Adding new roster slot for Trash Can – 2020 ILX Fantasy Baseball!

League has been auto renewed.
I'm setting the draft for oooooohhhh, let's say Sun March 22 at 4pm EST.
Please please please get me your keeper picks by the Sunday before so I can set rosters and draft order.

What is new this year?
I've added a 3rd IL slot.
We will be doing a weighted draft lottery based on last year's standings. Congrats again to last year's champ, NA, btw!
For keeper purposes age is going to be calculated as-of April 1st instead of the always-shifting opening day.
And it looks like Johnny Crunch will be retiring (sad face), with possibly a new GM taking over.

and as always, the rules:
• total of 5 keepers
• 2 of which must be 27, 28 or 29 yrs old
• another 2 players 26 or under
• one final keeper that can be either (basically anyone under the age of 30)
• age is calculated as-of April 1
• for a player to be keep-eligible he must have been drafted on draft day by your team or traded to you by a team that drafted him. that means:
• free agent/waiver pick-ups cannot be kept
• if you have less than 5 keepers, you will get an extra draft pick at the end of the draft
• keep it clean

also my swap of Correa & friends for Lindor & others isn't reflected.

I put those into the sheet btw! should be ok now. A total of 9 players were traded, I only inputted the ones who are keeper relevant (i.e. weren't dropped or aren't going to be over 30)

also seeing the apr 1 thing now -- changing the "opening date" in the sheet, as I had it at 03-28. This has only effected 3 players, making them a year older, but they didn't change age brackets so no worries (dahl, bregman, and matt olson are 26, not 25). be sure to doublecheck tho, i found an error in the formula and had to "set" the date to apr2, i'm too brain-tired to fix now.

i think you mentioned off-season trades were ok last year? if so, misters broccoli and beforetime plz check webmails?

I think we should just go ahead with the draft on that date tbh unless everyone else disagrees. Maybe it depends on whether or not Charles Barkley gave the Angels coronavirus I guess.

aside from the Charles Berkley part, i agree.
best to stick with a date that, miraculously, no one has had an issue with and that would at least allow us to made trades and gaze longingly at our league-winning lineup.

my2cents: I'd prefer to push the date to reflect the season best we can.

they're saying a delay could go back as far as July – and as more news comes in, the less i'm confident the US has the ability to handle this situation...
maybe putting the draft on hold is the way to go.

it's a bit of a risk someone gets screwed somehow, the larger the interim after draft

I don't think theres anything to lose in delaying it, so why not do that

i'm happy either way, as long as i get to pick 10-20 baseball men at some point this summer.

if they cancel the whole season i'll just make a pretend draft for myself and stare at it longingly til september.

If the NBA is looking to head back in June, with the playoffs extending into late summer, then baseball could easily be off until then too. The season would be maybe 100 games plus playoffs? With no transactions or new injuries between now and whenever the season starts up again, would anyone really draft differently if the draft was held now vs two months from now? But I'm fine either way.

i think there is the potential injuries pop-up or maybe some teams don't get started on time due to sick players? there's so many variables at this point.
i also think i would go insane looking at a fantasy lineup i couldn't do anything with.

i don't think it'll make a huge difference but it's probably prudent to delay

yeah the thing i am most worried about is just 2 months of chances for catchers to injure themselves in luggage-related injuries (looking at you, both lucroy and perez, somehow)

I had the first two of my three drafts yesterday. It's like the ultimate fantasy draft because even the sports themselves aren't real!

i already did my other league's draft a week ago today (it is blowing my mind that that was only 8 DAYS AGO) so i'm actually excited about this one being delayed, can't wait to see the difference between what i valued on march 15th and what i value on an undetermined day in the future hopefully!

I am doubtful there will be baseball this year, if they do try to start up, I will dump the auto draft results, set a date and plug in keepers for a redraft (which I hope is doable). I’m not sure I got picks from everyone but I will need them fast and furious if your picks are still MIA or you want to change them. I’d imagine we will know for sure in month.

Can the commish kindly explain why we have HR, SLG & XBH? Seems excessive.

Watch out guys, I just simulated our season using keepers alone and I finished a very distant last place.

For the XBH, we had added some new pitching categories and wanted something to add to hitting to balance it out. There wasn’t a lot to choose from - and some people were worried it would reward HR hitters too much, but it seemed to reward more gap-power type hitters just as much. It was a while ago and we had a convo about it at the time, if you want to go back and see the discussion in the older fantasy threads, my memory is hazy.

oh i had every intention of drafting pearson, i just forgot about him. i starred a bunch of guys before the draft thinking that would highlight them in some way during the draft but that didn't happen

i drafted like a total idiot completely disregarding this year and drafting all but 2 or 3 players under 30, none of whom are going to be given enough playing time to actually prove to anyone that they're worth keeping for 2021

i wonder if yahoo! will remain flexible on position designation for next year so that we don't end up with a bunch of DHs trying to qualify for position eligibility in 2021.

Well I had quite a fall from grace, sparked by Scherzer's 1st inning exit a few days ago and all downhill from there, team-wide. If Flaherty ever makes his 2nd start that may help (has not pitched since opening day!)
