There's a million ways in which I could have avoided this. A subscription to The Wire. Subscribing to Gorilla vs. Bear's RSS. Checking Pitchfork just a few more times a day.

I failed to take the appropriate steps to inform myself about the Windham Hill revival and now I am facing the consequences of my actions.

In retrospect, I think I wanted to get caught not knowing that Salem had sampled "Oh Holy Night"...it was a cry for help from a man whose life had gone far beyond his control.

I'm not going to make excuses. These events happened solely because of my inability to know that a Windham Hill revival was already underway. The resposibility is mine and mine alone.

I'd like to apologize to tylerw and josh/via/chi, two good posters who unfortunately were caught up in the events that stemmed from my initial statement. I hope that this does not reflect poorly on them in the future.

Right now, I'm going to take some time to focus on my family and my mental health right now. I also need to get back to my Buddhist faith.

I somehow, despite reading the 50 other posts involving Salem on every music blog/site in existence, missed the one mentioning this Windham Hill sample. Which is a shame, as it is leading to serious music fans having to waste their time on the internet bringing folks like me up to speed. I am glad that we, as a community, are able to recognize when we are wrong and try to make amends. Thank you, whoever you are, for continuing to fight the good fight.
