I think I've heard all of one record from this list. Didn't even hear the Anima Morte this year.

Lol the 'heaviest' records I listened to this year were Iceage and The Men. I guess they're not metal then, or just not considered any good?

Fucked Up and The Psychic paramount were both nominated, so I think they were both "not metal". I like all four of those records, but don't think I would vote for any of them in a metal poll. Having said that, I nominated Barn Owl so what do I know?

I know it was a joke nomination but I was actually interested in this year's Yes album; if I liked it I probably would've thrown it some points...

fyi, the provisional schedule for the ILM EOY poll is to close voting on the 20th and roll out results from the 23rd. This would mirror the schedule from last year, and is as late as we can do without having most of the countdown happening in February (feel like Feb is rather late for 2011 retrospectives).

I get that the Sandbox situation has messed with scheduling this year, but if you want to get the metal results out before the big poll maybe you could bring your dates forward a bit? Sorry about all this.

I guess we have no choice but to bring it forward a week but I'm not sure that leaves enough time for voting from previous experience.
Plus the mods (well, wmc) hate it when i ask them to change thread titles so you can ask for me!

Last.fm says I mostly listened to the Minutemen in 2011, which is pretty much the same as every year. Right now I'm listening to the Germs for the first time ever. I know.

Come to think of it, I really did dig some of the stuff on Grindcore Karaoke this year. I should have nominated Dead Neanderthals and Cloud Rat, as both bands' releases were killer.

Really torn on the Fucked Up album. I see that its been nominated and I do love it to death, but I don't really think of it as metal.

It's pretty aggressive but has a melodic thing going on too, it reminded me a bit of Entombed.

Voted. I noticed a few of my nominees, Lazarus A.D. and Scar Symmetry weren't listed, but they're near the bottom of my list anyway. It looks like Lemmy's lifelong hatred of the term metal and his insistence that Motörhead is simply rock 'n' roll has finally registered, as they weren't nominated ;) I was tempted to vote for the Graveyard album, but while it's my favorite, I just can't think of it as metal in any way whatsoever. Whereas the likes of Elder and Wo Fat are heavy enough to qualify.

Motorhead were on it, I've probably fucked up uploading the spreadsheet!

I found some pretty good stuff through the spotify link and YouTube vids but over all I haven't been really blown away like I have in the past. I haven't really listed to as much new music this year though. Time and money have both been in short supply.

it isnt. im sure a lot of people still have to send in ballots. So they will maybe have spaces for albums on their ballots (that goes for any albums on the list)

Everytime I try and make a list of what albums I have and what albums I need, I get about 25 entries into it and just close the file. Too much music to digest, even if it's just trying to figure out what I already digested...

These lists here reminded me of a couple albums I'd heard but forgot to consider, like Skeletonwitch and TesseracT. And new ones like Ringworm, Arkham Witch, Cormorant, Leprous and Unkind. Probably none of them would have made my top 50 though anyway.

normally we start if off just after midnight but the 2 ballots we received this evening havn't been added to needle yet as there's a problem with needle. And glenn says noone may be able to do anything til tuesday as monday is a US holiday.

so basically everything is conspiring against us.
