Let's have a damned good bitch about the ABC

On behalf of all of us, thanks fellas.

Anybody else want to have a say?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 10 November 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Grrr to them not posting my Fantasy updates!

Cleavy, Tuesday, 11 November 2003 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Cleavy is Nath?

Nath is Cleavy?

Wow!!!!

*bitch mode*
If this new regime was to stop the chat, why is there so much bloody pointless chat and meaningless crap going on in there?

And why won't they let me tell modding Aquarius what a patronising, self-righteous, self-satisfied, smug, ignorant little hypocrite she is?
*bitch mode: off*

*Pats Cleavy on head*

tailender (tailender), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm, I am sensing things are about to turn nasty.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

No, but Fred said we could get a few things off our chests, and that's been bugging me no end.

I'll be nice now. :-)

tailender (tailender), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 08:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I just noticed that Aquarius has found *this* forum, and I was wondering what their response to your post would be.

Silence, it appears.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

... this is the dawning of a page of Aquarius ...

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

. . . sympathy and understanding . . . harmony and trust . . . ?

I don't think so. :-(

tailender (tailender), Tuesday, 11 November 2003 10:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Ben is Glory?

Glory is Ben?

Cleavy, Tuesday, 11 November 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing about the ABC site is how good the actual format was/is.

Maybe whoever steers this shit should have a look.

Dominic Stefanson (powwow), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Having a look isn't the answer. Getting the code, and then the space to host a forum with that format is.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Nath has the space, I believe- does anyone know anything about forum coding and how the ABC one is done?

Poseiden (Poseiden), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a mate who's a whiz-bang computer programmer, I could ask him.

It'll prbably only cost us $10,000.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Nath has the space, I believe- does anyone know anything about forum coding and how the ABC one is done?"

main thing with space is storing all the archives...

Cleavy, Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

What about the set-up, though? What would it take to get something to run with the same style as the ABC?

Tried a lot of other forums, but that's still the most user-friendly system I've come across.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"*bitch mode*

ooh, I'm scared. I could also use words against you like xenophobic, discriminatory, rude, (also) ignorant, anti-Semitic, but why bother.

-- tailender (cjf...), November 11th, 2003."

Aquarius (Aquarius), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

" I could also use words against you like xenophobic, discriminatory, rude, (also) ignorant, anti-Semitic, but why bother."

You could, but you'd be wrong on most counts. Rude, oh yes, very rude when occasion calls for it.

But the rest - Oh, boy, you could not be more wrong, sunshine. You know sweet F.A. about me, and you really are showing it.

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Observations at ABC knock-off time at 5pm in Spiv central ...

"the ABC 'encourages vigorous debate' and shall to that end post anything you feel is of interest and it deems acceptable sometime tomorrow - tough luck if you don't like it.

If you want to compare Love's 200+ not out and Katich's 171, you can do so tomorrow.

Now sod off and leave the ABC alone."

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 13 November 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

My latest post:

Almost 24 hours without a post update.
PATHETIC ABC.
Under this forums new regime of pre moderated censorship, iv'e no doubt that this post won't see the light of day.
Just so you know Mr/Ms moderator.
We are not happy.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Sunday, 16 November 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Fair go, BD - you can't honestly expect them to work on the weekend when the majority of sport is played, can you?

tailender (tailender), Sunday, 16 November 2003 07:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe taily, but the other sports forums are updating, albeit very slowly.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Sunday, 16 November 2003 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

So, everyone's given up for the weekend. Don't blame them. I usually only go there to submit nuisance posts these days.

tailender (tailender), Sunday, 16 November 2003 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Likewise, taily. I haven't tried to post a non-nuisance message on the ABC for quite a while.

Been surprised that God, sorry, the Mod (a mistake he/she/it often makes him/her/it-self, doubtless) is quite happy for me to sling as much sarcasm as I like at other posters but any negative comment about him/her/itself or the forum as a whole has a snowball's chance in hell of seeing the light of day.

Seems to me the Mod is a precious little twerp. Discuss.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Sunday, 16 November 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Not just the Mod - bound to be operating under official orders from them upstairs.

I'd suggest that the C in ABC stood for censorship, but you'd probably ban me for using that word here . . . ;-)

tailender (tailender), Sunday, 16 November 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Love it.

They packed up before I got on line yesterday and when the jamodi final was on, but they're still there and putting up posts at 10:30 tonight.

Sheer modding brilliance.

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 20 November 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

On the Other Sports forum today I submitted a post with a web address I thought was appropriate, for some bloke who was having a whinge. Presumably for that reason, the post never made it.

The link was to the US Navy's site, as in 'go tell it to the Marines'. But the lazy bastard couldn't be bothered checking it so he/she/it just sent it into the ether. Absolutely pathetic.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 20 November 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Should go check the OS forum out, but can't really be bothered. Do they get much traffic in there?

PS :o) @ Marines

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 20 November 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

OS has had 772 posts, which for mine ain't a real lot when you consider it covers the whole sporting world (except cricket). It's pretty pedestrian, and mostly ARL and AFL and the Union WC and why each of them is a load of bollocks in the opinion of fans of the others.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 20 November 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The fact that it takes 4 clicks to get from cricket to OS might also be irritating enough for some people to keep them away.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 20 November 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

"OS has had 772 posts"

Even the half dead cricket forum has had more than that since the new regime came into power. Brilliant work, ABC.

Now, just amalgamate the two, then after 2 months you can admit it's not working, and drop the whole thing.

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 20 November 2003 13:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I started promoting this board on Nov 10 and this will be post 252. The OS forum has had 244 since that day.

(The cricket forum has had 460 since Nov 10 including modded posts.)

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 20 November 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I tried to post the address of this site and Nath's for Bernie JM yesterday, on the ABC site, but they moderated that part of my post ...

... modholes !!

pieman (pieman), Friday, 21 November 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

That little shit 'extras' (who I'm sure is the LS FKA 'firstdrop') took the cheapest and most banal of cheap shots at Rik E Boy on the ABC forum and it somehow got through despite being completely unfunny, irrelevant, childish and gratuitously insulting.

I fire one back at him and La Merde jumps on it. I've whinged about it in an email to La Merde. I await the response.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 27 November 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Response: S.F.A.

Or, in forum-speak: SIUYBG

The post count is going down by the day, deespite the season being well and truly upon us. Why don't they just put the poor modding thing out of our misery?

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 27 November 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to hang about the ABC forum until the first Test, see if they allow anything live during that ... if not, stuff it

barring the odd nuisance post of course

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 27 November 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

as a perverse old roman...I intend to stick at it and post when I like it...my view is to keep demand up

horace, Friday, 28 November 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

no horace, the more posts they get, the more they'll think we've allowed them to get away with it. My ration is no more than 2 sensible posts per day, the rest is pure shit-stirring.

Mainly aqua-stirring, actually.

tailender (tailender), Friday, 28 November 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeez...are you lot still bitching?
Pretty pointless now that the ABC have turned a deaf ear.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Friday, 28 November 2003 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Been emailing all these to them, BD.

Funny how their automatic response seems to have been canned . . . ;-)

tailender (tailender), Friday, 28 November 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Shorty & i are in the chat room at the mo if you want to say hi.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Friday, 28 November 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Tails, you were spot on about the lack of response from the Powers that Be.

Notice OP seems to be appreciating the shrinkage of the pond. When will he realise it's become too stagnant to sustain life?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 28 November 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

OP, like many, has transferred the bulk of his affections to c4. Though he's incapable of remaining loyal to either in the current situation.

Pond? Nah, it's a cesspit - mainly full of shit and, consequently, stinks to high heaven.

tailender (tailender), Friday, 28 November 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"I'm going to hang about the ABC forum until the first Test, see if they allow anything live during that ... if not, stuff it."

They will have the thing open during the day, so the Tests will be OK - until knock off time.

Will be interesting if to see if they keep it open later when the day-night VB games are on.

tailender (tailender), Saturday, 29 November 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Even Aquarius seems to have given up on ABC....now THAT says something ;-)

Big Dog (Big Dog), Saturday, 29 November 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Read the DKL fan 'comments' again, BD, and weep ...

pieman (pieman), Sunday, 30 November 2003 03:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That JimBeam has warped your brain, BD. The ABC forum now IS cjfb/Aquarius/DKLFan.

How long can she talk to herself in there before the Moderator bans her for being a clueless total prat?

tailender (tailender), Sunday, 30 November 2003 08:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Fred you've found the secret. You just have to keep your sledges relatively polite and they will let them through. Well done.

I would comment there but I fear it may alert the Mod to what they missed.

R. Darling, Monday, 1 December 2003 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a fluke RD. I've had much milder posts than that flunk the muster (see up-thread).

Between DKLF (weren't they a really cruddy band who sang a duet with Tammy Wynette?) and waboy, and of course Laughing Larry, the ABC forum is looking more like a Mensa club every day.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 1 December 2003 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

"That JimBeam has warped your brain, BD"

Quite possibly taily but its prolly more to do with the fact that i don't read all that drivel so i didn't cotton to that fact that it was Aqua.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Monday, 1 December 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely the fact that it was such high-class drivel would have alerted you?

tailender (tailender), Monday, 1 December 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Somehow 'Aquarius' & 'high class' don't seem to go hand in hand.

Big Dog (Big Dog), Monday, 1 December 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"That was a fluke RD. I've had much milder posts than that flunk the muster (see up-thread). "

Maybe the Mod just hates Collingwood fans too.

Re Mensa: seeing someone post that Gilchrist is a better gloveman than Healy has to brighten your day.

R. Darling, Monday, 1 December 2003 23:17 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehehe@RDarling,FN and Tailly...

maybe I am allowed an advantage as an antique citizen, but the abc Mod has never modded nor sinbinned me...

one of the great things of the current situation is that the likes of aqua have evaporated (hehehehe)....also the abc site seems to have transmogrified into a Horace clan reunion club of late...never knew I had so many rellies..

on the cricket how about ganguly deserting his troops yesterday at the cricket

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace, as Taily pointed out the twit Aquarius is now the twit DKLFan.

It says a lot about the sort of bloke Ganguly is to do that sort of thing. Surely he doesn't think he is the first touring batsman to get a dodgy decision (if it was) in a warm up game.

R. Darling, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

p.s. you must have been a popular forumer to have so many admirers

R. Darling, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

tho not as popular as you RD....where is skully these days???

poor DKL...rather sad that he is being aqua'ed

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:22 (twenty-two years ago)

not sure if you folks are reading forum posts today, but here is a classic from DKLFan/aqua

"Both Steve and Mark could've had more centuries to their records if they had converted some of those 90s."

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

horace,
perhaps you could start an "Aqua's greatest quotes" thread here to save them for the ages.

Poseiden (Poseiden), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Big story (well, big pic over thin story devoid of news) in today's Age about Melbourne's own Pontiff of Pacifier Projection, Matthew Richardson of the not-even-a-little-bit-mighty Richmond Tigers.

Suarev 'Richo' Ganguly, anybody?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

richo kicks as accurately as a Chris mathews opening spell..

richo, ganguly and magoo are all void of 'team spirit'

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:48 (twenty-two years ago)

hi
<>

not sure sister taily would appreciate that!!

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

horace
skully is over at C4 attempting (in vain) to keep VoR in check and also laughing at horette/horror ace/horace jnr/horass etc.

R. Darling, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

how odd RD that you know all their names..have never looked at C4...do you have a link?? My fave's are horette (a real cutey who is concerned about cricket balls landing on the front lawn of the Chip Central nursing home when magoo bowls and Hjnr, who despite being a 'Chip' of the old block, could not be accused of being a chippie

how is spiv city treating you...

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

horace
link is
http://community.channel4.com/6/ubb.x?a=frm&s=162603557&f=821609267

The names were brought to my attention on C4. How could someone go wrong with a name like horette - I may look her up next time I'm up there (meeting the forward may be more daunting). If Hjnr cannot be accused of being a chippie he must be a top bloke and (from what he/she posts) appears to be quite sensible.

Spiv Central is fantastic from Friday to Sunday but crap the rest of the time but Townsville like me so much (go figure) they've asked me back

R. Darling, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

thanx RD...will give it a try...even if only to flame VoR for old times sake...

Towsnville eh? hehehe....have been doing a lot of travels myself...intra qbillyland and other states...up in rockvegas and cairns next week...been on the speakers circuit advising people not to migrate to qbillyland or for those under sentence here how to escape

horace, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

You may need to talk me down, then, horrie. Am seriously thinking about migrating North soon.

It's either that or going back to Tassie, and the climate down there is too cold for my poor middle-aged bones.

Though there's also Westralia, or even Adelaide . . . .

tailender (tailender), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 07:50 (twenty-two years ago)

drop me a line horrie, if you fancy a cocoa ...

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

hi pie and cazaly taily...

am in cairns on tues night ..happy to catch you for a cuppa...or pot!

taily...not sure qbillyville is the place for an intelligent soul like yourself...all aqua's rellos seem to live here!!

horace, Wednesday, 3 December 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

horace, a beer next Tuesday pm sounds grand. Better still a counter meal with beer if you've the time, or a curry ...

Dunwoody's (counter meal), Perrotta's brasserie at the art gallery (top spot) or The Tandoori Oven, what would you prefer? Or just a beer?

just don't bring the whole extended family, although horetta sounds nice

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Notice there's a character called 'Voice of Raccoon' posting on the WLOTABC forum today.

That'll get up the Nonevent Layabout Wozzie Lamebrain's nose, especially the '...coon' bit.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

RD is funny

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

hi pie man....I get into cairns around 6.00pm on tues...happy to have a beer at Dunwoody's...meet you there at 7.00pm??...I'll be the guy arguing with any qbillies who happen to be there...sadly Horette who is an otherwise wonderful gal has an achilles heel...as you know RD is ancient greek for achilles heel and horette is being squired around him atm

horace, Wednesday, 3 December 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

bloody ABC has robbed us of the joy of a horace sledge. Luckily Horette isn't as bitter and twisted as her dad

R. Darling, Thursday, 4 December 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

not at all RD...horace is everywhere

horace, Thursday, 4 December 2003 00:29 (twenty-two years ago)

horace is everywhere and spreading it appears (as you could tell by the "Thommo's a qbilly" post, no longer are all the horace variants the one person)

True a select few have the pleasure of the Roman wit but it surely deserves a wider audience as provided by Aunty in her glory days.

R. Darling, Thursday, 4 December 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

too true RD...rain is truly conspiring to rain on the koala parade...lucky you did not wangle a junket up here for the test...like a koalas beard it is very grey up here

horace, Thursday, 4 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

even you must feel sorry for the koala today - having to spent all that time locked in a dressing listening to Magoo tell him how well he'll go because Tendulkar hasn't faced him before. And all this while protecting his gear from Langer, Gilchrist, Marto and Willo who want to flog on ebay

R. Darling, Thursday, 4 December 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

RD, would Wozzie technology be advanced enough to even know what ebay is?

Ross (Ross), Thursday, 4 December 2003 01:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Wozzie technology has only reached the stage of the loom. Spinning yarn being necessary to keep VoR dressed in his fave sheets

horace, Thursday, 4 December 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Fair point Ross, perhaps that just want to use it to barter for some more sheets.

R. Darling, Thursday, 4 December 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

horace, Dunwoody's at 7 is on, looking forward to a few beers.

note you now have some fairly mixed up rellies in the form of e roach and a chore ...

ABC is being over-run by your progeny

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 4 December 2003 03:29 (twenty-two years ago)

oh well I have lived for a couple thou years and was a scallywag in my day...so I should not be surprised at seeing all these good and bad pennies turning up..

just checked my flight times...my plane does not get in til 7.20 on tues night...will head direct there

horace, Thursday, 4 December 2003 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

found you.

horace and pieman on the town together, I doubt Cairns is going to be the place to be for a Lady next week

horette, Thursday, 4 December 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

as my great great great great great great great great great etc very grand daughter, i am concerned for your welfare...avoid cairns

horace, Thursday, 4 December 2003 06:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Nice work by the Pieman getting one past the mod, but it's not nice to pick on RD's shortcomings like that

horette, Monday, 8 December 2003 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I held my breath before I tapped submit, but being banned is not such a penalty these days.

Glad you liked it.

pieman (pieman), Monday, 8 December 2003 06:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Ridiculous, given what they canned from me last night. Bleeding moderators must have split personalities, or else they're getting bored with the place.

Are we all giving in, and letting them get away with it?

tailender (tailender), Monday, 8 December 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had a couple of offerings rejected as well. Oh well, I can live with the humiliation....

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

What particularly pisses me off is that one of them was a perfectly polite explanation to cj that I wasn't Anti-Fan. If she's allowed to accuse me of that sort of harrassment, why can't I rebut it?

The others I expected. After all, suggesting that continued brawling could result in the forum being placed on permanent pre-moderation would have been a little close to the bone.
And as for saying that I'd prefer our old forum back rather than resources being wasted on giving us intimate views of commentators picking their noses and scratching their bums . . .

tailender (tailender), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had a couple of offerings rejected as well...
Where's those RD double-entendres when you need them?

Poseiden (Poseiden), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

ABC Cricket Forum, postings since 9.00 am 8/12/03: 136 (plus 25 rejected, judging by the numbers).

This forum: 93

Nath's: about a dozen.

(Most of Nath's came in the 10 mins between innings this afternoon, when for a fleeting second it looked like Steve's day might go pearshaped after all. A Certain Chronic Complainer suddenly re-emerged from hiding, only to stick his head back down the hole very quickly after Bracken (the Nasty Satan Worshipper who got a game for being Steve's mate) took wickets with consec balls.)

This forum had its heaviest-traffic day today, and by Sydney we may well have overtaken 'OP's sardine tin'.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 8 December 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Congrats, Fred.

tailender (tailender), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Nothing to do with me. All I did is set it up, and that took me the grand total of five minutes.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 8 December 2003 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

LOL@ABC sledgers. Love your work Frederick.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

The ABC forum is completely dead... which I suppose was the intention all along.

ojitarian (ojitarian), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 03:43 (twenty-two years ago)

They even killed off the TV Freak forum! Bastards!

Cleavy, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

"The ABC forum is completely dead... "

or just OP and that junkie idiot are off sick

horette, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Careful Horette, she'll 'av ya.

Last time I'll politely advise her to be a little clearer.

Aquacephalus.

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks for the advice pieman, but she's not half as scary as that tailender bird.

p.s. any truth to the rumour that all nursing home in Tropical FNQ have been warned to keep their doors locked this evening

horette, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

... the dial-a-granny service is on red alert

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

*pouts*

But I'm harmless. pie got away unscathed . . .

. . . have to move quicker next time. :-)

tailender (tailender), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

... slightly sore head this morning.

that old Roman can certainly put the mead away.

pieman (pieman), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

"... slightly sore head this morning."

If the stories about Pop are true just be thankful that that is the only part of your body that is sore.

Very grateful. Also grateful that VoR was not around as we were highly combustible by the evening's end.

pieman (pieman), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Bugger. I always miss the fun. :-(

tailender (tailender), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

uuurrkkhhh...I can duly report through the thick fug of what remains of my aged brain that I have returned safely to the Chip Central Nursing Home....

let me say that Cairns seems full of attractive grannies, but given my vintage (thoroughly corked by now) they were far too young...spent an evening on the vino et veritas with the redoubtable pieman...an eloquent and cricket erudite young fellow...of course he is neither a qbilly nor a dubber and that helped...

the best story of the cricketing week was a certain koala who recalling "elephant man" declared "I AM NOT A CRIMINAL"...this was re the publication of his history of surviving runouts...

thanx pieman for the good cheer, chat and company-

horace, Thursday, 11 December 2003 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

with more notice next time I shall try to arrange a feast ...

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 11 December 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Careful Pieman, if you are too welcoming the old bugger might stay next time (and clearly he isn't the easiest presence to remove)

horette, Thursday, 11 December 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I have had the pleasure of meeting that august gentleman Horace on several occassions and contend that young Horette needs to show more respect for her ancient rello

RD's Auntie, Thursday, 11 December 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

horace - beware the ides of February. I will be flying in to Chip Central for 2 weeks around 14-15, hopefully lying around in a toga at some place called Noosa for most of the time quaffing Cascade, but there will be time for 2 gentle games of cricket with shortkeeper ... and I believe he needs someone who can keep a scorebook properly if you don't deign to show us plebs how to disport ourselves properly. Beer would probably come into the equation somewhere though I doubt SK will join us as he believes it ruins his physique.

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 11 December 2003 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

My auntie runs a brothel in Darlinghurst so there is little doubt she is telling the truth about being familiar with horace. Although horette is a cheeky little prat she just make sage points.

R. Darling, Thursday, 11 December 2003 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

surely not Mrs Rick or Rick's sister RD ...

and how come your strike rate is so low with such opportunities for advancement in your family?

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 11 December 2003 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

She's not a Darling. Paying for it doesn't count in the score book - it's akin to padding up and the ball going for fall.

Did make for interesting parties for my counsins and myself - she used to use them to audition girls as strippers

R. Darling, Thursday, 11 December 2003 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

four not fall

R. Darling, Thursday, 11 December 2003 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

"_used to_ audition the girls as strippers" ... geez, that sounds like a job for life, to me

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 11 December 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Would be a short life.

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 11 December 2003 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

No more bitching. How can we object to the introduction of such a great sport - getting one past the moderator?

Yesterday was brilliant, boys. :-)

Pity Lion didn't join in and sign on as "whitebait".

tailender (tailender), Friday, 12 December 2003 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The mod-hole has gone to once daily updates.

powwow (powwow), Thursday, 18 December 2003 06:35 (twenty-two years ago)

The mod-hole will do without one more, I've had a gutful.

How can you have "intelligent and informed" debate, with sod-all intelligent and informed posters, and at least 6 hours between updates?

tailender (tailender), Thursday, 18 December 2003 08:03 (twenty-two years ago)

So it looks like a daily diet of c4, with Fred's and Nath's fora in the evenings for those of us who can't get to c4 during the day ... although it will be hard to resist the occasional visit to ABC to see if they have picked up their game.

During the Tests I assume things might be better. I must admit to some surprise that they posted my thread topic yesterday re: 'many short threads' ...

pieman (pieman), Thursday, 18 December 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

The mods are probably as bored with things as we are. :-(

tailender (tailender), Friday, 19 December 2003 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

How could you be bored Taily with the things at your disposal to play with?

horette, Friday, 19 December 2003 03:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a very large mind. It takes a great to keep it occupied.

Besides, playing is often more fun with a playmate.
