the only songs I think are less than great are Jesse James (more lyrically than anything, it's thundering) and the song that interpolates "99 balloons", but everything else is top n-izz-otch. I think my fav is "No Tears" though, especially these lyrics:

yeah it's an odd release for that reason but it's still pretty good, just about in the same league as his last LP

feel like voting for The World Is Yours or The Last Of A Dying Breed at the moment to kinda go with a less obvious pick

both Emeritus & M.A.D.E. have great stuff on 'em, and yeah The Diary is fantastic but still -- The Fix is the one that reaches me. Track after track such a great complete-picture album. "Look Who's Back," come on. That is the stuff.

the diary is classic, but mr. scarface is back is my personal favorite. it's the most like a Geto Boys record (in terms of subject matter and the beats), which is no bad thing IMHO.

yeah i voted for that...kinda like an extension of grip it! on that other level

yeah, it really fleshes out the Scarface persona (paranoid, suicidal, profane and religious/almost apologetic for this lifestyle) in a way that grip it! and we can't be stopped only did incompletely.

90s scarface is generally better than 00's scarface, but i think fix is the most consistent album. GOAT in any case.

Mr. Scarface Is Back, no question for me

but dude's is hands down one of the most consistent runs of music in the history of hip-hop. Almost all classics.

I finally got Made and even that one's pretty awesome. and yea, Mr. Scarface is back is very different in tone from his later work, which is kind of cool.

Diary still wins for me, though The Fix is really good too.

I think Scarface's voice is at its most powerful on Diary -- whereas on the other albums, including The Fix, he often went for a gruff, more aggressive tone, he delivers so much of this album in a booming, smooth baritone...giving the feel of a veteran of the streets who has seen it all and is telling his stories to the younger street generation. It's almost like sage Scarface.

um no i'm just tired of reading arguments about which nas albums are actually the bad ones

Last of a Dying Breed is sooooooooooo slept on.

yeah totally. obviously there's a high baseline of quality for pretty much all of his albums, but i think conventional wisdom about their relative quality could really stand to be reevaluated. The World Is Yours and The Untouchable are probably my favorites, Last of a Dying Breed totally doesn't deserve to be forgotten like it has, and The Diary kinda leaves me cold.

scarface was on the nightly show the other night and he was ... odd. made a left-field analogy comparing the Baltimore water company and residents who can't pay their bills to hawks/squirrels, then refused to answer the "keep it 100" question. also wore a backpack the entire time.
