Will you idiots ever grow up?

Adrian McCoy (Adrian McCoy), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

shut up, i'm so grown up i want to kill my mum.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Adrian I'd like to learn more about "TR the Legend". Is there any on the internet?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 14 August 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Adrian, don't kill your mother. That would leave only you to coddle my weiner on cold winter nights. And, while your filthy lips are certainly up to task, there's nothing quite like the feeling of watching a mother and son team sharing a cock, touching tongues and taking turns while staring up at you from their knees with sleepy bedroom eyes. Just knowing that you can bring such pleasure to a family, it makes me feel, well, horny. Call your mom and tell her I want to plug her in the ass tonight, bitch. And you, come get your fucking underwear off of my living room floor you stupid, eh, cocksucker.

You know if Uncle Karl smells your stink ass he'll want to have a go at it again. So for your sake, I hope you're still wearing the butt plug I gave you.

(Don't let Adrian know, but the ass plug he's been wearing is really the core from a half-eaten apple with a rubber band super glued to the stem. He's been wearing it for a couple days -- most likely he's given the apple worms.)

slammy (rudeboy), Thursday, 14 August 2003 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously, I want to see some TR the Legend! Please!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 15 August 2003 06:38 (twenty-two years ago)

haha! why has adrian not exploded as a result of slammy's comment?

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Monday, 18 August 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yawn asshole.I have been busy doing more than bitching about people that I dont even know.Get a life genius.

Adrian McCoy (Adrian McCoy), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 07:46 (twenty-two years ago)

"adrian's guest list"

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

What the hell is that supposed to mean??????????

Adrian McCoy (Adrian McCoy), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Elizabeth, I think you should get cards that say oxygen slut. That sounds strangely exotic.

Speaking of oxygen sluts, when I was a kid someone told me that if we ran out of trees, we would run out of oxygen because there would be nothing to asimilate the carbon dioxide. After I learned that, and I noticed more and more trees in my neighborhood were getting torn down, I started practicing holding my breath a lot, as to conserve oxygen and make sure everyone else got some.

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

How lovely of you to give up some of yr oxygen for others!
At night time the trees drink up the oxygen too, I'm pretty sure I remember that from science. Not sure what they turn it into, but my mum never keeps plants in her room at night. Though she's not a prime example of sanity.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 19 August 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, at least your mum's logic has something to do with science, and not that she's afraid she's going to wake up one day and realize the plants have grown around her ankles as she slept and she slept, and not be able to leave her bed that day.

Actually, do you think that excuse would be legitimate for calling in sick to work?

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

try it?

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Or maybe I'll just not call in at all and mail them a picture of me being attacked by a plant

The Man they call Dan (The Man they call Dan), Wednesday, 20 August 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
At night time the trees drink up the oxygen too, I'm pretty sure I remember that from science. they drink carbon dioxide, the main product of aerobic respiration, and turn it into oxygen. this is why we need trees and why many people keep plants in their houses - to replenish the oxygen supply.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 10:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Well duh. I vaguely remembered something about trees taking in oxygen at night time due to the lack of sunlight, which I believe is needed for photosynthesis. No idea if this is correct or not. I do know my 5th form science, however.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Also, thanks for returning to revive such a wonderful thread

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Clare nice fucking job finding this thread, you fucking dweeb! TREES MAKE OXYGEN! FUCK MY FUCKING MIND WE HAD NO FUCKING IDEA

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Stop using italics it's fucking annoying

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey next you can please explain to me how "night" is when the Sun's shining on the other side of the Earth?

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

And clear this puzzler up for me, do cars run on PETROL or FEATHERS?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

the trees use carbon dioxide to photosynthesise (with light obviously) the waste product of the photosynthesis is oxygen, which they need to respire, which produces carbon dioxide, so it's one big cycle, so they produce and use both gases.

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

trees/plants etc/whatever:) I AM BIOLOGIST HAX0R;O

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

also, regarding the night time thing, as there is no light, well not a high enough wavelength of it for sufficiant photosynthesis, it uses up some oxygen for it's contant respiration, it respires constantly yet only photosynthesises when there is sufficiant light...etc:]

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Jonathan, you are a cool guy

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

b-b-but andrew i like using italics!!

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha, ty andrew;]

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks for clearing that up Jonathan, I was sure respiration occured in plants as well.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

because it's very important that elisabeth was wrong. cos if she was, you know, it would matter a lot, esp with something so important like trees.

black plastic (black plastic), Thursday, 16 October 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

And I wasn't wrong! Hooray!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Justyn you use them properly, good for you. Rock on.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

truthfully, i was just interested in plants and doing some back reading. as for italics, i assure you i know very well how they should and should not be used and if my use of them annoys you that's your problem.

hope that slide test went well elizabeth, and if it interests you - i remember you, i'm sure, from the s-k concert, and beleive me, i'm just as keen to bow out of an orgy that you're attending as you are one i'm invited to.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 16 October 2003 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't say they were incorrect, I said they were annoying.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

No-one else has ever felt the need to italicise "carbon dioxide" though, so I'll go out on a limb and say they're incorrect too

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 05:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean if they were for EMPHASIS then you should've decided whether yr post was meant as a sarcastic rejoinder or a "scientific" explanation

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right, you're interested in plants. I don't believe posting basic information on a thread from 3 months ago counts as back reading, but who knows. Perhaps you could try the library, or a website if that isn't possible - that'd be a far better start than the "I hate Elisabeth!" (wow, Adrian manages to get my name right) thread. Stop making ridiculous excuses for your assholism and leave, before you make yourself look any worse.

EliSabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 06:08 (twenty-two years ago)

And might I add MEEEEEOOOOOWWW!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 06:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i remember you, i'm sure, from the s-k concert, and beleive me, i'm just as keen to bow out of an orgy that you're attending as you are one i'm invited to

b-b-but elisabeth looks like claudia gonson (judging from the one photo of claudia gonson that i have seen), who would say no to that??!!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 16 October 2003 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i have now seen 3 pictures of claudia, and 2 of them look like E.

http://www.houseoftomorrow.com/claudia.jpg

will i ever start this freaking essay?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 16 October 2003 06:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep a houseplant so I won't run out of oxygen!

oops (Oops), Thursday, 16 October 2003 07:09 (twenty-two years ago)

If I ever visit you'll be out of oxygen in no time..

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 07:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm really not worried about how i look to you. i mentioned the plant thing cause it was the only bit of botany i remember ( i switched to animal physiology). i do admit the thread title does confuse things a little. hang on, i seem to recall the work xylem - could just as easily be a bad auckland band name.

what's wrong with renewing old threads, however lame they were first time round? i'd imagine that's one of the good attributes of this mode of chatter.

I didn't say they were incorrect, I said they were annoying.

yeah and i said if they annoy you that's your problem. don't be so picky - you're as bad as an unmarried, virgin, 40+year old copy editor, but possibly less well read/dressed/travelled.

i do enjoy your analysis, however, so please keep it up. i'll be lurking back here when time permits. i mostly get paid to sit and read so i have plenty of time and they gave me this lovely new computer that hooks up to every network i go near. i like to think of this activity as cultural bottom feeding. sometimes reactive characters are better than prescribed ones.

oh yeah i meant to say andrew, you were kinda right about murakami - dance dance dance left me really unsatisfied. and i had the naive idea reading him sorta in situ would make him better. he writes (or is translated) in english very cleanly though, which should always be admired. but doesn't carter suffer from a penchant for magic realism - or am i confusing her with some other revisionist feminist?

of course, it must be added that i italicised co2 not to be snarky but to emphasise that it primarily, not o2, was sucked in by plants. i'll own the post was less than tight sensewise - all i can say is that after years of post grad work in liberal arts i got a little excited to be thinking science, my undergard degree, again.

also, i imagine you vote for the greens and so really i was just trying to roundabout apologise for my poor behaviour last week (this week's no better) by mentioning something the greens love. i could be wrong, maybe your carefully constructed catholic tastes take you elsewhere politically.

elizabeth i love well bred cats and miss mine so please to append meows, if that's what that was, where possible - could you program a quick key to save keystrokes?

if elizabeth looks like that then i didn't have her pinned at s-k. that person is hot.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 16 October 2003 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"well bred cats"
ha ha

I'd like to know what you based your suppositions of who E was at the sleater-kinney show on

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Thursday, 16 October 2003 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

hey Claire do you ever let half an hour go by without telling people y've been to university? a double degree even! or whatever

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Thursday, 16 October 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Aside from ACT the Greens are like the last party I'd ever vote for

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i was right about who di was at s-k; but wrong about elisabeth. i think i may have confused her with corin...

don't worry, you too can have numerous degrees, if you are in nz (wellington especially): they pass any fool now, so really mentioning it isn't of much consequence. my multiple qualifications are less about fine aptitude than an inability to decide what to do next.

do you ask cause your degree (if you have one) is pot-holed with c+/b's? or is it cause you wanna make me look like a wanker (it's a bit tired an approach in this forum yet i happily invite it) so you can feel better? or is it cause it's just boring hearing about how educated i am. it really is boring isn't it, i agree. though some posts belie it, most IRErs are reasonably educated. all my education hasn't made anything much better than, i imagine, not being educated. except i earn more than a sifter and can buy whatever i want and give notes to buskers.

ditto andrew. it's political slim pickings in NZ.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 16 October 2003 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

What good is that? How can you ever repay the last thirty seconds you have stolen from my life? I hate you, your husband, your children, and your relatives!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Wot's a sifter?

Minty, Thursday, 16 October 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

More than a pittance, I'd imagine

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 16 October 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

a sifter's kinda like a minty without the n; or, it's like someone who thinks they're unique but they're actually part of an ugly non-thinking zeigeist, and so EVERYTHING they do (every list they write) is obvious, mappable and usually happened somewhere else first.

nice to see you're all following my tune. knew you were suggestible.

elisabeth, be truthful, you know if you met me in other circumstances you wouldn't be able to think of anyone else.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 16 October 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, btw it's not that plants interest me, just i'm forced to study them in the old A-level malarkey:o :/ so has the tide turned against clare? is she the new adrian? find out in the next post...:o :/ rofl "i am pure comedy" :|

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Thursday, 16 October 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i voted Green for the simple fact that they're much more ideologically in line with what i want in a government than any other party. the only two things labour have got going for them is that a) they're marginally better than national and b) helen's quite the looker. andrew, clare, what about coalition-wise? do you both REALLY prefer peter dunne up helen's butt than jeanette? REALLY? frankly, i cannot see what makes New Zealand First, United Future and the National Party preferable to the Greens.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 16 October 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Clare, I really truly doubt that. I'm sure you're like every other common dyke in this town.
I don't like you and do not enjoy your posts! Mentioning Andrew's beloved trees and the fact that you now think I may be good looking isn't going to change that, please try and see things my way!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 16 October 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

no i'm really not like any dyke in your town (actually i pity the partner choices dykes have there). i'm sure you don't care, but i wouldn't use the word dyke to describe my sexuality/position at all - nor queer, lesbian or any of the other commons. i tend not to need to describe it, which is one of the reasons i can assure you i'm not like the lesbians in your town.

whether or not you enjoy my posts is of no consequence to me at all - neither is the consideration that andrew may or may not like trees. the drama of your friendship with him is, however, rather interesting to watch be played out here.

di - i wish labour had gone with the greens. actually i started before leaving nz to wish alliance was still there sans jim. i think they may make a come back in the next election - but wot's her name will have to get a haircut; that whispy job wasn't cutting it with helen's good looks. HC's too much the power monger now, it seems.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Thursday, 16 October 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

On of my friends ended up as the Alliance candidate for Otago North last time. Poor bugger got beaten by the Outdoor Recreation Party.

Minty, Thursday, 16 October 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

whether or not i enjoy your posts is of no consequence to you at all - neither is the consideration that you may or may not think you are so very objective, fair, and intelligent. the drama of how impressed you are with yourself is, however, rather interesting to watch be played out here.

black plastic that's excellent - on mark and smart. now i am off for a long weekend in hong kong, where i may eat something that once looked like those pretty, ground grubbing birds above.

i don't hold out much hope for alliance after that story, minty. btw, does the name sandeep mean anything to you?

Sorry, guineafowl: no black tie, no entry.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool! What's everyone gonna do? I got dibs on backup dancer.

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Damian had this bandname idea too, dig that! Ok I'll play guitar, let's cover "We Want Fun"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 22 October 2003 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok I'm in, I'd better play bass cause it's the only instrument I know and I can't dance or sing.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Thursday, 23 October 2003 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I can drum, just don't expect me to keep good time or pay attention to anything the rest of you are doing.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 23 October 2003 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually I lie, I can also play the trombone. Or could in intermediate school, though I haven't tried since.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 23 October 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

minty if you are backup dancer, that clearly makes me lead. i can play the triangle at the same time.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 23 October 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo! Parachute pants, here I come!

Minty (Minty), Thursday, 23 October 2003 00:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Parachute pants (Oops), Thursday, 23 October 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll play keyboards! This is a supergroup already.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 23 October 2003 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to be in the Landing, ladies form an orderly queue

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 04:14 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't one of you used to get postcards from tobin sprout?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 23 October 2003 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, we got one once I think

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

If Livvie plays trombone it can be like that episode of the Monkees where Peter sells his soul to the devil (unknowingly, he's calling himself MR ZERO) in exchange for the ability to play the harp, and their happening harp sound takes them to the tops of the charts worldwide! The Oxygen Sluts' TROMBONE SOUND is the key to music in 2004!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

And if Duane's willing to play drums too there could be a double drumkit setup, like the Fall used to have. I'm a bit too into this, I'm tired and I just wrote an annoying essay, sorry.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i need a band to join:( i am teh geetar play0r :D huhiho

jonathan gittins (nevermind^), Thursday, 23 October 2003 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Double drums hellz yeah! I saw Kool and the Gang do that, but they didn't utilize it to full effect.

oops (Oops), Friday, 24 October 2003 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, both our drummers'll have DOUBLE KICKDRUMS!!!

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 26 October 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I know a few ACT supporter types up in Wellington. My ex-girlfriend's friends with that lot, last year I went to her flatwarming in Welly & the place was lousy with them. I didn't really mind, there was lots of good whiskey and arguments to be had. But I had to take off early cos my little brother had come along & he thought politics was boring & was a bit nervous that someone would find out that we'd drank all the whiskey.

True story.

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Dammit, now that story just looks out of place. Don't leave me hanging like that Roo!

Minty (Minty), Thursday, 30 October 2003 00:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it looks like a cool little anecdote like that myself

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 30 October 2003 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)
