Too many to really make any sense of voting. Picked Bathory out of a sense of history, but I could have happily voted for Emperor, Immortal, Deathspell Omega, Blut aus Nord, Cradle of Filth, Negura Bunget, Rotting Christ, Dimmu Borgir, Enslaved, Satyricon or Thorns. I definitely miss Leviathan and Xasthur, though. And Samael, Gorgoroth and maybe Moonspell.

glenn mcdonald, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 00:42 (sixteen years ago)

If we're talking historical importance, then they've sadly overlooked VON's Satanic Blood/Blood Angel compilation (colossal influence on a lot of the early classics). But then almost everyone overlooks them :-(

StanM, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

i never knew stan was so into black metal

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 13:56 (sixteen years ago)

Neither did I, I've only been retroactively checking everything out since last year or so, so I'm not half as trv as I'd like to be :-(

StanM, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 13:59 (sixteen years ago)

to be truly kvlt you have to be outraged that 1 darkthrone album is above another but you must also state you are glad hipster stuff like wolves in the throne room didn't make it.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 14:03 (sixteen years ago)

I LOL'd when I saw Arcturus in the list, is that OK too? :-)

StanM, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 14:05 (sixteen years ago)

ive not heard Arcturus but roxy made a deal about that being in it

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 20:04 (sixteen years ago)

It's called black metal because it has a couple of big names (hellhammer and garm, e.g.), but there's almost nothing remotely metal about it. Keyboards louder than the guitars, opera singing (yes, that ulver dude can sing, but that doesn't mean he should), string arrangements, atrociously annoying bombastic over the top stadium prog rock wannabe classical musicians stuff. If you think Nightwish is too rough, check out Arcturus.

I'm only exaggerating a little bit, btw.

StanM, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

Sounds like Jeff's kinda thing!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:33 (sixteen years ago)

the first arcturus album is the most black metal. the album in this poll less so. masquerade also had the dude who used to be in borknagar on vocals. sham mirrors album is full-on circus prog metal. the last album i could barely listen to.

the early EP stuff is also more doom/death kinda stuff.

scott seward, Wednesday, 19 August 2009 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

VON's Satanic Blood/Blood Angel compilation (colossal influence on a lot of the early classics)

just out of curiosity, does anyone but varg claim them as an influence? i don't even know that their material circulated widely enough at the time to be influential, at least i was tape trading with dudes who would've loved it and it never came up on anyone's list.

scott seward, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:10 (sixteen years ago)

i just bought the Back on Black LP reissue of Filosofem because of this thread. If I get too creeped out by Varg/feel like a traitor to jewry, i am going to be sad.

ian, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

btw drunk.
dissuade me from getting the dimmu borgir reissue this week too.

ian, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

waiting for the first Malkuth LP in the mail.. i got an e-mail saying it shipped last week! WHERE IZ METAL?

ian, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

i like the burzum albums a lot. but then i hate jews so i've got no problem with that guy.

scott seward, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:51 (sixteen years ago)

sike! i only find jews mildly annoying!

scott seward, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:52 (sixteen years ago)

ian, Thursday, 20 August 2009 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

love you. if it weren't for the coloreds and the jews i would have left this godforsaken country a loooooooooooong time ago. what do you have left? boiled potatoes and lutefisk? i'll pass.

scott seward, Thursday, 20 August 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

I voted Burzum for the lolz. (Also cause secretly I like the album.)

Mordy, Thursday, 20 August 2009 04:01 (sixteen years ago)

you know what? i have no idea what will win this

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 20 August 2009 18:01 (sixteen years ago)

Me neither, but I'd wager it's one of the top ten.

Alex in SF, Thursday, 20 August 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

burzum music is one of my favorite things on the planet that exists, like up there with the color blue and egg rolls and stuff, but even i didnt vote for filosofem

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 23 August 2009 12:14 (sixteen years ago)

What the US cover price on this? I was thinking I'd wait to find it in a shop, but I'm not seeing it and I'm thinking it's probably worth it to just buy online at this point.

Alex in SF, Sunday, 23 August 2009 14:58 (sixteen years ago)

it will be very expensive as it was £5.99 here

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 23 August 2009 15:14 (sixteen years ago)

I'm going to have to choose how I interpret the question :-/

Best album overall (Watain, Dissection - I wouldn't instinctively consider twin guitar lines and growls + clean vocals as being part of the archetypical BM sound)
Best black metal album (don't know yet, thinking along the lines of "Bathory is important for BM, but it's not BM yet" and "it should be a Norwegian album") (T.Hunger is indeed a major candidate here)
Most important black metal album mythically/historically (Dom, obv)
My favourite album from this list (Drudkh, maybe, but that's almost postrock, or Beherit, but that also contains elements from a lot of other metalz)

But nevermind - I may have already voted for B*rz*m before I took the question seriously anyway.

StanM, Sunday, 23 August 2009 15:57 (sixteen years ago)

i came in to work today to find the following LPs sitting on my desk waiting for me:
burzum - aske
burzum - det som engang var
gorgoroth - under the sign of hell
gorgoroth - antichrist

ian, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 17:20 (sixteen years ago)

not the $999 LP i assume?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 17:30 (sixteen years ago)

the emperor and dissection albums on this list are two of my favorite, um, let's say 20, metal albums ever. i mean, they are at the tip top for me, metal-wise. but i'd still probably vote for darkthrone. just cuz. i like a lot of these records though. i haven't heard them all. i don't think i've ever heard the mysticum album. (sometimes i forget too what i've heard via places like last fm. when i was in love with last fm all i played was black metal and i heard a lot of old stuff that way.)

scott seward, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 17:45 (sixteen years ago)

wait til you get Spotify. Theres more metal being added every day

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

ian you are in for a treat. Those are four great albums (although I like later Burzum and Gorgoroth even better.)

nah they're all reissues

Nate Carson, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 01:01 (sixteen years ago)

Sentimental value!

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)

But in all seriousness I doubt it. It's selling for less on discogs.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 01:04 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah I don't believe it. And anyway, I spin it out at my dj gigs all the time so it's constantly depreciating(/appreciated) anyway.

Nate Carson, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 03:26 (sixteen years ago)

StanM, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

it sure wont be the UK

Why do I get the feeling Venom will win this for being the first BM band?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 21:32 (sixteen years ago)

oh, i doubt they'll win. they may be the most-heard band on the list, but pretty sure most people voting are more down with the 2nd wave grimness no?

i will be baffled if venom wins

Surprised Battles in the North and Frost got no votes actually. I like those albums better than the respective Immortal and Enslaved albums that did.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:15 (sixteen years ago)

xp I voted like three times though.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:15 (sixteen years ago)

what happened? i am confused. (sarahel), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:25 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah me too obv. Just that's the best Immortal album on here so I'm kind of surprised that 1) only one person voted for an Immortal album and 2) that wasn't the album they picked.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 23:30 (sixteen years ago)

Only 1 vote for "Pure Holocaust"? That's *very* weird.

Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
Enslaved - Eld
