whereas "partition", as well as being a club banger, is so much more fraught - it makes sense that within album context it's made clear that it's pure fantasy, a scenario that only exists in bey's head

I like "Days Are Gone" well enough, but it is far from my favorite off that album

'Days Are Gone' is the track that comes into my head when I think of Haim. I like the way the chorus kind of rises 'Days are gone, days are gone ahhhh/Days are gone, days are gone, ahhh' and then degenerates into this round of messy glottal sounds that sounds like they're singing 'Oh-my-god-and-oh-my-god-and-oh-my-god" etc...

this burial ep was literally the first thing by him that i've ever properly liked. it's a heartwarming christmas coming out story! by burial! of all things. surprised people voted for individual trax though.

The only thing that annoys me about this Burial release are the clips that sound like they were taken from an amateur debut film about Hard Lyfe on da streetz of London, all stageschool mockney accents etc. Reminds me of Skins or something.

The album is all about tiny moments that surface for brief moments before being sacked back down. In the case of Raging Lung it's when they sing 'poverty is profitable'

I can't do the whole Knife album, but this track is great.

I should have voted for this knife track, it's lovely. I've not really listened to the album since it came out

the most entertaining thing about the knife's album was reading reviews in which the authors saw their inability to enjoy it as a personal failure

Jammed out to "Raging Lung" on the ride to work this morning.

i cooled on the album after a while b/c "fracking fluid injection" and drones and whatever but then i saw their show in october and discovered the magic of it all over again

it's an album that's much easier to admire than truly love, but the highs are very high. "without you my life would be boring" would be my track pick

as a casual knife fan i couldn't get in to this album at all, its a massive turd

That Factory Floor track is stunning and also maybe one of the best live acts I've ever seen. I don't know if there's ever been such a gap between how I thought the band would be live (okay enough I guess) and how good they actually were (unbelievable, got everyone in the whole room dancing like maniacs in a venue where people don't often dance to the live acts, excellent balance of live drums with backing tracks and keyboards, also they played longer than the length of their only album and there was some great jammy noodling and stuff but it never felt tiresome)

But yeah, it's maybe a bit better suited for hearing out than it is hearing on the bus through yr headphones

"Merry Go Round" missed my ballot by just a few spots last year, i was happy to vote for just the album this year. it's funny how "Merry" placed high in the 2012 P&J, showing how much ILM was behind the critical wave on Musgraves.

Some good stuff on the Savages album, but there is definitely this sense that a bunch of the tracks don't quite hit their mark. They seem like a band that have a great album in them, but they need to tighten up their songwriting to get there.

i'm pretty annoyed at Future just letting the whole industry low key shade him by using him for hooks on every single but not giving him a verse, but i have no idea what a Future verse on "Bugatti" would even sound like, Ace Hood is a good fit. Ross sounds like he never heard the rest of the song or had any idea it would be a hit and just lets his verse peter out until there's no energy left in him, though.

Beautiful song. Didn't vote for it as I'm sure I did last year? Much prefer the Quadron album as a whole but this is the best song on either of them.

album winner will likely be one of kanye, haim, beyoncé, or daft punk, with vampire weekend as an outside chance. would think that sky ferreira, kacey musgraves and chance the rapper would probably also all have a shot at the top 5-10.

paramore & 1975 were also pretty popular but they may have just been vocal minorities, i'm not sure.

I have a feeling Get Lucky might not be the obvious number one people think it's going to be. I thought it was the best thing ever when it came out but after hearing it a million times I didn't even consider voting for it. I'm sure that's happened for others too. Not sure what else might do it though. Maybe Mariah/Miguel? Do people love Bipp that much on here?

That thread was full of adoration before the album actually came out. So many people were incredibly disappointed with that album.

every factory floor song is pretty much the same but "fall back" is the perfection of the formula. i get ppl saying dfa fatigue but it's way more banging and "techno" than what i associate classic dfa sound as
