Stet and I met to drink some beers the other day, and we talked about IRE. It was going to be particularly tricky to make it support unregistered posting, but a bit of lateral thinking on Stet's part came up with a way to do it that's not as difficult. I can do this for some point in the next couple of months. I take it you want IRE to support unregistered posting?

if you really wanted to destroy the rankings on "guess papers" you should have URLs come up (for IRE only) with thread titles in the actual URL.
so instead of

this thread would be
ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=44&threadid=UNREGISTERED
this would make a huge difference.

Internal links in here can look like externals, since Google still thinks we're ilx.wh3rd.net , but I've never heard of the URL making a difference to them.

how long you've owned the URL and if the search term is present inside the url are probably the biggest two factors for Google. but yeah, there are maybe 400 other factors and it constantly changes.
text in url is a big reason why Google loves blog posts and why they sometimes appear above newspaper stories in rankings on certain subjects
for example: http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/2007/06/former-official-john-kerry-blogger-hops.html
