today (and yesterday) i got:

television - marquee moon
television - adventure
patti smith group - easter
look blue go purple - LBGPEP2
and some heaven 17 12 inches.

the reason for this thread is that i can't be bothered reading what ilx got from the record store.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday I got 20 by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country by Boards Of Canada on CD. I already have the BOC one on record, but it is more practical for me to play on CD... just not as nice to look at.

Damian (Damian), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 09:13 (twenty-two years ago)

NOTHING today and NOTHING yesterday, Real Groovy kinda sucks at the moment. Though yesterday in Onehunga I got Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron. I'm still waiting for our damn record orders to turn up.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I got some jeans. Otherwise what she said, mostly

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

A "Jackass" tee-shirt.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 14 May 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Well shit, I (and Elisabeth too probably) just got a tape and Cds by the Futurians and the Aesthetics in the mail! Fuck! Once this Jimmy Shand thing finishes I'll play them, too

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 15 May 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I did too! I was so suprised!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 15 May 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

but no records, grrrr

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 15 May 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

E it's got 'WHOO OOO OO' on it!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 15 May 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

did you order them from root don lonie?

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 15 May 2003 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I KNOW!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 15 May 2003 09:36 (twenty-two years ago)

No they just got sent!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 15 May 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oh the "woo oo oo" song, its good. how come you lot get free shit in the mail?

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 15 May 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos we look poor

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 15 May 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

yay yay you guys got some futurians. is it "blastov" or "projektor"? hope its one with "dance robot" the song on it.

ducklingmonster, Friday, 16 May 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

No it's "Blastov!". I like it, though. Heard it twice as yet. Do you guys like Neu! and such crap?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 16 May 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

mission commencing. you will all die now.

Lynch (Lynch), Friday, 16 May 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah Neu! and such crap. anything with !exclamation! is good. saw latest aeathetics lineup last night and they played the ihe fav woo-oo-ooo song.

ducklingmonster, Friday, 16 May 2003 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yesterday at the record store i got television - marquee moon, too (only $12)

and in the mail i got cat power - you are free and the clash - give 'em enough rope.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Saturday, 17 May 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I got Television - The Blow Up on tape at the record store. I was also going to buy some Velvets bootleg but I couldn't afford it, sadly.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Saturday, 17 May 2003 06:42 (twenty-two years ago)

today was a good day at the sale bins - david bowie-scary monsters, sparks-no1 in heaven and sparks-propaganda

ducklingmonster, Saturday, 17 May 2003 07:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I like all that stuff too, what a homogenous board. KRS order turned up, Excuse 17/Quasi/Julie Ruin Lps, Bikini Kill (x2) and free Retsin 7"s. All are really good so far, waaaar

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 18 May 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

was your quasi album red vinyl too? red vinyl is so hawwwwwt. i think i like "easter" by patti smith better than "horses". should i get "wave"?

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 May 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

di we need to do another krs order - thoes auckland smuts r makin' me jealous

ducklingmonster, Monday, 19 May 2003 01:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hawkwind - live 1970-1972 - $3 at the warehouse - sweeeeeeeeeeet

ducklingmonster, Monday, 19 May 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

The last CD I bought for myself was Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins. Homogeneous? Not anymore :).

Damian (Damian), Monday, 19 May 2003 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah Di, get Wave! I really like it even though it is the most 'commercial' of the Patti Smith albums. Also I think I too like Easter better than Horses (except for 'Break It Up' of course) but neither are better than RADIO ETHIOPIA.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 19 May 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah get "Wave", it's pretty great, but you should be able to get it pretty cheap and you should. On the other hand I'm talking crap cos I even like "Dream of Life" quite a bit... Forced Exposure order today, Royal Trux "Accelerator" Lp, Mirror/Dash 7". I'm listening to my red Quasi vinyl even as I type, it's up to 'A Case of No Way Out'. I like Hawkwind and Smashing Pumpkins a fair bit, tho

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 19 May 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

when in dunners 3 weeks ago i couldn't find a good record store :-(

i found one on a steep street that smelled of cat piss, though.

where do you dunners folks get yr music (apart from krs shipments)?

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Monday, 19 May 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

records records - it might've been the one on the steep street you mentioned. upstairs at echo sometimes has some good stuff but its overpriced. also opshops. 50cent bins are the greatest thing since fairy bread.

duckling i might consider doing another krs order after i've bought a new tapedeck and got my camera fixed. theres also cheap strats down at cash converters getting me all hot and horny. and the flanger pedal. THE FLANGER PEDAL. gah i hate lust-for-material-objects.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 19 May 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

ma dad sent me the new dirty three cd and i catalogued a book and cd called 'New Wave folkdancing for under fives' at work

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 20 May 2003 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oooh weee i had fun in christchurch! got myself:
new order - substance
t rex - electric warrior
t rex - zip gun
sparks - kimono my house
heart - little queen
def leppard - hysteria.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 24 May 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

New Order "Substance" = Classic

Def Leppard "Hysteria" = Something I would buy with no explaination to anyone.

Excellent.

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Saturday, 24 May 2003 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

ducklingmonster, Saturday, 24 May 2003 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

good god that sounds great. i almost wish i hadn't spent all my dough in christchurch.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 24 May 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I got Never Mind The Bollocks for $5 at Cash Converters in New Lynn the other day, because why not? Well, there are plenty of reasons not to, but it was cheap.

Damian (Damian), Saturday, 24 May 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

At the booksale there is no time for thinking or taste, you have grannys with pointy elbows on either side, you see record/book you grab. Its autopilot not reason.

ducklingmonster, Sunday, 25 May 2003 05:59 (twenty-two years ago)

23 Skidoo "Seven Songs", Mission of Burma "Vs", Julian Cope "World Shut Your Mouth". Got Scott Walker "Scott 3" the day before, too. GREAT, all, but pretty expensive.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 25 May 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

does that 23 Skidoo have "IY" on it? great track.

anyway - flatmate H. had a $50 RG voucher which she didn't want, so she got me to trade her $ for it, since I'd ordered in a Miles Davis album (the one with "He Loved Him Madly" on the first side) - found out too late I couldn't get bonus points/discount/etc using the voucher. Bah.

Miles Davis - "Get Up With It"
All Saints - "The Remix Album"
Headless Chickens - "Body Blow"
& in the $2 singles bin :
Aqua - "Barbie Girl"
Wookie - "Battle"
TLC - "Waterfalls"
MJ Cole - "Sincere"
Daniel Bedingfield - "Gotta Get Thru This" & "If You're Not The One"
Shut Up And Dance - "Save It Till The Mourning After"
Princess Superstar - "Bad Babysitter"
Dimmer - "Evolution"
& my flatmate asked me to pick up Shihad's "Blue Light Disco" for her.

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 26 May 2003 05:30 (twenty-two years ago)

good lord, i wish i had a copy of "evolution" by dimmer. its shayne's only good post-sjf song.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 26 May 2003 06:14 (twenty-two years ago)

that i'm aware of.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 26 May 2003 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Check it out, it does! Di, "Crystalator"'s pretty cool.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 26 May 2003 09:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda like, um, the one with the video of him in the flat with the manky walls, & the one with the animated video. haven't heard the Doublehappys or Bored Games, tho.

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 26 May 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

oh the doublehappys are the best band he was ever in. they're so rock and roll fun.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 26 May 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

now i got "bad babysitter" stuck in my head. this is not going to turn into another lurve-cushions thread is it?

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

ew god no. i prefer my beings lipless.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

TODAY I FINALLY GOT SOMETHING
"in on the kill taker" Fugazi
Also off ebay I payed for the Young Marble Giants' Testcard EP
and found on Gemm - Amy Linton/Stewart Anderson "the Lights are Out" 7", X-Ray Spex "Germ Free Adolescents" 7" and Royal Trux "Pound for Pound" LP.
No news on whether the Gemm stuff is there or not though, so I might not get that stuff.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

While googling for stuff on Earwig, I found a guy who had a sale page last updated in 1999 which had Under My Skin I Am Laughing, the EP collection Past, & the single with "I Need Feel" on it - sent something to the email address, & the guy was still there! & so were the CDs! used paypal for the first time in five years & grabbed them - haha I have a CD Ned Raggett has been unable to find, the universe will fall apart or something!

Ess Kay (esskay), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

That'll teach that lovely friendly cunt!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

That is cool, though. I got the exact Fugazi record I was after today, and thanks to the stamp system it cost me $2. Not counting OPPORTUNITY COST but who cares, mostly that idea is useless!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

It was the "Margin Walker" Ep, btw. Should've mentioned that.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

And yesterday we got this new Sonic Youth/Erase Errata split 7", and it is fucking great.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 May 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

dionne warwick - very dionne ("some guy" has scribbled red pen "duane zarakov owns this record" and freaky all seeing eye 'n serpent pics on it - but dionne warwick looks amazing on the cover and it sounds so smooth and bacharachie. ACDC - dirty deeds done dirt cheap - 'bout time really, now i wont have to play claytons copy all the time. also we rearranged and stacked our record shelves so now they are a skyrise and my records are living in the penthouse. thoes real greedy stamps sound bloody great.

ducklingmonster, Thursday, 29 May 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, they really are. I've managed not to get any records today.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 May 2003 02:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Dionne's version of "Blowin in the Wind" is really weird. What's on that one?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 May 2003 02:37 (twenty-two years ago)

No wait I got a record w/out even leaving the HOUSE. Thank you Di!!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 May 2003 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

an odd version of "yesterday". I got a cd from the pobox for you Di.

ducklingmonster, Thursday, 29 May 2003 03:45 (twenty-two years ago)

oh cheers duckling. i hope you enjoy "tanx".

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 30 May 2003 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Today I got BANGS - SWEET REVENGE!! Second hand and in great condition. Thank god I didn't order it from KRS.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 30 May 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

And thanks to you I got the Bangs' "Tiger Beat", and it's rocking me. Also I got the A.R. Kane "Up Home!" Ep (it sounds like the lead track is pretty different to the album version, LOUDER and NASTIER, but that's just going by memory and RG's headphones) and Cabaret Voltaire "Code" Lp. Di YES I like "Tanx" a LOT, particularly the last track ("Left Hand Luke"?). Listened to it this morning. Thank you thank you.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It seems I pretty much get records every damn day.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 30 May 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

today i got a lucinda williams record, solid gold hits #9 with "out on the street" by space waltz on it, automatic 7" by the pointer sisters (with picture sleeve) and abba's single of dancing queen.

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yesterday: Hot Gossip - Geisha Boys and Temple Girls, Tom Verlaine s/t. Some stuff arrived in the mail too, Stewart Anderson/Amy Linton split 7", X-Ray Spex 7", Royal Trux - Pound for Pound. I think that's it. Oh I bought Henry's Dress and Tiger Trap off Riki on the weekend

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

B-52s 'Cosmic Thing' and Phil Manzanera 'Diamond Head'.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 5 June 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Wire's new Lp, whatever it's called (the vinyl seems to be "PF456REDUX") and 23 Skidoo "The Culling is Coming". Yesterday, though.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 8 June 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ditto w/ the Wire

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 8 June 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Sweeet. I've got Television's The Blow-Up on my Amazon wish list to remind me to look for it.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 9 June 2003 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It's good, although mine's a tape copy which fucks up during Knock On Heaven's Door, causing Tom Verlaine to sound like he is being strangled and drowning at the same time. (At least I assume it's fucking up, if it isn't someone please let me know!) Anyway in the mail from Elisabeth I got my SY/Erase Errata 7", Human League - Dare, Madonna - Like A Virgin. I also bought a Vic Godard record and Rolling Stones one. Neither are technically "today", but still. This is a long message about records.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Monday, 9 June 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom Verlaine always sounds like that HOHOHOHO

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 9 June 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah I like his voice, don't worry about it

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry about the tape or about whether or not you like Tom Verlaine's voice? I wasn't really worried about either, although if you didn't like his voice we could always ARGUE about it, woah.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Monday, 9 June 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i love tom verlaine's *cough* voice.

i just went to echo and got suckered in to buying a ton of 45s. so much for my slant 6 order.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

webber (webber), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:27 (twenty-two years ago)

as does hanoi.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

that list shoudl also include "kids in america" kim wilde.

di smith (lucylurex), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

ABC "Alphabet City" (good) Leonard Cohen "Songs of Love and Hate" (bitchin so far), Vic Godard and Subway Sect (hey same as Livvie!) "A Retrospective" (Haven't heard any as of this moment).

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Have now it's fuckiing good!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Two "i"s good even

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine was actually VG minus Subway Sect, it's called T.R.O.U.B.L.E. Pretty cute too, what is Subway Sect like? I've never heard them.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 22:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I got Royal Trux "Thank You" and the Midnight Express soundtrack, Real Groovy's weird at the moment.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 12 June 2003 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Yet more great "postpunk" action. Scratchy guitars and vocals, smart lyrics, blah blah. "We are all prostitutes" etc, though I thought that was a Pop Group lyric (maybe they shared these things like good Communists should). I'll probably tape you something off it sometime if you want. Yeah RG keeps getting really good ok-priced stuff. Let's hear it for Real Groovy!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Like it's VERY different from Godard's later stuff, I think he decided that punk was too exclusive and wasn't speaking to the lower classes and stuff. Like the guy from Scritti Politti did, sort of.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be much the same, the Jon Savage article I read about Subway Sect is didn't sound anything like the LP does. It has a version of 'Chain Smoking' on it though, that's a SS song right? Taping some would be excellent, thanks. Man, I miss talking to you about records.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 12 June 2003 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah the SS (nice initials guys, actually me and Elisabeth saw a genuine Nazi flag yesterday and it was pretty freaky) version is loud and lunging and GREAT. "CHHHHHHHAAAAAIIIIINNNNNN SMOKING!". The whole record is, really. I bet you'll see it in London, I recommend it, etc. If you want you can look for My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" Lp for me, I'd be ever so grateful. There's probably other stuff, I will do some thinking.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 01:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't look at "SS" w/out seeing the Nazi logo thing. I'll look for MBV, sure, I owe you a few records. I can't wait for shopping in London, I'm going to look for the Screamers comp. as well although I don't really think I'll find it.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Thursday, 12 June 2003 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh I didn't even know there was one! That's the synthpunk Screamers, right?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I have two song downloaded - they are really good. I can't remember what the comp. is called, only that the sound quality is supposed to be awful and it's hard to find.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 12 June 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds great

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh the first Sonic Youth Ep, I'd love that, though I'd imagine you would too. Better check w/prices etc first I guess.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 12 June 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got it on tape! Thanks to Hamish, who oh my god I promised tapes of Root and Ciccone Youth to about half way through last year and never did. If he ever reads this, I'm sorry! Maybe I'll get around to it someday now that I've remembered.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 12 June 2003 05:56 (twenty-two years ago)

i got some good stuff in the sale section at echo today, i already posted this @ ILM but can i run it down again here, is that ok

the akron complication - various (waitresses, bizarros, rubber city rebels, rachel sweet, et al)
robin trower live - robin trower
hospital - gary young
kimono my house - sparks
the womack "live" - bobby womack
sleeps with angels (cassette) - young/horse
best of or greatest hits or something, can't remember the title 'cause i left it in the car (cassette) - bob wills/tx playboys
last chance to dance (cassette) - hello sailor

"the akron complication" is great, the sparks is pretty good but i only listened to 1 side so far, the neil young sounds pretty terrible so far & i usually like pretty much anything by him

duane (doorag), Friday, 13 June 2003 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

where the hell do you get all yr money???

rebekah (rebekah), Friday, 13 June 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Old records are cheap! I like that Neil record but I love the Sparks one.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 13 June 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Today I went to RG before work!! I got Half Machine Lip Moves by Chrome. Also Andrew I put the first Stooges LP on hold for you, $20. I'm pretty sure that's the one you don't have?

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 13 June 2003 06:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i got some shit today too:
45s: trio - da da da
mike oldfield - moon light shadow
coconut rough - sierra leone
the knack - my sharona
bananarama - venus
bananarama - love in the first degree
cassettes: bell biv devoe - poison
de la soul - de la soul is dead
the commodores - greatest hits
elastica - s/t
spice girls - forever
CDB - glide with me

the cassettes were all $1. and don't start me on the looks i got from Mr Wank Echo Sales Assistant. "are you sure you want those?" "moonlight shadow is crap, except for the singer", "da da da is a classic" (no SHIT) fuck i hate record store assistants, god.

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 13 June 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds like what I'd say. I was a record assistant for a while. E, thank you! YES! Did you get that Josef K Lp? I doubt it'll be gone, anyway.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 13 June 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah I wouldn't actually hassle someone's records, unless they were Nazis or something.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 13 June 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

elisabeth do you like that chrome lp, that's 1 of my all time bomb diggedy favourites. rebekah all those things in toto cost 18 bucks (new zealand money, = 10.4454 USD, 8.80206 EUR, 6.24538 GBP according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi). but i get my money by dealing dope & playing confidence tricks on gullible divorcees.

duane, Friday, 13 June 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i think that guy that di complained about is ok

duane, Friday, 13 June 2003 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but you're a GUY duane, he respects you.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 14 June 2003 06:02 (twenty-two years ago)

that guy gives me no respect. "theres this great girl group called the shangri-las" - he really is Mr Nofuckingshit.

ducklingmonster, Sunday, 15 June 2003 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

he tried to tell me yesterday that one of the cassettes i bought was rare - and i responded, oh if its so rare then how come i picked it up so cheap at roy's two years ago? and he's like, oh roy doesn't know what he's doing. i wanted to say, "god you're so full of shit".

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 15 June 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Pere Ubu "Modern Dance", Stooges first Lp. About time!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 15 June 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Pet Shop Boys "Behaviour", Human League "Crash", $5 all up.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 19 June 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

The funny thing is all the PSB 12"s are way pricier, which seems a little stupid. I really, REALLY wish I'd been into them when I saw the B-Sides vinyl box set for like $20 (or less) that time.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 19 June 2003 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been listening to yr mixtape andrew, damm, thanks for bringing "domino dancing" back into my life

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 19 June 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool it turned up then... no problem. My pleasure. Sweet.

What've you gotten?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 21 June 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Btw I really like Bryan's "campy" versions of "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" and "Sympathy for the Devil". I bet I would've loathed them as a serious 15 yr old

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 21 June 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate Bush 'The Kick Inside', Kraftwerk 'Trans-Europe Express', Bob Dylan 'Blood on the Tracks', Big Black 'The Hammer Party'.

N*E*R*D - In Search Of, Big Black - Headache EP. Traded some stuff.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 29 June 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

man i haven't been record shopping in ages. i'm considering sneakily sneaking some of my parents records back to dunedin with me.

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 30 June 2003 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

A couple of things about the Wu-Tang Lp- it's better than the 'clean' promo I had cos it has an intro and a whole song ("The Glock") which that didn't have, AND swearing. Also, John Goodmanson of Sleater-Kinney and Bikini Kill recording fame is one of three mixers on nearly every track.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 30 June 2003 07:27 (twenty-two years ago)

hey justyn have you heard the 5,6,7,8's? if you like shonene knife, i think you would like them, cos they rock even harder.

di smith (lucylurex), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ol' Dirty Bastard 'N***a Please'

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

haven't heard the 5,6,7,8s. where are they from?

i did buy "electric warrior" tonight tho!

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 3 July 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the 5,6,7,8s were my first gig! Only a crazy Japanese Mothra-rock band would have the nerve to play Rotovegas, etc.

again @ RG spending some credit in the cheap singles section (big ups on their new point policy, too):

Urban Disturbance - No Flint No Flame EP
Ermehn - Don't Be Late single
Moizna - Just Another Day single
Hallelujah Picassos - Rewind single

Ess Kay (esskay), Thursday, 3 July 2003 06:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i bought an original 1967 Sgt Pepper's vinyl a couple of weeks ago:] i think that's the last music i bought?:o

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Thursday, 3 July 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

ess kay you have very inscrutable tastes!
yeah i saw the 5678s live too presumably on the same tour, they were a gang o'fun (justyn if you ain't picked this up yet re: where they are from - japan)(oh hey btw i was pretty impressed by the track listing of the tape you made for di (i haven't heard it but she showed it to us last night & yeah i just thought it looked good, it had lotsa songs i like + some i haven't heard that i just sorta have a hunch i'd like)("straight to hell" is such a great clash song, that was such a out-of-nowhere beautiful moment from a band i'd given up on expecting anything interesting from...i basically regard their soft rock era as a big dull waste too, i mean even the stuff that people who like em think is the "good" soft-clash...i was an ex-fan by that time so super harsh in my assessment (i only recently , last few years, came back round to liking ANY clashmusic @ all, my favourites by them now are the same favourites as back in the day pretty much i.e. the singles from between albums #1 & #2 are the best & album #2 is way the hell under rated & why was that a wimp-out sell-out whatever when the soppy "london calling" is supposed to be their big classic, i don't get it! oh whatever)....someone should put that song on a mix tape for me,huh huh someone huh?) (btw anyone wanta trade tapes w. me scope out my artofthemix.org stuff, whaddayathink amn't i TEH ROCK DJ or what, toot toot <--my own trumpet)
oh anyway ANYWAY, last records i bought were, the day before yesterday, from the sale bin @ echo : "now look" by ronnie wood (pretty decent! i dunno, is buying ronnie wood solo albums carrying stones fandom too far? no it isn't this album is PRETTY DECENT), "Filmmusik" by irmin schmidt (v. nice record too). there's a copy of "stone alone" by bill wyman in there too, do you think buying a bill wyman solo album would be carrying stones fandom too far?

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

"straight to hell" is probably my favorite clash song, along with a couple of the early singles - "complete control" and "white man in hammersmith palais." i like london calling more than the debut, which hasn't aged that well: a bit too shouty-tinny-dumb for me now, and the posturing is very un-punk, if you think about it. strummer's voice also suits the softer songs like "revolution rock" better than the noisy stuff, i think.

bill wyman is such a colossal dope: i love how he brags in his book that he had more groupies than mick jagger, like that proves anything beyond a lot of poor stupid kids apparently being desperate enough to sleep with "mr. generic rolling stone."

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 4 July 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

spending some loo$e change in my first trip to the Warehouse in months & months & months - 40c tapes, whoo.

tapes:
East 2 West : Bhangra For The Masses ('93 comp from England)
Hip House ('91 comp from Canada) (it has "Doctorin' The Tardis"!)
Kate Bush - The Red Shoes
MC Tunes - The North At Its Height
Speed Garage (2 tapes)
Speed Garage In Ibiza (another 2-parter!)

& Pet Shop Boys - I Don't Know What You Want (But I Can't Give It Any More) (cd-single)

Ess Kay (esskay), Friday, 4 July 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

justyn yeah those're probably about my 3 fav songs of theirs too as it happens (esp. "whaite man", that is great), i'm approx w. you re the 1st clash album too (it used to be my favourite record when i was 15, the 2 things that blew it away for me were hearing (1) early saints (2) the stooges. but i like "enough rope" (most of it anyway) cause it's sorta like the good aspects of the 1st album but w. a way tuffer sound (better drumming too). i dunno most "real' clash fans seem to hate that record tho.

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Friday, 4 July 2003 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hey dunedin punters there is a pile of really great new 2nd hand country & blues albums in echo, lotsa old timey country & like Yazoo blues reissues & stuff, i got a stanley bros album & this compilation album called "mr charlie's blues" , hot hot stuff, yall should go look thru that stuff cause there's some really god ones there

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Friday, 4 July 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

duane (24 hour troubleshooter), Friday, 4 July 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

duane, Saturday, 12 July 2003 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a few outtakes, from his first session leading and from some stint he did w/Bokker Little's band. It's good!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 12 July 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 12 July 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

duane, Saturday, 12 July 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

hey um, I'm flat-out broke (caught in winz-limbo, not even 25c in my account) so I'm not too sure when I'll be able to grab the tapes, or if they'll still be there when I do. um you could try asking andrew or elisabeth, I guess.

Ess Kay (esskay), Saturday, 12 July 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

andrew or elisabeth can you please get me one of the pulp cassettes from the warehouse?

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 13 July 2003 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

duane, Sunday, 13 July 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Well there was only one left, so can you share it? We got it, anyway. I got a crappy (I hear) Prince tape, 'Come', and also thanks to Elisabeth X-Ray Spex's "Germfree Adolescents". Got Daft Punk "Discovery" a while ago, too.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

secretary, ha

that was a great movie.

black plastic (black plastic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

ok yes we can take turns with it or whatever, thanks.
i got some good stuff in the sale bin today & also the guy (the guy that patronises di) gave me this really cool record by harry choates (cajun fiddler from like the 1940s or so) for 0 because he said it is warped & you can't play the 1st couple songs on ea. side but when i got it home it plays fine on my stereo.
hey anyone that lives in this town if you're into old jazz there's still a few duke ellington & louis armstrong records there real cheap 7 a bunch of other pretty good stuff, yall should go look.

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I got three Lou Reed records a while ago

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 24 July 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 24 July 2003 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i didn't buy any rekkids but i got andrew's mixtape in the mail, as usual its choice.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i got these tapes from the werehouse in south dn. - code:selfish by the fall, wrong way up by cale/eno, supernova by left eye, poison by bell biv devoe, & the cassingle of hit em up style by blu cantrell. some of em were $1 & some of em were 50c.

duane, Sunday, 27 July 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
'Code: Selfish' has some good stuff, esp "Free Range" and "Birmingham School of Business School". Yesterday I got a John Cale record "Even Cowgirls get the Blues". I am STOKED AS A FIRE ENGINE cos I didn't know it was even put out on vinyl, it has six tracks that aren't on anything else, and it is GOOD. It's live at CBGBs when he was all drunk and angry all the time in the late 70s. I also got a W.G. Sebald book which is ace so far, read a third of it or so.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 14 August 2003 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I got some Free Kitten 7" and an Edmund White book. I'm sure the revival of this thread will liven up the board!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 14 August 2003 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i haven't bought records i ages. i'm too broke. i'd say i'm too busy, too, but since i took half this week off school to read a novel and play my guitar, it'd kind of be a lie.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 14 August 2003 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you'll be getting some in the mail soon enough, don't think you can escape the awful plague of records!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 14 August 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

woohoo!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 14 August 2003 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Today I bought a Talking Heads record (Stop Making Sense, I think) and LOST IT! I'm so annoyed, plus it cost like 8 whole dollars.

Livvie (Livvie), Friday, 15 August 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Laurie Anderson: Home of the Brave, Wire: A Bell is a Cup, New Order 12" for Andrew.
PS Home of the Brave rules and it has only fueled my love for Laurie Anderson more and more. Not as good as Mister Heartbreak though.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 15 August 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it's fucking great how much you love Laurie AND Lou! I'm also glad you like that record, it's pretty kickass

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 15 August 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i would quite like a copy of Big Science, can you folkx keep an eye open for me?

The Lady Ms Dogshit (lucylurex), Saturday, 16 August 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

So would I, actually, although the chances of finding two copies may not be high and Di did ask first.

Livvie (Livvie), Saturday, 16 August 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Morrissey "Education in Reverse", Leonard Cohen "Song of Love and Hate" (again), Charles Mingus "The Clown", Method Man "Tical", Royal Trux "Hand of Glory", New Order "1981-1982" Ep. Shit, baby.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 17 August 2003 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Corb Lund Band, Kraftwerk, Sean Paul, Half Man Half Biscuit, and MOTHERFUCKING HALL AND OATES MOTHERFUCKERS.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 17 August 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Di/Liv that record will turn up at at least twice, I'm sure.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 17 August 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh it definitely will. Otherwise one of you can have Mr Heartbreak which is really great.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Now for my weekend purchases:
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions, Outkast - Stankonia, Billie Holiday - Lady in Satin, Lou Reed - the Bells and New Order - Substance. I think these were good Lps to spend my last $70 bonus at Real Groovy on.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah "Mister Heartbreak"'s better anyway

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

New Order Substance and Lou Reed wooooooooo
I still need "Transformer" on vinyl.

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got it and it's WARPED and I payed six whole dollars for it! I've also got Rock'n'Roll Animal which skips right at the end of "Heroin".

Livvie (Livvie), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i got the songs fo rthe deaf album by queens of the stoneage, a week or so ago but never mind:D:D:D it's amazing. propa bo i tell thee!

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I still want that record, I don't care what Lezzie says

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I have it too, Andrew... go bloody pick it up. I have both those Lou Reed albums on CD, but nevermind, I think Transformer would sound better on vinyl. I have Berlin and Metal Machine Music on CD too... I used to listen to Metal Machine Music on headphones when I worked in a factory third shift. I think that job was making me nuts because I was starting to see how very, very musical that album is.

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I have Transformer on vinyl, it's so great.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm jealous. I don't have any Lou Reed that isn't broken in some way.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 21 August 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

get a copy of Metal Machine Music, you probably won't be able to tell whether that's broken or not

duane, Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i luv that rec tho! dan i've got it on vinyl, that's the authentic MMM experience. HEADPHONES tho, yeah ok, that's hardcore!

duane, Thursday, 21 August 2003 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

"kinda relaxing, as new age goes, but back in the signal corps i frequently spent all night on forested hilltops near the east german border, lulled to sleep by volkswagen-sized power generators, and lemme tell ya: they kick this crap's ass from here to kingdom come."
-chuck eddy's review of "metal machine music"

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 21 August 2003 06:03 (twenty-two years ago)

my last purchase: the best of the shangri-las.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 21 August 2003 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

i went record shopping today! finally! and i got: human league - travelogue, and the following 45s: queen - i want it all, mick jagger - hard woman, sparks - this town ain't big enough for the both of us.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 06:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Di I taped you a song off that Human League album I think!

Livvie (Livvie), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Madonna - Like a Prayer, Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food, the Monkees - Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones ltd, that Pete Shelley Lp with the spectrum tape. I mainly bought that because I want to try out the game on my sinclair! These were all from the cheap bins at some record store in Hamilton. It was good good good good, good good good.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Madonna s/t, Gary Numan "I, Assassin", Bangles "Everything", Dexy's Midnight Runners "Searching for the Young Soul Rebels", same place as E. Yes it was good. Her T Heads is BRAND NEW, I'll have you know!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 27 August 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Goddamn Real Groovy STILL hasn't replaced the cheap Lps. IF YOU ARE GOOGLING THIS RG PLEASE HURRY UP!!
Yes we all know capitals are easier to google.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 28 August 2003 04:50 (twenty-two years ago)

travelogue is REALLY FUCKING GOOD. i can't wait to put this on at my party on saturday night. the record store assistant advised me to put "being boiled" on "REALLY FUCKING LOUD". heh.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 28 August 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Oval "94 Diskont", Royal Trux 3rd Lp and "The Radio Video Ep", My Bloody Valentine "Loveless"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 31 August 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

So far Oval is better than I expected, the RTX Lp as good as I was thinking it'd be.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 31 August 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i got heaps of records for my birthday, lucky me. jenny got me a ton of 45s, including martika and little river band :-). anton got me heaps of albums, such as human league's "hysteria", a new order one and a darryl hall solo album. i can't remember the others, there were so many.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 31 August 2003 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Royal Trux 3rd LP/Radio Video EP, James Chance and the Contortions - Buy/Off White, New Order Peel Sessions, Minutemen - Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 31 August 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

How're the Peel Sessions? "Loveless" is pretty much exactly as good as I expected, seeing as how I'm really familiar w/most of the best tracks already (esp. "Soon" which I've had on the "Glider" Ep for years and "To Here Knows When" which I've seen the video for a few times and had taped for me by Damian), so my mind isn't blown but FUCK that's a tingly song, the last one, and also I'm nothing like familar enough w/the record to even judge, really.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 September 2003 07:33 (twenty-two years ago)

It took me years to love Loveless, it did.

Damian (Damian), Monday, 1 September 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

"In Search of..." NERD, "Face of a Fighter" Willie Nelson. Both fuckin GREAT!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 September 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 5 September 2003 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Radiohead - Go To Sleep. 12" single:D

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Sunday, 21 September 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Seperate records and things related to them are indicated by commas. Surely it isn't THAT difficult. Cheap Trick was $3, yay cheap records yay. It was between them and Burt Bacharach, which I'll probably get some other time.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Monday, 22 September 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm in england, records are too expensive even in charity shops. i did buy the single of just cant get enough by depeche mode for 50p tho.

duane, Monday, 22 September 2003 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

they're only as expensive as cds, singles are cheaper, i got the radiohead one for £2.99 and the others for £1.99, i saw them for £1.49 in virgin after i bought them though:| shock horror.

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Monday, 22 September 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

and there's a real horrorshow record shop in York, i think i've bummed about it on here before, but they've got relatively cheap vinyls, mostly like old ones, but in mint condition:) i bought the Sgt. Peppers LP frmo there a couple of months ago and plays like a treat and in perfect condition=] only £15.

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah I got "The Neptunes Present... Clones", cheaper than the Cd! I never get tired of letting people know that. It's good.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

And I got Minor Threat - Out of Step. Does anyone have that really typical punk patch punks used to sell of this album cover? With the black sheep and OUT OF STEP on it? I wish I had one, it's real funny.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 2 October 2003 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Damian (Damian), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I got Berlin's "Count Three and Pray" yesterday, it's got "Take My Breath Away" on it (swoon) but otherwise it's not so great.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I couldn't really remember much else about it.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

It's very powerballady

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 14 October 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Everly Brothers "Greatest Hits", but COME ON it doesn't have "Cathy's Clown" on it! FUCK! Still I'm sure it'll be lovely. Also Mary Margaret O'Hara's "Miss America", so far good, kinda like Cat Power/Hugo Largo, and Johnny Cash "The Singing Story Teller", which is fantastic.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll have to buy at least ONE other Everly Brothers record, though. Such is life.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

don't you hate those so-called "greatest hits" records which inexplicably ignore one or more of the actual hits?

i haven't BOUGHT a record in ages, but i did tape pil's second edition and some jazz from the library the other day.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

'Second Edition' just RULES, doesn't it? The EB record was only $3, but still that was the very song I was most looking forward to. My fault for not checking, blah blah

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 00:56 (twenty-two years ago)

manukau warehouse! tapes! moloko's things to make & do, scritti politti's anomie & bonhomie, gary numan's premier hits + the cdsingle for the strokes' "last nite" (omg they had the FRENCH CDSINGLE for daft punk's "aerodynamic"! v.sadly it consists of just that track plus the "instrumental" version of same). & tiffany's s/t on cassette from the SALLIES (BLESS THURR 'ARTS).

(just gonna go to Real Groovy, take a look at the new Scribe, Junior Senior, Major Flavours 04, Ladytron's mix-cd, the new Fall remaster/compilation).

etc, Thursday, 16 October 2003 06:05 (twenty-two years ago)

How's the Scritti? Also, is that the Fall on Phonogram comp? If so, I think it looks pretty good but I can't quite see the point of a comp drawn from three albums that are always around cheap anyway. Of course I don't see the point of most Fall releases anymore

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 17 October 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Pere Ubu 'Terminal Tower', at last, and the Coolies' Cd from the gig. It's really good!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 19 October 2003 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah ditto for the Coolies.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 19 October 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Tuesday, 21 October 2003 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

They're catchy and stuff, and that record has boobs on the cover. TODAY I got Gary Numan's 'Telekon', haven't heard it yet.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

HMMM let's see - OUTKAST - SPEAKERBOXXX/THE LOVE BELOW!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 23 October 2003 03:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently at one stage Surfer Rosa was going to be called Gigantic - no shit. Numan good, Floyd good.

Damian (Damian), Thursday, 23 October 2003 08:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Well that would've been a funny title!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, given the artwork and all - I'm assuming that's why they said no. Hard to conceive of people at 4AD with that sort of sense of humour.

Damian (Damian), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Ya! Did the Outkast finally arrive on LP, or did you cave and buy the cd? What do you think? Can you justify listening to such a morally questionable work?
I can't remember what the last record I bought was. Hmph. Find of the month tho has to be the Beat Street soundtrack at the Sallies. Woo!

Minty (Minty), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

LP! It had only just arrived, the price stickers weren't even on it yet.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I read that as "Prince stickers" which seemed a bit harsh

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 12:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok ok ok... I got Blondie - Parallel Lines, Michael Jackson - Off the Wall and The Goon Show vol 8. Yeah I shoulda had those already, but better late than never I guess.

Minty (Minty), Friday, 24 October 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish I had some Prince stickers, we should check in the Orewa 123$$ store.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

YES! I was thinking like "This record may as well have been made by Prince, go buy one of his records instead" or something

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 24 October 2003 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Macro Dub Infection on record? On Land = nice and spooky.

Schwingung (Damian), Sunday, 16 November 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

A bit scratchy, also, but FREE! Yeah MDI on record, it looks interesting. HEY I was also given a fantastic looking Associates Dbl Cd by the great Damian, lucky old me.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 16 November 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, y'know, Cash Converters, half-price...

Schwingung (Damian), Sunday, 16 November 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It was still a nice gesture, man

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 16 November 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hey hey does anyone know if push push's cover of "i love my leather jacket" is in any way awesome? because I've located a cassingle with that as the b-side!

etc, Monday, 17 November 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard it was kinda stupid, but mostly intended as a tribute/earn Martin some royalties. So those records, the Youngs/Bower is good for what it is, two guys fucking around w/guitars. Some nice droning bits, good music to not concentrate on. I thought the DR3 record'd be more of the same but NO it's really really good (on one listen, and it's easy to get excited about free stuff obv) heavy drone guitar riffs and stuff, almost STONER ROCK. I love riffs. I'm listening to the Associates now, the demoes of the hits are lovely and there's a shitload of otherwise unaround songs, pretty much all of them good as far as I can tell so far, thanks again D. I'm looking forward to 'Stephen, You're Really Something'. The Eno's fantastic, it's ENO. Haven't played "MDI" yet.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 November 2003 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

And D. is there something notable about having "MDI" on vinyl? I nearly didn't take it, actually, but there's a few things on it I'm kind of interested in hearing.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 17 November 2003 05:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I never knew it existed on LP, which was why I was curious. I dunno how rare or in-print it is on LP or CD these days.

Schwingung (Damian), Monday, 17 November 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

King Crimson "Beat" (much better than I'd heard), OutKast "ATLiens" (fantastic three tracks in)

I got ATLiens as well, it's great.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 20 November 2003 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Schwingung (Damian), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Schwingung (Damian), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Schwingung (Damian), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

From Gonzo's new Crawlspace at the markets (a whole new Cspace for me to stand around): Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - I See a Darkness and this Erase Errate/Supreme Indifferences/the Gossip/Sleetmute Nightmute 7"
From the Grey Lynn festival: Neil Young - After the Gold Rush, Sandy Nelson - Teen Beat, Bob Dylan - Planet Waves, Brian Eno - the Plateaux of Mirror and the Modern Lovers live. This time around the festival was good for records and books, but not clothes.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 24 November 2003 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I got some Cds too! I forgot! E. got me Fatboy Slim "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" from a garage sale, and Gonzo gave me "Fit for Kings" volume two cos he has millions of them and I did the photography (it turns out the weirdly appropriate crown graffitti on the way out to Larnach Castle was done by Michael Morley, oooh spooky). The Fatboy;s great so far, haven't listened to FFK

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 25 November 2003 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 27 November 2003 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I got the soundtrack to a Man and a Woman from the rainbow op shop.

It was a good haul, tho. Cheap too. Good to see the Red Cross doing something useful for once.

Minty (Minty), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:58 (twenty-two years ago)

botany downs warehouse - foxbase alpha on cassette for 2.99, & "bouncin' back (bumping you against the wall)" for 1.99. awesome!

etc, Friday, 5 December 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Where the hell do you think the Warehouse get their tapes from? Like surplus stock from record labels maybe? They've got odd stuff.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 5 December 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah what was with those thousands of copies of wire peel sessions???

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 5 December 2003 10:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Deletions from Europe, most likely.

Schwingung (Damian), Friday, 5 December 2003 11:37 (twenty-two years ago)

And here's what I got from the record fair! A lot!
Sparks - Indiscreet, Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy and the Poor Boys, Scritti Politti - Songs to Remember, Midnight Cowboy soundtrack, Beatles - Please Please Me and Revolver, Talking Heads - Speaking in Tounges and Stop Making Sense, The League - Love and Dancing, Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music ($20 but it's a pretty bad pressing, doesn't really matter tho), T. Also some sixties/seventies "Motion Picture" magazines, one of which I'm gonna give to my secret santa at work. Geez I got a lot.

Big splurge-out for me. They will have to vie for the place "Song Cycle" seems to have cemented on my player.

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Records!! Human League - Don't You Want Me 12", PiL 12", Donna Summer - Bad Girls and Morrissey - Viva Hate. AND I got White Light/White Heat for my parents to give me for xmas.

From E: A Man and a Woman OST

Also a bunch which i'm not mentioning cos they're Xmas presents or I can't be arsed

Minty (Minty), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, how cheap? Try and explain where!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

it's in one of the bins closest to the counters, & aligned so most of the cds are aligned from the left to the right of the store; the cd itself was the foremost CD in the second-from-the-right row in the section closest to the counter. um. it's near an n'sync celebrity bio box thing, + some other stuff I stashed there.

etc, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

It's probably the Sugar Altar one? 'cause that's in the cheaps here; I'm planning to go back for it

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

hey some nice scores ppl! if anyone in dunedin want a copy of francoise hardy's "la question" there's one in roy's @ the mo., i think it's only like $10 or maybe 12. hey anton can you make me a tape &i'll hit you back when i get a new tape deck(/old one fixed/borrow one/whatever)? the bo diddley live album (if it's good.is it? i would imagine so but tell me what it's like, when it's from?), the dirtbombs lp, + maybe fill it up w/ some poison & quiet riot & culture club #s? if you can. thanks! hey liz it is great that you like "song cycle" cause like i said i just figured it'd be the sort of thing you'd like. + i ♥ it mice elf. anyway have you heard any of his other records, the 2 albums after that one are real good too altho nowhere near as "weird" so maybe you wouldn't like em. 'cause you only like "weird" stuff huh. no j/k & anyway they are sort of weird, they're even less like "rock" recs than "song cycle" 'cause he gets into all this old school trinidadian & covers all these calypso songs & stuff. that's "discover america" & "clang of the yankee reaper". elisabeth how do you like "metal machine music"?

duane, Wednesday, 10 December 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Real Groovy bargain basement is OPEN!! Out of the cheap Lps I got:
Velvet Underground Live (!!!), Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures, Gary Numan - Telekon, Yoko Ono - It's Alright (I See Rainbows). They were 5 for $20. I also got that Stephin Merritt soundtrack that the Squid mentioned.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow Elisabeth those records sound GREAT. From the record store that is Di I got "A History of T-Rex" and even though I'm talking to her RIGHT NOW I forgot to mention it, so thanks Di!

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:58 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, went through the entire bargain basement $3 cds, stashed some away, then disappeared for four hours.

picked up chapterhouses's blood music, double exposure's ten percent, crydamoure presents "waves", lushburger's slabneckery, paris angels' sundew, best of acid house 1, gerling's children of telepathic experiences, bizarre inc's energique, & future stupid's cannon fodder.

yeah, the stephin merritt stdk was gone. & to the scum who STOLE the field mice's for keeps, losoul's belong, bows' blush & lush's gala, you'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

etc, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah, & the jean-paul sartre experience's the size of food on cheap cassette, considering the secondhand cd of it is retailing for FIFTY BUCKS.

etc, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

yay i'm glad you received the record! hope it was in good condition and that you enjoy it! :-)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i feel compelled to mention that most of those cds were purchased with a $20 bonus. & that matt told me, post-bitch, that e had grabbed the merritt (haha, isn't it only one 't'?), & damian or alex had grabbed the field mice.
the fucker/s who took the losoul & the bows better watch their back, tho.

etc, Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

It's two, download boy! I got Stevie Wonder's Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants, Richard Harris "The Yard Went on Forever...", Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for "The Untouchables" (that was in the mail), David Bowie "Ziggy Stardust", Led Zeppelin "Physical Graffitti", woo bargain basement

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 18 December 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 18 December 2003 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey yr magazine'll get sent pretty soon too, I think! E. got the single fine, btw.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I got Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" today, and it turned out to be (on first listen anyway) way WAY better than I'd expected. And I expected at least somewhere in my mind a LOT. Fuck he has one of the most gorgeous voices I've ever heard, I've never heard him sing like this before, the first few lines of the title track were kind of overpowering.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah thanks for the single Jim! It was a nice surprise.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

cool. sorry it took so damn long :)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

sir lord doorag, Wednesday, 24 December 2003 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Recently I bought a present for Andrew and a Jimi Hendrix CD for my dad.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 25 December 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

And I got that present I guess

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Saturday, 27 December 2003 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Boards of Canada - Twoism, Aislers Set - Terrible Things Happen, SYR 3, Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier and a Bruce Gilbert 7". Most of this was from our 3 Beads of Sweat order, which turned up really late today making it really really exciting.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Monday, 29 December 2003 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

For a start I spent some of my Grandparent money on Kraftwerk's "Tour De France Soundtracks" Lp then once we got back to E's that order had arrived! Thrilling! So also Porter Ricks "Trident Ep", John Fahey "Christmas with John Fahey Vol. 2", Bill Direen "Human Kindness", Sonic Youth "SYR 2".

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 29 December 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i got my long-awaited copy of April Showers' "abandon ship", unfortunately the 7" and not the 12" but then i don't have a spare $300 lying around for that one

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 29 December 2003 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

You will be getting a Timonium CD in the mail soon too.

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

John Fahey has a Christmas album?

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuckin A! In fact it seems he has two. This one's really good, side one's rather lovely versions of a bunch of carols, two a couple of long improvisations based off (I guess) Christmassy themes. You could happily play it to yr family on Christmas too, if you wanted. John Fahey was a weird guy.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

All I know is that he collected turtles. Strange.

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

He also completely failed to look after himself despite his pretty severe diabetes, tho that's more SAD than STRANGE. Making entirely sincere and loveable Christmas records seems weird to me, from a guy like him.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

black sabbath - paranoid and neil young - on the beach

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

James White and the Blacks "Sax Machine", Lou Reed "Transformer" (hopefully it's not too scratchy)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 1 January 2004 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Chic - C'est Chic, in the mail.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 3 January 2004 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 4 January 2004 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

hey damian thanks heaps for the timonium cd - it's great!

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh cool, it arrived - glad you like it.

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Johnny Cash "Ballads of the American Indian", Willie Nelson "Red Headed Stranger", the first really GOOD records I've ever found in the RG country cheap bins. So far the Cash's great and very bitter, pretty moving. I didn't know he was partly Cherokee, did you?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I did. Did you hear anything about that Carla Bozulich album that came out last year which was a re-recording of Red Headed Stranger in its entirety? Willie himself was on it. I only know these things because my dad likes country music.

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Did he sing it? This has the makings of a scam

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

He guested on a few tracks, maybe in duet capacity.

Schwingung (Damian), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Queens of the Stone Age "Songs for the Deaf"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Lil' Kim - La Bella Mafia

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

tested the mysterious limits of my credit card (it's now $40 over what I thought the credit limit was, but it's still going through) by getting the Magnetic Fields' The Wayward Bus/Distant Plastic Trees, which I justify with (a) it's out of print, (b) i'm sick & need something un-busy to convalesce to, & (c) I only know one track off it really well.

etc, Thursday, 8 January 2004 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

my credit card goes $100 over its limit, usually.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 8 January 2004 10:47 (twenty-two years ago)

that's pretty useful to know - thanx di.

actually I know two tracks off it really well. & I'd picked up Moonshake's Big Good Angel EP (shades of Klee) from the Rainbow opshop. it's rilly rilly good - half of it's like a late-period Long Fin Killie crossed w/early Insides.

etc, Friday, 9 January 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

trespassers william "different stars"
smallgoods "listen to the radio"
erase errata "other animals"
sekiden "junior fiction"

Tusk! I got Oval "Dok" (kickass, better than "94diskont" I reckon so far), Tanaka-Nixon Meeting "Blessed" 7" (Michael Morley and Danny Butt make some indistinct thumps and guitar lines/noise), both from Gonzo's too. Cheap!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 12 January 2004 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

William Hooker Group "Vulnerability" 7" from RG (red vinyl, ooh, only 100 of those man), Strokes "Room on Fire", LFO "Sheath", Tubeway Army's first Lp. Traded my Spacemen 3 sides in at Fast and Loose.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 18 January 2004 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Slant 6! I've heard one song by them and two by Helium, the Slant 6 one was far better though.

petra jane (petra jane), Sunday, 18 January 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

What did you decide Di? My great-uncle Ken gave me Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits and The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (coverless, but still). I'm also thinking of stealing a Queen record I'm sure no one ever plays from the record collection in this house (which belongs to my cousins, somehow making it seem slightly less criminal).

Livvie (Livvie), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i decided whiskey

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

John Fogerty 'Centerfield' (nothing even like as good as his debut, aww, worth the $2.50 tho), Merle Haggard and the Strangers 'A Working Man Can't Get Nowhere Today' (I'll stop buying records by him all the time now, maybe, it's another really good one tho, $2.50 as well)

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 25 January 2004 11:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck, TEN DAYS. Ray Charles "Crying Time" (or "The Versatile Mr. Ray Charles", the sleeve/cover don't agree) and "Johnny Cash at San Quentin". He's anxious to hear "A Boy Named Sue".

---
&...does anyone ever see Kittie's "spit" on sale? I've been trying to buy it since 2000! It seems to be stolen from the library here.

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

There's loads more cheap most things, videos/Cds/clothes, but no more cheap vinyl than before. Less accessible tho which is kinda good, see E's VU live 1969 find probably, I don't see how else it stayed there. Kittie, were they a brief Riot Grrrly mainstream/punk girlband? Have you searched the RG website? I got those sides from FAST AND LOOSE again, last of my credit

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 15 February 2004 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i got 3 rosemary clooney LPs for a buck each today & then before that the last rec's i bought (well my sister got em for me,remind me to pay her back when she gets back in town) was a auction lot of old albums that i figure came from 2 generations of the same family...buncha musicals ("pal joey"! of course!) & light classical w/ a stratum of late 60s/early 70s hard rock & stuff in the middle...incl. atomic rooster, mandrill, potliquor, bo hansson's "music inspired by lord of the rings", etc etc, also "woodstock 2", the isle of wight fest 3xLP, a bunch of those label samplers like "hot rock" & "the rock machine turns you on" - $25. oh yeah & the box also included a 1974 JRR Tolkein calendar.

duane, Monday, 16 February 2004 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

the Magnetic Fields' Holiday on Valentine's Day (bah).

etc, Monday, 16 February 2004 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Kittie, were they a brief Riot Grrrly mainstream/punk girlband? Have you searched the RG website?
They dressed punk/riot g/goth but they're definately Metal. They do that whole "BLOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAARRRRRRRR!" death metal vocals thing (I can't render it - those throaty yells). They're Canadian, they were all like 16years old the stuff I've heard and it blew me away. Yeah checked the RG site a few times, they've only had new copies.
I traded the All Saints album in at RG and got the Pure SHores single instead cause I thought the rest of the album was crap. Also got A Bongwater compilation CD and "off" by The Aethetics for $4, I'm too scared to put it on, I am worried about it's effect on me.

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Monday, 16 February 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 04:02 (twenty-two years ago)

People who hate them seem to think they should go on about it, tho

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i love going on about them too. the darkness are psychically in tune with me, either that or they are the perfect band. probably both.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 20 February 2004 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

All the HOOHAH about them made me dig 'Sonic Temple' out, the only record I left at the old flat the insane guy who moved in next had taken out to look at. It's pretty good.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 20 February 2004 06:01 (twenty-two years ago)
